Thats just a selfish tag man, many of the players were counting on some tagging for the break as where we all get to party and play indians on the coast, it is IMO a very selfish tag that will limit the remainder of the playtime for those in the home region over the holiday

I agree. Eugene hasn't been playing in the game for a number of months now (18th Sept was his last tag- before that it was 8th July).


This is just his childish way to get everyone to attend the rally. Well, I for one am not attending the rally for a number of reasons. I am on holiday and the sun is shining. Therefore his childish, thoughtless tag has killed the game for those of us who are not going to the rally.

I totally agree with this Devo. I for one wouldn't go there on my bike and i dont think many others would, i vote it null invoid and BMWST post a new one thats if he hasn't gone to get it. Well it seems the regular taggers on here are all thinking along the same lines.
I gotto agree as well. The tag is more akin to the adventure tag than our streetable tag.
Laxi and Eugene did ride 2x road bikes to the spot but Laxi did comment how rough the road was and how it rattled loose bolts etc on his bike.
It is not a short stretch of dirt by the sounds of it to get there. I certainly wouldn't risk either of my bikes over dusty rutted roads with creek crossings.
If beemer gets the tag today all good and well, if not, then I am also of the opinion the tag should be void and beemer places a new valid one.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't go alone. I've ridden out to the general location, but didn't go that far, mostly for that reason. So fair call, it's probably a bit much.

And you've probably got a belt drive, which I understand is a bad mix with gravel too.

I have only just had my bike replaced after hitting gravel and that was on tarmac.


If you look at the vid from the meet at Wianui, Laxi was happy to ride his bike through a stream not just a creek. And we all know that Eugene will ride MOST of his bikes anywhere. (would he take the ZX10 to this spot?)

I am not prepared to risk another bike going to get what I consider to be an off-road tag. If you guy's are prepared to call this a valid tag , then your welcome to it. I'm not interested.

Pretty sure there is, but not sure how many play. Your other one was in winter and people weren't looking at playing such a fast game so there wasn't the problem like today. Its been a nice day for tagging and it has sat out of reach of the majority of players today, as i said the timing is what i feel was wrong.

Well take you're road bike! That's what you're suggesting we do!
Why? if it is so accessable for road bikes, are you prepared to take your off road bike on the back of a trailer, behind a 4x4 rather than taking your road bike to get it. Because you're not prepared to risk your road bike.
Well I'm not prepared to risk my road bike either.
Distance is not the issue here. If it had been dropped at the far side of Gladstone, I would quite happily go get it. What I won't do is risk the bike getting an adventure tag.


What has happened today is there are a number of us on holiday, the sun has been shining and would have been a great day to spend tagging. Instead, the tag has sat all day due to someone who has not been playing the game for quite a long time, being childish and taking the tag to what most of us consider unaccessable on expensive road bikes.

And for the record. Had I still had my CBX250RS which I paid $100 for, I would be quite happy to go get the tag from there. That is the point. I don't mind risking a bike that would cost me the price a mirror if I dropped it. But dropping the GSX would cost me a lot more to repair.

Bars is now open so if it sit's there 5 day's, I don't care. I will NOT be risking my bike to go get it.

Was a beautiful day when i left here.At the last minute i took my leggings and a woolen jersey.Good job i did too it turned cool as soon as i hit the hill.It was cold from then on.When I got to the campsite Eugene wasnt there but Laxi tod me the tag was only 10 minutes away si went to get it,couple of steepish rough bits and a deep sandy stretch.I passed the tag and went a bit further.At a nother stream crossing was a Toyota Caldina Station wagon.They had stopped at the stream where there were large rocks and the entry to the stream was a drop .I was amazed to see the guy cross the stream but he got stuck trying to get up the other side.A lady(chinese i think) asked me "how far to Wainuiomata"?.I said I didnt know how far but they wouldnt make it that car.She says It is shown on the Map..By this time Eugene has arrived.He reiterated they wouldnt make it in that car and a gate would be locked.The guy turned around taking a couple of solid knocks under the car as he did so.So I then put on my jersey and we headed back.The car was stuck again so we pushed them up a rise as the guy avoided the biggest rock and burning rubber as he tried to get up the little rise.

i remember you guys all kicking up a stunk about my Avro road tag that i put about 2km down a gravel firebreak when i was using the GN250... but some one still got it...

the rules state if a road bike can get to it its valid. so i say tag is valid till some one gets it.


Fair go Drogen we have got to have tags that can be got by anyone with little risk.Its not fair placing a tag in any situation that every single person in the game cant or wont get.And by risk i mean 1) risk of damage to a road bike(eg groundclearance),or 2) risk of coming of cos of slippery/loose surfaces.

Your avro road tag was dodgy for two reasons.1) it was actually on private property and 2)not on a proper road. It happened to be out of street view too so was not findeable by any reasonable means.When i got it (you virtually told me where it was)I went down a few side tracks(and got stuck once) ,after deciding i would risk the trespass.I suggest in the most diplomatic way possible that if you want to place tags that you are gonna use the DR you place em for the ADV guys.Use the Buell for this game.:2thumbsup

i have been to this area before and its a short 2km of hard gravel and 2 small streams... the rest of you would be sweet to get it but i have a belt instead of a chain so if i get a stone or sand in my belt its fucked...

Gravel tracks MUST be navigable to ALL bike types and my ST cant do this piece of road
The campground at the Nui was as rough a track as anyone should have to tollerate and no further than a couple of hundred meters

This tag Eugene placed was nothing but bullshit, if not for BMWST being willing to rescue ot in principle, it was a game killer

The other point is so many of the players were not attending the rally, so leave the fucking tag where it CAN be played

I for one wanted it veto'd immediately, and will be pushing for a rule change to limit off road access, no ones gonna cause potential suspension, chain and even fairing damage to my 13,000 dollar Ducati just coz his entire fleet of old shitters is considered expendable

Well, the weather was utter crap Q, and my ST was reluctant to get too wet and we couldnt fit the Smiley One in the top box as well, so in the interests of giving the ST an outing, we teamed up with the Mighty Turbo, stole his buell carrier, and off we went!

At least we placed the next one on a place any bike can go......and kept the game rolling too!

I got a bit lucky - I was sitting outside BNT on Kapiti Rd, refreshing my view on my phone. When I saw it, my only guess was it looked 'marine', so I headed for the beach, and almost immediately found the skate park - which was wrong. After that, I had almost no idea, except that it didn't look residential, so I just rode around commercial areas. It was on at least my second pass through that I decided to try that side street and happened to spot it. While I was there, the devos spotted me taking the pic, as they were driving round searching in their cage :) The invite back home to upload was most welcome :)

I originlly went to get the little playground at the back of the libaray which you can see from the street as you drive past but the fence made it to hard thats when i saw this and thought aha sweet. Getting night pics is hard. I've got a little 120mm tripod that i use so i'm not holding the camera as any movement makes it blur. This time i used the sculptue to sit it on. Heres another couple of angles i tried including the sculpture which i was going to post. I thought Devo and Mrs Devo as it turns out would of regognised the building roof lines in these though to easy.

Im out for tonight, in need of rest before heading out again with the team mate.

Coast was awesome, came home via Gladstone, Pahiatua, Palmy with visits on way.

Had a blast on centaurus Kwaka, god that thing does great wheelies, even on sand!!!

rwh ate far too much salty food with too little to drink at Thursday's after-work drinks, leading to dehydration. He then compounded the problem by riding around half the night on a noisy motorcycle. The headache this morning was eased by paracetamol + ibuprofen + Coca-cola + a pie and a sausage roll from the service station, but stuffing it into a helmet was still unappealing :(

He also feels constrained by the fact that switching from the third to the first person within one post would look odd.

The current tag is identified, but wouldn't suit a night shot, he thinks.
