its difficult to like everything any president does. i like that he shut the border and trying to deport the 10million illegals biden let it. i like he sent national gaurd to to crime plagued cities. hopefully he does plenty of investigation (and deports after their prison sentence)) on the somalis that defrauded legal citizens of billions of dollars. i like hes blowing up drug boats. i think we should go kick russia and chinas ass but i dont see trump doing that. so do i like everything , no. but theres alot i do like

Really? Using the army to suppress citizens of your own country? That should be ringing alarm bells of anyone with a casual interest in history.
The police should be responsible and properly resourced for actual criminal behavior.

America has form here of course. The so called Banana Republics were historically raided by America whenever the people tried to get a less corrupt government and get a fair price for thier Bananas. US didn't want to pay that, so they went in, shot the place up and reinstated a figurehead that would lower the prices again.
Nasty neighbour.
Reminds me of a cartoon from way back, it may have been by Gahon Wilson. The president off a South American republic is at his desk when armed CIA operatives burst into his office. He jumps up shouting "No no, I'm CIA too."

You seem confused, You approve of murder and blatantly illegal acts and you disapprove of things that never actually happened?
The Republicans like to talk about crime plagued cities but the highest violent crime rates are in red states. The child care fraud which involved some Somalis was shut down and prosecuted under Biden. I know child care is expensive but Billions? Really?

when criminals try and bring their boat loads of illegal drugs to usa , they know the price to play the game and choose to take that chance anyways. sympathise with the criminal if you want. perhaps your country welcomes illegal drugs and criminal activity to its communities but the honest hard working folks where im at are tired of the criminal never facing a consequence . that is until now

i. . . i think we should go kick russia and chinas ass . ,
Um, you are aware that both have nuclear weapons right? And if losing, have so little value of other people's lives that they are very unpredictable and dangerous.
But let's assume that they don't and unpack that idea.
Russia has shown just how unprepared they are for sustained conflict. You can knock them down but no one defeats them. Just too big and ruthless. In the long game they will get back up like a gnarled boxer with nothing to lose.
In WWII Germany and Japan thought they could win with Technical superior equipment better engineering- mixed with a decisive first punch.
Britain ramped up production of armaments with a 2 for 1 policy and the Battle of Britain failed. Japan bloodied the nose of the US navy, but totally misunderstood what would happen next.
US manufacturing won the war. They were the top manufacturers in the world and no one could hold a candle to them. They just made unbeatable volumes.
That one of the reasons Obama et all, kept trying to prop up a failing auto industry. Yes blue collar jobs, but easy retooling for weapons of war if required, well that's compelling advisor whispered incentive.
But the US is no longer the biggest manufacturers of the world. That's been outsourced more and more for decades.
India, Korea, and of course, and especially China.
Careful of who you want to pick a fight with.

Sorry if i was somehow unclear i am asking very specifically about how trump on his second day in office the pardoned of a very well known very rich criminal involved in large scale drug dealing and human trafficking . That was serving a 40 year sentence.
On February 4, 2014, Ulbricht was charged with engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, narcotics conspiracy, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and conspiracy to commit computer hacking. On August 21, 2014, a superseding indictment added three additional charges. The trial began on January 13, 2015.
prosecutors did present evidence during his sentencing that he had allegedly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bitcoin to have several people he considered threats to his Silk Road operation killed
we can put a missile through a small window from 50,000' but cant determine which boats are loaded with drugs ? f
Yet what you are saying is not at all backed by the actually fact that 25% of the boats using the US is own figures that there were stopping contained no drugs at all so if they know they have drugs with such excellent intell to know they had drugs or not why were they stopping 25% of boats with no drugs at all.
According to a 2024 U.S. Coast Guard report, the agency found drugs on approximately 73% of the boats they intercepted and boarded in South American waters (meaning about 27% they found no drugs at all)
Also why arent they doing it in international waters or better still their own water?

https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/newyork/news/press-releases/ross-ulbricht-the-creator-and-owner-of-the-silk-road-website-found-guilty-in-manhattan-federal-court-on-all-counts
ROSS WILLIAM ULBRICHT, a/k/a “Dread Pirate Roberts,” a/k/a “DPR,” a/k/a “Silk Road,” was found guilty yesterday on all seven counts in connection with his operation and ownership of Silk Road, a hidden website designed to enable its users to buy and sell illegal drugs and other unlawful goods and services anonymously and beyond the reach of law enforcement, following a four-week trial before U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest.
Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said: “As a unanimous jury has found, Ross William Ulbricht operated Silk Road—a clandestine global marketplace that offered buyers and sellers of illegal goods and services a promise of anonymity. Ulbricht built this black market bazaar to exploit the dark web and the digital currency Bitcoin to allow users to conduct illegal business beyond the reach of law enforcement. Ulbricht’s arrest and conviction—and our seizure of millions of dollars of Silk Road Bitcoins—should send a clear message to anyone else attempting to operate an online criminal enterprise. The supposed anonymity of the dark web is not a protective shield from arrest and prosecution.”
According to the Complaint, the Superseding Indictment, and the evidence presented at trial:
ULBRICHT created Silk Road in approximately January 2011, and owned and operated the underground website until it was shut down by law enforcement authorities in October 2013. Silk Road emerged as the most sophisticated and extensive criminal marketplace on the Internet, serving as a sprawling black-market bazaar where unlawful goods and services, including illegal drugs of virtually all varieties, were bought and sold regularly by the site’s users. While in operation, Silk Road was used by thousands of drug dealers and other unlawful vendors to distribute hundreds of kilograms of illegal drugs and other unlawful goods and services to well over a hundred thousand buyers, and to launder hundreds of millions of dollars deriving from these unlawful transactions.
ULBRICHT deliberately operated Silk Road as an online criminal marketplace intended to enable its users to buy and sell drugs and other illegal goods and services anonymously and outside the reach of law enforcement. ULBRICHT sought to anonymize transactions on Silk Road in two principal ways. First, ULBRICHT operated Silk Road on what is known as “The Onion Router,” or “Tor” network, a special network of computers on the Internet, distributed around the world, designed to conceal the true IP addresses of the computers on the network and thereby the identities of the networks’ users. Second, ULBRICHT designed Silk Road to include a Bitcoin-based payment system that served to facilitate the illegal commerce conducted on the site, including by concealing the identities and locations of the users transmitting and receiving funds through the site.
The vast majority of items for sale on Silk Road were illegal drugs, which were openly advertised as such on the site. As of September 23, 2013, Silk Road had nearly 13,000 listings for controlled substances, listed under such categories as “Cannabis,” “Dissociatives,” “Ecstasy,” “Intoxicants,” “Opioids,” “Precursors,” “Prescription,” “Psychedelics,” and “Stimulants.” From November 2011 to September 2013, law enforcement agents made more than 60 individual undercover purchases of controlled substances from Silk Road vendors. These purchases included heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, and LSD, among other illegal drugs, and were filled by vendors believed to be located in more than ten different countries, including the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Austria and France.
In addition to illegal narcotics, other illicit goods and services were openly bought and sold on Silk Road as well. For example, as of September 23, 2013, there were: 159 listings under the category “Services,” most of which offered computer hacking services, such as a listing by a vendor offering to hack into social networking accounts of the customer’s choosing; 801 listings under the category “Digital goods,” including malicious software, hacked accounts at various online services, and pirated media content; and 169 listings under the category “Forgeries,” including offers to produce fake driver’s licenses, passports, Social Security cards, utility bills, credit card statements, car insurance records, and other forms of false identification documents.
Using the online moniker “Dread Pirate Roberts,” or “DPR,” ULBRICHT controlled and oversaw every aspect of Silk Road, and managed a staff of paid, online administrators and computer programmers who assisted with the day-to-day operation of the site. Through his ownership and operation of Silk Road, ULBRICHT reaped commissions worth over $13 million generated from the illicit sales conducted through the site. ULBRICHT also demonstrated a willingness to use violence to protect his criminal enterprise and the anonymity of its users. ULBRICHT even solicited six murders-for-hire in connection with operating the site, although there is no evidence that these murders were actually carried out.
* * *
ULBRICHT, 30, of San Francisco, California, was found guilty of: one count of distributing narcotics, one count of distributing narcotics by means of the Internet, and one count of conspiring to distribute narcotics, each of which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years; one count of engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison; one of count of conspiring to commit computer hacking, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison; one count of conspiring to traffic in false identity documents, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years; and one count of conspiring to commit money laundering, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The maximum sentences are prescribed by Congress and are provided for informational purposes only, as the sentence will be determined by the judge. ULBRICHT is scheduled to be sentenced on May 15, 2015.
Mr. Bharara praised the outstanding investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and its New York Special Operations and Cyber Division, as well as the outstanding investigative work of the DEA’s New York Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Strike Force, which comprises agents and officers of the DEA, the IRS, the New York City Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (“ICE”) Homeland Security Investigations (“HSI”), the New York State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Marshals Service, Office of Foreign Assets Control, and NY Department of Taxation. Mr. Bharara also thanked the ICE-HSI Chicago-O’Hare office for its assistance and support, as well as the Department of Justice’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section and Office of International Affairs. Additionally, Mr. Bharara praised the foreign law enforcement partners whose contributions to the success of the investigation and prosecution have been invaluable, namely, the Reykjavik Metropolitan Police of the Republic of Iceland, and the French Republic’s Central Office for the Fight Against Crime Linked to Information Technology and Communication.
Mr. Bharara also noted that the investigation remains ongoing.
The prosecution of this case is being handled by the Office’s Complex Frauds and Cybercrime Unit. Assistant United States Attorneys Serrin Turner and Timothy Howard are in charge of the prosecution, and Assistant United States Attorney Christine Magdo is in charge of the forfeiture aspects of the case.

OK so it seems the idea is for the US to threaten Venezuela from a distance and hope the government and military (gangs, drug dealers, etc) get in line. Then ramp up the oil industry (with the US getting their cut), ostensibly to replace the income the locals loose from no more cocaine. Broadly.
I think the US is bluffing. If the Venezuelans call them on their bluff, are ready this time for any US action and bloody President Trump's nose, that'll be it, I don't believe he's up for any seriously costly military action.
Or the Venezuelans could just tell him what he wants to hear, pay the tribute (oil) and carry on doing what they've been doing all along in the background (and frankly, so long as the first two happen, I don't think President Trump will care about anything else).

1500 in one hit. Trump openly has pardons for sale. He may have been too keen though. He pardoned some people to ensure their loyalty in upcoming court actions. When advised of the intention to prosecute, their lawyers said they would plead the Fifth and not testify. Problem. If a person has been pardoned they cannot be charged with that crime again. Consequently they do not have the right to plead the Fifth. While they can't be charged with the same crime, they can be charged with obstruction or perjury if they refuse to answer or they lie under oath.

I guess the problem I have is they’ve spent a lot of money and killed quite a few people to remove a foreign head of state without (so far) addressing the undoubtedly corrupt government and military framework that supported him — until that changes, nothing is going to change for the average Venezuelan. Again, until they can show some evidence of that happening, I don’t see the point.
Also on the boats they keep blowing up, don’t forget there is no practical land route from South to North America (Darien gap), the only routes available are by air or by sea. This applies as much to all the Venezuelans trying to flee the country as it does to the drug trade.

I have no doubt that the ICE Gladiator who shot the woman three times in the head in Minneapoliis while she was trying to get away from the dark force called ICE will get a full pardon from Trump.

“On this day in history in 2021, thousands of peaceful grandmothers and others gathered in Washington DC to take a self-guided, albeit unauthorized, tour of the US Capitol building,” Republican congressman Mike Collins wrote on X.
He went on to inaccurately claim that the president’s “supporters walked to the Capitol to exercise their First Amendment right about the irregularities of the 2020 election. During this time, some individuals entered the Capitol, took photos, and explored the building before leaving.”
Yet trump pay's out a family of a person rioting in the 6th insurrection and give them full military honours.....
Last year, the Trump administration agreed to a nearly $5m payout to her family, and to give Babbitt, an air force and air national guard vet, military honors. Ashli Babbitt, a rioter who was fatally shot by a Capitol police officer as she attempted to breach a barricaded door during the insurrection.

its unfortunate that lady was killed. sounds like she may have been a professional agitator of ice. not sure yet if she was funded by any organization.
the job of ice is to enforce immigration law. apprehend and remove illegals. some of which are robbers ,thiefs, fraudsters , rapists , child moleters ,murderers. even with no previous crminal record , theyre here illegally which is a crime in itself.
why dont they go back home and return to usa legally the proper way ? well some of them likely will make the correct decision , leave and return the proper way.
many wont leave because they have zero chance of getting back in legally as theyre criminals from other countries or simply want to take advantage of our generosity and get a free ride in life.
saddest part , likely not a single legal american would object to them arriving in a legal proper way . but no, so many of them decided to sneak under the fence illegally and disrupt our communities

That's is something the mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, MAGA like to spout - but it's wrong. Illegal entry to the US is a civil offence not a criminal offence.

Wow that's damming evidence ........ but only for your own stupidity in posting it:first:
You claim this is evidence to back up your repeated claims that biden let in 10 million on the border?
Yet he says 6 million people were caught at the border then claims 2 million were trafficked into the US and got away....
They comes from US border report where 6 million were caught ie interdicted at the border under Biden's regime and turned back you imbecile.
If trump never its seems caught as many on the border doesn't it mean biden was far better at keeping out illegals than trump was?...
and that was after trump built his wall that would solve all the problems. odd did it not solve all the problems as this was after the wall trump said he built.
What actually is real is as of late 2024, there were over 10.8 million total nationwide '' interdiction's'' recorded since the start of Fiscal Year (FY) 2021.
Of this number, about 8.7 million were at the Southwest land border.
The number of individuals who have entered and remained in the U.S. illegally (known as "known gotaways" or those processed and released) is a separate, much lower figure, though still historically high. DHS estimated there were roughly 2 million "known gotaways" between FY 2021 and late 2024.
Therefore, the claim that 10 million "illegal aliens" have been let in or allowed in the U.S. under the Biden administration is as was and will aways be demonstratively false.
Not only that you posted a video that didnt even say 10 million :tugger:
357701357702
in the next sentence he clearly adds 2 million ''gotaways'' so even though hes trying to misdirect even he knows the difference.
So you are a 5 x loser
BTW this 6 million total includes
Repeat Crossings: The "encounters" data includes individuals who attempt to cross the border multiple times and are caught each time. Government and independent analyses have estimated that repeat offenders can account for a quarter to more than half of all encounters.
Expulsions/deportations: A large percentage of these individuals were processed for expulsion under Title 42 or were deported under Title 8 authority.
They did not necessarily remain in the U.S.
Lawful Pathways: The total encounter number also includes individuals who presented themselves at official ports of entry to seek asylum or used new legal pathways like the CBP One app, which are lawful processes, not "illegal" entries.

You made a claim that I challenged it because I knew it was wrong. But as you are lacking in fortitude, Instead of admitting the mistake, you seem unwilling to recognise any error or that ts important not to spread a load of shit. So now you attempt to downplay its significance, which is hilarious as it was the cornerstone of your pathetic narrative.
This suggests you don’t critically evaluate the information you receive. Also as pointed out you would earlier, when confronted in the fact your argument is invalid you are changing the subject by incorrectly suggesting I ever mentioned or suggested anything about supporting illegal immigration.

latest justification for the lies ''is its not a big deal''
Lets examine why trump supporters cant see their emperor trump has no clothes
Cognitive dissonance is a key psychological factor in why some Donald Trump supporters remain loyal even when presented with contradictory evidence. To resolve the mental discomfort that arises from conflicting beliefs or actions, individuals employ various psychological strategies, often subconsciously, that help maintain their existing worldview and self-perception.
How Cognitive Dissonance is Resolved
When a supporter is confronted with information that suggests Trump's statements are false (the conflicting cognition), they can reduce the resulting psychological tension (dissonance) in several ways other than changing their belief:
Reject the Evidence: As noted in the user's prompt, supporters may dismiss factual evidence as "fake news" or biased, questioning the source rather than their leader's claims.
Rationalisation and Justification: They may create excuses or "invent stories" to soften the contradiction, such as believing that the ends justify the means or that Trump's actions are necessary to fight a greater evil.
Trivialisation: Supporters might downplay the significance of the lie or misdeed, deciding it is not a major issue in the grand scheme of politics.
Selective Exposure: People tend to seek out information that confirms their existing beliefs (confirmation bias) and actively avoid information that challenges them, creating "echo chambers" in media consumption that reinforce their initial viewpoint without challenge.
Social Support: When a belief is challenged, individuals may seek validation from like-minded friends, family, or communities (such as partisan news channels or social media groups), which further strengthens their commitment to the original belief.

Actually it does matter.
The US economy couldn't operate without an amount of illegal immigrants. They do jobs typical Americans avoid. And often for lots less than minimum wage.
Historically cheap labour was provided by immigrants that did not choose to immigrate but were forced. A lot of the US wealth was made off the back of virtually free labour.
The question is how many before conditions get strained in inner city living if they can't get jobs.

Absolutely. Entire industries run on illegal immigrant labour: housing construction, farming, the various abattoirs and meat packing plants, etc etc. Take the illegal immigrants away and the industry fails.
Meanwhile Trump has said he'd be honoured to accept Maria Machado's 2025 Nobel Peace Prize if she was to offer it to him. Although that is truly absurd to anybody except Trump the Nobel people have been moved to publish the attached statement.

If they are as vital as you say they are to the US Economy, then when they leave and apply to return via the correct channels, they should have no problem getting in.
Source: The reason I am here is because my Mum was a Nurse (now retired) her being a Nurse meant we passed the NZ Immigration criteria.
However - you raise an interesting question: Assume for the moment everything you said is true - that the entire economy is supported by an underclass of sub-minimum wage workers.
What happens if we remove those workers? Either the jobs were vital and they will be filled (either by lowering the entry requirements of increasing the wages) or they weren't that vital.
All of which is beside the point: If they are not in the country legally, they should be removed. The fact we have gotten to the point where this most basic of points is being argued is bizarre to me.

Meanwhile in New York... It doesn't seem to be getting the coverage that it deserves but perhaps the national media regard it as local to New York.
After many delays and multiple failed appeals, and some 27 unsuccessful attempts to secure loans to cover the bond, Trump has not managed to raise the now near half a billion US$ in fines and interest accruing from his New York fraud case.
The New York Attorney General has now commenced moves to seize property to recover the half billion. She has frozen all Trump's personal and business bank accounts. That is administratively easy so is naturally the first step. Next step, rather more complicated, is to auction off one or more of his New York golf properties until the half billion is paid.
That must sting.

So lets see, on one side of your premise you have documented evidence of corruption and interference then on other you claim equal weight to rumours insinuations and unsubstantiated claims. Yeah clever. Almost as insightful as your claims that Russia had no intention and would never invade Ukraine.
Trump: Allegations involve documented efforts to use executive power to overturn election results and current attempts to dismantle the independence of the Federal Reserve and state election authorities.
Biden: Allegations involve using administrative pressure for content moderation and long-standing business ties that critics call "influence peddling," though direct proof of policy corruption has been noted as absent in official committee reports.
Trump 2020 Election Interference: Special Counsel Jack Smith developed "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" that Trump criminally conspired to overturn his 2020 election defeat. A revised indictment in late 2024 detailed efforts to persuade Vice President Mike Pence to obstruct the election certification.
Federal Reserve Pressure: In January 2026, Trump's administration launched a criminal inquiry through the Department of Justice (DOJ) into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, following public demands for Powell's resignation. Critics and some Republican senators have characterized this as a direct attempt to end the Fed's independence.
Voter Data Demands: As of late 2025, the DOJ under Trump has sued over 20 states to obtain detailed voter registration data, including Social Security numbers, which critics allege is an "unprecedented" attempt to control state election processes ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Joe Biden: Allegations and Findings
Allegations against Biden primarily focus on the "weaponisation" of federal agencies for censorship and family business dealings.
Censorship Allegations: A 2024 House "weaponisation" committee report alleged that the Biden administration coerced social media companies to restrict or remove content, particularly regarding COVID-19 and Hunter Biden.
Family Business Investigations: Extensive House investigations into the Biden family's business dealings found they created over 20 shell companies and received millions from foreign entities.
Lack of Direct Policy Link: While House Republicans found evidence of "influence peddling," a 2023 interim report by the House Oversight Committee stated it could not name a specific official policy decision influenced by foreign payments.
DOJ and FBI Use: Critics have alleged the Biden administration used the FBI to target political enemies, such as concerned parents at school board meetings. However, fact-checks and some investigations found no evidence that Biden personally directed specific criminal cases against Donald Trump
President-elect Donald Trump would have been convicted of illegally trying to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election - which he lost - if he had not successfully been re-elected in 2024, according to the man who led US government investigations into him.The evidence against Trump was "sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction at trial," Special Counsel Jack Smith wrote in a partially released report.
Trump hit back, saying Smith was "deranged" and his findings were "fake".
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell delivered remarks from the Senate floor on Saturday after a historic vote to acquit former President Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial.
“January 6th was a disgrace.
“American citizens attacked their own government. They used terrorism to try to stop a specific piece of democratic business they did not like.
“Fellow Americans beat and bloodied our own police. They stormed the Senate floor. They tried to hunt down the Speaker of the House. They built a gallows and chanted about murdering the Vice President.
“They did this because they had been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on Earth — because he was angry he’d lost an election.
“Former President Trump’s actions preceding the riot were a disgraceful dereliction of duty.
“The House accused the former President of, quote, ‘incitement.’ That is a specific term from the criminal law.
“Let me put that to the side for one moment and reiterate something I said weeks ago: There is no question that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day.
“The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their President.
“And their having that belief was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories, and reckless hyperbole which the defeated President kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet Earth.
“It was also the entire manufactured atmosphere of looming catastrophe; the increasingly wild myths about a reverse landslide election that was being stolen in some secret coup by our now-President.
“I defended the President’s right to bring any complaints to our legal system. The legal system spoke. The Electoral College spoke. As I stood up and said clearly at the time, the election was settled.
“But that reality just opened a new chapter of even wilder and more unfounded claims.
“The leader of the free world cannot spend weeks thundering that shadowy forces are stealing our country and then feign surprise when people believe him and do reckless things.
“This was an intensifying crescendo of conspiracy theories, orchestrated by an outgoing president who seemed determined to either overturn the voters’ decision or else torch our institutions on the way out.
“The unconscionable behavior did not end when the violence began.
“Whatever our ex-President claims he thought might happen that day… whatever reaction he says he meant to produce… by that afternoon, he was watching the same live television as the rest of the world.
“A mob was assaulting the Capitol in his name. These criminals were carrying his banners, hanging his flags, and screaming their loyalty to him.
“It was obvious that only President Trump could end this.
“Former aides publicly begged him to do so. Loyal allies frantically called the Administration.
“But the President did not act swiftly. He did not do his job. He didn’t take steps so federal law could be faithfully executed, and order restored.
“Instead, according to public reports, he watched television happily as the chaos unfolded. He kept pressing his scheme to overturn the election!
“Even after it was clear to any reasonable observer that Vice President Pence was in danger… even as the mob carrying Trump banners was beating cops and breaching perimeters… the President sent a further tweet attacking his Vice President.
“Predictably and foreseeably under the circumstances, members of the mob seemed to interpret this as further inspiration to lawlessness and violence.
“Later, even when the President did halfheartedly begin calling for peace, he did not call right away for the riot to end. He did not tell the mob to depart until even later.
“And even then, with police officers bleeding and broken glass covering Capitol floors, he kept repeating election lies and praising the criminals.
“And 74 million Americans did not engineer the campaign of disinformation and rage that provoked it.
“One person did.
“Justice Joseph Story was our nation’s first great constitutional scholar. As he explained nearly 200 years ago, the process of impeachment and conviction is a narrow tool for a narrow purpose.
“Story explained this limited tool exists to “secure the state against gross official misdemeanors.” That is, to protect the country from government officers.
“If President Trump were still in office, I would have carefully considered whether the House managers proved their specific charge.
“By the strict criminal standard, the President’s speech probably was not incitement.
“However, in the context of impeachment, the Senate might have decided this was acceptable shorthand for the reckless actions that preceded the riot.
“But in this case, that question is moot. Because former President Trump is constitutionally not eligible for conviction.

Create as many diversions as possible.
China’s Incorporation of Tibet (1950–1951)
In the early years of the People’s Republic of China, the new Communist government faced immense challenges: economic instability, internal political consolidation, and the need to unify a vast nation. To strengthen national identity and shift focus from domestic growing pains, China moved to assert control over Tibet, framing it as reclaiming historical territory. The move rallied national pride and redirected attention from internal struggles, such as post-civil war recovery. While it bolstered the government’s image as a strong, unifying force, it also sparked long-term tensions, showing the complex outcomes of such strategies.
The Falklands War (1982) — Argentina
Argentina’s military junta, led by General Leopoldo Galtieri, was in crisis in the early 1980s. The economy was in shambles, and the government faced criticism for human rights abuses. To rally the nation, they invaded the Falkland Islands, a British territory, hoping to ignite patriotic fervor. Initially, it worked — Argentines united behind the cause. But Britain’s victory led to the junta’s collapse, proving that diversion can backfire if the conflict fails.
France’s Invasion of Algiers (1830)
King Charles X of France was losing support due to political unrest and economic woes. To boost his image, he launched an invasion of Algiers, hoping a military victory would distract the public. The campaign briefly shifted focus, but it didn’t save his throne — Charles was overthrown soon after. This shows the risks of relying on war to solve domestic problems.
Russia’s Annexation of Crimea (2014)
Facing economic stagnation and political dissent, Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed Crimea, a part of Ukraine, in 2014. The move sparked a wave of national pride, and Putin’s approval ratings soared. By focusing on an external “victory,” he diverted attention from Russia’s internal challenges. This case shows how diversion can succeed when it taps into nationalist sentiments.
U.S. Military Strikes (1990s)
During the 1990s, President Bill Clinton faced domestic scandals and economic pressures. His administration launched military strikes in Iraq (1993) and Kosovo (1999), which some analysts argue were partly meant to shift public focus. While these actions gained some support, they didn’t fully erase domestic controversies, showing that diversion doesn’t always address root issues.
How Does Diversion Work?
Invasion of iraq post 911
As unpopular as Katman: A British memo from July 2002 noted that "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy" of removing Saddam Hussein, suggesting the administration was determined to go to war and sought intelligence to support that decision, rather than letting the intelligence guide the policy.
Domestic Politics: Some analysis suggests that demonstrating strength and being perceived as a decisive "war president" was a crucial political calculation for President Bush, especially following the 9/11 attacks and with re-election concerns in mind. The public was highly susceptible to arguments linking Iraq to terrorism and WMDs, making the war a politically attractive option that marginalized diplomatic alternatives.
Diversionary conflicts rely on a few key elements:
Nationalism: Leaders tap into pride and unity, framing the conflict as a matter of national honor. A common cause, like reclaiming territory or defending borders, brings people together.
Media: News outlets amplify the conflict, often portraying it as essential for the nation’s strength. Today, social media spreads these narratives even faster, shaping public opinion in real time.
Timing: Leaders often act when domestic problems peak, such as during economic slumps or political scandals, to redirect the conversation.

Heyya, I'm a bit late to the party here, but I was hoping you could explain to me - trump was a scammer before he even ran for president in 2016 ala the fake "trump university", so that fraud was not part of the dems trying to impeach him for jay walking from 2016 on. I'm wondering if you can explain why the fact that a Known scammer/criminal gets elected president and gains all the power that comes with that position, that when given immunity from prosecution from the supreme court, then goes on to be the most lawless president ever seen - why is it so hard for so many Americans to comprehend that trump is a fraudulent crim? The only logical conclusion I can come up with is he's intentionally provoking a crisis with the Europeans to give the US an excuse to withdraw from NATO. Is that part of the whole Project 2025 deal?
Having read the latest post from the President about this, it's bewildering, the language is truly bizarre. Appeasement is a dirty word these days, but appeasing Trump might be the best option here, at the very least it gives you time for other events to play out and the situation to, ahem, resolve itself? Meanwhile I hope the Europeans are spending their increased military budgets wisely.

Which he already has access to via existing treaties. The ice won't melt overnight, in the meantime the US Navy has very little in the way of surface vessels that can operate safely in the Arctic. The Canadians and Europeans have many more. So far the Greenlanders have only been able to attract one US company to invest in the local mineral industry, I guess that might get easier as the ice melts too, but not for some time.

All the other time American has tried to secure Greenland, starting in 1860something and many times again it has been with the idea that it will hem Canada in on all sides so they can be convinced to be the 51st state.
But US owes something like 130 Trillion. If Europe and Canada drop thier bonds it will Tank US economy worse than 1930s depression, apparently.

I'm inclined to think that so long as the Europeans keep making a show of negotiating with him, he'll do nothing. Having said that, taking over Greenland is the kind of military challenge he likes, in that they could just land a couple of planes full of troops and say they've annexed it without firing a shot. They might even leave the locals to it, even if they don't recognise the US claim (like in Venezuela).
But yes, I'm sure the Canadians are watching closely, given his bluster about them as well.

Global warming is already affecting trade routes in the Arctic with more to come. Scientific research is needed but US Govt science resources have been crippled by Musk and his DOGE crew. The US is also waaaay behind in ice breakers, hugely outnumbered by Russia.

It should be apparent that anything Trump says about drugs should be taken with a pinch of salt. His excuse for blowing up boats in the Caribbean was that they were running drugs, particularly Fentanyl, to the USA. Bollox! Venezuela doesn't export Fentanyl anywhere. They do export cocaine but most Venezuelan product goes to Europe not to the USA.

Yeah it's not quite as Green as one may expect.
[Memory retention mode activated] Eric the Red (what a name and clearly enamoured with colours) had been banished from Norway for being a dick. Anyhoo he tried to start a new settlement and in Spin that would make a politician proud, Greenland was born. Or presumably the Nordic translation.
This was at the start of a middle ages climate warming and the coastal areas were initially inviting. Even though this wasn't a Norway sanctioned colonisation quite a few people moved there.
It because less hospitable um I'm going to guess 1700ish.
But Norway ended up making it a Protectorate I think.
The Norway and Denmark became one under maybe Queen Margaret. So Greenland became governed by Denmark.
Norway separated at some stage. The WWII disagreement meant the Germans had control of Denmark but Greenland wouldn't fall in line. The Americans put a base there.
So now Greenland has an independency agreement with Denmark but Denmark are kind of mentors. Bit like we are with Rarotonga.
So Denmark can't actually sell Greenland even if it wanted to.

80% of what I wrote is probably close to the historical truth.

Plus the US Navy or coastguard only has one heavy icebreaker. You can't escort shipping safely through the Arctic without icebreakers. They have more on order, guess where from? Finland, their NATO allies.

Well, looks like a TACO situation now, I suspect the 'framework' President Trump has agreed with the Secretary General of NATO for negotiating the purchase of Greenland has no concrete deadline.
If security really is a concern, maybe a jointly financed expansion of the one remaining US base will be the ultimate (token) result? The place is mostly an icy wilderness after all.

If the US is to build new bases in Greenland there should be a stipulation that they clean up the old ones first. So far though it seems the toxic mess is to remain as is and perhaps become a tourist attraction?

If the foreign owned forestries of New Zealand don't have to clean up after them, what chance will they have?

Because putin can't directly take Greenland as that would trigger a full NATO response, part of the reason for getting into Ukraine before they had a chance to join.
If however Greenland was under US control, the orange one could then cave to his ruskie puppet masters and let them have it.
Hard to tell if he's in on the scam, or too blinded by dementia and ego to realise it's happening.

It's hard to tell what the point of this whole exercise has been, short of making the President the centre of global attention for his visit to Davos.
Using the 'Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity' principle, maybe nobody he actually listens to in the administration either knew, or wanted to be the one to tell him, that he already has all the access to Greenland that he could ever need (or want)? And it wasn't until he heard it from Rutte that it actually registered?

Trump is 50% malice and 50% stupidity, it's hard to fit any more percent in there.
He operates on being the smartest man in the room, so yeah. There's a lot of scope for you to be right.
You can imagine disestablished advisers seeing all this and either taking their own lives in frustration or drinking themselves silly.

The misfits and misanthropic chancers Trump has surrounded himself wth are at very the pinnacle of their careers. In the unlikely event they ever get another job they'll never have another position at this level. They'll hang in there until Trump hands them the arse card or they are arrested. Pete Keg Breath, Judge box o' wine, and the Labour Secretary whoever she is, are probably drinking themselves silly as you suggest - situation normal for them.

Um. , , an American? One raised on the idea that you can stop a bad guy with a gun.
Ah. An ICU nurse. Probably a drain on the community. Maybe ice should pick on those other freeloaders? - firemen or search and rescue personnel?
Yes, sarcasm, because I cannot think of a single profession more valuable. OK maybe ICU doctor.

Differing reactions. The people who were offended that they had to make wedding cakes for gay couples and took it to the Supreme Court who affirmed their right to deny service are outraged that some business owners are refusing ICE members service.
The "right to bear arms" people are a bit more consistent. ICE Barbie Noem says that the ICU nurse killed had dozens of rounds of ammunition. He had a spare magazine. He was carrying his pistol legally and it had been removed before he was shot. Some 2nd Amendment fans are expressing concern. As they well might.
