Did you miss the bit where I said "a greater range of chronic illness"?
That would include the myriad of allergy conditions as well as all the psychological disorders that have manifested themselves over recent decades.
And when was Cancer "discovered"? Even if you only count the years since it was "discovered", there has been an enormous increase in the incidence of Cancer.
If you can't see that you should probably get your fucking eyes checked.
(And you weren't "taking the piss" - you were stroking your own cock).

Learn the difference between "chronic" illness and "acute"
Chronic illnesses don't kill you. They annoy the fuck out of you and affect the quality of life.
You can't claim a higher mortality rate from "chronic illnesses"
Generally speaking, a lot of what were once acute illnesses are now able to be downgraded to chronic - and managed.
that's where the significant drop in deathrates has come from.
On the other hand, you I'd describe as a chronic pain in the arse.

Much better to continue with BAU and ignore the evidence and what it points to. The trigger is already pulled. Helen Clark stated we have a 5% chance of mitigating climate change where we continue as we are in a recent interview. The IPCC dude that visited said that governments aren't willing to do what's necessary. And who can blame them when in order to keep the land, water and air clean, we need to stop production of at least 50% of the worlds production. and that doesn't sell well, even if the outcome is turning Earth into Mars within the next generation or two. While some of GlobalResearch's articles discuss legitimate humanitarian concerns, its view of science, economics, and geopolitics is conspiracist — if something goes wrong, the Jews West didit! The site has long been a crank magnet: If you disagree with "Western" sources on 9/11, or HAARP, or vaccines, or H1N1, or climate change, or anything published by the "mainstream" media, then GlobalResearch is guaranteed to have a page you will love.

Admittedly, this was reported by the Russian RT news channel, so we

And Don lasted two hours at the UN Security Council meeting yesterday

If you're not a CC believer, then there is no need to read any further.
I admit to being interested in climate change (CC), initially simply trying to
gain an understanding of what people were talking about. Probably started
around the time the NZ Emissions Trading System (ETS) was first being
developed.
To help my own understanding, I compiled a spreadsheet of CC factors and
possible physical manifestations. I also mocked up a few graphical models to
try and show possible relationships between factors.
It seemed when I started looking for information (and over the intervening
time period) there was very little analysis and discussion of CC going on
in our own regional area (NZ and Australia). Even the IPCC reports make
that point.
This seemed surprising. Especially given that NZ is a very exposed group of
islands out in the Pacific, with large population centres close to the sea,
and NZ very much dependent upon agriculture for its livelihood.
Even more so, that if you don't at least perform some data measurement and
data analysis, you lack data possibly needed for meaningful discussion later.
And for decision making on future mitigating action.
It is personally heartening (?) to see a new report having just been published
by NZCCRI and NIWA, where they have started to estimate possible economic
costs of CC to NZ.
https://treasury.govt.nz/sites/default/files/2018-08/LSF-estimating-financial-cost-of-climate-change-in-nz.pdf
The first 8-9 pages of the report are a bit dry, talking about data sources,
analysis methodology and some of the limitations. Results start page 9.
Pages 9-10 - Economic Impact. While the numbers published are interesting,
it was the conclusion that the numbers very much understate true economic
impact upon NZ.
Pages 11-12 - Other Weather Events. That further study on currently excluded
weather event types could vastly improve our understanding and assessment
of risk to NZ due to CC.
Pages 13-15 - Wider Climate Impacts. This section was for me the most useful.
Because:
(i) it presented diagrams that highlighted relationships between various factors
(impacts), in a way that people can easily understand and relate to ;
(ii) it listed CC manifestations likely to become more common (and observable).

That actually is a good question - 2% (give or take) of the world population and yet they are involved in 98% (give or take) of world politics, banking, theatre and education etc.
Even more astounding is the fact that the 2% is quite disjointed and indifferent to any specific one of those groups - truly amazing group of people with amazing history. (5,000 yr?)
Even more amazing is the brainwashing that prevents them being discussed in any form without screams of anti-Semitism and racist bigotry - such as you do! - Begs the question - Why?

That's always a possibility, but perfume is much more personal.
My wife has some particularly good perfume. We've been married
36 years, and she has always said "one dab of this behind each
ear, and it'll knock you flat. As good as dead". And that's her
ears, not mine, by the way. Just for clarity sake.
Actually, now that I re-read the above, that's an unfortunate
choice of words. This English language is so difficult.
So you may be right. Stick to grapes.
Mind you, I'd try and avoid any late harvest grapes. Just the
mere hint of botrytis, and it'll just probably just start another
Screwball, er Skripal, saga.

In some ways, I'm glad that I'm not a learner rider learning to ride a motorcycle again.
Have just gotten back for a wee toddle over to and around the Wairarapa. A perfect
day to be out riding, and plenty of other riders out.
But I have to say there are some ar$ehole drivers about, when it comes to showing
some consideration for learner riders.
Leaving Greytown (heading to Featherston), I happened to catch up with two riders,
one on a new machine (clearly signed as a learner rider, and following an experienced
rider). I followed them for some distance, and while the learner rider was riding fairly
well and keeping up a steady pace, some of the car drivers catching up to her ended
up driving right up her exhaust pipe before passing.
And one clearly gave her a bit of a scare as he overtook just at the Featherston end
of the passing lane south of Tauheranikau, and made the return back in front of her
fairly close.
"B#gger this", I thought, "it's tough enough to learn to ride, without having to worry
about such idiots". So I pulled in and rode behind her, positioned far enough out that
drivers should have been able to see she was present and a learner, that "we were
riding in a group", and that I was riding TEC. That way, they concentrated more on
me, and less on her.
And she did well, going up and over the Rimutakas and down SH2 as far as Melling
Bridge (where they both turned off).
Even then, there were still two car drivers on River Road and Western Hutt Road
(two lane going south) that decided quite late they wanted to turn off - and they
clearly thought about interposing them-self between the two of us in the left lane
(but who ended up just slowing right down and tucking in behind me, where there
was still plenty of space). Damned if I know what was going on in their heads.

Don is feeling "very insulted" that his good friend Emmanuel Macron could
even suggest replacing some (or all) of NATO by European forces (possibly
even deploying European made armaments):
https://russia-insider.com/en/very-insulting-trump-bashes-macrons-idea-european-army-protection-russia-china-us/ri25335
The French seem to be the most likely to want to strike an independent
course (remember de Gaulle withdrew France from NATO in 1966, and they
did not return until 43 years later in 2009 under Sarkozy) :
https://www.clingendael.org/sites/default/files/2018-08/PB_European_Strategic_Autonomy.pdf
Given that:
-the USSR agreed to the consolidation of E and W Germany in 1989 (subject
to NATO agreement not to expand eastward)
-the USSR then collapsed in 1991 (with its military in very poor shape)
the justification of NATO (in response to a Russian threat) almost
evaporated overnight back in 1991.
However, NATO was then quickly "re-purposed" (its new mission became
then to "respond to threats from dangerous third party states").
It has since:
-expanded across much of eastern Europe (violating verbal assurances)
-been involved in several military adventures outside Western Europe
(Yugoslavia; Libya)
So, my questions:
1. Given the current state of political affairs (not to forget trade wars),
should Europe consider a shift to a European controlled / funded / manned /
operated NATO in the future ?
2. Should it limit its scope to protection of Europe alone ? And engage
outside Europe only under the auspices of the UN ?
3. What would be the main benenfits of Europe doing so (or not) ?
Your thoughts welcomed.
Feel free to use any of the following points in reply.
================================================== ======
1. NATO Expansion
-Further expansion of NATO across eastern Europe ? Desirable ?
-Deployment right up to Russian Borders ? [ e.g. Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia ]
2. NATO Involvement oustide Europe
-Involvement of European NATO forces in wars outside of the European mainland ?
3. Threat Assessment
-Europeans make own Assessment of Russian Military Threat (vs a US Assessment) ?
-How Easy to Obtain Concensus (given polarity of opinions) ?
4. Talking with the Enemy
-Restoration of European vs Russia Military Engagement and Co-Operation ?
-Less Political Posturing and Threat Making ?
-Support Future Reduction (removal) of Economic Sanctions against Russia
(and Reinstatement of Trading ?)
5. European Defence Policy
- A Common European Defence Policy Defined by Europe (vs one Dictated by
the US) ?
6. European Defence Budget
-A European Specified Budget (vs a US Dictated Spend) ?
7. European Spend on Military Equipment
-Europe NATO Not Necessarily Spend on Purchase of US Military Hardware ?
-Able to Spend on Design, Development and Deployment of own Euro military
hardware ?
8. European Forces Deployment and Training
-Risk reduction ? e.g. Not Conducting Exercises close to Russian borders ?
-Continued Co-Operation and Training with US Forces ?
9. Operational Readiness
-Greater Certainty that Defence Forces would be Available and Ready to Address
a Threat (vs Reliance upon the US) ?
10. Operational Control
-Own Operational Control over European Military and Hardware (vs US Control) ?
11. Decision to Initiate Live Military Action
-Triggering of European Defence Hardware (Missiles) or Movement of Forces to be
under European Control (vs US Control) ?
12. Eaves-Dropping
-Reduced Chance of Spying or Eaves-dropping on European Military ?
13. Removal of US Military Infrastructure used for Military Operation outside
Europe ?
e.g. US usage of German Ramstein base for drones in AFRICOM operations ?
14. Economic Loss for Local European Support Services (following withdrawal
of existing US Forces from certain European countries) ?
15. Future Threats
-Increased Migrant (or Terrorist) Flows into Europe ?
-Cyber War ?
-Space ?

It seems that my Scandinavian cousins had a good party recently, and by the
comments from a number of western sources, Trident Juncture 2018 in Finland
was "great success" (or was it Sacha Baron Cohen who said that?).
Anyway, it sounds like the Russians (even though uninvited) may have managed
to help the allies make the exercise a little more realistic.
https://russia-insider.com/en/finnish-pm-accuses-russia-making-natos-giant-trident-juncture-military-drill-more-realistic/ri25354
It's as well allied aircraft didn't stray into Russian airspace as a result. Just
imagine the drama that would have caused. And the newspaper headlines in
the NY Times:
"Russian Radar lures Allied Aircraft into Russian Air Space to use for
Missile Target Practice".
Though I think there may still be a small navigation problem present, with
all the Scandinavian countries currently pulling to the right, instead of
traditionally staying down the centre.
That Norwegian frigate must surely be a case in point. At first, I thought
they may have overdone "stealth mode" (build the vessel with a low profile
designed to evade detection by radar), but I think from the latest photos
we can safely say it was a simple navigation error.
https://russia-insider.com/en/nato-drills-fallout-norwegian-frigate-pretty-much-toast/ri25361
I did hear (from anonymous sources) that with all the shipping traffic
envisaged in the Arctic Circle in the future, the Allies were considering
taking "stealth" to the next level and deploying military vessels looking
exactly like oil tankers.
Not only have they proven themselves to be more robust (case in point
above), but it will become increasingly harder to tell which vessels are
military and which are not.
The Russians will never see that one coming (until it's too late, of course).

Take money out of the equation and there's plenty of houses.
"If you look at the town I live in - Clyde, a third of the houses in Clyde are unoccupied almost all of the time because they are holiday homes. And look people have worked hard and they've gained those.
"But when you've got businesses that can't get workers because they've got nowhere to live and you've got young people who have got nowhere to live and are leaving the area. And a third of your houses are empty, you've got to ask yourself if the system is bust or not." Global Warming is a bit of a misnomer .. It's Climate Change
Warmer air means more water evaporation - so more clouds in the sky . these will in some places, block the sun and be cooler underneath - and more rain .. more rain - more floods - we can see that happening.
It means more energy in the atmosphere - so higher wind speeds .. that's why the hurricanes crossing the Atlantic and slamming into the US are getting stronger ..
That's why we are seeing more tornadoes on Godzone .. more energy and changes creating the conditions where they develop.
To think that the planet is simply getting warmer is to misunderstand Climate Change and what will really happen.

Saw a recent online discussion, mountain bike racers were complaining that the tracks are getting too easy now and are insufficiently demanding.
The suggestion was made that they should park their super expensive, fully suspended, crafted from exotic material bike in the shed. Instead they should tackle the tracks on their old steel unsuspended bikes to put the challenge back. Also the dudes whinging are probably elite level or close, and the tracks they find disappointing are more than challenging enough for mere mortals.
I had some sympathy with that argument but now I'm off to view Viking's clips.

One lesson that I've put to good practice in more recent years
is not to necessarily believe headline stories, but to wait a
period of time (say 1-2 weeks) for the story to "mature".
And so it seems that Donald's "immediate troop withdrawal from
Syria" - following the defeat of ISIS - has now matured into
"we're staying - until ISIS has been defeated - and the Kurds
are safe".
https://www.apnews.com/e03de193e25e4fc19377ce99f947aa45
I suspect a possible reason for the "change in position" is
that at the time of the original press announcement, Donald
was not wearing one of the approved virtual reality headsets
(as modelled by most of the audience shown in the photo in
the article).
On a separate topic, I see that they may have determined the
cause of the earlier "sonic attacks" on the US embassy in Cuba.
At the time, I thought that such behaviour was just not cricket.
But by being patient and waiting for clarification, it seems ....

Maybe you would care to explain how that video is different from the Nazi propaganda?
Or is it you aim just to post WW2 nazi propaganda?

Perhaps seeing as you are a self styled expert on Hitler made you could tell me what He meant when he wote this in his political testament the day before he blew his brains out.
http://www.auschwitz.dk/will2.jpg
But I left no doubt about the fact that if the peoples of Europe were again only regarded as so many packages of stock shares by these international money and finance conspirators, then that race, too, which is the truly guilty party in this murderous struggle would also have to be held to account: the Jews! I further left no doubt that this time we would not permit millions of European children of Aryan descent to die of hunger, nor millions of grown-up men to suffer death, nor hundreds of thousands of women and children to be burned and bombed to death in their cities, without the truly guilty party having to atone for its guilt, even if through more humane means.
Given in Berlin, 29th April 1945, 4:00 a.m.
signed: A. Hitler
Signed as witnesses:
Dr. Joseph Goebbels
Wilhelm Burgdorf
Martin Bormann
Hans Krebs
Just what was he referring to with that last sentence if not the killing of millions of innocent people for no other reason than they were Jewish.

Gillette's triumphant ad campaign encouraging men to renounce their evil rapin and molestin ways crashes and burns on re entry to the real world. This is what happens when you let a hairy arsed feminist create an ad campaign to sell razors to men. Personally I collected all my gillette products and ritually burned them before heading off to Countdown to purchase a competing product. Best comment so far... So, you can probably guess which side of this debate I sit on - but I'm curious:
By what rationale or right does an advert for Razor blades have to morally lecture someone about Social issues? Serious or otherwise?
Not only the above, but it comes with a presupposition that the viewpoint they are advocating is objectively right, and not only that, but said presupposition is neither earned nor comes with any form of Mandate.

Compare the 2 implicit statements:
1: Buy our Razor, it's the best Razor.
2: You're a bad person because you aren't as virtuous as us, if you buy our product, you'll be able to redeem yourself partially from the guilt of original Sin.
If it was an isolated instance - no one would care, but this is but the latest in a long line of companies taking established (and sometimes beloved) IP and using it as a platform to shove a particular political viewpoint down our collective throats or prejudicially applying their ToS to further said political viewpoint
Star Wars, GhostBusters, Oceans 8, Battlefield 5, Magic: The Gathering, Youtube, Patreon, Facebook, Twitter, MasterCard, Paypal, Myriad of Comic Book titles and now Gillette. They are currently gunning for James Bond I understand.
In all of the above cases, the result of trying to shove political Ideology where it's not wanted has been loss of Revenue, which results in the loss of that IP from being further developed/delivered.
And People are getting Sick of it, they are getting Sick of being called *ists when they know they aren't, they are sick of being lectured to by Companies who've usurped a moral highground they have no right to assume, they are sick of seeing their favourite bits of content - in some cases, content they have spent thousands of dollars, over decades supporting, enjoying, promoting - being destroyed by someone elses malicious utopian vision.

Where's the Off switch for overt Political Ideology? I mean - almost all the items in the list I presented have suffered large scale losses as a result of poisoning their content with their political viewpoint - yet companies are still doing it.
If customers are voting with their Wallets and the companies are still doing it - what next?
Do we the fans get to take over control of the IP so we can remake a beloved franchise as it should be?

All the best ads 'start with why'. The ad would have you believe Gillette wants men to be the best that they can be, how they do that is with the best shave possible for a man's appearance to be the best possible, what they use to do it are razor blades. Selling an idea is a far more powerful marketing strategy than selling a commodity product.
As to the message itself, it violates no advertising laws, and they pay to get it out there, no mandate or morale rationale is required.

No, but this point has I think illuminated what is objectionable about the Ad:
The definition of what makes a Man the best he can be is a negotiated Social Contract. Men decide who is Best among them, and when there is disagreement (typically) will engage in conflict to resolve it (not necessarily fighting - Sport, Debate, etc.) - but that's only half of the Coin, Women ALSO decide who is Best among Men, and settle the disagreement via Mate selection (effectively).
Whilst not an exact science - the major character traits are generally well know: Confident, Resilient, Fit/Healthy, Successful, Tall, Competent, Humble, self-sacrificing, Conscientious etc. etc.
Basically take every Action Hero from every Action Movie, Extract the Meta Character traits and combine them from every Meta trait from Fabio from every Mills and Boon novel.
We know it, Women know it. And now Gillette wish to replace this, with a narrative that isn't based on that, it's based purely on an ideological viewpoint that the majority of Men and Women don't agree with. That in of-itself isn't the most egregious part, it's the implicit lauding of this faux-moral superiority over the rest of us dirty, unwashed plebeians that is the offensive part.

Never underestimate the ability of ad agency types to talk their clients into their next ‘big idea’, nor how bored their creatives get trying to come up with it, nor how likely they are to jump on a ‘worthy’ bandwagon to make themselves feel better about what they’re doing for a living.

I have to admit finding it difficult trying to get a good understanding
why the UK wanted to exit the EU, and of the Brexit process itself.
Now the vote on the Withdrawal Agreement Document has been taken
(and lost, resoundingly), May then had three days to come up with an
alternative plan (Monday 21st January - today UK time). The Withdrawal
Agreement document actually allowed 21 days for this phase, but May
chose the minimum time allowable.
And there is one further date (29 March 2019) where, if no high level
Withdrawal Agreement can be agreed in the interim ("No Deal"), then
the UK will (by default) automatically exit the EU.
Even if "No Deal" is the outcome, the UK and EU will then need to start
another negotiation cycle, in order to specify how they will interact with
one another going forward.
I have been collecting links to Brexit related documents over the past 18
months, simply to try and find some good explanation:
- Why go through this "divorce" process ? What were the perceived benefits
of Brexit to the UK, and did they justify all this effort and upheaval ?
- Whether UK politicians recognised the potential (adverse) impact upon UK
companies and citizens - as well as the magnitude of UK-EU negotiation
likely required in the event of a "No Deal" outcome.
I attach links for a few of these documents, in case they are of interest.

I never said they weren't within their rights to present their views (He who pays the piper - right?) but the message within that view contains a moral judgement and an implicit lecture.
I'm asking what makes them think they've earned the right to assume the Moral highground. Was there a Vote I missed to make Gillette arbiters of what is/isn't acceptable Masculinity? Have they consistently acted in a manner as to be judged by both peers and customers to be virtuous?
Point is - you can't simply declare "I'm better than you, and therefore you should do as I say". And that's part of the Wider Backlash.

So how about the road safety ads? Wear seat belts, slow down, don't use a cellphone ..
Ads for safe sex ...
There are plenty of ads that tell you what to do and how to behave ..
All of those are run by the Government - those who we Elect. If we think the Moral lecture we get from them has crossed some line, we can vote to change them.
For the other 3 adverts:
The first one is a Challenge/invitation, not a Lecture - it's not asking Men to change their behavior but consider a different career path.
Same with the German one, it's a Challenge (although that one has a clear comedic element to it).
The second is interesting - I can see how you could interpret it as a Moral Lecture, but I'm not sure it is. It certainly is portraying an Ideal of Masculinity, it is also presenting a path to becoming a better Man. However, the difference is that it leads by Example, and more specifically - an Example that is universally accepted by Men. It's using an accepted, pre-existing archetype and linking it back to the message. It's not simply claiming the moral highground and then forcing something unearned upon us.

HM Is Sitting On $4.3 Billion Worth Of Unsold Stock (https://wellmadeclothes.co.nz/articles/HM43BillionWorthOfUnsoldClothes)
Burn it. Don't give it to those who need it. We want people who need clothes to buy clothes, cos that's fair.

Jonathan Haidt is awesome.
He'd have to be one of the most reasonable people who's active in the field of ideas at the moment,

Y'know, there's something deeply discouraging about the concept of ideas as "a field". Like "productive sector" it's almost like there's some place you have to go to do that shit. And put this wee hat on while you're at it.
Rather than both being a bit like breathing: a necessary function of living which you don't get to delegate, or sub out to some other poor schmuck.

:-) I'm quite happy to listen to people with expertise in fields that I'm not up to speed with but interested in. But it was a rather clunky way of expressing it.

Meanwhile in Venezuela... hundreds of thousands protest against the socialist cocksuckers who have transformed their country into a hell hole. Jeremy Corbyn will be having an aneurysm.

And?
Their morality. Free speech doesn't require a vote dude.
You are constantly doing the same as they are, but just on your pissant little soapbox. Are you simply frustrated as their morality gains more and more popularity over your own?

We should take a leaf out of the Aussies book and deport him to the Cook Islands.

Oh, So NOW you support Free Speech... Tell me again how you vociferously defended Alex Jones...

Actually, No. See if you can figure out what the difference is between what Gillette have done and what you think I do.

Free speech includes the right to tell someone to shut the fuck up. How can you not understand this?
There is no difference, well save the one that Gillete don't carry on with all the hand wavey bullshit like you do. Just get you two brain cells in close enough proximity to bounce a point off each other and post it with clarity for fucks sake.
The one in which major companies are more and more likely to promote equality and fair treatment of all genders and races.

Indeed it does, it ALSO includes putting up and defending other people's right to Free Speech.
That's the funny thing about Rights - they have this nasty habit of working both ways.
That's the part you're lacking - You're all about Free Speech when it's you (and only you) doing the Speaking. I'm all about Free Speech when it's people I can't stand doing the speaking.

Oh, but there is. It's one thing to disagree with an Ideal or Movement, it's entirely another to try and supplant an existing concept with your own twisted parody.
The one in which major companies are more and more likely to promote equality and fair treatment of all genders and races.
And hows that working out for them? Gillette have confirmed that their Ad campaign, despite going viral has generated no extra revenue.
GhostBusters and Oceans 8 were commercial Failures (I believe a combined loss of something like $500 Million).
Battlefield 5 was a commercial failure
Buzzfeed and Huffington post are laying off staff.
But all of this is Academic - you said that this was 'Popular' - By your own admission however, it's not popular, its just Major Companies doing it. And the Populace (related to the concept of 'popular' that you seem to be confused about) are voting with their wallets. As the saying goes:
Whence thou get Woke, thou shalt become Broke.
