I reckon its out Paekak/Akatarawa /kapiti way.The way the hills are deepely eroded sorta looks like the area .Dont think its Paekak hill though, and there is obviously a pine tree or three about

I have no doubt that would be considered "brainless" anyone with a gps or google maps can find a map reference in 2 secs:nono:
as soon as the wife gets home going for a ride over the haywards, if its not out that way i'll have to turn around and go for a longer ride in the other direction, I love this game! any excuse to get on the bike:clap::rolleyes:

I dont know about google maps, but I'm running google earth 5.01bla bla and it supports lat long. As you move your cursor over the map the coordinates at the bottom of the page roll.

There may be a goat/ram on the side of the road, was there when I went past, scared the crap out of me when I saw it, but it didnt chase me luckily

The tag was on Moonshine Hill Road, just a little past the intersection with Moon Ridge Road. There is a sharp 15 km/hr corner. I am not quite sure whether the tag was before or after this corner. I took these pics straight after the corner.
A "nice" little loop road according to Eugene. I am glad I did not go and get this tag first thing this morning. Even at 1 pm the road was still slippery and wet with lots of parts in the shade. As well as that it is has loose gravel, is very narrow, and patch up jobs to hell and back. 1st gear all the way in and back for me, 20 km/hr and still had two scary moments with cars flying around blind corners.
It was certainly an experience. Would be a nice road on an adventure type bike or something.

I think you got the spot Cloggy. My spot was just before the 15KM Hr corner coming from the Upper Hutt side.If i can get a single frma from my little video will be interesting to compare angles

Sorry I really thought this was a cool road, and after going through the akatarawas I thought it was an awesome finish. Its quite amazing how long the frost and moisture stays around. It was absolutely freezing down the akatarawas when I went down (at about 3-4 in the afternoon), with lots of frost still on the side of the road. Wasn't quite so bad when I went down moonshine road. As its winter there is alot of parts on the road that are still wet and slippery after mid day, so extra care is always needed.

No worries Eugene, I am not complaining, but I was glad to get of that piece of road. Even on a good summer's day I would not ride that road for fun. Just too narrow, bumpy and winding for my liking. Doesn't seem to suit my bike.
I don't like the Akatarawa Hill Road for the same reason, but I don't have a problem driving that in my 4x4 which has a bit of protection up front. I feel too vunerable on the bike on those narrow bendy roads.

Once you have got a map going Cloggy I will put a link to it on the 1st post.I was going to swing past a couple of old tags. The newlands one i was actually going to go to my two guesses first to see if i could duplicate the pic from a slightly different spot.I changed my mind when i saw a green faired bike like yours laxi on the motorway this afternoon just north of belmont,so i went straight home to find i had already been beaten

http://maps.google.co.nz/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&ll=-41.137296,175.065765&spn=0.659866,1.235962&z=10&msid=105221927703340356676.00046ba94b48085d001cf
Should be a map with the two latest tags showing so far.
If the map is showing can you guys edit the map? You should be able to as permissions have been set to everyone.
Maybe setting permissions to everyone is not a good idea. It should probably be only the people participating in this game. But in that case we need to know email address of those people so permissions can be set individually.

I've always come in from the other end so you can spot it a while off. Would be good to have a sign at the start of the bridge beconing out "BEER" so that everyone pulls in. Saw ya come flying off the bridge and hitting the brakes. Its amazing the actual distance it takes to slow down from that speed.

I don't think so.
It was at the end of King Charles Drive in Kingsley Heights, Upper Hutt.
Seeing as the tag was taken in near darkness this morning, I didn't think it would matter too much to take one in the dark this evening.
Put the camera on a tripod, left the shutter open for 12 seconds and voila, good enough to make out the tree and the gutter on the left hand side and hill on the right hand side.
Will post a new tag tomorrow evening.

hahaah i thought...hang on the church photo is brighter than the park....A little bending of teh rules is ok for the winter I reckon, but lets agree that all photos are Fresh....I reckon taking a new tag BEFORE the old tag is ok if you take the pic on the same "mission",but preferable to get the new tag AFTER the current one.I know this may create time penalties, for some, but it sorta evens out over the region enabling "locals" a bit of an advantage, but should help spread the game evenly???
Does the church have gates?A daylight pic is sorta required isnt it?.I know where it is

hey, nothing wrong with wainui. Little bit short of money at the moment so cant really play the game for a little bit. Was tempted to take the AG down and get the park tag, but then would not have been able to move it far :crybaby:

So does anyone else have an idea of where this is?
Keen to get this tag but running out of daylight?
I'm sitting here wondering if there is enough light there to take a pic, can't recall if the place is lit up at night. Couldn't be as dark there as where I took that pic up Kingsley Height last week. Can't see any gates on the drive way on Google Streetview either so could be a go. :wait:

I just went and had a look. Just as I arrived a gentleman on a Black Katana pulled out of the driveway. I didn't speak with him but I assumed his reason of being there was the same as mine. So if he was there for that reason he can have the tag. He better post it quick though seeing BMWST? in planning on going there this afternoon as well.

Would like to haved looked inside,we are doing a church in Stokes Valley at the moment some of the details are proving a bit of a headache...
St Alban's is the second church to be built in Pauatahanui. It is located on the site of the pa Matai Taua, built in 1846 by the Ngati Toa leader, Te Rangihaeata, nephew of Te Rauparaha. In 1857 W. Blackie built a small interdenominational chapel on land donated by a local settler, Thomas Hollis Stace, for the purpose. By 1890 the chapel, which was also used for a schoolroom, was too small. The parish undertook to raise the money for a new church, and eventually the architectural practice of Clere, Fitzgerald and Richmond was commissioned to draw up the plans. The foundation stone was laid in August 1895, and Bishop Wallis consecrated the church in 1898 on St Alban the Martyrs Day (17 June). The original chapel remained standing until 1908 when it was demolished.
A simple Gothic Revival church, the building has lancet windows, external timber-framed buttresses and, in the interior, scissor trusses with knee braces. The apse is semi-circular in plan. In general the building is timber-framed, with rusticated weatherboards on the exterior and tongue and groove lining in the interior. It has a steeply pitch corrugated iron roof.
St Alban's church has served the Pauatahanui community for over 100 years. It has strong links to the early farming community of Pauatahanui, which raised the money for its construction. St Alban's has architectural significance as a well-resolved timber, Gothic church designed by Clere, Fitzgerald and Richmond, one of the most prominent architectural practices in Wellington. Frederick de Jersey Clere (1856-1952) was a noted architect in Wellington and, from 1883, was Diocesan Architect of the Anglican Church.

Sorry, I didn't take a pic after seeing Hawkeye there. I was pretty certain he was there for that very reason.
Good to see that there is some competition to get these tags.
I'll have to have a look to see if the other tagging games around the country are as fast moving as ours.
