Sorry Devo, but you only need to look at the map and follow the tags (dates/times). The evidence is there. On a week-end, it moves around Kapiti in a 5k radius. As I've said to others in PM's`, riding back and forward up SH1 (Centenial Highway) is not what I call fun. It got to the point that I stopped even looking once it got to Friday as there was no point. I always tried to play a level playing field. Plimmerton/Pauatahanui or on a late night drop, place it where it could be picked up on the way into Wellington (Porirua station for example).
But as others have said to me. If I don't like it, don't look. Today's visit was just that. A visit. :bye:

Not back. Just popped in to see if the format had reverted to the original rather than the us against them mentality. Obviously, it hasn't.

Hey Hawkeye - sorry that you not happy with the way this had evolved. It is just a game, and all games involve a certain amount of competitiveness and rivalry. But at the end of the day we all know that its not about them against us, Rapa against the rest of the world, or me against you. Its just about going out, having a nice ride, meeting new faces in strange places. Its been fun, I have met some great people, made some great new friends, and most importantly, for an agin returned rider - its given me so much confidence, just being out on my bike (ok, sometimes on the back:laugh:), pushing the boundarys and making myself get out there. So thank you TagARama for that:wari:. Anyway Hawkeye - you know we will always welcome your input and your tags.

Ok if the townies couldn't lift it out of Old Porirua road before the mighty yella monster worked its way there via EVERY western hutt diversion my spies could arrange,(lol sorri Q) well it deserved to get 'coasted' and enjoyed by some others who like to have a play:confused:

We kept it all day Saturday and it moved a few times- all good we had a lot of fun with BeemA and CloggY:wari:
And to be FAIR those Hutt tags were no farther apart than the kapiti ones tend to get- it does happen when ya thinking -' get tag and get home with new tag-'

DrogeNs minds on the 300- LaxI sneaks in on the side and RWH is a new factor _(bet hes up the coast stealing it back!):shutup:

I hear what your saying Hawkeye, and your a good bloke but if for 1 or 1.5 days of the week it floats about in Kapiti on a shortish leash so our coastal fraternity get to play too, so be it.:2guns:

Maybe we need the WellY ridders to be more active in keeping it ahead of the SketchY- QuasI hit teams!:Punk:

I can understand where H/E's comming from, the reason I backed off the tagging was being unemployed I couldn't justify the gas to ride for miles knowing the chances were high that I get beaten to the tag, having said that, I take the "them against us" aspect as good hearted competition, and the fact remains that many times the tag sat in wellington with no one showing interest and the coasters have shown a dedication in riding anytime, anywhere to get it. I'm just picking tags when I have the means to get them at the moment, no point getting upset, if I've got the gas and the tags up the coast on a day like this, I'll just go for a ride! hopfully see you on the wncr Hawkeye:niceone:

I think it is logical that the tags end up being close together. Everyone is trying to beat there fellow taggers to the tag. If they are organised, they may have a "tag I prepared earlier", but if they are like me, they'll most likely get the new tag on the way home from the current tag. Hence the tag is likely to be in close proximity to the current. I do this with the intention of keeping the game moving along, having being on the receiving end of a bit of stick for taking so long to post a new tag.

Any social community game based on a loose set of rules will evolve over time. If any part of the community is disadvantaged, then the rules need to looked at. I say looked at, not necessarily added to, cos we all know to many rules is dull. If the rules still fit with the original intention of the game, then people will just have to compromise.

Well said everyone.

We are all here for different reasons. We ride when work family finance etc permit, we derive different satisfactions from the game,
( the ride, the hunt, the competition, the friendships ).

Play as you like, ride when you can, but in all things enjoy.

We are a long time gone.

And the new one, just on time for "Talk like a Parrot day"! Nice and twisty road to get there. If by extraordinary this tag is not retrieved before night time, a pic at the bottom of the hill on either side would be fine, as this road could be unfriendly in cold nights.

Btw, be careful on that road. There were slow (but considerate) tourists, police cars, a wandering duck family and a mad tow truck driving on the wrong side of the road (that one was a bit too close for my taste).

[edit] Oh, and we might not have reached 300 tags, but we have more than 300 pages now :)

rode past a biker accident on the way back, was just at the botom of the pikok hill. he was on an old black suzuki. ute was through a fence... bike was on the other side of the ute.

then the 250 club (15 people) came up the hill with 3 cop cars lights blairing behind them...

i'm sure that will put many of them off riding bikes...

and if i got lost leaving the Sand-Bar, i would stagger past... gettng to recognise this land mark and realise that i had turned right instead of crossing the road to get home.....

Keeping in mind too that the GN250 Design has not changed since they came out around 1982 ( I think ).
Cant call what mine used to do up the Haywards, but it had a nasty habit of occasionally mis firing only on that hill which on a single Cylinder used to be a little disconcerting.

thought about the two movies having a bambi and a thumper in them... my bike exhaust plays the thump thump thump tune, so thought that was way too obvious plus thumper was a wabbit in the movie bambi and bunnies tast good, plus bambi in 007 was hot, so i called her bambi. plus bikes are always girls... i have never heard a guy call their bike or car a "he"... EG: today i rode big dave over the taka's...

The most boring building one, i wanted to use the side veiw of it but there was allways cars parked when i went past. I knew that veiw was to easy for a certain man. Good on ya for getting it Drogen.

we were setting up the photo, when the others turned up toooo late.. but they wanted to be in the photo... think they just posers...

did the following opened the flikr image page then open the image so it is viewed in it's own page ( no flikr just the image ) then copied the address line from browser.
In forum post go advanced and on the manage attachments there is an option to upload image from url. Paste flikr address here. image then displays in the forum as below

The last Tag I got was on the same road about 800m away at the lighthouse/beacon thingy at the Massey memorial point.

Well it DOES, its the RED spot in the black pic- time exposure of the beacon on its roof :doh:

Its the 1st laybye past runway on MOA point road :shifty:

5 degress and a southerly wind- couldnt see out of visor for salt spray after leaving tjis location rode right back to Taranaki Shell open faced where I washed the visor lol :cold:

63 freezing kms round trip from home- Spacey mate your TAG your call :done:

Will have new one ready at 8am in the morning if he confirms :Punk:

Very careful comparison of the red spot shot and the blurry sign bottom left- with 'attempt 2' you can see the correlation, can even see a faint glimmer of the red beacon in attempt 2- JUST

Theres a reactor in that building that produced Isotopes for the medical world (cancer patients etc)

Used to remove the waste to welly airport where us military planes would fly it out to some unknown destination

Well.....you can get a file and 'buff' the tire surface mate

Thats a no shit piece of advice form Bryce who owns Buckets n Bits he reckons thats much more effective than a ride scrubbing - faster and safer too
Just make sure you apply it evenly, eg no 'gouging'

I miss the 750 already but im much more comfy on the ST

Shinko have got a few better tires than the ones on the Hyo's too- like all brands they have budget (yek) and more upmarket- he got thier 'best' at 129$ :laugh:
Hes been travelling incident free on it for 3 months now but he did follow that advice and scrubbed it with a fine file 1st

Yep drogen a fine wood rasp is perfect, all you gotta do is 'scuff' its surface to remove the detergents left behind by the moulding process, dont leave any flat spots!
This is a tip from a guy that KNOWS his tires mate (not from me) :)

A minor job turned into a bit of a marathon, having to wait for parts from far flung places. Its just about finished and he will be parading at Manfield :soon:(i hope otherwise he is prob going to slit his wrists:no:) He misses his baby too.....

Drogen's story
Drogen picks up bike from bike shop extremely happy to have Bambi back.
before taking off Drogen remembers something Stoney said about WMCC screwing thing up and forgetting to do things...

Drogen check oil, petrol, belt, front forks... and so on, then Drogen turns bike on and noticed a strange sound when the bike was running... but puts it down to "havent heard Bambi for so long cant remember what she sounded like" so Drogen Rides off on his merry way, takes a quick ride round the bay's before heading to work. Drogen parks up Bambi, locks her up and goes to work.

5pm come's along, Drogen rushes out the door excited to meet up with Kinder for first tag on Bambi since accident... Drogen unlocks Bambi puts key in and pushes the starter button... nothing happens, Drogen checks kill switch... hahaha kill switch was on, Drogen turns off kill switch and try's again, Bambi spits and farts and spew's out a puff of smoke, not out the exhaust but out the header... Drogen confused.. "what the fuck was that"...

Drogen turns power off, powers back on and try's again... no smoke this time and Bambi kicks over but is shaking violently and making a really sick sound... Drogen turns off bike and checks engine, oil, petrol (not in that particular order) and notices that only one header pipe is warm... Drogen deducts that 1 piston is not firing and call's WMCC who come and pick up bike.

Drogen is now stuck in Welly with no bike and no way to get home just as the WMCC guy say's "sorry im off work and heading home", Drogen decides not to disturb really pregnant wife tucked up nice and warm at home, so asks biker that parks next to his bike for a ride home... cheers for the ride 'teal Harley guy' with orange mufflers...

Drogen is very sad and annoyed as he took Friday off for Bambi play...

i think they must have not put one of the spark plug caps on properly as for the smoke i have no idea where that came from...

smoke could be half burned fuel from the non firing cylinder...temp in exhaust pipe is so high that the fuel from the non firing cyclinder will burn when it reaches the Joining point of the two pipes

they are awesome bikes and extreamly reliable have never had any problem with Bambi since i got her, those XB12X bikes are awesome adventure bikes look cool to...
