Sadly you weren"t Hobby cause we was and it would have been nice to catch up with you both. no worries always a next time. Was a good ride down, bloody cold in the am from Drkland to Tron but otherwise great riding weather. Lotsa hardlies at the Oko, but they behaved themselves so no drama's.
Enjoyed the ride and Gillian"s Kwakasaki performed faultlessly, took 6 weeks of weekends and after works to get it's gearbag out, replace all the munched bits and put it back tog ether, big thanks to my broinlaw Brian who really did the bulk of the mecanicing.
So we're definitely off on the "Long ride South" with the online forum FBer's on Satdee the 28th of this new month June. Trina's new machine will! I'm told be up and running so looking forward to riding with her and Murray again.
Hope to see you.

Stink. Did it have a CCT failure? From what ive read all they do is bend valves. And you can convert the auto CCTs to Manual, mine has that.
Ive got a bit of info on them if you need help with it.

A few people meet up for food and drink at the Te Rapa Tavern on Wednesday evenings, although riding... apart from my daily commuting, whenever I have time on the weekends / it's sunny. Got a few friends that like to get out whenever they can for a ride to Raglan for a coffee and then head back... normally before lunch on Sat/Sun. If you want to tag along sometime, you're more than welcome to. Drop me a PM with your contact details and I'll text/call you next time we head out.

If your at a loss to do things on Sunday you might want to join up with this group for something different.
Sunday 20th July, 11am, Memorial Park, Victoria Ave, Cambridge.
This ride is being organised by the SpyderRiders but all two-wheelers are very welcome. The ride starts with names going into a hat, then one is pulled out and that person chooses the first destination. It can be a cafe, a nice view, a tourist attraction or just a good road. Whatever you want as long as it is only about a 40 minute ride. When you get there another name is drawn and the next destination chosen. This makes it a complete mystery tour. They tried this format around Auckland last month and it was a great success.
Don't forget ride up to Paeroa to join Fat Bikers Motorcycle Club for breakfast on 27th July leaving Kingsgate 10.15 for meet up Morrinsville 10.45

As an alternative for a ride on Sunday 27th, I'm going to leave the Te Awamutu Caltex stn about 10am. I've got a friends 250 Hyosung and will ride down to Piopio via the back roads of Waitomo. Have a bite to eat there then depending on the weather, return via Aria / Kopaki / Tekuiti / more back roads to Te A.
No highway riding so will just be a steady cruise. No gravel ( unless roadworks ). I've had a couple of other 250 riders that may be keen.

Not trying to gate crash the Breakfast ride but this could be an alternative option. Cheers.

Primo,
6 bikes left Kingsgate beautiful weather then fog hit us before Morrinsville (picked up another rider) and we stuck to the main roads via Te Aroha until fog lifted about 3kms south of Paeroa. met up with Supertwin Don and Meryl at Paeroa along with about 25 other bikes and bikers. had a good feed and headed back via the forest road through Te Kauwhata.
Lot of fun and a good ride away.

Its time for me to give up motorcycling for a SUV for the mountain bikes.
If someone wants a gv250 '07 22k ODO, WOF and Reg till Feb15 with leather pants, jack, gloves, 2xhelmets (boots are fked) then make me an offer - otherwise its going on trademe or stay sitting in the shed for summer rides.
I have enjoyed my short years reliving my 20's but with my near misses, ppl continuing to txt while driving, the freezing cold, the pouring rain and the heart wrenching gales - I will miss it in an odd sort of way. As I will do you guys (and gals).

With my 2nd to last night commute last nite - had a close call so close that my headlights exposed the look of terror of the driver who was on my side and thankfully swerved out the way before I could think to myself, "typical"
The Gods are obviously not finished with me yet.

If you do go out to Raglan, turn off onto the Temata rd then into the Ruapuke road. About an extra 20-30ks and you will need to turn back when the seal on Ruapuke rd runs out. Lovely corners.

Two of us headed out from Hamilton about 10am. Rode the back roads through to French pass. No traffic, road in good condition and the rain stayed away. Left then right into Taotaoroa rd, still one of the best roads around but today there was a strong cross wind. Across sh29, Totmans and Langland rd to Okoroire.
We didn't bother stopping but cruised on to Putaruru. We were going to get a snack there but the town had a massive power outage so we rolled on out to the Oreipunga road just past the dam. This road was clean of roadworks and it was a steady run into Lemington. I turned left to Te A and Phill motored on to Hamilton. We were home by midday. A short ride but a good one.
Next Sunday is also a day off for me so I will probably head off down towards Whakamaru/ Atiamuri way. Maybe do a loop around Ongaroto Tirohanga roads and back through Whakamaru, Ngaroma on to Te Awamutu. If anyone is looking for a laid back ride, I 'll comfirm this one later in the week.

Not that easy to do although I did get lost out there myself once. Not for long though - and even though the "locals" looked at me a lot, I got out alive...they looked a little like they were slavering at the time...I dunno...
You follow it long enough you get back OK. There are roads signposted back to Mercer etc along there. Just take care, it can be tricky.

I went down Ohautira Road from Waingaro road. Nice cruisy road especially after not being on a bike for 6 weeks. Took it slow as i didn't know the road and also all my gear was squeezing the shit outta me. Then I found the road joins onto the road that heads out to raglan so I was like ohhh yeah a road I know...but it had already missed out all the good parts so i stopped for a coffee and headed back. good ride though.

It did cost me a bit though as I spent $215 on 2 items at the auction: $150 for a motorbike service, courtesy of the Motorcycle Doctors, and I'm sure they enjoy the trip to Alexandra to service my bike; and $65 for a Remington shaver (worth $140) that I don't really need, but tried to push the bidding up to something reasonable. I also won a $100 voucher for being the rider who had travelled the most distance, and 2 raffles. Well one raffle really, as one of the winning tickets wasn't mine. I was passed 3 tickets as the other Hamilton riders were leaving, and of course one of them was a winner, and I'll hand that prize over to the true winner on Wednesday night.

Great to put a name to a face Jantar, enjoy the ride home, hope the weather Gods are kinder than they were today, though having said that, we none of us got too wet.
Was a pleasant surprise to welcome hobbyhorse to our humble abode this morning, that BM'er is looking sharp as mate.
Always a pleasure riding with the Waikato LOR and the southern FBMC'ers, looking forward to the school charity ride with you guys.

28TH SEPTEMBER
If anyone wants to meet up in Hamilton we will be looking at leaving from Kingsgate Hotel carpark - 10.45
Auckland group arriving at Kihikihi at
approx 11.30am ish, thereabouts, around then, that sort of time, you know then-ish..
DETAILS FROM FATT MAX: we will head to Kihikihi to imbibe in a pie or 8 at our now well
established official pie house, Viands Bakery.Once we have eaten, burped, farted and got the crumbs out of our beards (same goes
for the guys) we will trundle over to the Arupuni Dam, stop for a quick look and a leg
stretch plus any other bodily functions that may be necessary.
From there its saddle up and head over to Putaruru (which I shall try and pronounce
properly on the day) and through to the Okororie Hotel for a pint and a chin wag.
Once all done its make your own way home, hopefully fed and watered with a smile
Cant wait for this one folks, lets do our thing and have a day out.

I went out on Saturday - looked fine....ish
Of course I knew it would rain but had my wet gear on, actually it bucketed down at stages, other times it was fine, but the road was very wet
I loved it, I was dressed warm enough, my expectation was to just cruise, interest was held by picking and riding the dry line, avoiding the shiny stuff, rainbows and paint. A few times when they were unavoidable the bike slipped or adjusted as i would of expected and there were no surprises
At times I was in the zone and the bike feed back gave me confidence to push it a bit - It was a really enjoyable ride
despite the wet
I've always been a advocate for getting out in the wet and learning some new skills

This from todays news
Police have dubbed the past two days as a "horror weekend" for motorcyclists in Waikato after a multitude of serious crashes, including one death. A man in his 70s was killed after his biked collided with a car on State Highway 25 north of Thames on Saturday.
Just a few hours later a motorcyclist and his passenger were airlifted to hospital following a collision with a car in Waihi.
Police say the crashes come just as Waikato officers gear up for an operation targeting motorcyclists in the district.
Waikato road policing manager inspector Freda Grace says police are deeply concerned at the number of fatal motorcycle crashes this year.
"As we gear up for summer and the traffic picks up on popular coastal routes, we want motorcyclists and all other road users to take a moment to remember that the road is a social space involving people."

Great to catch up with the LOR at the Te Rapa tavern tonight.
As always a pint and a burger for a tenner was fine fair and the talk quickly got to bikes and upcoming events.
Will be looking into some of those in the next few days lads.
Got a pic or two of those bewtiful Suzuki Bandits parked out back the Janty. Noted that the gold wing had moved out.
Typical, aye, Get all the to the Tron of an arvo to nearly get killed by some stupid 20 something year old tart with 3 kids lined up across the back seat, of the main Franklin roundabout, she just wasn't going to let me take MY line around and off the round about, she literally kept attempting to drive into me. Got to a point where I simply had to wave to the guy out on my right giving me all the room he could and swerve rather widely around the front of her, that or ride straight into her drivers door. Bitch, a smile on her face all the way, had watched me go onto the roundabout and didn't move until I was literally on her. Knew I was there, just didn't not give a flying fuck, I seriously thought about riding into her door hard enough to screw it completely but not so hard as to damage the bandit.
But Na, too much agro and stress for the kids, her, I'd have done it if she was on her own.
Tried to kill me she did, eyes wide open, assasins smile on dial, didn't once actually bring her car to a stop, kept attempting to hit me in the side.
Don't know how you lot ride around amongst those sorts down there everyday.
Yep Wanganui sounds good mate, Ratbag said, hummmmm, K!

Hamilton North Special School - 8th Annual Charity Ride
http://www.silverbullet.co.nz/event.php?id=11474
Sunday, 23rd November 2014
This is an event that is open to anyone that rides a motorbike and is to raise money to help children with Special Needs.
Hamilton North School is a Special School, which caters entirely for students with Special Needs. The students are aged from 5 – 21 years. All have an intellectual disability and some with various complex disabilities. They often live in foster homes or in residential homes for the disabled. They are a very disadvantaged group of young people.
The various planned educational opportunities the school offers would most definitely not be available to these youngsters without the help of community support through such fundraising events.

Well.. I was going to take the TR500. It depends on my mood in the morning. You're welcome to tag along. Like I said I'm in no hurry, it doesn't do "slow" very well but I'll be stopping for pics and coffee!

Awesome day for the Hamilton Norths Special needs School, this ride is a must for anyone who has never done it. Their hospitality and accommodating welcome is just the best.
This ride should be a must for anyone who has never done it and of course if you have, you'll be back again and again.
Weather, spot on.
Venue, plenty of room for all and enough of everything to go around.
Badges, maps, food for breaky all available and nothing too darned dear, thanks for that .
Ride itself, well other than perhaps a destination with a bit of a stretch and look at something it was brilliant, roads were dry and traffic light, riders rode with consideration and as far as I know no one got absolutely lost or distressed.
Coming back again next year.
Bring your mates, lets get this ride humming for the kids.
Love those Indians.

If any are interested a few or more of us are heading to the Kingsgate Dine & Dance night on Friday 12th December.
If anyone wants to come along and make a bigger group you are more than welcome.
Cost is a discounted $40 per person and includes a buffet dinner and the band Rocky Rhodes playing to late (a good dance band who play a lot of the old favourites)
Anyone interested please let me know.
I believe the Boss there will allow a bit of BYO wine or juice

Good footage, nice picture - so who are the 2-3 people flashing past you (a bit crazily in one case)??
Great to see some past riders and visitors come and support the event. Even Phil turned up on his crutches, Caseye, Gillian, Leathal and FLUB from out of town. Dan, Rob, Kerry, Neville, Big al, Don & Meryl, Mark & Rosie, Nigel, Jonpom and Warren and any others Ive missed??- good on you all for supporting the cause.
Only 1 bike dropped on the day :shutup::shutup:

The boss (mummy) actually rang up yesterday to check on spaces available because she was keen to do it as the staff end of year do. She was meant to get a rough idea on numbers yesterday night but don't know if she did. I'll check up and see if we can fit.
