$2800 for what is essentially a stock bike with the charging system removed and pretty paint job...
This is roughly $800-$1300 off what this bike is worth. It looks well presented, but I recently bought a well presented bucket for a lot less than that.
Even if it still had all its road gear on it would be priced too high. The fact that it is still on TM shows that it's not priced well as usually buckets are a collectors item so chaps like a few in their fleet.
I can't help wondering what he would say if someone sent him an email offering $1800

With an 1850cc 16 year old cruiser which has more cc capacity than my 1800cc '11 Civic....
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/cruiser/auction-1061410242.htm
All for the price of $31,500.
110 HP is cool and all and "This is not a Harley but it goes like all Harley's should" is nice and all but I think you can get a cruiser with more reliable parts and perhaps greater horsepower for less than $31.5k
Just my thoughts. What are yours Drew? I would probably test ride this work of art before I buy it ;)

Most expensive boat anchor I have ever seen....
Turned up to see a Ducati for sale the other day ... bought my helmet & boots if he'd let me ride it but wasn't sure how he'd feel about that. Guy said "take her for a spin" and "no need for your ID you look OK" when I went to get my licence out.
I didn't realise there were such trusting decent people still around. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
No punchline - I didn't drop it or steel it (but I did sort of feel as though I should have done ....)

These were off the menu "customs" went for 40+ k depending on the options. The two I have seen in person were $50k+.
Not my cup of tea but certainly to the right buyer more than $5 and a bag of chips.

. Each Road Rage takes over 300 hours from design to finish. To buy this one? "$135,000 would own it - but it owes us more than that."

Once upon a time in a west Auckland 16 years ago while on a hiatus from riding a rather shiny bike turned up at a bar I was working at. Had a bit of a natter with the owner... he seemed real keen for me to take it for a spin.
Having not been riding for a few years I was kind of tempted right up until he told me how much he paid.
He told me he paid $56k... after "near twisting their arm off to get a good deal"...
Didn't seem like the sort of dude I wanted to negotiate with let alone owe a new custom bike to.

Ah. These Bimota DBx 1100 are the "premium" end of dual-sports.
The 2013 Bimota DBx's have been sold in the UK for $20,000 British Pounds as well as elsewhere around Europe.
$48,000NZD for a bike is a bit much and I'll probably never spend that much on one.
However... A couple of things why the price is so bloody high:
"Öhlins TTX forks and four-way adjustable shock for suspension, Brembo monoblocs for brakes (2 x 300mm discs up front, 200mm in the back), carbon fiber everywhere, and machined pieces of billet aluminum"
http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/popular/2013-bimota-dbx/
Also... something something hand built and something something custom always ups the price.
Perhaps someone's cup of tea but not mine.

Be well worth the effort for $20k.
I think it's worth fuck all as a functional design though. All of their bikes look high tech because of the "billet" CNC machined alloy and space frames. Personally I think it's mostly marketing bullshit, there's often fuck all benefit in terms of rigidity or weight reduction.

If it took me 7 years to get something road legal that fucker is putting in some miles before anyone else gets a look in.

Nothing much wrong with The Bike Dealer but I find it funny and slightly optimistic with putting up his gf/fiance/wife/partner/spouse in all of his listings that he'll sell the bike faster.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-1063170143.htm
My mate follows him and I remember he burst out laughing and called me when one of The Bike Dealer's latest listing was a picture of the bike and another woman that was not the usual blonde chick you see in all of them. He theorized they may have split and then The Bike Dealer may have got a new motorbike chick to pose.
I think the last time my work mate emailed/messaged The Bike Dealer about how his gf/fiance/wife/partner/spouse may have gained a bit of weight recently after comparing listings with photos of her a few weeks back... This resulted in my mate getting banned by him
All in all, good laugh and I wish him the best. Just find it funny and slightly optimistic of him. But hey, he does get more views so why not?

Also, $35,000 starting bid. How much do you want for a bike whose brand-new price is like what? $37,000 was it?

Troy Lister is a local second hand car dealer here in Hamilton. Known as a bit of a character in the dealer circles. His main bread and butter are cars, but he occasionally buys high end and collectable bikes for personal use and then on-sells them when he gets bored of them. This looks to be one of these. Beautiful bike, but is it worth his asking price when compared to new, I don't know. The exhaust system must be worth couple of K, but then again it's not something you will necessary make money back on.

the saddest part (apart from that first pic - like What the actual fuck? - is this:
I bought the bike 3 years ago off an old guy who bought it from new and kept it serviced and garaged
So, it can be assumed that a nice, tidy little bike died a horrible death then was reborn into that piece of shit.
I will chip in $100, anyone else want to contribute? we get to $2500 and we put the poor wee thing out of its misery. You wouldn't allow your pets to suffer that way, so we should extend that to our vehicles.

The copbike versions were sold off for less than a grand. There's at least another going for the peanuts they are worth. When there's no following for a bike in its heyday you won't get misty eyed gits trying to snap them up. Talking of which this git has spotted that YZF750SP, which in a way is the newer version. But in NZ there were so few there is no way he'll get ten k.

The original triumph threes had more of a Howl esp when coming on to the pipe.
Best sound ever ESP with a 3-1. (other than a V4 two stroke coming on to pipe.)
The road versions had a muted version of the same with the ray gun silencers or the triumph mufflers

That's easy... Yamaha XS250. Probably heavier, definitely slower - and the only bike i've ever struck factory limited by it's fuel tap.
About 3 miles flat tack - not very fast which is why wide open...and they're gasping for fuel. The tap - standard - does not flow enough fuel for the engine's needs. Low though they are...

Shit prices are up there. Number one is a tidy unit. Bet the rear Ohlins are ex XR1300? So I'm thinking it would probably $9.5k if all original. Less with the mods despite them being improvements.

Imagine trying to find tires for the 23inch front hoop, it was hard to find them 20 years ago............
They were likely only ever fitted to about 4 models of bikes from memory and then for a couple of years .CR and XR's not even sure if any XL's had them.
I'd like to do something similar to the first one with a RD400, but can't recall the last time I seen one.

CR's never had them. XL500 and 250 and XR500 and 250. 1979 and 1980, so yeah four models. Pretty sure BS still make them but piss all choice of tread pattern. I don't want to scratch my eyes by having another look at that PILE OF EXCREMENT:facepalm:, but it didn't look like it had a 23" rim to me.

Yes they did. Well at least one model of CR did anyway. The CR125 had one in 1979. (So did the 79 RC125 but they only made a few of those and even they picked and chose) But yeah the other one was okay though, but I never even looked at the prices.

I hate it when I'm tooling along thinking I'm fanging it pretty fast and some prick passes me and his passenger gives me a wave :weep:

Ton of work in that. Wonder if it could get a WOF?
Says it's all certified and has a current WOF. No reason why not if it has passed certification and has the relevant legal bits and bobs like turn signals etc.
I'd love to ride it to the local VINZ station

Handles so bad that I must sell it but I can't risk you riding it and finding out.

looks like a clutch on the l/h bar, and left hand hand change, how the fuck does that work then?

It's like juggling...but more impressive.
I dunno man, I didn't build the bike. I just think it's cool, if for no other reason than its complete I'm practicality.

Interesting listing. I remember these coming out. Nice bikes, not a significant model or game changer.
Price? Who knows - keep watching

I love the comment at the bottom, does it come with a trailer of gold? Bahaha.
Always hard to price a bike that's virtually brand new, clearly not a collected bike else it would be much higher in the $$$.
It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, he should chat to the guy with the un-ridden NZ new NC24 that I put up here recently to see what it might be worth. It disappeared from trademe so it must have sold...
That said there will be an old fart that had one once somewhere that would try and bring back his youth by jumping on board it.
Hmmm more hmmmm not much Mmmmmm
Something of a bastard XS650

So ugly even it's mother would slap it and tell it to put on an Iron mask. How could someone fuck up a Honda that badly?
