shouldnt it be renamed to teh coast to grassy bit in the middle of island somewhere.

It rained this morning but as forcast that blew over and it comeout dry all day. Hada good run from Himitangi to woodville and then a rapid run over the track. There just wasnt the bikes around there usually is.

Then after everyone piked out (apart from those who never bothered showing up in the first place) went for a quite pootle out to the beach on my lonesome. Ive seen more bikes on my way to work on a wed arvo. It was all a bit of a nonevent really. At least BR come out to talk to me at the beach.

You see the doggiest people on the Coast to Coast...

More pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/andrew.l.thomson/121209CoastToCoast?feat=directlink

Glad I wasn't in any of those photos, with that description.

As everyone else has said, Wet to start with, then the wind from shannon to woodville was a pain to say the least. But a good cause all the same, had to do some part of it. Good on you, those who braved the whole thing.

Pleased Monie and i showed up to go, we nearly didnt, but its a good cause and i thought we needed to support it
It was a quiet run to Woodville with a lot less bikes than previous years, i think the weather had something to do with that. Had to pull out at Woodville. First time we have done just part of it. We went car hunting in the afternoon for Monie after she wrote her last one off during the week :nono: Just her pride was hurt thankfully. Mission accomplished and we found her new wheels, not allowed to tell you what i brought for her, lets just say it reflects her personality well. Ill post a picture of it when we get it later in the week
A good day in the end, hopefully not so many things to do next year and a realy fine day to enjoy the c2c

Sounds like we'll just miss you. Leaving Xmas day, stay the nite in the Naki. Forgotton Highway Boxing Day and stay in AK for the night. Then off up the Kauri Coast to Cape Reianga and back down the east side, heading for East Cape, Gizzy and home by the 31st. Should be a most FMS ride.

Nearly did the C2C, but looked at the weather and decided to carry on painting this flat which is now looking much better.

Good to hear Monie escaped unscathed and now has a hot rod!

Awesome ride on RTIII today :ride:

Owe Horse a huge hot chocolate or more likely a large bottle of whisky :2thumbsup:

Met Patriots in town and we headed to Woodville to meet a few more riders including some of the Ulyssess group from Masterton. All rode to Masterton for the Suzuki/Ulyssess Christmas charity run. Food for the womens refuge this year and an orange scooter in the raffle :2thumbsup:

Fun ride and whilst the 'light drizzle' at Mount Bruce was a little heavier than expected the screen protected my 'cruiser gear' (Hornees n Triumph jacket) nicely.

After the social side Lovey n I decided to take the scenic route home. At last I have had a good run over the takkas with little traffic and no breakdowns.

RTIII handled like a total dream, never thought I would really have such fun riding a cruiser. Light, responsive and awesome power. Anybody considering a cruiser I would recommend you try one of these (I have already asked Kerry to work out how to swap engine into a modification of the blue beast once I win lotto :innocent:)

I only scraped it on the 2nd corner on K valley and then behaved myself as it isn't mine

Not the  of my life but in the contest when I turn into an old fat :buggered:

I digress, great ride, company and cause. Apparently runs every year so put it in you diaries for 2010, told Suzuki to advertise more too.

Considering the forecast it has been a good day to :ride:, always is if wearing the right gear though.Hope all had fun out there and that Bikeoi went well.

Post ride I ran into a few Cold Duck buddies in George Street and made it home just before the rain :sunny:

Another awesome Manawatu summer day

Beast is ready and roaring to go I hear :wari:

If you are going to Fleetwood Mac tomorrow I will be trying out the new Pink KB shirt so come say hi

I took a good ride up to PN today and hung round the square a bit...not a bad place for the Carols aye...heaps of activity going on, and a lot of skimpily clad kids about...I am sure the teenagers are looking younger and younger...Cracker of a day up there....some nice coffee about too...

Came home this evening through a heavy shower just out of Shannon and also heaps of wind...thought I was gonna lose it for a second

Planned to screech along to the carols myself but didn't quite make it.

If you were wearing a mac and handing out toffees you would have been in trouble

I was so chuffed with the ride on the RTIII yesterday and then to get home and find out the Daytona was ready, grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

Great ride today too:sunny:
Horse pillioned me on the RTIII and CD Rich was the outrider so a triumph run

Great weather and an easy run to Opunake in a bit of a breeze. I just told Rich to ride faster , it works for me and if nothing else makes you smile. It is the slow stuff in high winds that worries me.Especially since the no-speed drop in Auckland in a gale.

The Beast was looking pristine(as always when he gets released from hospital). New rim on the front and the back one had not a scratch to be seen :2thumbsup: Still had white ribbons intact tooo

Bizzare, it has grown taller and got lighter and slimmer in the few weeks it has been away

Maybe it is just the change from riding the RTIII the last few days but it was really weird for a minute. Never like putting on an old slipper, more like slipping into a comfy racing boot  just this time it was a high heeled version..

Quick refreshments and we headed in seperate directions as I had a concert to catch:wari:

Opunake to NP wasn't far enough to even warm the bike up so I was almost disappointed to find the stadium. Roads werer dry and pretty empty as the cops had kindly sent everybody else via Stratford.

Fleetwood Mac were on really good form, well worth the trip :wari:

Caught up with a few more Cold Duckies and got lots of compliments on the new PINK KB shirt from bikers and general pissed concert goers.

Perhaps we should have gone for Pink ACC shirts, no that would have been a challenge, getting rufty tufty biker guys to wear pink :innocent:

Met some cool people on the way out as a result of the Blue Beast, one girls dad has a daytona in Australia (see some Aussies have good taste ) and Mike has done 45km on his new Bandit since he picked it up today. He was so taken with the Beast that he gave me his card without telling me his name. Hopefully the person I emailed and sent KB way does own a bike and it wasn't some random card he had in his wallet .

Anyway hopefully a new rider in Hamilton who has a new Bandit. He aspires to a Triumph one day apparently so that is a positive sign.

Once I escpaed the throngs departing NP the roads opened up enough for some lane splitting until Hawera and then I could leave the masses behind and let the bike do what it does best (no not breakdown, that was before the 1050 alternator) and get me down the road in style and sharpish. Didn't go mad after a long fun day and with damp roads and a new tyre. Still home and tucked up by 230am so all good.

Bonus of time off is all the rides you can fit in for sure

had an awesome ride up to the Waikato on xmas day .. no real traffic to speak of & only 3 cops all around Taihape. (love travelling xmas day - can be anti social with good reason)

had xmas lunch (sandwich) by Lake Taupo just past mission bay & it was a stunner, ditched most of the excess clothing & was at least 10degrees warmer than when I left home

brilliant run but tons of melted tar which was a wee bit fun on a few corners but made the 5 hour trip well under that & suprised the olds

just popped out to Bro's to charge the ipod & clear the emails only wearing jeans & tee (under jacket) & fark its hot hot hot .. but nice to have a blip for sure ..

see most of you in a few days or so .. family lunch & dinner morrow :chase: but the bike is sure calling my name

Sounds good but the 14 has an issue and i'm not sure if I can sort it by friday so I may just trundle along to dinner, what did you have in mind?

what up with the 14?

It's missing at low revs under a light throttle load, i'm suspecting the battery is past it's used by date or possibly knackered plugs as it is past due it's service milage, needs further investigation but i'm hoping it's not plugs as if it is I might as well wait and get the service done ($$$$!!) but AFC don't open in the New Year until the 5th..

JUst been out and fired up the bike, I dunno about my battery theory, pushing 14.3 volts and peaked at 14.5, pretty normal, kinda think plugs are needed.

the wind yesterday sure made riding "adventurous" to say the least. Windy from Taupo down, doing just over 120 across the plateau & was a mission just staying on the road, the lean angle must have been rather interesting as Mr plod looked but did not pull me over figured I was having enough trouble keeping her upright as it was.

Flat hills, & V Hill was a bit like a washing machine wind from both sides at once, but Cheltenham to feilding was prob almost as bad as D road :sweatdrop:

pleased to be home for sure, New chain & tires are definitely required as chain is snatching alot (sprockets are not worn though) and rear tire is pretty sad  but its done over 15,000 k so pretty happy with that. :sunny:

Yeah riding in high wind sucks!

How long since you last lubed the chain? If it's shiney as and has'nt been lubed in a good few hundred km's i'd say lube it before you rush in and put new chain and sprocket's on it.
The chain on my bike gets all snatchy when it's dry too and there next to no sprocket wear.. If your sprockets were knackered then that'd be a different story..

Pauly has had a look & chain is tight in some spots, I had not noticed it, but sugi also mentioned it, however felt it when I was doing slow speeds in town at Te Aroha, & yup now I can feel it.

Conscenus from more experienced ppl than myself (Pauly :Punk: - Sugi  and busted had a nosey :sunny: ) is that sprockets are not worn & a new chain will surfice.

umm  I dunno, how can you tell ? and from memory I think Pauly said there are several tight spots & some loose so chain is out of whack, It keeps loosening off quite a bit as well, its been adjusted 3 times in the last two months. of course being 2 up for capital 1000k ride I knew it needed adjusting again. Way to end the year and decade that is(counting 2000 as first year).

Saw sign at Brewers Apprentice on Weds saying 500gm(1/2kg)steak,salad and chips $15.00,but forgot to try,and kids were home.Hopefully they do it again.

:lol: I was thinking 30km just for gas is a bit of a waste. Car runs 91, bike 95 or so

Run car on 95 lol.Syphon is your friend, lawn mower gas has been known to get used by me,and friggin kids when I had a 10ltr tank would grab it,used to think the mower was thirsty lol, seems use a tank on mower, refill mower for next time, and next time container empty.Fixed that by getting 5lt container after kids LOST the lid to old one.
