v twin
23rd December 2016, 10:31
Once followed a chap on one who was pushing a TL on the Akaroa GP, was bloody scary watching the way it took a corner, was relatively easy to sit behind him on my GIXXER 600 thinking "Fuck I am glad I am not riding that bike" That said the rider could just have been shit.
I do have a hankering for a big twin, been debating a SV1000 for many moons as a 2 up bike for me and the Mrs to float about on.
Ha he was probably a good rider, my old mate was fucking smooth on anything and could leave me for dead most of the time.....not on the tl s though. I could chill behind him watching it squirm all over the road.
Can't beat a v twin in for me, good for all occasions. had jap zx7r r1 gixerk1 even a bandit but once I got on the aprilia rsv that was me sold. Always wanted a duc 916, rode my mates back in the day and it was so much smoother than the aprilia but I was a orangutan on the thing. Built for the little people unfortunately

They get out of shape a bit on the track a bit after a couple laps, but nothing ya can't keep a handle on.

At least buy me a drink first mother fawker!
No doubting it's fun, but if something with springs and shocks handles the same as something without then there has been a horrible mistake somewhere along the line I would think

i brought a one of the first tl1000 in the country for brian bernard to race in a deal direct with suzuki nz, tony ress was given one and shelved it after the first meeting and went back to his gsr750, from memory we got some good suspension in from aussie and a power commander or similar too. dunno whether tony got that though.

As a serious race bike they were lacking, off the shelf. Though, Bernard fucken owned F1 at Wanganui on an Ohlins equipped R.
But as a road bike, they're fucken fine.

I think a lot of people thought that after riding them, as the S def came on harder and felt faster, but it wasn't. The R will walk away from the S in a straight out drag.

I jumped off my sp1 years ago and tried a mates tlr and it was horrid. It felt like it wanted to push you wide in corners. Might have been the suspension settings but it was borderline scary.

I could well be wrong (hardly the first time), but I'm doubting they're Ohlins forks. Too dear for such a high KM one anyway...
I have had a Ohlins shocks on four bikes and have seen a number of Ohlins forks. Those forks look wrong and the jury is out on the shock. It could be that someone got a bulk deal on Ohlins stickers?

2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250
Glen Eden, New Zealand
$3,000
Was involved in a crash from behind and therefore has damaged all fairings and a few parts of the motorway, however engine still runs and is somewhat rideable... Motor was serviced religiously and bike was mainly used to commute into town
Front Left Handlebar needs to be replaced
Gear selector needs to be replaced or can be bent back.
Will need two front indicators.
I have stopped riding also.
Could have this bike up and running and riding for under $500 or less easily.

Has everything it needs to get a warrant and rego except the high beam indicator needs to be hooked up. And the front drum break might need some tweaking. Unfortunately I've run out of time to finish her off.

mostly conductive (and by the time they were melted nearly all conductive) you could turn it into rail gun ammunition....

So you get an MT-07 that's had its ass thrashed off by a stunter, and for the privilege you pay $3k more than a new one.
And it's not even the full power model, it's the LAMS low fat version.
I read once that if you even know what colour chartreuse is you are gay. Not sure what having wheels that colour does for his man card, but he may get points back for not being able to spell it.

How much does it cost to get it de restricted? Is it a throttle plate or an ecu tune?

No, despite what some Yamaha dealers were saying it can't readily be derestricted, it's a smaller engine with significantly less ponies.

I have a front wheel of one of those except it has the flanged alloy rim they came with std.
They are just the things for RD' twin disc conversions. or rear disk reversions.
I always thought that the flanged alloy rims on the tx's were their only redeeming feature. (that pos doesn't even have those)

IMO It would look better with a CR750
327947
or even 750 or 900F tank
327949
The RCB style tank needs the frame mods to look right
327948327950327951
the rest of it has some nice period detail stuff.

have actually seen it in the flesh so to speak, its not pretty, but in answer to your question about why, if i remember correctly when i asked the guy who built it, the answer was along the lines of "why not" followed by "because i could" and as for a poor mans can-am, naaa, he actually put a lot of time and effort in to this thing, and if i remember correctly the mini part is not quite full size, different yes, not my thing, but hey its different and some one did it

They were fun till you had to replace the rear axle bearings - Very odd size unique to Yamaha. I solved the problem for a shop in ChCh by machining adaptors for a common size bearing. Word got around and i finished up doing about 20 sets...

Hmmm - if the tank has enough layers of polish you may be able to zoom in on the image and see a reflection of her boobies.
Now to be fair looking at her skinny legs and boney back there may not be much to reflect but genetics are weird and sometimes you get a large set on a slight frame.

Ha just on 1mth ago I brought 2 of them for $800, one had just 46k on the clock & the other 69k admittedly one is in bits but they're both complete & near original.
$6.8k thats just shy of what I paid for the ZX12R & it only had 24k on the clock

JS can remain a mystery as he isn't worth an extra grand.
It might pay to ride the new one if you can, they make about 20% less power than the current one. Allegedly extra torque makes up for that but I'd like to check.

Agree. The UZ125's are the best 4 stroke scooter Suzuki have ever made. But the early ones go better than the late model ones. Not sure what they've done to them to slow them up. AG100's ( 2t's) go fucking well too if you can find a tidy low km one.

The description is priceless!
Predictive text has a lot to answer for..."I'm not a machine"
Pity it's not still a 750. If it was when imported it's actually quite a rare model. I've only ever seen a couple of the alloy framed non OW 750's.
Jap home market model I think.
If it's just a mis labelled 1000, then boring....

What the hell is that thing? A Parallel twin and in the 60s? I never knew such a thing existed.
Oh. . I see, a rebadged Royal Enfield. But with some quirky disguise.
A proud chapter for the purists I'm sure.
About as desirable of those Pontiac badged little shitboxes they sold in the 90s.

Just another oddity in Enfield's history. If they'd taken off in the US, there might not have been an Indian made Enfield...
With the Indian based factory introducing a twin shortly, could round off someone's collection. Still shit though...

I still want one of those ringding Cagivaesque 350 Harley Davidsons. Maybe some apehangers, highway pegs, etc and go join HOG rides. A 16:1 premix of bean oil and no muffler packing.
In the wind righteous bro.

Tell me more - I thought the 250 2T was as big as Aermacchi made for HD. Ran into a guy down here looking for parts for one of those but couldn't help him.
I was looking for one of the 125 2T singles as an Auckland customer for whom I'd built 250 and 350 4t singles would have liked a replica of the 125 customer racebike to round off his colection. Never found one.Pity, the little 125 racer is a pretty bike.
If you want a 350 4t with the harleyesque frame, I can point you at one....god help your sick soul....

They did a 350 and a 500 (as twins), they won a fair few world championships 1 the 350 4? i think with the 250.
Tucked away at the olds is a 175 verson of the single.
Its esentially a debored 250.
its pretty basic stuff.
The Indian 125 with its minerilli engine he also has is far more exciting looking.
