If you clean off all the bugs, it will only get dirty again when you DO go out. So go out BEFORE you clean it - that way you only have to clean it the once...and if you're clever, you'll use this logic indefinitely...like I do...

It is certainly a stange possition to ride in the ol twist, I tried to impliment it. My body was saying... yeah ... maybe.. yeah ok.. but the brain was going.. F'Off!! do what you know your body is too wasted. And yeah it was!!! hehe farrr.. I need to lay off the V and Cookietime biki every morning honestly :P

Was good to finally go on a ride with you hehe

Will see what I can do about the front suspension! It may or may not improve the riding and stability humm, the question is.. how many clicks,, MMMM.

When I adjusted my rebound it made a huge difference to my riding! I am picking setting the rest of the bike up and finding some happy medium. My biggest fair is never finding it though! hehe:scooter:

If you want to get the suspension working properly, invest the time and energy and a little coin and get it done by someone who knows what they are doing and talking about, no disrespect to the others offering you help above, but its a finely tuned art that involves alot more than adjusting the little knobs and things, you need to look at Sag, total sag etc etc.
My advise is to get it done right, get a few settings organised, road, track etc and take a note of it.
Also get a notebook and take note of EVERYTHING you do.........so you have a record and you can go back etc including tyre pressures.

You can get right into this stuff, but a few qualified setting adjustments will make your ride that much nicer.

Well it of course depends how serious you are, any muppet can tweak it but will they be doing it right............fuck knows you tell me lol , if you want it done right first time go and see Robert from CKT technical or Ray Clee or someone with qualifications to do it.

hahah most of us didn't have bikes we could adjust. Anyone going to the HMCC training will get their bouncy parts checked and adjusted. I know I'm leaving mine 'til then to see what I learn/they do. I'm sick of getting my ass kicked off the seat when I hit a bump.

...and I don't wanna hear I should slow down for judder bumps. 80km/h is a perfectly acceptable speed to go over them.

There were plenty that could be adjusted :bleh:

That would be my suggestion too, take your bike to a track training day and ask about suspension setup, take notes and get them to help you out.

it depends on what you like as well, i did the fork oil in the gixxer and found where it works.
if you want to, find a good quiet road, bring some tools, and we can work it how you want it.
you may find its easier to get what you want than you think.

If the cost is just pizza then fark! I'm in :)

On saturday I will be getting a little note book, winding my settings to all soft recording the number of clicks then setting them all back as a reference point.

Get some knowledge in my brain from speedtech would be a bonus. No offence to those who have recommended me a few ideas like backing off the suspension to full soft.. and working it hard.. that goes against what I feel is the right thing to do.. hehe I can see the nose diving out in the corners! hehe. I have a rough idea on how suspension works on a bike, just not practical experience. Speedtech sounds like the go

How much did it cost for them to look over your bike Adam ?

They are good people and they really know their stuff.

I think it would be best to give them a buzz (8478944) and ask them about costs for things and maybe get some advice from them when/if you want to do some stuff.

go fully soft, and wind them in as you see fit

after CKT did the RR on the BB I found the setting far to hard & rough for my liking, but decided to run with it for awhile till it became unbearable, now apparently the setting was setup according to my height/weight etc,etc & after talking to Robert Taylor his advise was ( as mentioned by Carver ) take notes of current setting then turn to fully soft setting THEN progressively turn back to hard until a setting is found by ME that suits ME for My type of riding... after all the advice you will get from the professionals it will come back to personal choice at the end of the day, but really you need to pay attention to what they say & learn for youself & therefore make slight adjustments as you start to understand your bike

use the 'get directions' function for the start and destination (ie Kingsgate, hamilton to Te kuiti)then drag the route to the roads you want to take once you have done that us the 'add destination' for the way home

alternately ask mister.koz or Leyton how to best use Motowhere

This is my thoughts for Sunday. One way route at the mo, we can pick our own way home once we get there. Some motorway stuff, some residential stuff, but quite scenic around that side. Not too sure how far past Little Huia the tar seal goes but we can wing that bit. I think its worth a look as we've thrashed most other routes around the greater Waikato

Map coming soon !!

That all looks interesting ...
... Small suggestion for the less adventurous could be to carry on up to just before the Rangiriri Bridge and take a left. Could make 22 more manageable for soft riders like me !!

But its not my route so I'd say lead on Rideon !!

Glenn murray road is a good option as well, quite nice as you get nearer 22
If Churchill road was sealed (& I don't know) that would be interesting as well, it follows the river a bit more & comes out by the Onewhero golf course.

You're putting heaps of pressure on the bars when going downhill aren't you? And sliding forward?

I do exactly the same. Hated downhills. It's the same as weight bias in a car. When you have a 60/40 split front to rear a car will understeer. Go downhill - weight on front, add body lean forward because of the hill - massive bias on the front wheel.

I started griping super hard with my legs coming into downhill turns and almost taking all pressure off my hands - pretty much hovering them over top. I'm doing it on the corners on the flat too since I'm shocking at having way too much weight pushing down on the bars.

But you may have a different problem  hahah

400kms would have been good for my rear tyre. I think it would only have 500-1000k left in it. Looked like a good ride apart from the Dorkland shit ;)

Sounds like a road just north of Wellington I had to take in my younger years because SH1 was closed. Trucks banned because it was so narrow and twisty. I thought it was one way until an SUV came the other way. I had to pull into a drive way for them too pass!!!

Ripped the exhaust off my mighty Gemini when I ran over a rock (which I thought the car was high enough to clear ) Sounded bloody mean after that  ah them were the days...

And a more appropriate note, drove over some o-4-awesome roads last night heading to a mates place. He's smack dab in the middle of 2-wheel heaven. Just around Mataa Mataa. funny how some instuctors are different, with Trina's test she wasn't aloud to excessed the 70k rule, but the guy I had said it was ok, as to keep the traffic moving.
having the ear piece was ok, was a bit muffled but could hear ok... he said that it is nice to know some people know left from right...chuuurr.

Now I will get my leather pants!!!! yeeeeah!

whoop whoop!!! :first:

You should have gone for a ride on Saturday like moiré (not sure if that's how you spell it since spell checker suggested it).

Headed to Matamata to scrub the rubber and darted down several back roads to avoid the mains. So far, I'm surprisingly impressed with the 2ct's.

Since I was lucky to avoid the rain I thought it would be mean of me not to ride in it. So off I went on another trip to Hamilton. I came to one conclusion...

I HATE THE FUCKEN RAIN!!!!!!! FUCK OFF ALREADY!!!!

woooooooosaaaa. Right calm again. It was a bloody good ride though around Matamata area's back roads.

I think it was about 5 because it was just started to get dark. I think it worked out to be about 4 hours with only one sit down stop. IN saying that isn't this a longer one?

If it is longer anyone wanting to get back early could always come back the main road which would cut off a chunk of time.

The gravel road that you went on the other week (when I buggered off early) is worse. Trust me. You'll be sweet. Believe me when I say, if I can ride it, you can.

Can someone explain the difference between a "technical ride" and a "non-technical" ride speaking in non technical jargon?

Non-technical rides are for new riders or people who want to cruise, they don't care about speed or how long they stop for. Usually a non-technical ride has a destination that has some attraction.

A technical ride is usually higher speed and specifically for tight corners or difficult riding positions, they normally have no real destination apart from food/petrol re-fueling stops and quite often they end with the riders hobbling around because the body takes a hit when you are hanging off the bike all day.

Its not dependant on the road its the ride and riders, e.g the coro loop over 5 hours with lots of stops is not technical, the coro loop over 3 hours with no stops is.

I'm going to call this a technical ride purely because whatever speed you you ride at you need to keep your wits about you as 95% of the corners are not signposted with a recommended speed and will often tighten or drop off mid corner... This is really a ride for the aware & alert rider.

If you are at the stage where you are coming to grips with & still learning what speed is good for what you perceive a corner will be then you will need to be very careful on this ride

It has alot of Technical corners which are not always what they initially appear to be

this road is brilliant for those who like corners (not so much if you want to know everything about a corner before you enter it). it has next to no traffic and last time i went the marokopa - awakino section has a great sealed surface (apart from the gravel section)

I have done quite a bit of this route solo but last time I looped back through Piripiri to Waitomo.

I found the road reasonably OK - I would agree that you need to have your wits about you - there was quite a lot of grit still on the road from winter. I just took my time, rode within my own boundaries and got there OK.

We won't discuss the carpark at Blackwater Cafe though will we....

Pity I can't come on this one - it is definitely on the to do list...

This is how I would also class a ride as technical. In my opinion it has nothing to do with speed but the complexity of the corners and how they flow in together (so to speak).

To me a technical ride is all corners that you can't take at a constant throttle.

Put it this way, the industrial section of the Frankton St circuit is very technical and the whole track and be class that way. Pukekoe is not. Not even remotely.

Does that help Muzza?
