I have some new designer scratches on the left hand side of the 9. First time in over 60,000km the fairings have been introduced to the road. It was the bizzareist lie down I have ever seen but I was pretty pissed off. I parked under the sign at pio pio for a photo shoot then walked up the road to get my camera then took a photo and then waited for everyone else to get their bikes sorted and walked back to it to hear monie yelling to catch my bike. I was about 30m away and nothing I could do except watch my bike fall over at 0.00003km/hr. Broke my indicator which was a real hassle cause then I couldnt use it for the rest of the trip!

Not mint!

Following Yod up 8 mile cheered me up a little bit.

FMS!

Have to look at a paint job for it now.

May I suggest Black?

You too Sarge! I started to head north yesterday afternoon, but ended up with a frozen aching hand. Decided stuff this and headed home.:cold:

I bought a whole pile of electrical stuff to install those "Man Grips", but they are going to be a mission. I'm starting to wonder if I wasted my time and money. That new controller by the way is a "click" type, so I wouldn't imagine you'd have to hold the buttons down. Just a shame the supplied bracket is completely useless, so I'll have to make my own if I install them.

I contacted Kerry on Friday about my starting issue. He gave me some good battery advice (Be patient) and that may have been the issue. Failing that, he narrowed it down to the starter motor (dirty/worn) or sprag clutch $$$$$ beyond belief. Cross fingers!
Yeah mate, not really getting my head 'round winter this year for some reason, must be owning a Kawasaki, made me all soft... :killingme ha ha, that'll go down like the Hindenburg!!

Hope the battery was your issue in the end mate, sounds like a bit of a chase around the mullberry bush like Bassa had with the 14.

Gonna head to Manfeild late morning, see the guys out there and have a perv at R-Dog's new R1 which I think he's supposed to be bring down today.
Had a good long look at one that was racing yesterday (privateer) and I was pleasantly surprised. And then again I saw one going in the opposite direction on the way home yesterday.

Thats exactly what I was thinking lol.

Just got back from a days marshalling at Manfeild. Excellent day and good to see a few of the locals at lunchtime. The last two races were called off as there were quite a few crashes and they ran out of medical staff. One girl got run over - ouch! I believe she's alright tho thank god. Apart from that it was a great experience and good to see how it all fits together.

Sorry to hear of the mishaps yesterday, the cold is real offputting. Having suffered through some pretty cold spells myself I think I've beaten it by wearing LOT's of layers and getting the mangrips, best investment for a long time. Had a couple of slides on greasy roads going to Wellie yesterday though.

Might take a little excursion ride out that way on the saturday to check on the state of the route after this weekends little southeaster !

I have to say the ride home from work last night was quiet interesting thats for sure :eek5:
I know I signed up for the grand challenge and have an across australia offroad adventure trip on the cards for the spring but I didn't expect to be practising for it last night :sweatdrop

The rain wasn't quite horizontal and the wind was only blowing like a small whirling dervish in gusts so I suppose I shouldn't be such a girl and TTFU:crybaby: I just so hate getting the blue beast dirty.

The leaves, moss, small brooks and branches made for a interesting slalom such that the gravel on greens road was almost easy

Hopefully it will all blow away and be blue skies and sunshine for the event :sunny: It was gorgeous by the time I landed in auckland this morning:yes:

Few of us planning a pootle saturday so maybe join you if you want some mixed ability riders to check it out.

Napier and Wellie visitors all keen to join in so should be a few of us heading south. We shall have to stay off the rum at the party but if the ANZA escpade anything to go by probably a good thing for me, my head wasn't clear for days

Well all I can say is who cares the weather type lol, can't ride for another 2 weeks so roll on 11th July. Then let it be fine.

I did say when told you can't drive for 4 weeks, did that mean I can ride, the look of disgust from doctor(house surgeon)summed it up,blooody 'nother crash victim in wait or similar, the physio nurse was ok as he is about to get his learners for bikes.

No how ya feel Al,head into shed and look at bike longingly,is that love?

So I guess there are no 14's where you are? That's just wrong! Still, Kwaka 600 side by side could be a laugh, take it easy over there dude.
BTW, the RF does'nt do bad burn outs actually, lap of Manfeild was pretty slow due to the lack of rear grip after the burn out and Yod was riding a bit average that day. Don't worry Yod, we all have our off days...

Quite. But I thought that you were making quite a good job of nailing the fairing back together and the exhaust looks so much better pointing straight up. Good luck getting the front wheel out of the radiator and trying to get the footpegs level with one another...

Try a rolling burnout into a nice high wheel stand... so much fun! lack of tread causes the rather tasty burnout but as it heats up and you transfer a little weight rearward in a quick snap it grips and lofts the front.

Childish yes...

Fun...hell yes,
but only if the tyre is already pretty much terminal. And as I have somehow managed to reduce a rear to showing over 10 strands of belt uninterrupted the entire way round the tyre, I think the patient is a goner...

was thinking yesterday that it seems a little unbalanced in mid corner if you encounter bumps, not bad, just a little out of whack, maybe front and rear shocks/rebound/damping aren't set the same? she just seems to boogie a bit from front to rear....

a bit down on power - reeeaaally down in the mid range to what i'm used to but it seems to ride fine, found myself having to pick it up a bit after tipping in as it's much easier to move around and i'm used to the big-arsed-honda , the 180 rear might have something to do with that too, i always had a 170 on mine....too quiet for me though, can't hear a bloody thing over 80km, (same as mine)

engine seems strong, revs out well.....umm.....;) i notice your legs are more cramped and your feet seem higher than the bird, a little more 'sports', and the gear lever i find more cramped to change up with my big feet lol

that seat is nice and comfy, a bit slippery though, haven't tried the corbin on it yet

just rolled it over 13000 miles btw

oohh nice write up lol

I haven't ridden many bikes to know what feels right and what feels wrong, how the bike rides at the time I just adapt to it I guess..

Yeah yeah i know th ebird packs a bigger punch you show off lol...

The cramped riding style I do agree with, I thought it was a sports tourer but seems more like my legs are up around my ears all the time, I always get cramp in the hip flexors and that would be why..Im thinking the seat is a low cut one so maybe the corbin might change that??? You could try that..If it works might have a buyer after all :)

I haven't noticed any bouncing around however, I did on the monster now that thing was insane for movement in the rear so the RF fealt really sold... COuld have something to do with the extra 30kg on it's back now?? lol

well after being off the bike for the last month it was great to get out for a wee flick so horse lesson done & 20 mins to gear up & get to shannon .. arrived at garage and the partners in crime were coming up the road .. perfect timing, headed to foxton beach for a wee snack & great catch up before heading back to himitangi wines to wait for the charity riders ( the partners headed home) .. quite a group there but with the rain and running well behind time the main bunch headed directly to levin while sinfull came to get the rest of us .. so nice slightly quicker ride back to levin & caught up with a few ppl I have not seen for yrs & yrs ..

from all accounts the Charity ride made a good amount of $$ the rain mostly held off for the ride (I did not get wet at all  but thats wot you get when you stay local)

awesome wee ride Carmen & Mo .. lets do it again soon

A great weekend as I managed to get out both days and stay dry:woohoo:
Saturday Jake and I went out for Lollies....for him of course;)
A nice pootle in to town to check out 86's bike and then to Ashhurst as the `lollie connoisseur' says they have the best options. He is getting quite comfortable on the bike now:yes:

Sunday was a `mental health` ride...funny seeing steam coming out of ears when helmets are removed:gob: Foxton via Shannon for a caffine fix and fantastic company...just what the Doctor ordered....it doesn't get much better.

Yes was definately a "mental health" ride, just what the doctor ordered.
Really needed that ride and coffee. And of course time for the steam to disappear. Glad we missed the rain. Drove over to Masterton in the late arvo and it was totally disgusting coming back around 6pm last night.

It a very heavy wind here, that in it's self ain't quite so bad but through the f'ing heavy gusts that join about every 15 seconds and i'm not that keen at the moment. If you get caught out in this and add some rain with this high wind could blow in in the drop of a hat and it could end up being one nasty/dangerous ride, sounds like a lot of what if's but given the time of year highly possible, at least if the wind dropped considerably rain would during the ride would'nt mean squat in the larger picture.

I know how you feel T .. been there & done that .. if its a constant strong wind its easier to ride than gusts that blow you around suddenly. however babe yes you can add it to the experienced list and when you do upgrade to a heavier bike its not as bad as the lighter 250's

And here was me, thinking at the time, you would probably growl at me for getting too cocky with the take off.

That's the last time I spend all that time in the kitchen cooking you toasties for tea.

On a serious note, I think I could do with a few pointers (and some more experience) before I take on wind gusts like that again.

Duly noted, we'll see what the weekend brings, been to Southwards but that was eons ago. I myself will probably head straight to Manfeild, particularly if it's not the best weather wise.
Cheers for the heads up.
