I'll bet a pint on it it is NOT a Deus build. Maybe the former owner sold it to the current one for a high price claiming it was a Deus build?

What is it about the Yamaha singles that makes people do things like that to them ?
I've been wondering the same thing, the SR's seem to be a popular thing for cafe racer/bobber abominations.
Anyway, unmolested you wouldn't get $5800 for a SR400, so why would you think making it uglier is going to increase the price?

What makes someone do this to a perfectly good motorcycle and then expect stupid money for it?
Is it drugs?
What?

This is the ugliest POS I have seen in awhile.
Fifty yards of pipe wrap and the muffler pointing straight up?
Also what is this "air line" that he had cleaned?
Is it part of the powerband?
I came in here tonight to post this particular bike. I propose we start a givealittle page, so we can buy it and turn it back into a proper motorbike, not some hipster douchenozzle's idea of a motorbike he had seen in a pot-haze after his fucking beard-oil caught fire and he realised his TINY FUCKING TWIGGY LEG could not kickstart the thing even though the airline was defective and it only had 3:! compression
FUCK
edit: i have had some wine and some beer so I have aksed some questions:
I am concerned that cleaning the airline may have detirmentally affected the powerband. Does the motorcycle run well, after that, particularly given the egregious and large exhaust pipe?
Are the tyres made of actual beasts, or synthetic?

Have a look at the motor esp the top end I don't think its Xr200 at all, maybe TLR the cylinder fining kind of looks too big so the cam cover is the wrong shape as well, To be a Xr200
Edit it could be a ATC200X top end I have never seen one but they are supposed to have larger fins

Nice out of the box thinking but.....Sportsbike is more thought of as a type or design of bike more than what it is used for I think.
Trying to show your Motorcycle intellect by this type of fringe thinking and calling a Bucket Racer MX bike drag racer or Burts Indian special a Sportbike even though kind of right because its involved in a motorsport at the time may result in you looking more stupid and see you being laughed away from the event itself..

Just the 45degree steering angle makes you think, just put a bigger engine in a car.
Or spend the money on a brand new Fireblade, a new dirtbike of your fancy, a Trials bike, a bucket racer, a new set of riding kit and either a cheap van to haul it or a boozey trip to Philip island GP.
Or go ahead and buy some poxy 12year old hardley you could use once a year at the port road drags and spend the rest of the year saving to fix it.

Or go ahead and buy some poxy 12year old hardley you could use once a year at the port road drags and spend the rest of the year saving to fix it.There are a few drag strip around the country, and they all have regular events. If drag racing was my thing, I'd get more days on it than I do the sidecar in fact.
So, what is your point exactly?

Bullshit, 'sportsbike' is a marketing word in descriptive terms these days. But I maintain that a race bike is a sportsbike no matter what discipline.
Im more interested in reading and discussing thought out post reply's not reading post after post of pointless dribble from a person who classes anyone's view if different to their own as bullshit.
Especially when we both are in fact saying the same type of thing about marketing words type and design of modern Sportsbikes.Shame you missed that for the sake of being a argumentative dickhead.

Had a few guys describe the Diavel I was riding in Canada as a "Sports bike". I was like, erm, no.
It wasn't bad on the corners to be fair, and was fucking fast, but it sure as hell was not a sports bike. But it's not a cruiser either IMO. So what would you put it in if you were selling it on Trademe?
Obviously no rego/ wof? Could buy a brand new litre bike and do just as fast 1/4 mile (or faster) at a fraction of the cost. You can even ride home after!

I did a bit of reading up on that thing, it appears in the hands of a novice it can cut around a 9.7 and in the hands of a pro it can get down to about a 9.2.
Certainly quicker than any 'production' (as in street legal) bike according to Wikipedia, but not by a huge amount.
I agree that 'sports' is the best category for it, but that is only because Turdme lacks a 'competition motorcycles' category, like they have for competition cars.

Quick release sidecar... unplug NOS... would that make it a dual sport?
Ps. It'd make a stunning demonstration lapper to take dignitaries around on. Especially if you were recording facials and sound when you hit the go gas.

OK fine maybe not faster but definitely could give a run for the money vs a stock superbike without slick tyres, nitros, extended bars etc.

Yup, not easy to launch 180hp of bike which only wants to flip you off the back, so people can put the video up on youtube and laugh hysterically.
Wonder how the new anti wheelie, anti wheelspin, anti "youtube flipping video" systems are on a modern 1000cc bike, IE would an average rider be able to put in a 10sec pass relying solely on the electronics?

*ehem* clears throat *ehem*
I don't know about more developed 2015+ superbikes but earlier anti-wheelie traction controls that came with S1000RR have quite aggressive throttle cut, like clutch pulled in. So yes, anti-wheelie works but I wouldn't use that as an advantage to go faster on a straight line. I've heard reports from other S1000RR owners they ran faster quarter mile time with DTC off. Here is a good demo: https://youtu.be/l3b3BkMELAM?t=12s see how throttle chops?
Next time when there is a drag event here at Ruapuna I'll see what time I get with full-throttle plus DTC on.

Does look a little abrupt. Not dangerously, but it looks all or nothing.
I'd like to get the SDR on a strip too, it seems pretty good at holding the front juuust off the ground. Certainly better than I could manage, so I suspect leaving it on and focusing on getting the body as far fwd as possible without causing trouble out back would be the go.

From what I have read the angle sensor just behind the headstock can be undone a little and the sensor "adjusted" to make it lift a little higher. May or may not be true but would be fun to find out.

Launch control uses wheelie and traction control, but it works differently to their normal operation. Mostly because the acceleration whilst the clutch isn't fully engaged means the revs will spike, and that'll set everything off.
I would be interested in testing a bike with and without the electrics. I back myself off the line a bit, dunno what way would be quicker though.

My only real life example would be that Diavel I had for a month in Canada. I turned it all off and gave it the goods off the lights, thought the clutch was slipping as the bike didn't get very far, looked behind and I'd left a nice black line for about 10 metres of the intersection. Great fun!
Hard to compare with and without as the fly by wire makes the bike a lot more twitchy too, so the throttle turned into more of an on/off switch than in the other modes. I would say that you would be quicker without it though as the times I had the traction control engage the thing got cut quite hard, much more than a controlled wheel spin would achieve.

Well - I know people who would actually consider that. Wellington has quite a few walk-up streets (no vehicle access), it's bearable but OK until the renovations start... if you're paying tradies by the hour or hauling to skips while DIY'ing there might actually be a justification for buying something like this if it speeds the job up.

That would pay for itself in the proverbial 5 minutes. A builder or similar would have that paid for in one decent hill job with difficult access. It is either one person fewer pushing shit all day every day or a faster job with the same number.

Some time back I had the Council arborists around to do some work around a "sacred" tree on my property. The work involved removing a number of competing karaka trees. Originally they told me I'd have to remove the fallen timber.
On the day though the team turned up with a brand new petrol powered wheel barrow - if you can call a barrow with tracks a wheel barrow. Then they didn't mind removing the fallen trees, they could all have a play with the new barrow. Just as well, they had a shredder the size of a small house in the street and they spent much of two days feeding karaka trees into it.

Doesn't even need to be steep hill. Mate with a landscaping business in Perth has just bought a couple, I gave him(as did many others) some shit for it but he reckons they have paid for themselves in the couple of months by speeding up material placement on difficult (not steep) sites.
Certainly would be minimising a few risks under the new H&S legislation

That's pretty cool for a chopper. OK the bars are stupid high (I don;t know if I could ride that!) but some nice work there - exhaust looks great but I don't see much down the end - lets presume it is baffled aye.
Twisted front spokes - I've not seen them on a bike since I was about 11 push biking to Ringos secondhand bookshop in town to buy used American chopper magazines. Plus he'd let you take a peak at the porn magazines. He'd be long dead now - chain smoker.

Yeah my lovely wife had one of those "Sunny 50" scooters as her first. Thing was a fuckin nightmare, spent every 2nd weekend fixing the damn thing.
On the day we moved in to our first home from our rental she was riding it across town, was waiting for her and thinking where the fuck is she, thing had given up half way there and she had to push it the rest of the way.
Went to Emoto and got a Piaggio Zip the next day (just what you need after buying a house). Thing has been brilliant, is assembled in China but designed in Italy, only time it has given us trouble was just as I was getting on a plane to aussie earlier this year, luckily got Askor on to it and he fixed the issue (blocked carb). Not bad for over 12000ks on a scooter with virtually no servicing. 2 strokes for the win.

I had the displeasure of doing a WOF road test a while ago on a hardtail chopper with a 300 tyre on it and an aggressive rake.
It actually scared me. I got to the end of the road and virtually had to paddle my feet along the road on either side just to get it around the corner. It was like I'd never ridden a bike before.
Did I think it was safe for our roads? Absolutely not.
Did it get a WOF? Yes it did. It was only a couple of years old, it ticked all the boxes on the WOF sheet and clearly someone saw fit to certify it for our roads a couple of years ago. (I wonder if anyone actually rode it before they signed off on it though).

I have mused many times over the operation of forks pointing way the fuck out front like that. So long as they don't bend, they should work normally..albeit requiring more travel than if they had less rake.
Hard tail is superior to shocks with no oil in them. And that shit is common as fuck.

At 50 degrees of rake forks might still telescope much like normal under braking but they certainly don't react that way over bumps.

How so? I did say that it's just my musings. The fork still compresses over bumps, they just have to overcome more friction because of how they're loaded on the guides. And they have to travel further than they would with less rake because the action is less direct.
What am I missing?
Really Drew?

So long as oil isn't leaking out, they aren't a failure are they? That's easy to achieve by cleaning the lost oil off them.
But the pogo is sketchier than a hard tail. My opinion only of course.

Some with stiffer upside down forks aren't TOO bad. But RWU forks simple flex and bend rather than go through their travel as they do when not so raked out. Sure they compress a bit, but they flex and deflect off bumps like you wouldn't believe. Go ride one.

Indeed - it is very simple vector addition. draw the picture.
the closer to vertical (or alignment with the compression force, the better the telescopic fork willwork because you reduce the "sideways" bending moment - this is what causes stiction as well as bending. Over the years the compromises to reduce it have been: larger, thinner walled fork stanchions. "Upside down" forks, better bushing material. Better, stiffer, sliders and better lock to reduce twisting (bigger axles etc).
If you can get hold of Tony Foal'e book. The maths is over my head but the pictures are hella informative.

Queries, 'Hey bro I really love this bike. How much to transport it to Auckland?'
' I only have $800 will you take that much?
' If you can drop the price to a $1000, I can give you some now and the rest in a months time.'
' I don't have any money now, can you keep your bike until I get some?'
' Will you take 1000 bucks now for a quick sale?'.
' I just need to sell my bike first. If I give you $200, will you hold the bike for me?.
I have stuck a note below the bike details. "If you only have a $1000, go look for a $1000 bike, Dickheads will not get emails replied to".

A sister thread to this one would be Optimistic Buyers. I have my bike listed for $2300 on turd me. So far each inquiry has been from people who don't have any money,
Queries, 'Hey bro I really love this bike.
'
Not that it helps, but I'm getting the same. As it is, I'm advertising at 20% lower than a similar, but double the age, bike. So when someone offered me close to another 20% lower I suggested he needed to update the search for older / smaller engine bikes.
Although my favourite were the emails from someone who was really really intererested, but couldn't come to test ride as he was offshore on a ship and so wanted to pay by paypal and then get his shipping agent to collect. I wasn't sure how to wrap up a 250cc scooter so I declined his kind offer.... Several weeks of daft questions later and I'm wondering if that rejection was a mistake.....

A while ago, a lot of sellers were getting offers by some overseas person claiming to be buying for his son who was working offshore on an oil rig. He was advocating the same deal as you received.
I received another inquiry tonight, 'Hey dude, I want to cruz down and check out your bike'. I replied, Hey 'dude', turn up with the cash, then you can 'check out' the bike. If you get the idea I'm not too concerned about selling in a hurry, you're probably right.
Any buyer who starts with Hey dude, bro, man, cuz probably wears his baseball cap on back to front and hasn't changed his T shirt in a week. :weird::weird:

I learnt to ride on my sister's xl. But I'm not $2000 sentimental. $1200 buys you a light years better KDX.

Chin up, I had two scammers in 3 weeks when selling my ute, no other bites. Then a fella from near Whangarei contacts me, wants to see the following day, then shifts up to same evening. Money transferred, they drive down, ute sale completed in under a day.

Interesting how the cafe tail just sits on the rear fender. Nice double vision styling. Or something.

Its the night for it
20grand for a manky pos with a blown up engine, but that's OK I Ihave a probably stolen different era engine that will make it worth less as a mongrel and you can fit it yourself and sort out what doesn't fit or run properly.

I can only assume it's some contraption for encouraging a partner that doesn't want to ride pillion to get their own license. As in, either you ride, or I'll put you in the brown wheelie bin strapped to the world's ugliest scooter (actually there's a worse Honda) a and ride past all your friends house with the megaphone exhaust ensuring they all come out to look at you.

He's totally right about that sidecar wheel being totally bitchin' because it is faired in like that.

That XL brought back memories. A shop down here for whom I did a little outwork brought in quite a few rough used XL/XR's. Frequently painted them white and called them "the rare Canadian model"....which brought a price premium. I see it still applies.

This is the best bit.
Being an old Japanese bike all the parts are very easy to come by and are very cheap.

I had a guy come to look at my Suzuki, spent over an hour looking at it and test riding it, agreed to the price, then let me know he'll settle as soon as his car sells. That wasn't even Trademe, that was from my KB ad, though I didn't catch his username.
