One thing I would say is they are both very tight lipped.

They used to employ former football players back in the days of JFK. The scandals of recent years indicate a lack of discipline which raises questions about their military experience. A woman unable to holster her pistol is not indicative of a high level of training either. Leno says they are not political but that's optimistic. On Jan 6th Pence refused to get in the vehicle because he did not trust all the SS personnel present. Biden had former Trump people transferred out of his detail when he took over the White House.

Trump lost in 2020, 60 court cases and many deep investigations found nothing of any consequence. A deep red organization actually found more votes for biden not less in Arizona. Even trumps election integrity chief said it was a fair election. Trumps falsehoods around it led to jan 6th and to this day denies he lost and has everyone around him make public declarations to this effect.

There is some offensive drivel listed in your post but OK that is what the Republicans are running with. You are confused as to the qualifications though. The president must be a natural born US citizen. There is no mention of parents in the qualifications.

Harris is over 35 and was born in the US - she qualifies.

As she says, when prosecutor she dealt with sexual abusers, frauds and conmen, she knows Trump's type.

Here are the rules although it appears some have been relaxed or there are breaches. There is a woman in Congress from the former Soviet Union, Victoria Spartz, a Republican. (There have been several people born in the Soviet Union who have served in Congress.) In apparent breach there are two senators who do not live in the state they represent: Hawley and Tuberville, both Republicans.

The Democrats do have a talent for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They now have to make a serious decision about a VP running mate for Harris. Typically the candidates would bring a strength the president doesn't have. The former governor of a swing state such as Pennsylvania would also appeal. Equally they could pick someone who could damage the ticket.

Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Transportation, former Mayor of South Bend, appears to be a strong candidate. He speaks well, has military experience, he goes on TV armed with facts and has embarrassed FOX hosts more than once. South Bend is hardly New York or Chicago though. The big fly in the ointment is that he has a husband. The US has never yet elected a woman, I just don't think the voters are ready for Pete.

Some years back the Shooting Federation hired the services of the former Hungarian Olympic coach. He had a full set of Olympic medals himself and a medical degree. There was a problem, Immigration could not understand why he worked as a coach if he had a medical degree. In Eastern Europe under communism an Olympic coach was a far more prestigious position, with appropriate rewards, than was just one more GP.

That Hungary under communism did not function the same as New Zealand completely eluded them. Other stories I've heard show a similar lack of knowledge. Familiarity with their rule book is not enough.

Well the polls in the US have changed majorly. Still, a week in politics is a long time.

Some of the more redneck states have replaced their election organising staff with MAGA drones. These people are tasked with delaying certification of election results, or preferably with refusing to certify the results altogether. This has happened during recent local elections and initially the guilty were sued. That is a slow and cumbersome process though, more recent instances have been met with criminal charges. Here's hoping the guilty are hit quickly enough and hard enough to discourage these plans for the upcoming election but...

This is the Stormy Daniels/election interference case, the events of which took place before Trump was elected president but that's just a detail. Merchan has set the date 16 Sept for a hearing but has told them to keep the 18th free. The 18th has been reserved for sentencing.

I watch a podcast featuring Anthony Scarammuci, who worked on the 2016 Republican campaign and was briefly President Trump's Director of Communications in 2017.

Ironically he suggested that if the polls get too bad for President Trump, he could do a Biden and drop out in favour of a less polarising Republican candidate, on the condition that said candidate delivers him the necessary pardons if they win. And they would be a "PINO", with Trump pulling the strings in the background once elected. Kind of like a "deep state" situation.

I guess if his legal troubles ever do get too prison-y, President Trump would be a welcome guest in any number of autocratic vacation spots.

This is apparently at variance with the facts. At his retirement Walz' appointment was Command Sergeant Major similar to RSM here. On retirement Guard NCOs revert to the last rank they held for three years. In his case Master Sergeant. There is no disciplinary factor that's just how they do it. Before any of us can find common ground, you need to be willing to separate emotion and distain for Trump from your rational mind.

I'd also point out that Bolton, a National security Advisor in the previous Trump administration, whose job depended on his being able to give Trump advice he might take, now says that Trump is incapable of discerning between the truth and lies.

When you're offering advice which coukld well make the difference between war or peace, the first thing you'd do is watch your boss for indications as to which way he'll jump. I'm picking Bolton knows the character and habits of Trump better than most.

If Bolton now says Trump spews out a stream of lies, I'd tend to believe him.

I read Bolton's book "The Room Where It Happened" about his time in the White House with Trump. He'd been there before: he had been Ambassador to the UN under Bush 43, Assistant US Attorney under Reagan, and had held other notable appointments. Bolton may be an arsehole but at least he understands how government should function. At his time in the White House late in Trump's tenure that was so rare as to almost be unique. The other people in Trump's White House were ignorant and were engaged in internecine warfare against each other. A dangerous clown show.

Late in Trump's presidency the first job of anybody sane appointed to the White House was to write their resignation latter so that when the time came all it needed was a date. Bolton's departure came after a trip to Europe as National Security Advisor. Somebody told Trump Bolton had used an air force jet. Trump attacked him about that. Bolton explained that was how these things were done. Trump told him to use scheduled airline services in future. Bolton dated his letter and handed it to Trump next morning. Trump promptly announced he had fired Bolton.

I have responded to your statements with my own recipe of facts, logic and reason - awaiting a response.

I have also called out the “lies” accusation by picking apart the second foundational “lie” that Trump supposedly purported. Regarding tax cuts as per my prior post. When the very pillars of its truth show cracks (the trump lie agenda) then I lose confidence in the remaining structure.

Unless you’re able to provide some evidence and reason around said lies then we can address it specifically.

I have also shown to be critical of trump - acknowledging his errors and shortcomings - which shows a fair, reasonable and mature approach, no?

But yet I haven’t seen you shown criticism to anyone other than trump.

One will either reject that, as a totally unsuitable way to conduct the administration of a democratic country, or say "It all looks just fine to me, let's go again, but harder (project 2025)".

That is the Crux, a change of attitude is practically impossible.

Discussions here are of negligible significance. The question will be addressed by the US electorate in November.

What bases your claim that he is a “criminal” conman?

Trump has had multiple civil cases such as lawsuits and settlements.

But that does not equate to criminal convictions.
And most of said civil lawsuits were settled outside the court.

It’s worth noting that in America, the art of suing is much more prevalent and open than in New Zealand.

Business in America is much less forgiving than NZ.

It comes to no suprise that Trump, as a billionaire, with multiple businesses, directorships and entities trading both domestically and internationally are met with such.

Have you done any analysis on similar net worth business moguls in America and the amount of civil lawsuits they undergo for real comparison? I’m guessing that’s a no, but happy to be proven otherwise.

We have had a fair bit to do with them and also the leavers. Since 95.
Not in my experience has any of them other than their former leader Nevile/hopeful ever tried to push their beliefs onto me or others.
They have no concept of time plus a few other weird stuff though. The kids and women are very weary of any outsider but I assume they have been taught that all outsiders are devil worshipers....

Furthering on from my Trump tax cut analysis.

The effective distribution of tax cuts to the respective classes is weighted on the timing and strength of the economy in my opinion.

During a strong economy (2.4% GDP growth, low unemployment & high consumer confidence at the time of the cuts). There will be greater borrowing and lending, such as middle class mortgages etc.

So regardless of the trickle down economic benefits (increased capital investment…more jobs etc etc).

The tax cuts which mostly materialised in US bank accounts ultimately allowed more money for the banks to lend to to the middle and lower class.

Obama’s 2009 cut was more middle/lower class centric because of the 2008 collapse.
Which I believe was the right thing at that time.

Data shows an increase in home loans since 2018.
And, as a result, higher rates of lending from banks.
Some banks showed lower interest rates because of higher bank profits.

Because irrespective if the wealthy invested it or saved every cent - it ended up in US bank accounts.

This was one of the only effective & viable ways for the middle class to own homes around this period.

Well business as usual happened in this thread over the last few weeks. It has been a lot rowdier in the past, and at times does quieten down as we all get a bit tired of reporting on trumps never ending self propelled lies and dramas. It does always liven up when two or one magas arrive and spout a whole lot of trump lies with zero links or proof to back up their "stats" such as Deans impressive looking trumps tax cuts worked posts - ZERO LINKS provided.
You will have to forgive our scepticism, as higher IQ magas in the past have dropped by kb, and at first their stats looked very believable, until when pressed for their sources, could only provide a pdf of someones personal opinions that had only been downloaded a handful of times.:laugh: Obviously much merriment ensued in the thread.
What I would like you and Dean to do is back up your trump utterances with links to your sources.
Until you do that, I fear you will just be written off as low rent trolls. And golly, dang, and gosh - we would not want disinformation like that on this thread would we?
