ok. I am starting this thread for organised rides in Manawatu.
This thread is for requesting/organising rides ONLY.
No shit talking. No discussion on anything else. Take it here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=55645&page=261) to discuss ride reports or talk shit. This is only for ride dates, times and routes and to say if you are coming or not.
Keep it tidy and it will be alot easier to keep track of.
Cheers.
BTW. dont even think of replying to this saying it is a good idea or not. If you post in this thread it has to have a date/time/route or be commenting on a suggested change of plan or suggestion.
as you were.

Anyone intersted in a ride to meet up with the YODs and their new example of two wheel perfection embodied in CBR flesh?
Either Taupo or somewhere closer like Turangi or Taihape?
After a play on something windy of course.

Planning for saturday the 31st of May but will postpone to sunday the 1st of June if weather is a no go on saturday.
If sunday is crook too might put it off until the following saturday.
Ride to Napier via Dannevirke - Wimbledon - Porangahau - Waipukurau - Waipawa - Patangata - Elsthorpe - Havelock North - Napier.
Return passage can be discussed over lunch.
Meet at Dannevirke BP fuel up and plan  to leave there by 9:30.
At the Porangahau point i'd quite like to take the diversion the Bonez showed Yod and I a few months back, quite a nice stretch of road and something different than the usual trek from Porangahau to Waipukurau. :niceone:
Sweet.
Sweet, look foward to seeing the new colour scheme.
Sorry mate, i've kinda opened my mouth already.
Chose saturday because it gives us a day to play with if the weather was too flash saturday.
Monday will be another good squirt out to catch up with Sandra on her way back from the Gut buster rally.
shall we kick off a loose plan for Monday? Unless there's already one in the works?
how about 9-10am in Ashhurst, I'm assuming Sandra will wanna head back through 54, so we could head out Halcombe and up SH1 to Hunterville?

Want to try and depart at 9:30 but you know, give or take a bit, so maybe look at arriving at 9:00 to 9:15.
Maybe want to top up the fuel there too.

ok guys got a bit of feedback today re the manawatu rides from those from other areas who have real trouble finding them .. since the main thread is full of banter etc and this one is suppose to be just weekend rides and kept clean
If we can leave this thread to links to rides you might post individually so if those from neighbouring areas can find it easily .. so banter etc can remain in that thread rather than clogging up all the threads we have going .. (like the fundraiser ride)
so can we just post links to rides that are organised or short notice rides
Remember some ppl can only get on every few days or weeks & makes it to hard to try & scroll through pages to find if there is a ride on ..
Moved 83 posts to the manawatu rides thread
cheers

Still departing from Ashhurst Gary?
Could you maybe confirm a little earlier? Even half an hour would be good.
Mind you if it's a good day i'll probably be riding by then anyway but an earlier confirmation would still be good so as if there's anyone from over this way wants to go it gives them time to sort their shit out and get there.

Ok Sarge on account of the fact your alot bigger than me I'll release some of the top secret details.
Might as well be Ashhurst garage as everyone knows where it is and it most central for all riders.
Departure time will be 1.00pm sharp.
Since its a democracy we will vote on a choice of 3 rides:
One is east, one is north, and one is west. Whatever rides get the most votes/support after the election is it.
Sort of like typical Sunday afternoon ride.
Regrouping at regular waypoints and slower riders will be leading the way.
If theres more than ten riders I shall provide a gift to be drawn by lottery.
Etc, etc, etc.

Any more thoughts on this? Saturday is looking like the only day for riding this weekend, sunday is looking like a shocker!
might be in for a ride next weekend - have another work booze-up next friday too, which involves 4-wheeled teams racing, so that should be a hoot - will be staying clear of the jager tho...a bit too drinkable
Don't get too sozzled, riding while resisting throwing up in one's helmet would'nt be too entertaining...:puke:

Excuse the vagueness.
Weather dependant on either the 26th or 27th (which ever shapes up to be the best day) a ride to Castle Point (CP) and then over the Rimutaka's down the the Lower Hutt motorway, over the Paekak hill and back up the west coast.
I think the Rimutaka's might be optional on the day.
What say y'all?
Discuss it in the talking crap thread, will decide perhaps friday evening wether to ride saturday or sunday.

Planning a decent ride as "practice" for the GC. Will be riding in the same way we attack the GC - 1,000km distance with 3 short stops, not a race, may plan later start time so get in some night riding. Tentative date is 13th Sept and have a route in mind (includes nasty little back roads as per GC). More soon...
Will start another thread/calendar dohickey when firmed things up a bit. :scooter:

Right-o then, this is me trying again.
Since last weekend (despite the metvuw website saying it was'nt going to be too bad) was a wash out....literally.
Anyone care for a wee ride this weekend? I was thinking maybe look at around the 300km mark give or take a 100 or so. Just enough to satisfy the need.
I realize that the dinner is on saturday though but that does'nt mean one could'nt get a leg over (the bike) for a wee pootle.

I'm going to start riding the local twisties as of Oct 2nd or 3rd after work. Anyone wanting to come for a short blast is welcome. Going to try a different loop each time, with some cross overs.
Aimed at any 2 stroke riders, sportbike riders and anyone who smiles the tighter a road gets. I don't care if you ride a 250 or a HayaBusa as long as your riding for the enjoyment of it.
Meet up details and timings to follow, but will probably change each ride, sometimes, BP Feilding, Mobil Manfeild, BP Rangitikei in Palmy, Mobil Ashhurst etc, depending on the route.
If one shows up cool, if a bunch do even better. If know one does, I'll still have fun :chase:

Keep it for posting rides only, easy to find the rides then or there was a suggestion we just post the rides on the calender

Don't feel you have to ride any different than you normally would. The rides organised on here are social rides not time trials and with Chancey organising this ride no ones going to be left behind.
See you there should be a good turnout of bikes.

Getting yelled at for waking up the dead from last nights game haha. Bonus of having the garage attached to the house - EVERYONE gets to know when the bikes start up. They deserve it. :apint:
Only 5 of us have made it out to our bikes this morning. Then it was 4. We lost the 5th when he threatened to throw up in his helmet and we discussed his options if he drowned. No one was prepared to perform CPR - funny that.

Beautiful day for a cruise around the bays :scooter: .....very picturesque, lovely calm sea...lots of pink things on bikes. On return they drew raffles and certain jammy people won very nice prizes!!
We split up for the return trip ...one lot off to coffee and pitstop and the other did their favourtie `twisty`hill. Met up again in Waikanae then pootled off home.

Still some fucked up post shifting going on. Why was Monies ride suggestion post moved?
Was wondering the same thing myself bonez, it would appear someone still has a vandetta against some of us, and i am not pointing the finger at Chancey
Sarah is fine although a little pissed off. Her bike lost power at the bottom of the rimutakas, Welly side as we were about to head over. It appears there is something wrong with the alternator and its charging too much, metled the fuse. She called SOS recovery to pick her bike up and it took 4 hours by the time her bike was on the trailor and we were heading home. Long story.
So we sat on the bottom of the takas watching the bikes go over the hill and back again, Thank god it was a nice day and i had good company or i may have lost my hair :eek5:

Ouch! Anza charge about $800-$900 for this service, but Kerry will be cheaper. Plus I've already done airfilter, plugs and purchased a BMW fuel filter in Oz for $37. Identical Triumph part is over $100 here which is part of that service.

I'm in for a part ride 13th CtC. Family BBQ on pm. Maybe all meet beforehand somewhere, go as a group, check out the bikes, and take it from there.
I've been told to watch out for 2 way traffic, burping Harley riders on the way back.

Who is doing the Toy Run from Feilding this Saturday?
Thought we could meet about 11am, and go a long way round, and end up in Feidling about 12ish.

Doing the overtime thing so unsure if I'll make it at this stage. Usually a good wee ride around some of the local back roads.

I'll be going but might meet ya in Fielding - got stuff to do Sat morning so wouldn't make the 11am departure. BTW they take a while to kick off so no need to be too early. Although, the badges tend to run out...
I have a test ride booked at 11am unfortunately...:D:cool:
Take it on the run? Plenty of time to take the test ride & still get over to Fielding anyway.

Well don't know what everyone else was doing today but I decided to take a ride towards the lake Taupo area. Nice weather, not many trucks, plenty of police(and at Taihape I think they had one of those new cameras in action) and plenty of fellow bikers on the road.
If there's one thing I noticed on my trip and that's the bad condition of parts of SH1 between Taihape and Taupo. So many stretches of baldness and with the hot weather making them gooey and lack of grip. Other parts of the road were very uneven with many depressions which cause the bad sort of viabrations.
Anyway here's a few pics.

This isn't a ride as such, unless you think of it as a rock n roll ride  There's a Zeppelin tribute band playing at that bar just down from Cuba on Saturday nite, bet they'll be bloody good! $20.00 8pm. I'll check out ticket sales tomorrow if anyone's keen, I'm in  (come on Garry and Bonez, you're old r&r farts from way back lol)

Righto then, time to think about sorting a ride to Wanganui on Boxing day.
We need a meeting place probably in either Palmy and/or Feilding, a route and a meeting and departure time. An idea of who is interested in riding as a group over to Wanga's. I know of one person from the Hawke's Bay crew that has voiced an interest in maybe meeting up along the way too.
Thought's?
BTW, racing is scheduled to begin racing at 11am so I reckon maybe arrive an hour before hand so we can have a squize around the place. If it's hot don't forget hydration and sunscreen.

Good shit Sarge. I suggest we LEAVE the main BP Feilding at 0900, do Halcombe, Marton, Marton Reserviour, Turakina Valley, Wanga's. That's a great ride to start the day. Either that or straight up the main line which is quicker and we'll see lot's more bikes. And :Police: too if previous BD's are anything to go by. Don't forget shorts or cooler clothes either.

I'll be heading over too. Got a good ticket through work. Brian will be coming too - not sure what our plans are for leaving etc but this gives us an option. Probably taking the Connie and all me luggage to lock away gear so that the t-shirt's & shorts can be put into action.
Don't forget cameras for the Britten!

Non-commital eh? I feel a bit like that too. Might just get off my butt and walk the hound instead. Looking forward to Wanganui on Friday...
Yeah it's the lazy sunday thing I guess.:sleep:Normally out the door like a shot.
Whats the plan for Friday? I was going over with Father-in-law, but we could easliy join up with a group if ones planned. Do ya know of a place to but gear while watching the racing? Have fun with ya hound, our dane is slow lazy, it makes watching grass grow exciting.

There's been a bit of discussion about it back a few pages: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=73009&page=45. Still not sure what I'm doing but could join up for the ride over. My ticket (freebie) is in a stand somewhere - dunno where everyone else is...The good thing about Wanganui is that you can roam around the place pretty easily.
