give us a bell on 0274500199. me and LIS are going over on Xmas day to paint the sponsors on the roads, then back on boxing day for the bikes, then back to the aqautrack for the jetsprints the next day. We've got in free as I've been doing all the signage for both events as well as tagging the local Wanganui bikes, boats and trailers.
So if anyone wants to follow us to the jetsprinting, drop a line.
They have hotfood caravans out there too.
We'll be at Steve Watkins Autopainters on bike raceday enjoying a few if your wandering past. Just look for the Ssangyong sign painted on the road.

as far as I am aware Dragem jeans are not acceptable for the track. Just to be sure ask in the manfield thread and someone official like will answer.
Good ride tonight. Bit windy but had a good time on some familar roads. Others have gone for coffee in town but I piked and come home.

chanceyy
4th January 2008, 21:05
umm from the other thread re track day

==========
Just rock up on the day, no pre-bookings, we use the “old” track layout. ( not the extended track )

Just $40 for the day

Sorry no cheques

Sign in and Scrutineering Strictly 9am to 9:45am

Bikes presented for scrutineering must be of WOF standard

All glass to be taped. Sorry no sidecars

Bikes must be under 85db to comply with Manfeild regulations

All riders must comply with the following:

Minimum age of 15

Must hold and present a NZ Motorcycle Licence

Minimum gear: Motorcycle Boots, Draggin Jeans, Motorcycle Jacket, Gloves, and Helmet

CD’s reserves the right to refuse entry and/or to expel any rider who does not comply with event rules on the day.
===============

so it would appear draggin jeans accepted

How about Leave Ashhurst at 6.00 pm and head to Cheltnam, over vinager hill, back down the main road towards PN then swing back towards Feilding through Halcombe to PN to a Cafe. If Cafe Cuba is still not open, back to Brewers Apprentice.

Thats what it is sports tourer, gsx es model, not one of them namby pamby sports bikes, shit if I'd bought a gixer it would kill me,both with speed and position.Did I say one lady owner(present one),only go to church on it,well first 6 mths according to wof sheet 145km in 6 mths, was getting confidence back, tootling about on short fun rides.Good riding possy for two up,guy I stole it off had a gs1200ss model, took mine to Napier prior to selling 2 up,then took his gs to Cambridge 2 up,both from Opunake, said the run to Napier was slower, but much more comfy, even his wife agreed, and after sitting on the gs would agree, the gsx is low seat and comfy.

Great ride with Great peoples, Gary, Meanie and Mrs Meanie....so it was a small group. I really enjoyed the return trip on roads I'd not done before, and barely a straight in sight! Oh yeah guys, I got to Woodville gas station...just. Could not see or hear any gas in the tank and it took 17.05 liters, manual says she is a 17 liter tank, so :shit:.

Hell yeah, it says two litres reserve, but I think because the bottom of the tank is so wide and flat, the fuel struggles to find the petcock!

Yod the capacity is something you really only worry about to get enough fork oil. Main thing is to get the right viscosity.

You set the oil level in each fork by compressing it fully without the spring in. Both forks should be fairly close as the air pocket provides a bit of a spring effect. I would rather go for to little than to much oil as if the level is to high this puts load on the fork seal. Conventional forks arent as critical as USDs for oil level

There are some tricks in removing the seals for backyard mechanics but the best way is to fully strip down the forks if your going to keep the bike.

First step is to remove the forks from the bike. If you dont have a good vice with soft jaws you will find the job very difficult. And tubing of the right size to fit the new seals.

cheers Garry - I checked the right oil weight for the VFR and got 10W for it so ok there

I had heard that a decent vice would be handy and I since I dont really have one I was thinking it might just be easier to remove them and take them to a shop to do anyway...

last nights run was good

shot out to ashhurst and found Garry, cowboyz and Meanie waiting, not too long after another chap turns up (not sure of name, nice to meet you), on a GSX with pillion, done. nice to see the zookis outnumbering the kwakas for a change.

off out the colyton road - apparently it was "my ride" so I was sposed to lead - ok, that works. reasonably gentle pace to kimbolton road, then ducked into Feilding to head for the good ol' halcombe road and was impressed to see the restraint cowboyz was showing sitting on my right shoulder but not heading through. of course that all ended in the last 2 km up the hill to SH1 as I saw nothing but green in my mirrors, but the RF held its ground to the junction with a little help from sun-strike on the last corner:niceone:

unfortunately after stopping at the top I discovered my magnificent bleed job on my clutch had all gone to the pack as I must have not tightened the reservoir lid properly and there was fluid all down the bike. arse. tightened it up and headed for hunterville. the GSX headed back down halcombe way - catch up again soon mate

stopped in hunterville for gas, coffee and to clean the crap of my bike. bumped into an old mate from Auckland who I hadnt seen in years - random. he will no doubt join us on his GPz900R A6 () when time allows. cool. (sorry if I held the rest of you lot up)

headed up to the vinegar hill turn off where we puased so cowboyz could turn on the camera. this should be interesting.

Meanie led the way with cowboyz recording his every move. the RF was itching to steal the limelight but that road isnt the easiest to pass on when you're all moving quick. off the bridge cowboyz was a true gentleman and just gassed off slightly so I could nip past and get on the tail of the big concours. a few corners later I gave the RF a mighty twist down the inside of a sweeper and had the concours, but again, Meanie was a gentleman and gave me the chance. from there we ripped up the hill and on to stormy point.

at the topped I slowed and thought I'd let the kwakas gain some ground. all of a sudden there's a silver and green blur and I'm half a k behind again. oh alright then. a mighty pace was had by all back to cheltenham where we had a brief stop and summarily took the piss out of each others bikes. as ya do. This whole time Garry was supervising the kids. cheers Garry, I know it was just that rear tyre. youre too nice....

good ride chaps, thanks. ya never realise how much you miss being on the bike until you get back on it.

Fence is coming along. Have to put it on hold for the rest of the night cause it is just too fucking hot. Nearly got all the trellis built though.

Ouch trellis, paint with spray gun,to bloody fiddly.

Ambrose way to go,when I started playing during summer evenings, was ok at start but had a guy with 4 handicap and ex hockey player, another guy on 10 h/cap and 2 of us with no handicap(just the 6"between ears)used to win quite a bit as our stableford points nullified theirs, plus grab a "two" each time out usually to get a free ball each night, soon got sick of it and went along on a Thursday and play individually, game even improved as had to play own ball, not best shot, still the tips we were given helped at ambrose.

Just bear in mind that there will be a few experienced riders who ride these roads every day, also be peeps that have had their bikes less than a week. Whatever your pace you will fit in just fine but dont jump in over your head cause it gets real messy real fast.

Would be good to meet up though. What bike you planning on picking up?

As I said to you the other day. I dont dislike the "ride your own ride speech", I dislike the *need* for the "ride your own ride speech"

You coming tomorrow night?
