Thanks guys, be great if you could fine out - otherwise, we'll just find somewhere else

If it's closed go to either the cheesecake shop, it's o.k. or the beyond the bridge cafe just over the balance bridge, I think it is o.k.:niceone:

Beyond the bridge cafe would be better I reckon, Crazyhorse, if there is a lot of you just let them know and when to avoid disappointments.

Shall I stick my neck out and say 9.30-10am? See what sort of response I get, doesn't look like anyone is on line yet, must have been up all night chasing tags:rolleyes:

After lunch, would be best for me. Got my dad coming to visit sometime this morning.

But don't hold off for me unless it suits everyone else too. Weather ok here in town for now, but may not hold

Just looked at the met service, you guys should go early. I will head out later if I can still handle the conditions around then.

There's way more air than water in even the heaviest shower. Rather be riding than not.

Unfortunately wife's back to school this weekend so another day of daddy daycare :baby:

Had an excellent wee ride ourselves

Got to the Mobile and decided it may be a bit wet in them there hills. So it was a matter of picking an alternate and going with that. Halcombe Hill via the backroads is always a blast and even the damp wasn't too bad.

Got to the top and Banditrider thought he may trade up to a Triumph and took the Tiger for a good thrash and I got to sample the mighty VTR! Very fun machine it is too! :niceone:

Tried to find the secret tag without much luck so back to Bulls for the latte.

Thanks to some brilliant thinking from Flynn we got online at the info centre and Michelle quickly recognised the latest tag  So off we went and were lead expertly right to it :woohoo:

Pics duely taken it was back to mine to load em up before we were beaten too it - sorry KK

Back to Ashhurst, cuppa with Cowboyz and now luxuriating in front of the fire.

Great to meet the newest additions to the clan, Matt and Sparkles. Keep up the good work lads :niceone:

I class the bandit as poor mans' connie, less power, ride etc,but $10grand to spend if ya want to.

Start at bottom working way up,would've liked could be Triumph Sprint but similar costs of 4 yr old(03-04 model had a few faults apparently) vs 1 yr old with warranty,a Sprint turned up at neighbours on weekend and was bloody nice in red,and comfy ride.

Excellent ride today. Perfect weather and great company.

AND, I sampled the Connie! Now I have a problem. I WANT one!

Huge thanks to Andrew for trusting me with his prize possession. I hadn't really expected to sample this bike in his lifetime but I'm extremely glad I did.

First impression was the weight. Some 280 kgs, some 85 kgs heavier than the Tiger. Thanks to the lowish seat height this wasn't an issue manoeuvering in the carpark at the Ohingiati Pub carpark, although I wasn't game enough to try and sqeeze through the narrow gap between a parked car and some bikes. So manhandling it into a U turn was required which was surprisingly easy.

I managed to get it over some gravel and onto SH1. I'd promised Andrew I wouldn't do anything to give him heart failure and as it turned out there was no need as we cruised down towards the Vinegar Hill turnoff.

I did give it a bit of throttle and was rewarded by a very powerful response and a very smooth ride. There's bags of power and the bike tracks in a very predictable and stable manner.

The thing I really loved about it was the solid and safe feel that is imparted. It sits so well on the road and the weight is a real advantage as it plants the thing exactly where you want it to go. Apparantly this gives it real stability in the wet as well.

Those mirrors. Wow. The view behind is very good and they provide great wind protection for your hands. You even get a view of most of your own gear as well, if you're interested.

I tried the legendary electric screen, and yep, the different positions sure do make a difference. There's an odd push in the back sensation as the screen rises to it's full height which I'd imagine is caused by a pressure differential as you're cocooned in the bikes protective bubble of weatherproofness.

The fairings keep ALL windblast off your legs so I'd imagine you wouldn't get wet legs in the rain, which means a warm (ish) ride during wet cold days.

I had to give it back at the top of the Hill :weep: so I really didn't get to sample her in the twisties, but I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself if the worst came to the worst.

But I managed a couple of rolling U turns instead which inspired me with confidence.

I can certainly see why Connie riders love them, as they say, it's a lot of bike for the money. If I had the readies I'd certainly get one.

Getting back on the Tiger felt like riding a trail bike and I immediatedly noticed how much wind get's through the gaps compared with the weatherproof seal of the Concourse.

Thanks again Andrew, I can sure see how addictive the Connies are and how easy it'd be do do the miles on em

Yes, you were far more polite than my old man when he rode it. He made sure that he rode it all the way through the Hill to Cheltenham and I was stuck on his tractor with the old lady for a pillion...

Good spin today despite only doing the V Hill bit of the ride, a wee trundle though there convinced me a new rear tyre might be in order...
I actually went up to the Kimbolton cafe and waited there as I thought the plan was to go there for coffee mid ride but never mind, had a pleasant coffee and some french toast.

Rumour has it a certain cb550f was out and about today. First time I've been out in months. Shes been sitting for over 8 months without a run, maybe more- air in the tyres, freshly charged battery, drain the carbs, fuel tap on, a few kicks on the kick start lever(remember those), then search the brain cells for the "correct" starting proceedure from cold(took a while)-3/4 choke-4 kicks-hit the starter-brooom!!!!!!!!!! Hmm one more thing...now what was it-oh yes peice of string from key to handle bars in case the key pops out.

Quiet 190km toddle for the most part apart from the occassional 160kph run on a secluded private road. Katman would be proud. Had forgotten how smooth Ronda is. Tyres need replacing cause they're a bit worn/hard/old. Anyway lifes good. I'm still alive in case anyone was wondering  Just taking it easy and saving the pennys.

Sounds like a good weekend was had by all.
I even managed to go for a little ride. Headed out Rangitikei line to Awahuri, then through to Feilding and out the back heading to Halcome. Started to wonder about my petrol situation (really need to figure out how that reserve works properly), saw a turn off for Mt Stewart (after a Smoke stop) Headed back that way, felt pretty good about the road, and my skills on it. Probably helped having done part of the same road on Saturday with the boys on a tag setting mission. Back on the main road to town. Not the ride you guys did, but enough for my little bike and skills. Had fun, that is the main thing.

Meanwhile, young Sam unfortunately broke his leg doing a monster wheelie at the Cold Kiwi so it was a 4 am wait at A&E for someone to finally get around to putting him in a cast! Bit knackered today but the boy's alright. Apparantly it was a goodie right to the end

A fine weekend's motorcycling. Started off bright and early and I think it's highly likely we'll see a new Kwaka around the traps ;) After a spontaneous decision made for some 'retail therapy' three of us headed to WMC and a new blue Buell has now made it's maiden voyage to these here parts  Had an amazing moonlit ride home, man, what a perfect night.

I'm very jealous:calm:

Nice bike well done.

Hopefully kids heal quickly, and lucky(if leg breaking is so)to be in hospital here not 70km away, doesn't sound far but visiting daily is costly and time consuming.Similar to us in Taranaki, travel to NP-Hawera similar distance, leave home 5pm get home 9pm,and visit 2 hours.

Where would all us be without their mums eh.

Hey all
Yes I have succumbed to a dose of Retail Therapy and traded `The Beastie` on........a `Thrust Blue` Uly'. Hmmm whats in a name huh (Thanks Chanceyy:bleh:) It is extremely quiet though and runs very differently than the other one.
Main diffs: Sound-no where near as cool!:oi-grr:, Windscreen has a `lip`-much better and less wind noise, supposedly 30kgs lighter-I think it is lighter but could be my over active imagination:eek5:, factory settings on suspension-way way way better and feels a lot safer too:2thumbsup:, Running around town it is much happier in 1st and 2nd gears, as before there was always the chance of a stall (lots of clutch feathering)-not sure if they have done something to change the gearing but I like it. I have bought the clear film (that GSVR told me i should buy when i bought the black bike:Oops:) to cover the wearing points on the frame.

Got the call that every mother dreads-text in this case, that Sam had a broken leg and off to hospital-unfortunately it was a busy night in A&E but I was very lucky to have 86 to talk to....when he wasn't snoozing!(thanks for being there hon 0x0x:hug:) Sam got to hospital at 6.30pm and did not get seen (apart from an x-ray) until 6.30am....they were very busy.

Sam is fine and apparently it was a really cool wheelie.....kids:angry2: He got the `hard luck` award at the Cold Kiwi.

86 and I have some wickedly cool rides this summer to put some k's on the new `Trusty Thrusty`. Have to beat 19086 kms in under a year on the last bike.:woohoo:

Put the details/timings for Manawatu weekend rides here please and cross link it the Manawatu ride thread.

ok. I am starting this thread for organised rides in Manawatu.

This thread is for requesting/organising rides ONLY.

No shit talking. No discussion on anything else. Take it here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=55645&page=261) to discuss ride reports or talk shit. This is only for ride dates, times and routes and to say if you are coming or not.

Keep it tidy and it will be alot easier to keep track of.

Cheers.

BTW. dont even think of replying to this saying it is a good idea or not. If you post in this thread it has to have a date/time/route or be commenting on a suggested change of plan or suggestion.

as you were.

OK. im going for a ride tomoro leaving palmy around 7:30 ish. then stopping at mcdonalds in feilding for breakfast. then heading over vinegar hill then to taupo. anyone wants to come the whole way or part way, meet me in feilding around 8 ish:done:
