Nothing wrong, its what could go wrong. Yes very good of him to openly front up and declare it, but your trusting its cleared and cleaned up before delivery.
A mate of mine was in similar situation buying bike off a very reputable dealer. Was told yep it will be sorted ASAP... mate sitting there on his CASH ready to buy, it got dragged out and not sorted before sale so mate got another bike same somewhere else. Your at the mercy of a bailiff/debt collector if it goes wrong.

wondered if that would end up in here. Poor sod bought into the AT marketing hype, trundles down to the Honda shop, where the salesman enthusiastically tells him demand is gonna waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out strip supply, the AT factory got damaged in an EQ and the new ones are gonna be way more expensive.....ya cant go wrong he thinks to himself. Buy it & rack up some miles then sell it for more than ya paid for it.....no brainer really.
There was another bloke while back did the same but he reckoned the cops were after him for speeding too much so he had to get rid of it.....his loss ways someones gain at full retail with only a few k's on the clock.

Many people I know who started on one said they took about a month to learn to ride the new bike they traded up to .. so they had learnt to ride a GN .. but what they had learnt was not transferable to another bike ..

Selling or buying a bike with finance owing is as simple as the vendor makes it.
As Drew says have the purchaser pay the finance company direct. If you have clear funds on a debit or credit card, you have the vendor call their finance company, you get a settlement figure, give them your card details, they give you a settlement number and email a receipt.
You pay any balance to the vendor.
Check back in a couple of days that the security has been lifted. If not pursue it.
Not satisfied? Call your card company and have the transaction reversed. You have 30 days with most debit / credit card companies, and you can save a lot of money buying someone out of a hole... provided the registered security is cleared.
I have been on both ends of this type of deal.
Take the right precautions and it is easy... it's the ones that don't say shit you have to worry about.

Interested to see you write that (and the gutless bit).
Moved a GN125 for a friend of the wife a few months back. With any action that involved turning more than a little, the thing felt like it wanted to tip itself over. I figured it was the rake, or something.
Funnily enough, the reason I was moving it, not her, is she'd broken her wrist ... falling off an instructors GN125 at a course, trying to turn around a cone.

Fuckin' A. A mate gave me a go on his waaaay back in high school. There was absolutely no feel for what the front end was doing, or for that matter any sense of what the bike was doing overall... just horrible.
I have to wonder how many people have given biking a go, bought a GN 'cos a cheap learner makes sense, and been put off for life by the damn things.

Not really that hard, if it's the only one you've found that you want to buy, had a similar situation with one of my bikes. Still had security showing against it even though the loan had been paid off, apparently it's common practice to put it on for 5 years and not cancel it, 'just in case'. In case of what I'm not sure of.
But as above, seller gives permission to talk to the thieving finance pricks, they send through confirmation that there is nothing owing, and you keep it handy for when their system gets fucked up and they come to try and repossess it anyway.

I used to watch the US Hornet/919 site. The opinion of some seemingly well qualfied racing people that was that the best performance came from engines that had undergone a number of "heat cycles". One long trip was definitely considered the wrong way to run in an engine.

There's low balling, then there's plain insulting. Resisted the urge to call him a cunt and told him thanks for the offer.
Got to love the facebook.
I was reading this morning about a seller receiving the question, "How low can you go?"
He replied, "2mph, lower than that and you fall off."

Does not equate to being worth that though.
So not up to WOF standard then.
See ads like that piss me off. If you have a $50k bike for sale then for fucks sake drop a couple hundy on some nice LED turn signals and WOF the fucker for sale.

It's really good. It's only a fair weather bike but it's looked after really well. Which is more than most of them get. A neighbor / mate sold his cbr250rr to a friend who dry Rev limited it and all sorts of stupid shit. That stuff is the main reason I wouldn't buy one.

You missed out meagre reliability. Despite being based on two SR500s they didn't seem to like big mileages. As a teen I aspired to one. Japanese Ducati I figured. Turns out they were shit.
And the Yamaha copy was also crap.

I have now completed 880klms since firing her up for the first time and she is running like a dream
Judging by the rear tyre with the stripe still around it, not gone around any left hand corners in that 880km, even my chicken strips aren't that wide and I'm a giant nana.
Sounds like similar bullshit to when I bought a XJ550 unfinished project a few years back, was told it was running fine, but strangely the misrouted clutch cable sitting against the exhaust header hadn't melted...

Personally I'd sooner have a 650 than a Z1. Worked on both, know the faults of both.
Absolute best though is a 650 with 750 top end. Lighter than the 750, not a lot slower than the Z1 but a lot more nimble.
CB500's are just another overweight Honda. They need to be at least out to 700cc before the power to weight ratio becomes positive.

Thing is, I can kinda see what their design committee were getting at. Four chrome exhaust outs = 'muscular engine'. Handlebars to match the handlebar under your nose. Two tier seat for two up comfort. Inclined tank to match that low rider look. Non-spoked wheels for sporty look.
But the combined package? Fuck me, it's awful. I can't decide what the worst part is, there's so many of them. I'm leaning towards the subframe, but probably should stick with "the entire thing".

Indeed, the stiffness of a tube increases as the square of its diameter. Ergo, a thinner wall tube of a larger diameter is as stiff as a thicker (or solid) tube of smaller diameter with larger wall thickness.

I love how he proclaims it to be a "future classic" (pmsl) then outlines below everything that he's modified from it original "classic" state.

Take two paces back with the camera Mac

And I don't care where it's been parked, its too much for a dreary non runner which needs full rego from scratch. Looks just like my old one.
Looks very clean and tidy, and it appears someone disagrees with you that it's too much.

2016 Triumph Thruxton R........."Bike only has 1700 kms on it not counting kms whilst on the back of a tow truck. And is only 3 months old, not counting the amount of time it has been sitting waiting for parts. Only few trouble-free kilometres enjoyed without the mocking laughter and smirks of sales staff, parts personnel, and service mechanics at PRO-CYCLES ST PETERS"
........So, if you are the type of person whose sole priority for purchasing anything is desirability, and other factors like function, durability, safety, obsolescence, after-sale service, warranty etc are insignificant factors unworthy of your consideration.....then this is definitely the bike for you.

Meh, you don't want one of those British built pieces of shit.
You want one of the good ones assembled in the good old Kingdom of Thailand. :msn-wink:

any history of the bike?
It looks like something nodrog would try to save.
I went & looked at it in Tauranga ten years ago. It was exactly like it is now & some guys had been towing it up the paddocks with the quad bike & freewheeling down the hills on it.
I thought I was on to something until I saw it.
