Went for a wee pootle today and came home with this....
Nice machine, but it does have a tendency to crunch your manhood under braking!
Oh good, for a moment there I thought that you'd gotten rid of a perfectly good Honda :shifty:
Bring on the GA!

Yeah, test rode the SX version but found my legs were surprisingly cramped and my heels were interfering with the pillion pegs/exhaust mounts...bit strange....
I actually found the Z750 a really cruisy seating position, I found myself pootling, (we're talking a genuine I'm-retired-and-I-couldn't-give-a-shit-about-anyone-behind-me meander here - yeah, bring on the one-liners) and totally enjoying it, on the way back to pick up the bird and decided it (or something similar; FZ6/GSR600 maybe?) would be an ideal short-medium range pootle mobile

You'll have to try the DL - the riding position is great it loves meandering, esp on windy, rough back roads. And at 4,200 revs it's in a real sweet spot - unfortunately that's getting along a little...

I'm tempted by a dual-purpose machine actually, maybe a transalp or a KLR or even an F650 beemer, or a Dorsoduro...mmmmm, they're sweeeet
And how about this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/dual-purpose/auction-380866090.htm , interesting beast...
Unfortunately, I've had a minor hiccup commonly referred to as children, so finances won't be in any fit state to be accommodating multiple motorcycles for a while yet. :crybaby:

Make sure you remind them of your sacrifices when they at the earning age - maybe they'll get guilty and hook you up...
Did you see that Super Ten on Tradme. Had 77k on it but I believe they're unbustable (and I think it was priced fairly well). Great donk in them...

Never fear, my descent into curmudgeonness is officially underway now I've past the big four-oh. The kids will suffer it's full effects when the time is right
Not that familiar with the Teneres (super or otherwise), but they look about right, mind you if a 1200 was on the cards, I might have to try out a Stelvio (http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-382809503.htm)! Quite groovy.

The time of day was getting on and considering the time of year....I'm guessing that the sun was getting a bit low, given summer I think the sun won't be an issue, no more than any other road anyhow. I didn't find it a problem on the ride maybe the camera was bit sensitive to it

Went on nice wee ride over the weekend....
Leaving on saturday heading to Gisborne via Feilding(had too drop of rear wheel that mel carried:innocent: ) then on too Ashhurst for a quick stop in at the meanies, time we got going again the rains had arrived bloody women:facepalm:
So a steady pace was set to try and out run the rain and by the time we had turned off on too SH50 we pretty much had......apart from a few damp roads from here on in we had a sweet ride and were enjoying a hot pie of 2 at Bayview BP
The remaining trip to Gizzy was a blast, very little traffic mean't we had an open road.....and the further we got the dryer the roads became although Mel was Shocked too see snow on the road side in the hills north of Nuhaka.....all good we had a great trip and were looking forward too the night ahead :drinkup:Yip another piss-up at Aunty's:shutup:
Come Sunday we headed to Katikati Via the gorge,Opokiti,Whakatane,Tauranga....Although this was a more direct route we had a blinder from Gizzy to Matawai and the second part of the Gorge as for the first part it was slowed just a little by ice and grit proberly more grit than ice actually, but the second half of the gorge was superb and the PR3's were great refuelled bodies and bike at Opokiti..... and just cruzed too katikati, enjoying the fine weather flat seas and the multitude of bikes we seen between Whakatane and Te puke(Mel called them half hour harleys:facepalm:)
Monday we went too Hamilton in the Car :angry:the gurls were on a shopping spree
Today we did a road we havent done for a very long time and even a road we have never done together on the bike...
We kept too SH1 from Tirau all the way to Rata and stopping at Taihape Couldn't believe we didn't see any HP cars until we got too the Turakina passing lane, and the desert road was brillant although I was told by a certain pillon that the pace was a little slow:innocent: which seemed werid as she asked me to slow down at Turangi as she reakons "I may have ball's but she doesn't" TBH I'm rather glad she doesn't have balls:innocent:

Well Saturday arrived and it was time too head up the road too the Cold Kiwi,as we were having others join us we headed too the meeting point, the rest off the group(2) arrived a few minutes behind us and once fuelled we made our way up the Parapara's and decided on a more direct route rather than the back roads,
The roads were in great condition and as leader I set the pace too a gentle jog..with Geoff on the CB13 and Jude on her wee VTR250 we had a nice wee group and they both enjoyed the ride as nither of them had been on there bikes for a few months...
Taking 90 minutes too reach our final destination and settling into our campsite, making sure the tent was in the right position to get the early morning sun and putting the bike away in the garage with internal access:innocent:246284
we had a good look around246288 and found some great old bikes one of which was the 47 Indian from Wgtn246285 That arrived with a group from CHCH and made camp next too us.....
We did the lunch thing and sortted the bar"most important" and just relaxed speaking of those that hadn't made the ralley and off a certain refined gentlemen with a certain hose attachment at a previous rally not that long ago:shutup:
Then who should show Steve so was a good catch up and some good laughs..
having prepaid meals was a bonus and dinnertime was a susprise as this time I was the customer and one of my regulars was the cook...Glad too see policy off fill the plate up was there.man was I full after dinner and Mel couldn't believe I knew the cook....speaking off which we were able too have a catch up and chat after dinner.... as the night came in and the bombfire was lite we gathered around too watch the scarfice of the scooter246286 too the gods of whatever you believe in
246289Mel decided it was getting cold oh she just doesn't doo cold!! but well done for being at the kiwi and making it a great weekend...will certainly do this one again and maybe it will be on the 500 and 400 :innocent:
Sunday morning and as planned the sun turned up rite on time:sunny: and the mood around the place was good it was'nt as cold as one had expected,so the morning coffee was first on the list before heading over for breaky and must say my plate was filled up again certainly a job well done by onsite caters
after breaky it was time too packup and say our goodbyes too freinds of old and new...
Our ride home was solo as our counterparts went visiting,so as we came into Ohukune we weren't susprised too see a police cheakpoint breath testing people coming from the rally(IT WAS IN THE RALLY INFRO THAT THEY WOULD BE),although we didn't get tested as the cop already had a que of fails parked too the side,I wasn't worried as I had done a test at the cold kiwi and was negitive anyway...
After getting through kune and topping up gas it was time too head home and open up the throttle a bit more than the day before (dogs mode) through the para's nothing can bet it..................the end:bye:

True, and I guess at 270kg, and extra bit of weight and space isn't going to affect much else anyway. Are the 1200s v-tec? might do pretty well on feul economy, I hit reserve at 148k today, reckon the vfr should be up 250-300 range. Cool tech, but needs to drop 100kg and about half its cc before I'd be really interested.

Is the Tourer version on it's way? (http://www.gizmag.com/vfr1200-tourer-worlds-safest-bike/13201/)That's what jerry cans were designed for ya know.

Can you use them on the go?

Can you use them on the go?Where there's a will there's a way. I'm sure you could hook up a fuel pump. Or just gravity feed from your top box. Of course smokers need to stop on a regular basis so topping up the tank up with a fag in ya mouth would add a new dimension.

Yep, seen a few systems but much easier to have the capacity from the factory.

Brilliant ride today. Marton Resevoir, Turakina Valley Rd, Magamahu, Feilds Track, Ohakune, Latte. Raetihi, Pipiriki, Jerusalem, Wanga's, Bulls, home. The river road is a stunner, with just enough gravel to keep it quiet.
