Not up for a large one tomorrow, want to head to Manfeild at a reasonable hour. Gotta see what the weather is like too, sounds like it's gonna be ok.
Sunday sounds like it'll be good for a decent ride.

Next time you go up,there are a few back roads around Tariki area, looking at the map you were in the area or thereabouts. Can go quite a few roads from Inglewood inland via Tarata,Tariki, and out about Toko, then onto back of Ngaire and out at Eltham area.

The mountain has been conspicuous by it's absence last 2 times I've been up Pembroke Rd,and only 5 km from park boundary, great views when snow capped, and with good binoculars can see people almost skiing.

Yep, sister is in Tariki Rd South. Did some back roads on the C1KC that bypassed Hawera (thank goodness) and wouldn't mind finding some more. Hate the main road from here to the 'naki - except for those delicious corners just North off Wanganui...

Not many where you can bypass Hawera, although turning off at Mountain Rd north of Eltham, onto Austin,Turuturu,Ohangai rds past Tawhiti Museum(a must see) and out at Main rd is ok.

There is a few roads off Tariki Rd,which takes you to Beaconsfield Rd? and end up south of Toko(by cemetary) on outskirts of Stratford. Can be boring from Hawera to Waitotara, then onto goat valley is ok.Then again you can make good time up if no cops on main road though.Shame there is no back route as such to bypass Patea and Waverley, just a few loop roads which still come onto SH3.

Weather permitting and i'm near certain it will be going to be by the forecasts and the feel of it outside (crispy!) I think I might take a ride through to Hastings tomorrow, probably via Middle road and perhaps back through HW50, if anyone is keen probably look at meeting at the Vegas BP at 10 am to leave 10:30ish.

Body feels pretty good, even the twisty bits didn't agravate ribs, but the odd bump was felt, still 6 weeks on feels good.

Enjoyable (slow)ride lol,and the Shoei is a damn fine lid, little bit of wind noise to suss out.Be good when weather stays like this, even daylight at 5.30pm.

Yea, it was ultra mint!
I know it was late notice and all but given the weather we've been having and given the weather today i'm mildly surprised there were no takers today.
Anyhow, i got to hand at my mates place most of the arvo and checked out his new Black VTR, all apart from a bodgie wing mirror it's in top nick.

Sounds like there was some pretty mint riding going on all over. I ditched work early arvo, couldn't wait to get out. Saddle was in quite good nick and the gorge has some new seal. Shadows caused a couple of moments and there was a fair amount of damp patches and stones on the road as well. Sharp lookout required but awesome run

Can the mount go a little higher? Good though, just suss out the wobbly bit and it'll be good. The only thing is though if you intend to film other bikers with it they'll be constantly going in and out of shot but if you're intend the view to be of the road, scenery and such it'll be great.

its not the road surface. its the rubber mounting on the fairings/camera. One little bump and the camera shakes for 20 seconds. In the process of fixing it though.

If I wanted to record other riders (except kwakas) I would have it pointing backwards!!!.. TBH is is much less distracting on the side of the bike too. On top of the bike it keeps catching my eye when I am cornering. Where it is now I forget about it.

In an effort to be the odd one out and actually post a ride in the ride thread here we go.

Plan is to leave Ashhurst at 7am sat morning to head to wellys for this...

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=102931

motomarts suspension day. BBQ and plenty of people to chat with.

Hang round there for a little bit and then I am going to head over to tithi bay for lunch. All welcome as Ruthie and Gareth love seeing the bikes show up and cook a pretty decent feed. (not all from motomart cause that could just get a bit silly).

Then weather dependant will decide on a route home. looking at being back in town about 4pm.

Be interesting to see what that's like, still have the Scorpion "All in" jacket in the back of my mind but I might talk to Sam about it first as it's sure to need modifications if I bought it, short of that I think it's the style of jacket i'd go for if I get Sam to make me one.

Here it is Sarge, a tidy piece of kit although I'll need to get a back protector separately for peace of mind.

Yeah still interested, that departure time certainly take the pressure of a little but I don't like chances of getting your bikes suspension looked at leaving it that late, I reckon it'll be a pretty popular day. Then again I guess you never know aye...

yeah. I think the likelyhood of getting bike checked over is sliming. But do get to ride piecock and haywards so still worth a day out. Ruthie and Gareth are keen to check out the bikes and have a chinwag. Just checking the weather and it says showers in morning and clearing in arvo so leaving at 11 it is highly likely we will miss the lot.

The idea is to get there about 1 o'clockish, i'll leave all the planning up to someone else as I have to go to Anza's in the morning and i'm not sure what time i'll be able to get away but almost certainly it won't be in time to join the rest of the people going so i'll probably end up taking the direct route via Vegas. That is if I get away at a decent hour, if I have to hang around in Palmy to lucnhtime or something it won't be worth my going.
