Potential CASH buyer "Hey, can I come have a look over the weekend? Mark "
Seller "Hi, not into showing it. If you want it use the buy now button. I am happy to keep the bike if it does not sell."
Someone doesn't want to sell their bike.
And a follow up......
Potential CASH Buyer "So you want someone to buy a 14 year old bike sight unseen without inspecting it first? What is the point of putting it up for sale if you're not interested in selling it? "
Seller "I brought the bike sight unseen without inspection in Auckland. The bike can be brought by pushing the "buy now " option and coming up with the cash. If it does not sell I am happy to keep riding it. Not sure why you have filled out the question as the bike is for sale and can be purchased"
Potential CASH Buyer "There is a difference between available for sale and it selling. I am a cash buyer and would have probably bought the bike off you this weekend if you had let me come have a look at it. However now i'm going to look at another bike and probably buy that one! Good luck with your sale."

Hello my friend. Think of it this way; your life is fuller and more enriched for not meeting this guy in real life.
ERM, I've assumed it is you as cash buyer, perhaps not.

Wait what???? So he's got a 60,000 km rsv that's been crashed, he's stuck high bars on it, and chucked away the fairings and he wants more for it than a newer proper Tuono with less km's.

Nothing against a x crashed by previous owner 2000 model rsv not rebuilt to original but 7.5 buys more than that.
That's what I was thinking anyway.

The problem with crashing an rsv, is the frame is cracked really easily by the foot levers, which tends to write them off. Some not so honest folk will bog the cracks and paint over them.
Either way, like you say 7.5 is way too much for that bike.

That is most likely the camera manufacture date/default. If you pull the battery out some reset to default, and then if you're to lazy to put the correct date or turn date stamping off it will have some random old date on yer happy snaps.

you mean where the brake or gear lever dents the casting? that's only cosmetic, but as you say it writes them off because the insurance cost of replacing the frame is generally more $ than what the bike is worth.

didnt they have swingarm/suspension linkages that were made of chocolate and broke causing crashes and one death? I remember reading a long forum thread on it and someone had done FEA on it and there were lawsuits and stuff. Germany and NZ and UK I think?
I love them (I LOOOOOOVE the RSV4-R and the RSV4 Tuono) but I would never buy one due to the shitness of the importer and the niggling "what if" in my head.

There was a swingarm recall, on the second generation ones. I've drunk a bit of beer since, but I think some were tearing where a rivnut went through the folded alloy part.
and you can get aftermarket shock linkages to ease your paranoia.

I think it was the 2004 model that got a new swingarm. Those lazy cunts used to just chuck a replacement in the crate with the bike once they realised the problem. Dealers had to do the swap themselves.

A lot of yanks seem to swear by shit like that. Would be interested to know where they get their data. A 5 year old vehicle with X amount of K's would be a bit easier to pin a value around than a classic, which often involves more emotion than financial common-sense anyway.

Why do I know this is a bad deal? I had this bike 4 years ago. The exact fucking one. How much was it sold at Hampton Honda as a second hand? $4500. This guy says it's 5k initially then dropped down to 4199. How much did I sell the bike for? $3400.

Here's an interesting question for the KB brethren.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-952003311.htm
Now I am not saying the chap is asking too much, but the question is how much is a bike worth the second you ride it out of the workshop. This bike is virtually brand new bar his wife barely riding it (weird as these look great fun, which is why I have been looking at them.). He says he doesn't have enough garage space for 3 bikes, I argue that this is only 1/2 a bike lol.
Brand new these range on the internets from 4k-5k. Quite a spread really, must not be selling well. Best case scenario is 4k plus ORC from Taranaki, this chap is asking 3750 starting price. Is 300 odd dollars worth the purchase of a bike which you don't know 100% the history of?
So yeah, how much is a bike of this value worth once you sign the form?

I don't know about groms but what I know is a $29,950 S1000RR with Akrapovic slip-on and other accessories are worth $20k instantly you take it out of the show room floor.
Other than the excuse of no room for bikes (I could probably fit that bike in my cupboard) I think he's selling it at a reasonable deal.

Haha, wanker indeed. I can almost see his logic... Almost. Not like breaking in a bike is that hard, ride it like a muppet by not keeping it at constant revs for around 500kms, then roll it on nicely when you give it the beans. Change it's virgin oil to get the metal bits out. Done.
Orrrr, if it is a brand new company car, ignore the above :D

I agree on the price way to much, but it is a police special (speedo picture gives it away) and these where kept in production after the model they where based on was stopped so it could be a 1980. Only the frame number will give you the correct year.

This guy sounds like a total dick head.
"The model has been extensively "tested" by journalist globally since its release. Go to the web.The owner will not permit "test" rides by local "experts" unless it is paid for in full. Time wasters don't bother."
Selling on behalf as well. Would be awkward as fuck when someone buys it and hops on only to realise the bike's fucked as the seller has no knowledge of the bike he's selling. That's why I hate people who do that as it's as if they are responsibility free.
I also get it's a monoposto with ohlins but for fuck's sake it's not an S or R model and is at almost 35,000kms with no information above valve clearances or cam belt changes as he's "selling on behalf"
There are cheaper and lower kms options out there! Just search "Ducati 999" on TradeMe!

Sssh...! That shit makes it sound fancy. Technically correct as later 749/999 models came with red painted frames and black "R" swingarms. Just don't let the seller know or else he'll raise the price by $2k.

What's a helmut? I've had a big think and I've decided it is a Helmet designed for ugly people who look like "muts". It has extra face covering features so that passing cars don't crash when they see such an ugly mug.

What you see on the picture is not $20,495 but rather it's going to cost you $22,495.
If you want the after-market extras they've put on it's an extra $2000, the $20,495 asking price is for them to change it all back to stock...

Supposedly the wrap will turn Titanium headers to dust near overnight if the wrap gets wet. (according to Cameron)

With an especially odd 80 degree V angle and special twisted heads which is why they are Pushrod (that and to keep them narrower.)
Other than a few minor issues at first they are bullet proof as they were designed to be Super or turbo charged from the begining.

yeah .. I do know people who love them - and still ride them ... Yeah - I was probably doing it wrong - after all, the owners all made them turn left ... which showed it was me, not the bike ... (BK - it was sometime back in the 80s ... I've had nearly 30 years more experience on a motorcycle now ... don't need to go back to L plates ...)
I didn't like them enough to get to grips with them ..

They go alright for what they are. A Bros is miles better.

All I said was saying that CX500's go alright for what they are is total crap. And it is. They're over weight gutless piles of fucking shit. Even a poxy old Z440 would kill one. RD250/350/400 anyone? T500 for that matter.

Gee Four of those are 2 strokes plus 3 are sports bikes and the forth started as a sports bike (cobra)therefor not comperable. So how many HP were the Z440's again and what top speed . As I said they went all right for what they were and it seems went better than anything comparable Pete can come up with. Also none of those bikes are shaft drive.

I didn't think my CX was too bad, but I'd have my T500's back first.

As were many bikes of the day. But hey...you were there eh? You've been there and done that eh? In your near 30 years in the industry, in six diff shops you've ridden early everything there is to ride eh? Cause I have. So books not included...nor wiki...tell us all about your vast experience in the world of motorcycling? I wouldn't mind betting you've done and ridden fuck all. I still think you're an uptight virgin too.

If you knew as much as you thought you did Pete then you would be dangerous. Although its mildly amusing that you think your own opinion and qualifications are so much higher.
But two dealerships one Honda one Yamaha raced for over 5 years ridden more bikes than I care to imagine, from Villiers shitters to GSXR1000s.
I'm currently building my own two stroke engine from scratch so fuck you with a big stick.

You can't say that Drew Pete says so. Coincidently I had a titan.

Terrifying fucken things to ride. I had a T and a GT.
Was going to buy an MVX with a titan motor at one point. That would have been good fun.

I remember riding my CX home one night, with enough chemical enhancement in me to kill a horse.
Was pissing with rain. I can't believe I got away with it, but I discovered that with enough lean on round roundabouts and cracking the throttle I could drift the thing.
Fucked if I'd try that 'straight' though.

That's odd..who are you then? Raced for five years you say? Won what? Wouldn't mind betting I've never heard of you. Building your own two stroke engine you say? That's cool. I won a national title on the one I developed. But what would know?
So you're still a virgin eh?

Nothings odd you are a bikes salesman and they are know to be full of shit, you have no ability to admit you are ever wrong about pretty much anything else so don't start now.
I never achieved much don't care my only claim to fame was doing a street race at 16 and beating Denis chalet once but that was years ago.
I have a virgin ass can you say the same...............with a straight face.

Nah. Bike salesmen that are full of shit don't last long. Ones that tell the truth, know what they're talking about, and can back it up with facts do well. I did very well thanks.
So you're still a virgin right?
