It was certainly an interesting place to try and turn the bike around up there on Mt Cecil Rd. Quite a lot steeper than the pics suggest, single lane, loose gravel, pot holes etc. Ohh the joys of tagging on a sports bike with a 2km turning radius. Took about a 7 point turn. :laugh:

Yes, it was a really nice tag. To find it, search for "wood carving" on google map, and you'll find it in the Lower Hutt area.

Ha Ha, figured out the Epiha St - Big Save Paraparaumu about 9.30 last night, but pretty much sucked the fuel tank Dry again following the trip back from Palmy and the chase of the st Theresa's Tag, not to mention trying to find a Night time friendly Tag after picking it up so I left it - Im impressed that the Wellington Lads still have the Enthusiasm to do a late night run, but it blows me away that Sketchy is still just as eager to go Hunt it down and bring it back.....

Ok, I get home from playing in the rapa only to find the position of the new tag. I've passed this about 6 times today. It's Sunday night, dark, cold and I've been riding most of the day.

The thought of putting on all of the gear, riding over the hill in the dark and the cold again mid week only to find someone else has already got the tag just doesn't appeal somehow. OK got it now. Now I also know why I couldn't find it. The marker on Google Maps for this hall was in the wrong place. It was right on the intersection of the two roads, about 200 metres from the actual place. Problem with that was that if you looked in streetview, there is actually a building on that corner which looks like a hall but not the one where are looking for, so I discounted this location. So I have now updated the location in Google Maps in case someone else in the future might be looking for this location.

November eh? Sound like a plan, see if the Trumpy really is good for 260. It get up near that speed (indicated) mighty quickly so it may do it.

But being from the UK, I know how black ice can cause chaos on the roads. And that hill is not good in the dark especially when the temp drops. It's certainly the last place I would want to go down when I'm by myself.
There is also the time factor. On the week-end, people have more time available to go wider afield. Mid week, family/work commitments limit riding time, so the need to keep the tag reachable in a reasonable short time frame becomes more important.
Once daylight saving kicks in and the weather warms up a bit (at night), then distance becomes less important.

Just my 2c worth.

Nope didn't go fishing. The weather over the hill is indeed nicer than it is here in Welly. Although sunny on both sides of the hill, there is hardly a breath of wind in the Wairarapa whereas it is kind of breezy here in the Nui.
Anyway, the tag was Dalefield Hall on Thomas Road just out of Carterton.

a bit of useless information which I gathered while waiting.
Maybe some statistics which Paul can put on the scoreboard if he so desires.
Decided to look at the distances travelled between tags based upon average distances over the last 151 tags.
As the crow flies, the distance travelled over all 151 tags is 2010km which equals 13.31km between tags.
Shortest distance by road is 2927km, an average of 19.38km between tags.
Both these distances do not include the distance travelled from one's home to get a tag or getting home after placing a tag.
There ya go, a bit of useless trivia.

i have thought of distances but my thoughts were from the persons home to the tag and back...say for me to martinborough is wellington to martinborough = 80.9kms,for you it is 75 kms,for hawkeye,lower hutt to martinborough is 66.5 kms.The tag place could be exact of course,and each persons location can be called by them,ie i might elect to say wellington or miramar...someone else could be lower hutt or say maungaraki.once i have a persons location that would be a hidden column in the stats sheet
