Sure, anyone else from Auckland thinking of going down, can join me for a ride down to Hamilton?

You could always come down with the Auckland Ulysses group?? This is their info on the TOYRUN

INFO FROM AUCKLAND ULYSSES

Sun- 2nd Mar CAMBRIDGE TO HAMILTON CHILD CANCER TOY RUN. MEDIUM
This is a great chance to show our support and bring a little extra
joy to the lives of families who may need an extra boost. Some
of the children join the ride either as pillion or follow along in
the bus, surrounded by bikes off all types.
Their smiles remind us just why we make this annual run a part
of our calendar. Take a toy to be donated for the Child Cancer
Foundation. Buy a badge and be in the draw for great prices!

Departs Bombay AutoBahn, 8-30am.

GoPro Black Edition... Recorded in ProTune mode, 1080p SuperWide @ 48fps (although I dropped it to 30fps in GoPro Studio, since YouTube only posts @ 30fps). I went on a bit of a spending spree after the toy run last Sunday.

I was gonna buy the white edition, but they didn't have any stock... so yeah, call it fate if you will. Really pleased with it so far. My footage from yesterday was about 90 minutes, but I ended up cutting it down to 6 minutes as it was just me... and 90 minutes of slow/medium speed cornering didn't sound that appealing as a first video upload.

Well, time to go fix the wiring on my taillight. The original wiring that came with my new one is rubbish... so I bought one of those "lego blocks" so I can make it nice and sturdy (one of the plugs came out yesterday on my ride)

I have a VHolder, which is the early Contours. Looks the same, operates the same, but is SD not HD. It will film for a couple of hours easy. I'm not using it, if you want to borrow it thats no problem. You would have to adapt a mount. I have a homemade mount that fitted the handle bars on my cruiser. Easy to adapt.

Exactly, it is not right.

Apparently they get so many that they just dump a lot of them, whereas I'm sure there are other options.

The Waikato times have been shown the evidence so will be interesting if there is a story about it.

Bikers should be/have been notified not to bring them if they were just going to be dumped.

The first point I need to make is that the Waikato Branch of Ulysses hands all of the toys over to Child Cancer.
A child cancer volunteer was responsible for dumping the unusable toys. unusable toys are anything that is dirty or appears used or has "Moth balls"
In future my understanding is that Child cancer will be asked to return what they access to be "unusable "toys to Ulysses and Ulysses will dispose of the same hopefully, to Salvation Army thrift shops or Saint Vincent de Paul's or other such.
You can be certain that we will not want this to happen again.

The Ulysses club did a great job, as they do every year organising and running the event.

Its just the stupidity and arrogance of the Child Cancer people to 1. dump surplus toys and 2. dump them clearly labelled.

You've got to admit though, there's only so many children who want to receive a(nother) stuffed toy. Of course they look a lot better on the run than a little box of lego taped to the handlebars, but you could always get an op-shop toy for ride outift and a cool little present for the actual gift. We got two non-gender specific toys for the unofficial toy run down here.

Yeeees, they should be thankful for whatever, but it's also nice to give a thoughtful gift.

Having said that - it's not like I checked the dump to see if our donations turned up there.

So yeah, thoughts so far are meeting at the Kingsgate Hotel (Garnett Avenue), Hamilton around 10:45am to leave at 11:00am. Will take us about an hour to get there. Should be good (weather forecast looks clear at this stage).

Will also add this to the standard calendar so we can estimate how many people will turn up.

Possible afternoon shower - bit like cyclone lusi - yeah right

Link to the calendar event.

Sent you a pm ZE: Since I live over Hillcrest I'd suggest meeting you lot at the Hillcrest Caltex. I'll be there ready to go at say 11:10am. Then I can guide you through Scottsmans out to Okoroirie.

I'd suggest coming through via Cobham drive would be easiest from Te Rapa.
Since I've already put the meeting place at Kingsgate Hotel (Garnett Avenue) for 10:45am to leave at 11:00am, the people on Te Rapa side can start from there, and we'll head across to the Hillcrest Caltex asap (11:10-11:15) to meet up with you and whoever else is on Hillcrest side of town. That's probably the easiest way to do it. I'll have my GoPro with me, so I should be able to get some decent footage :)

See everyone who's coming to the Blues Festival tomorrow.

A> 10:45am Kingsgate Hotel
B> 11:10am Hillcrest Caltex
C> 12:00ish Okoroire Hotel via Scotsman's Valley

I love it when people have "my cocks bigger than yours" conversation on here

personally I go far too fast sometimes, but the time it takes to get from A-B is a pointless exercise, some one else is always a better story teller, or you never know what traffic you encounter.
The best rides are not always the fastest
and personally the quickest way is not always the best ride or drive

lifes too short - take the scenic route

Cock size has nought to do with it. I was essentially agreeing with Al, with a smooth run, no traffic and a good run up the hill it doesn't take that long. I'm not the sort to engage in measurement contests, they don't prove anything and things end up escalating to unwanted levels.....

I have no idea what way we went back, but the roads were very pretty, and a lot nicer than the trip there. And yeah, Nigel lead us the way back. Once we got to Hamilton, he skipped off home to pick up his dog, and we hung out at the Te Rapa Tavern for a while.

I've always found it funny how ding-a-ling size is always compared amongst guys. It seems more logical to compare it amongst the ladies :devil2: That's how I swing anyway. Personally, I like to think it's not the size that matters, it's how "adaptable" it is to the situation...

...but fuck me that's quick! From TA to Tauranga, the best I've done is 1:05 hrs but that's keeping under the ticket mark. Never had a clean ran in all my years. In saying that, I do know someone that has done TA to New Plymouth in 2 hours. That was moving just a little bit. I shall not reveal the time from Christchurch to Picton...

How's that for cock size?

I have checked using both Google maps and map source, and the shortest route via any road from city centre to city centre is 105 km. To do it in around 50 mins at "Just above 100kph " you would need to find a route that was less than 83 km. A straight line (helicopter anyone?) is 81 km, so I would love to find the road that is nearly a straight line.

Yeah that Valley road is good shit. I personally like SH6 around the lakes down the bottom end. Some tightish shit, but nice and flowing in general and when you get a split second to glance at the scenery out the corner of your eye, it's pretty special. I suppose that's why all the high-end car manufacturers use that section for ads. And it's well maintained.

Also, there's a section of road from Invergiggles and Alexandra that's cool. Only done that in a Mustang though, but the ridges are particularly fun.

Sat through a 6.5 hour session, Got to the point that the skin started rejecting the ink. So we had to stop. I was booked for 8 hours. I was fucked by the time I got home. Half my lower forarm done. I have 12-14 more hours before it is finished. At the moment I feel like a pin cussion. Yes it was bit painfull but the end result will be well worth the pain and time. Reason I don't want to ride at least at the moment cause my arm is swolen and I don't feel like trying to stuff it into a tight leather jacket. Give it few days and it should settle down. 3 weeks from now another sesh, and then 2 weeks later last session and touch ups. it will be epic when its done. And if yer all nice, I might post a pic up on here.

How do you find GP shifting? I'm thinking we might do it with a mates track bike. Thought about it with the Daytona, but don't need to change gears that often :)

I absolutely love it. shifting up (press down) while tucked or leant over seems a lot more effortless, and while you're leant over, you don't have to worry about getting your foot caught (I have size 12 feet).

Shifting down (press up), makes more sense, especially when coming up to a corner, as you are lifting your body up, so rotating your ankle at the same time seems a lot more natural than 1 down-5 up.

It all comes down to user preference though. I first started using race-shift pattern on my RG-150, followed by my FZR400. Those mods were easy (just had to switch the pivot 180 degrees for the shifter). For the Firestorm, I bought the VFR800 gear shift as I didn't feel like pulling out an angle grinder etc :pinch: You get people that swear by either side of the shifting pattern. I'd say: If you can try both, do it... and whichever you feel more comfortable with, go with that.

All the beers from Shepherd Neame are excellent. I used to sell them in my wine shop when I could get them. The Spitfire was first brewed in 1990 as a memorial - 50 years on from the B of B.

All that traditional English Ale is super tasty - even if you don't like 'em all. And there seems to be a gazillion of them.
