Havent ridden since the monday before christmas. Girlfriend is working so i got no excuses although i am sure i will find one.

Only I have a valid excause for Sunday and that is, I just bought a boat! LOL So my rich's are dwindling :)

However, That has not stopped me before LOL! So if I feel the itch on Sunday, count me in :P As I am now, I want to sleep!! but I cant, I have serious hours of Forza3 ahead of me :)

Actually, I'm the only one with an excuse :) So if I ride will that screw all your excuses up for the rest of your life?

What sorta boat, hopefully not one of those pofter "fishing" ones. If it can't pull up a skiier, it's not worth having. I find it's cheaper to just use someone elses, especially if you use it more than them haha

Then have some laxed out Forza action afterwards. I have to pick up Forza 3 as soon as i sell Assassins Creed 2.

LOL, Its a 10ft Launch with a welded reinforced aluminium hull .. LOL Aka, Dingy :)

Least can be said about the trailer... I got it up past 60km/hr, and no shit, the trailer wanted to do flips!! So lucky I did not get onto the motorway like that. Turned out the axle plate was bent and the wheel was turned in by 2 degrease!!!

So after taking fuel can, removing motor and making a makeshift, that is now a perminent motorstand in my little baby rav4, I deflated the offending tyre and dragged the bitch down the motorway.. with no lights, rego, warrent.. it was scary..... The tyre was chewing out all the way home :)

So now I have a trailer rebuild job coming on... at first it was just the drawbar LOL :) On the bright side, the motor starts first pull :) boat is great.

Down side, I am $500 shorter in my balance then I thought I would be due to forcasted repairs and miss calculation of balances. Plus side is.. I phoned the guy who sold me lot and had a bit of a bark about the fact that he had not disclosed the fact that the axle plate was bent (Due to someone probably backing into the trailer)

Crikey!!! So backroads home it was. It took 4hrs :)

The turnout reminded me of the old school days. Obviously Jan-Feb is our riding months (well not mine anyway)

Yeah I feel like a ski.......hint hint

I would offer to supply your fix but if I ain't getting on the water, ya can get stuffed :) I was thinking of going for a wakeboard the other weekend and was just gonna hang on with one hand, until Brooke reminded me of my hip. Screw it.

It's tragic, the boat hasn't gone out all summer so I think I may have to look at sorting that problem next month. Open invite if it goes on the water.

When I went through the gravel was spread all over the road - no "dry" wheel tracks to use...so it felt like about 130km to me that day...

I really got into the section south of Waikawau once the road opened out a little - and the Awakino gorge bit as well...:devil2:

He seems to do reasonable prices. In saying that, I'm looking at getting some Techspecs, screen and Comp Werkes tail light so it's gonna be cheaper for me to get them shipped from the states together (and he only stocks the screens). If I was getting just the screen I would probably go with him. Might have a chat with him to see if I can give him some of my money.

Where is everybody?? Reasonable turn out at pub on Wednesday and 16 bikes on our last ride two weeks ago and all seems to have gone into hibernation again. I know we are all waiting for Cameron to come back but do we really miss him that much.

If the weather is OK Sunday Trina and I are tossing up on the Ulysses ride or a bit of an exploritry ride out Tahuna way and up waiti road onto Old Hill Road and Top road? Through to Miranda? and back. Anyone done the waiti/top road roads???

If we do that we will leave 11ish from hotel but a decision will be made weather dependent!!

Of course everyone misses me. The proof is in the pudding...I turn = heaps of bikes, I don't = :(

We're heading off the Mansfield this weekend to watch cages race. Interested to see the new setup down there which is meant to be top notch (well anything is better than what they had).

I might give Hamilton Motorcycles a call next week to see if they have an update for my bike. Then it'll give me a goal for my hand. At the moment I can't even wrap my fingers around the bar. All I'm aiming for is 3 fingers at least to wrap and the strength to hang on :)

But yeah I have to admit, everyone is being very slack after that big turn out. Anyone care to share why? Come on, you can tell me. The Dr will sort it out...

Street view is available for some of Waiti and all of Top. But the pics are hard to decipher - I'll look again on the work puter - might be better on LCD widescreen...both roads look narrow and have no centre line markings...pics taken on a manky gloomy day by the looks...

Good wee ride yesterday 5 bikes, 6 people, 250 kms. Found Waiti Road went up it for about 5 kms and hit the gravel. Josh went on solo for about 4-5 kms and came back to tell us its very scenic but a real goat track, so we flagged it and went elsewhere and ended up doing some of the ride we did with Ulysses through to Kaiuia for a meal stop and coffee etc. Back through Ngtea and then Trina led and got us completely lost through some nice countryside with canals etc etc. Got back on highway 29 somewhere near Patahuna (I think) and then back through Morrinsville. All in all a good ride and a great day to be out riding. Pub stop at the end we decided rides need to go on the calendar so next week we are looking at Okaroire via Karapiro and Hobbiton and back via back road Matamata Te Aroha. I will put on Calendar DONE

While out that way try coming back on the Ohinewai Road from SH27 over this awesome hill to Matahuru valley - it's gravel but freaken wicked ride/drive.
You can stop at the top of the hill and walk up the road to the TV pillion at the top - massive view, you can see the whole of the Hauraki and Coromandel Peninsular disappearing in the distance, the view out the other side takes in nearly all the Waikato Basin.
Once off the gravel the ride is pretty good.

You fullas want me to be the 200+km/hr lead out or the 70-km/hr TEC?

We've moved on from the 200+ lead. We thought it was a bit too slow to be classed as Laxed Out, so we now aim for an average lead speed of 237km/hr. We've found it's the optimal speed for aerodynamic efficiency especially if we keep within 2 1/8 inches from each other. It gives the back guys a bit of a sling shot. Kinda like using the moon to land on a meteorite.

It's perfectly safe too. So feel free to lead. It has to be exactly 237 though.

If you havent been to the Paeroa race meet you need to do it!

Weekend after that I think is the Toyrun from Cambridge to Hamilton. Be part of 600-800 (or more bikes)

I'm up for the Paeroa races already, who's going?
Next thing you'll be telling him that he's pretty too!
We'll be sure to keep you in front on future rides; bit worried what you might get up to if allowed to 'go behind' ;)

By the way, my headlight problem was easy fixed - bit embarrassing really - you know how there's a switch that goes headlight, parklight, off? well...um... yeah, it was um like off:eek5:[/QUOTE]

Bummer mate.
Moral of the story though is that most accidents happen close to home.
I guess you spent 5 hours being vigilant on the ride then relaxed as the ride was coming to an end and whammo.
Reminder to us all - the ride aint over till your parked up and off the bike.
Don't lose heart, you'll be right.

lol hrrmm yeah.. i looked down to see what time we were getting back into hams after a 5 hour ride then HELLO!!! Airborne... then landed nicely back on the road and carried on like nothing had happened.. was a bit random to be honest!!! I was pretty gutted coz I thought I was riding really well then just let my concerntration slip for just a moment!
was a slow ride home thats for sure!!! Lucky sli3ntwar was able to act as protection so I wasnt rammed from behind! (on ya mate!)
but yeah, i think that bike is cursed... or maybe I should just stop riding altogether!!! lol.... Nah!

Not bad, can ride again but want my own bike. Little finger is giving me problems. The more I bend it the more it overlaps with the next one. Don't have enough strength in it to keep it apart.

NOthing stopping you making your own way to Paeroa. Other 'clubs', and i really mean patched groups, have rules about what you're allowed to wear/ride if you want to ride with them.
I'm a member of Ulysses here in Hutt, and if I didnt agree with the 'rules' I wouldnt bother. And neither should you.

my bee buzzing, as per Jims post, yes not for me, if someone is going to check my bike they better have a qualification to do it and or a better riding capability and knowledge than me, otherwise the word ridiculous springs to mind quickly.
I actually started the Mentor programme on KB, and I left as it became more about the "mentor" tag and Ego than riding ability, I dont have anything to do with it.
Do I mentor, no, I will offer help if someone asks for it tho

its only a indemnity form with emergency contacts in case of an emergency & they don't go around doing pre-ride checks on your bike

Last time I did a ride with Ulysses in Hamilton I have to be honest and say I nearly feel asleep on my bike - they are verrrrrry safe riders

Nothing wrong with being safe in a group ride environment ( their groups are generally 15 + riders )

I know most of the riding commitee & they do tend to cater well for all levels of rider ability, after having down a few runs you start to see which run leaders offer rides that are of interest to you & best suit your own riding level

To be far, there are some old fellas in there that really know how to ride & could easily run circles around some KB members I have ridden with, but at the end of the day YOU have the ability to either turn up for the ride & enjoy it for what it is OR stay at home with your hand down your pants OR do your own thing.... its that simple fellas !!!

I've only been on two rides with the Uselessesss and it was incredibly lame - and you're right; each to their own, I don't have to join them, but that doesn't mean we can't take the piss out of them, a bit of light hearted fun!!

I had a good laugh last time I went out with them - we were shown who the mentors were in case we wanted to follow them and pick up some tips - one mentor was such a shocker she couldn't even maintain 55ks around a 55k corner

And I'm sure Jim's a good rider - but I did have a smile on my face when we over-took him on his ST on the open road, in the ute with the boat on the back

I don't think you actually read my post. Attached for your information is our sign in sheet. All we are interesed in is the singed disclaimer. I have no interest what so ever in checking bikes or licences unless I happened to see a bald tyre or something else that was in my face.
Let me posse the question .Would you ride with someone you Knew had a bald rear tyre or would you tell them to very nicely to "go away " I don't think so.
The purpose of our sign in sheet is to prevent any claim against Ulysses as a club. If an uninsured bike is damaged we don't want to wearing the bill.
This is purely self presevation for our club which is a New Zealand wide incorporated body.
Also by puting the previous post up I wanted to prevent any problems from all those people who are obviously snmarter and much cleverer than I am and to whom would regard a reasonable request to sign our warranty form as in some way being a slight on their ability.
You don't like it well then the invitation isn't for you. Hopefully we won't see you at 9.00 am on Sunday .

I'm very disappointed in you Jim, I never thought you'd be the type to irresponsibly encourage that kind of competition on the road

I don't consider myself a fast rider (just a quicker rider than yourself and few others who like to lax out a bit) nor is the dinosuarous bandit I ride up to ripping around like a lunatic ?? A number of the riders who meet at the pub with you on Wednesday would confirm their ability to leave me behind. And I don't think you should equate a fast riding as a good rider either.

But yeah - let me know when there's a quicker ride, I would be interested in meeting other riders, especially riders who like to ride a bit quicker

One thing i have learnt in life Jim - there is always someone faster than you, it's not a race Jim

We are going to run a poker run around about ANZAC weekend. The run will be in support of St John's. Cost about $15.00 $10 of a st John's badge and $5.00 for the pot plus a few spot prizes.
Poker cars are collected at various locations. Riders make their own way. Everyone rides "their own ride" Thought it may interest you.

Tahuna - Gordonton Road? Not sure which road you mean. Didn't think there was a Tahuna -Gordonton Road. Also there are at least 2 other Silver ST's in and around the Tron. Do you remember what the other bike was or what colour Helment and jacket the ST rider was wearing?

We are going to run a poker run around about ANZAC weekend. The run will be in support of St John's. Cost about $15.00 $10 of a st John's badge and $5.00 for the pot plus a feww spot prizes.

I haven't done a poker run before - sounds interesting

Thats a bit cheap isn't it?

I must apologise for not coming to the pub last night. We were a little busy...having a baby :Punk: I said to Brooke I would just pop out to have a drink but she wouldn't have a bar of it. A bit selfish really. It was all about her.

Both mum and bubs are doing good, although Dad got home at 1am so is running a little lean. Should be interesting since I have to pay the staff today and also train someone up to do it.

I suppose 6 hours will be plenty of sleep for the next several months.

All I need is the bike to turn up now.

Hey, congrats bro!

Now, the thing is, you need to get your priorities right ... like us older codgers, cancel the bike and forget about freedom and self-indulgence for the next 20 years, like sad bastards like me did. Then you're kids will be grown up and you can get back to having fun and spending money on yourself again!

well done ckai & brooke i know what it is like, but now you will have sleepless nights shity nappies, warming the milk unless its coming naturally and forget getting out on the bike ckai your life as you knew it is now officially over. children wear you down from your health to your wallet but you will enjoy most part of it and there will be times when you wonder why why why you chose to go down this path.

just a little baby humour there seriously though hope the baby and brooke are well, what was your hoice of name.

My two little ones (4 & 6) are the best thing that has happened in my life, yes it does restrict your life style a lot, but well worth it
Just remember in the middle of all the chaos that often ensues - take some time to enjoy them - they don't stay babies for long

Thanks everyone. Both Brooke and bubs are doing well. He seems to enjoy his roomy beds which I hope doesn't mean I have to buy the little bugger a double bed just for him to sleep. He seems to be quite a chilled out dude but it's only been a day :) so we're waiting for the shock to kick in for him!

Name is Lachlan too but I would say he's very rarely gonna be called that (asshole, little shit and a few other ones I'm picking :D).

Life will change for us but it won't be to an extreme. Both Brooke and I are gonna use our bikes as a break time while the other looks after him. And it's also why the grandparents live next door :) See, we're not stupid.

Smoky, good advice about enjoying them while they're babies. The folks were telling me they reckon as parents you rush around too much.

Of course we'll see how it all turns out. And he certainly won't be a stay home kid. We've already got a road-trip booked next month to Invergiggles for 2 weeks... in a '69 Mustang, so he can appreciate v8 rumble early. THAT should be interesting.

Poor Kid! Being subjected to an old push-rod gas guzzling V8 at such a young age! I implore you to swap said Mustang for a quality Nissan and show the youngster true engineering :P

But seriously congrats mate, hope you enjoy the cute years while they last.

All right who is actually riding to Paeroa? And where are you leaving from? I'm looking at riding solo atm (biking gods forbid!).

Good god! Nissan as engineering??? You obviously don't get out much haha. The only "engineering" they've done that's impressive is the GTR and that's engineered by the nerds at microsoft

Can't go past the handling of a rear engined german ;) defies all the laws of physics.

But back on track. For obvious reasons I'm not going to Paeroa. I know a few mates that are but that's no help to ya.

Not to mention the Pistons pointing the wrong way!!!

Well I've sold out the bike for an invatation of a deck chair and a ride there with the Uncle in his 4 wheeler, but its not like the ride to Paoroa is very interesting anyway :D

You obviously have a different interpretation of engineering - apart from the brilliant computerisation of fuel control and timing, the advantage rice burners have over boat anchors is the fact that they are engineered better - much better

Totally agree that american muscle is crap but you can't deny the engine sound and classic looks.

I'm all for handling over straight line speed hence why I paid extra for a Subby wagon instead of a SS Commy or anything similar. And why I'm always loved Porsche because they can make a car do what it technically shouldn't. That's engineering.

Nissan on the other hand...well...to me they've only had one impressively engineered car and that's the GTR (which is disturbingly insane) and the Skylines. But I'm a Subby/Mitsi fan. Besides Nissan gave us the Micra!!! :gob: Almost as bad as the Fiat Multipa

haha

Autech, the pistons being the wrong way is the same as only have 3 cylinders in a bike :D

It's a funny world; I often wonder what it is I like about some cars - I've owned 3 different chev's, a couple of holdens and coons, a few other classic cars like P4 & 5 rovers, super snipes, BMW, Alpha Romeo as well as an NSX Honda and a 2.5 GTS T4 Skyline (and a GTE 2.5)

Each car has something about it I enjoy, the old Rover P4 has nothing that resembles performance - lumbering around on cross-plys and setting up a ton of british steel to take a corner - it goes slow, it weighs too much, but smells like a real car, sitting in armchair comfort, the interior finished with leather, wood and rich red carpet, the body is gloriously contoured with flowing lines and stylised appendages, framed with real chrome - it goes beyond mere driving and takes you to a higher plane ........ Motoring

Yet the skyline offered a different experience; balance and grip, it gave you the confidence as you chucked it into the corner, never mind how its finished, who cares how it looks, as you find the gear shift perfectly placed, the clutch perfectly adjusted for a quick shift, the electronics respond in nano second adjusting for a more aggressive timing to deliver maximum power, the motor sings with a perfect race note as you floor it thru the apex and control the drift out. The awesome stereo pumps my favorite tune and the AC maintains a level of comfort forgotten by most performance cars.

But yep - I would opt for well presented well tuned Chev (even a Mustang but don't tell anyone) regardless of the fact they don't do corners, drink a well dry if you want to use any power, and generally have a poor level of comfort, they just do it for me
Right next door to Boyds motorcycles this morning was the mintest bestest every Imparla station wagon i have ever seen

Ah, now Carver, we are on track. We're talking about the passion of driving/riding and enjoying the trip, not so much the destination. The old man, has a '54 Jenson 541, only one in the world. Absolutely ugly as sin, but he loves it. Which is exactly what you're saying Smoky. Each drive/ride stirs you a different way. Hence my love for the Trumpet.

I often see competent riders messing around on small under powered pieces of crap, or wallowing around on boat anchor bikes, and wonder what the find enjoyable about it, but like Carver has told me on a few occasions - it's about the ride, you can find something good or worth while about any bike .... even an ol bandit (maybe not Honda's though)
