Weather is looking good for the weekend.:sunny::niceone:

A few of us from HMCC are going for a ride Sunday leaving BP tristram at 10am, destination unknown but around 200-300kms.

Usually ok if anyone wants to tag along but not really for beginners.

Good idea. We've got our fingers crossed that the one time we'll be able to go up this year we won't be waiting for chains. We sold the Subby for a ute. We considered a 4wd one but they're an extra $5k roughly and that can buy a shit load of chains and season passes! I do miss the subby though. Thank god I sold it to the folks ;)

I am now road riding again but at the same time Trina's bike is "on hold". As such I do not foresee me or the Clubroom crowd organising or promoting via this site too many rides over the next 3 month period. It also becomes difficult with changeable weather etc.

Jim will be keeping the thread updated with Ulysses rides and if anyone wants to organise a Sunday ride or any other ride Go For It.

Once we get to better conditions more rides will start appearing as I know everyone who went to last years New Year Eve party ride and Auckland anniversary ride and some others we went on are keen to do it again!!

Still anywhere between 8-18 people turning up at the Te Rapa on Wednesday evenings from 5.00ish onwards, if anyones got a free evening. Early September the clubrooms will be shifting round the corner to a new swish location in Sunshine Ave

cheers and safe riding

Go to the old Te Rapa Tavern - knock on the door and no one will answer!! As you leave the carpark turn right into Te Rapa straight and head north. 100 odd metres down the road is a roundabout, turn left at the roundabout and 100 metres down the road on the left is the new Rapa Tavern OPENING EARLY SEPTEMBER.

Basically at the back of the first turn on the Te Rapa race course

I don't know if you guys recall but a few years ago I rode down from Auckland on my 400cc Burgman scooter to join you on a Sunday ride.
Now I've moved from Auckland to Morrinsville - I'm back in the Waikato!
I'm trading the Burgman in on a Suzuki RF900 today (Friday) - going to need to give it a good ride at some point!
I'm gonna need to practice my riding at legal (mostly) speeds, gotta get used to about the same weight but about 4x the power.

So yeah, I might be keen on a nice relaxed ride with you guys again.
Maybe not this weekend with the crappy weather, but I'm sure we will get a nice bit of riding weather at some point in the next few weeks.

In the hottest weather in NZ I'll still wear Dragin' Jeans at least and my leather jacket with winter lining removed and my summer gloves - I like my skin to stay on my body.
I've seen videos where someone is riding in shorts & t-shirt, the thought of doing that makes me cringe.

Bloody annoying that. We were talking about this yesterday since we've been holding out to buy mum some more gear. Weren't too sure if it was on and it only said online sale on their website. So we missed out.

The real funny thing is I checked their site on my phone... Knob! How about using your bloody phone as a phone for a change!?

Would have missed it still anyway. We started talking about it at 2:30 so it would have been closed. Never mind

There was already 20 people in there. Needed boots and got some Dririder ones for $99 down from $249. Almost got some Technic boots but they felt as comfy as undersized Clogs. Also some Dririder gloves ( just to have an extra pair ) from the seconds bin for $20. The only fault is that one seam of the velcro wrist fasteners was un-stitched! An easy fix and a bargain for gloves that retail for $150.

I would have probably missed out if not for noticing it on Boyds Facebook page.

Amazing how they probably turn their slowest day of the year into one of the busiest. Also shows how much markup is in stuff when the distributor dumps it.

Jim, I read the notice at Honda Hamilton. I had first thought this ride was all done on the one day. The calendar on the Ulysses site indicates these 12 points can be collected over 3 dates in J, Aug & Sept. Is that correct, and are the rides done as a group ride, or done individually. ?

Good turn out last night at the club rooms.
Jim has a Ulysses ride on Sunday going to Pareroa stopping in the gorge for a break and Waihi beach for lunch and back via the Kaimai's. leaving at 9.30 from Hillcrest petrol station (I believe). A few of us have talked about leaving 11.00ish and meeting/catching up with them in Waihi if anyones interested

Twas a good ride, 6 of us heading off at 11.00 pm and through to Pareroa for a quick stop and no we did not crash into the L&P bottle. Do a google search if you dont know what Im talking about. Met up with Jim and the Hamilton and Tauranga Ulysses crowd at Waihi Beach for 1/2 hour or so but they didnt want to wait for us and shot through. Good ride back via wairoa road and Kerry led us all astray again. Lost us in Waihi Beach and Wairoa road. So much for GPS. Really good ride and as we start warming up and bikes start coming off hold watch out for some more to come.

Well I hope they stick to it as well - it wasn't just hijacked by others, so who's going to say what is and isn't about socialising around Hamilton?
I think they just want to limit the thread to who is in their precious little group, or more likely who they would like to exclude from their group.
If there was a problem perhaps they could've PM'd offenders first requesting they discontinue posting that type of stuff on the thread, or at lest put a post up outlining acceptable and not acceptable subjects.
Perhaps they need their own web site?

Remember this one;

If the weather is nice next weekend I'd definitely be keen for another ride out to Raglan. It's a nice ride now that the road has been fixed up a bit, and the Waignaro stretch has had a lot of work done as well, so only two or three patches of gravel then it's smooth sailing.

I've stopped filling up at dinsdale caltex. My bike might just be sensitive to crap fuel but about 20km after filling up there my bike started spluttering and losing power. I drained the gas, switched to reserve (which was full of bp gas luckily) and filled the main tank at the next station and she's run mint ever since.

Interesting. I usually always fill up at Caltex (because I live right next to one) and my bike often splutters and struggles on cold, damp mornings. Always put it down to the weather, but I might try refueling at BP for a few weeks, see if that helps.

I've filled up at that caltex quite a few times before and it's been fine. But I got a bad batch and when there are other options, bridges burn fast. I know gas stations need to test their fuel for moisture levels (all petrol has water in it) if there is too much water in the petrol they should pick it up and rectify it. I'll take my business to a company who checks their fuel better. And I'm a big spender on petrol(I spend about $20 per week :p).

I don't often fill up there - just happen to live over the road so it is a good meeting place. Can't say I've ever had a problem when I have used their fuel though.

I've always had a negative thing with Caltex. I always get that dirty feeling with them (and I think they're slow to adapt business wise). Never liked their fuel but it's more than likely a placebo thing. Pretty much use Shell with BP than Mobil as the back ups. Brooke's not a fan of Caltex as well. Dunno what her excuse is.

I've been filling up there pretty much every week or so for the last 8-years and never had a problem, sounds like a random event, could happen anywhere.

k folks, heres the deal for this ride:
Meet at Papakura Autobahn at 8.30am for a 9.00am roll. From there we head south passing through Huntly and Ngaruwahia until we arrive at the Viands Bakery in Te Awamutu (www.viandsbakery.co.nz)
Hook into a number of the fine, traditional home made pies which this establishment is famous for then its saddle up and head north stopping off at the Waingaro Hotel for a pint of your favourite (www.waingarohotel.co.nz)
All up a full day on the road doing what we do best, riding bikes, eating pies and drinking pints.....who could ask for anything more..
I want to thank Leathal for putting this ride together, checking the routes and venues and generally be an all round good egg. Chipper work old boy....

I was looking at doing a regroup on the way down where the rivers meet (the park) Ngarawahia

Way back I wanted to go Waingaro from the Raglin road but there are a few new riders heading along and if its wet the nice windy road might get a little slippery so will go in from Ngarawahia to the pub and those looping back south can go out to the Raglin road and those wanting a windy road north can do 22, I will lead back to Huntly

If the link works this is my intended trip, Might bypass Otorohuga and go down Te Kawa road

Possibly a south Waikato loop. Otorohanga, Te Kuiti, Bennydale, Whakamaru and back through Old Taupo Road/Arapuni.

I might pass on this. If I go out, I think I will either nosy around the track day, or just do a cafe run somewhere (eg. one of Raglan, Te Kuiti, Tokaroa, Okoroire).

The trackday is tomorrow though, whereas the ride was planned for Sunday I think. I still don't know when we will go skiing, so will see. But if I'm free tomorrow I think I will head up to Hampton Downs. Last time I was there I was able to have a look at one of the Brittens :)

I thought it was gonna be a bit on the flash side. Sounded like it was gonna be one of those glass industrial type looking/feeling buildings. What's the size of it like? The old one was a bit of a monster for a local suburb bar.

If the weather plays ball I 'm looking at dragging both the folks out on their steads this weekend to hopefully get them interested in joining you lot next weekend. I'll be clutching on to the winter and heading up the mountain otherwise I'd ride myself.

Hi guys, im in Hamilton and just picked up a road bike, I've been doing trackdays and racing for the past year or so on a gsxr600 and a hyosung 250, and been riding on the road for 10 years prior to that. Im keen to get back into road riding, I dont like going quick on the road as i prefer to save it for the track and often have the missus on the back..... How often do you guys head out for rides on the weekend?
Is there one organised this weekend? Im at the track allot so wont be able to attend all the rides but keen on the odd one.

Cheers Dave

If you follow this thread, rides will be notified regularly. You can come and go as you please.

I had a mate who would always get it wrong, he would put his clock back at the start of daylight saving and would be two hours late. Our time would go forward an hour and his would go back and hour making a two hour difference.

Corrected time 7am, his clock would be at 5am making his actual 7am two hours earlier than ours...making him late....I think? better stop this my eyes hurt :(

LOR group - Sunday leaving Kingsgate Hotel Car park 9.45 to meet up at Te Kowhai (as below)

The rest is pretty sweet on the way down…. We will stop in Te Kowhai to pick up Waikato riders meeting there. The Pie shop is at the far end of Kihi-Kihi if you get lost somewhere. (http://www.viandsbakery.co.nz/)

Trip to Wangaro pub we continue south to Te Kawa service station refuel for those that need it (145K’s at this stage) then across to SH39 and back to Ngaruawahia BP service for top up for the rest of us (just over 200 K’s) and topup for those with limited distance. Then out to Wangaro Pub (http://www.waingarohotel.co.nz/) …

LOR will probably turn off at morman temple road on way back up SH39 unless anyone wants to continue onto waingaro

I don't think I will be able to say for sure until I get home Saturday night (7pmish). If I am not there, I am not there, you can just laugh about my hang over! :P

The Pie shop is at the far end of Kihi-Kihi if you get lost somewhere. (http://www.viandsbakery.co.nz/)

FYI there is another Viands bakery on Alexander street of Te awamutu :corn: better parking, ATM machines ,Shell Z 100mtrs away & other food options if anyone needs them...... just saying :innocent:

full pie warmers :killingme the weekends are their busiest which is why they have 2 shops FYI as you approach the bakery on the down hill side there is a road to your left CHURCH STREET turn in here (dont park outside the bakery or on the side road ) & immediately to your right is a rest area you can park in ( heaps of room for the bikes ) which is off the main road & directly across from Viands :niceone: if I get all my chores done tomorrow I might join in :shit:

Yup they told me about that parking spot, they also preferred the Kihi Kihi shop as the stop :)

Mind you the concrete pad in front of the shop and the street parking outside the pad will fit a lot of bikes if its not full of cars ;)

I wouldnt park there to be honest & it always has a car or 2 there  if its warm it will be cooler across the road as there is no ( or very little ) cover outside the shop, nice bush setting at the rest stop also but your fellas call just giving my $2 worth...

Yep nice cruisey day and great pies

Just over 30 bikes by my count and a good FBMC number and a poor Waikato LOR turnout - need to get some of those bikes dusted off guys & gals
