was pretty easy in the end,I recognised the golf driving range and that were about that we were about perpendicular to it.....after a bit of work on google satelitre view and a look around this morning there was only one place high enough on the line i had setimated.
Was a bit tricky though Drogen,I first disregarded the private road and went through past some concrete blocks on the left and down a few tracks(NOT road bike friendly)
and even after i decided to go past the sign I went down a few tracks and got stuck once when the track became to narrow to turn round...ignoring potential paint damage and the gorse pushed through a couple of gorse bushes and turned round, and finally found the spot i think you used!
edit i realise my view of teh gate is from the wrong side, but i thought i had done it wrong when i saw this on the way in...this BEFORE the gate

I knew there were tracks around there from my MTB ing...a private road is important Drogen, you should have at least posted it was a private road, and i think you must have, cos i bet it aint the first time you have been down there the other night. It may not be important to you but it may be to some, especially the people whose road it is.
I cant beleive that you would find that spot in the dark, never having been down there before.Although it may be easier to find in the dark!
People can then make their own choice wether to go and get the tag as i did when i saw the sign. The other thing ,it was big bike unfriendly.I am not baggin you mate, just make these things known when posting a tag.I am not saying a big road bike couldnt have got that but some (low ground clearance and limited steering lock) could not have got past the gate.

True, sorry I've never though of that before and also never seen that sign. I haven't been up there since the logging started and since that sign says something bout logging it must have gone up when they started.
usually i go up there on my dirt bike but i go in though the silverstream water tower area.

will have to be more vigilant next time. maybe it's time for some rules to be placed on page 1 of this forum.

I could lend you the AG to give it a try. My scooter made it about 3/4's of the way there (during summer). As long as your accuracy is spot on you shouldn't have any problems (some parts you've got about half a meter wide area where the bike will go through, with a bank on one side, and a cliff on the other) I can follow you up on the XR. Haven't taken it up there yet but ive gone up on both AGs and was easy as. Give me a yell if you're interested.
Going trail riding in the akatarawa's for the weekend, ive got an extra bike if anyone wants to join in. Going in saturday, coming out sunday.

Has there been a tiny edit below lft h/bar as well ?
Nah, no edit. I try not to if at all possible.
Let's not see this one left for dead, huh? Would be a shame to see it languish in daylight hours to have someone roar over there at night. It seems like an awfully quiet neighborhood!
Mind you, the damage is probably already done since my "muffler" is close to "waking the dead" levels! :eek5:

well the game is making me relearn some things...I never knew Plimmerton had a Train enthusiasts organisation, turntable or water tower.I knew the Paekak one was wrong cos the tank wasnt the right colour or in the same state of repair. When i got home and saw that i was indeed wrong i searched for railway turntables(you can see it in the front right of the pics) and the second result was Plimmerton,a quick look at satelite view gave me a pretty good idea of where i though the pic was taken, but i overshot the entrance the first time.So i have been round Sketchy's roundabout 4 times today the last time was nearly a complete revolution.

New tag taken on the way back from the last one.
The way to this one is not without its hazards, so take it easy. It's windy - in both senses of the word, all too tempting to break the speed limit and with gravel, heavy machinery, and a big patch of muddy standing water to watch out for. See my timing cover for recent evidence of the latter.

'02 Ducati 750 SS - dry weight: 183kg
Underpowered perhaps, so relatively speaking, you may be right. You've got 14HP on me but only 2Nm! How cheap are you? I've never got gas in the tank, so I could even be lighter! How many pies for lunch?
I'll live with the wide. Not much more than the handlebars in any case!
Not gonna compare to the Suzy...
And as for Bee Ems making it places - watch till 1:30 for a real GS, not these new pretend ones.
