:killingme :killingme :killingme and yet the drivers continued to drive for free. The business stopped that though, coz they don't care who they inconvenience... which is why they don't pay wages in line with cost of living increases knowing full well that this would happen. Likely hoping to drive the value of drivers down even further... or given the way the market is going, they'll score some dodgy drivers at nice prices as they tender the work. All so predictable. But yeah, blame the guy who actually does the work for pointing out that they're not getting paid enough to do the work :killingme... stupid cunts with an agenda, usually more money for ME, do that sort of thing.

Muldoon loved a good wage freeze.
Whats more free market than people negotiating a wage increase.

I remember the 'wage freeze', meant you had to change companies to get a pay increase, it was a tradie merry go round.
Went from $7.50 to over $10.00 ( and a Ford Escort van) in a matter of months. Only to find a year later you could get $15 in Sydney.
Some of my work mates went on to 'Think Big" projects such as Glenbrook, Marsden Pt and Huntly Power Station but easy come easy go saw much of that 'invested' in what soon became worthless shares.
I dabble in the share market but working in Corporate I find the financial a bit smoke and mirrors.

Friday the 13th. Supposedly unlucky for some.
I've ignored both the Trump impeachment proceedings (and vote), as well as UK election results. Others are monitoring those side shows.
I see that Don has supposedly "signed off in principle" on the "phase one" agreement relating to the US-China trade war. But we've been here before, so we'll wait for tariff deadlines to pass and for the ink to hit the page first, and then look at what was finally agreed. The story varies a little, depending upon what source you read:
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/dec/12/us-china-trade-deal-in-principle-tariffs
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-50765743
https://thehill.com/policy/finance/474381-us-china-reach-limited-trade-deal-ahead-of-tariff-deadline

Guess that Don might like to be able to announce some "positive" news before Christmas, and not annoy local US consumers (voters) unnecessarily.
You can decide for yourself who was the "winner" of round one. And why.

It's been a tough time for Australia with droughts and forest fires:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/dec/13/australias-politicians-face-a-crisis-of-legitimacy-as-fire-and-smoke-chokes-the-country
https://www.smh.com.au/business/the-economy/winter-crop-forecasts-slashed-as-armageddon-drought-bites-20191202-p53g2p.html
Under the circumstances, I'd expected Australia to be setting aside funds for projects to address water supply and address environmental issues.
On a separate note, Australia has had a relationship with NATO since 2011. More recently, NATO has been talking about extending its reach into the Pacific (to ring fence the Chinese), and there were some preliminary discussions with Australia back in August:
https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2019/08/29/australia-furthers-its-cooperation-with-nato/
I now see mention of a possible Atlantic-Pacific military alliance, with Australia due to join in 2026:
https://www.voltairenet.org/article208535.html
Australia seems to have already bought into the general proposition:
https://sputniknews.com/asia/201912121077557845-australia-to-spend-715-million-upgrading-port-to-accommodate-more-us-navy-ships---report/
Perhaps they see the "Chinese threat" (whatever that might be) as being more of an existential threat.
But with Cape Town in South Africa having recently come close to "Day Zero" (regarding supply of residential water supply), I would have thought Australia might be more focused on its own water and environmental security.
I hope that we don't seeing Australians sailing across the Tasman and coming to NZ as "economic refugees" when the water runs out ... :eek5:

Sputnik is russian propaganda news outlet.
If the Aussies were that bad off they would be sailing tankers over here to take our water which we are practically giving away anyway.
And with regards to NATO. I approve of this because imo Australia needs a WAY bigger navy and airforce than they currently have to protect not only themselves but US aswell.
If we dont have to pay much of anything for that protection well.... im not complaining.
Indonesia alone has something like 150million people and if they became an aggressor which imo is highly likely in the next 50-100 years given who runs the place we should be prepared for that.
All China has to do is have a military pact with Indonesia and get them to do the hard yards for them.
Honestly NZer's and Aussies need to wake up.

That's just fucking stupid for s many reasons it's hard to know where to begin. So I won't, because both left and right and all of the shades in between still haven't nailed the problem, which is access to resources, including somewhere to live. Problem solved.
And I disagree that left or right has not created the problem. IMO JK is when national took a major leap to the left. Therefore the left created this mess.
And afterall it was Comrade Helen who started importing the third world (and the rich chinese who bought all the houses) en masse.
Thats why we find ourselves in this situation. Because of globalism which is a leftist idealogy. Both National and Labour are globalist parties. Hence why I wont be voting for them!

The inevitable structural violence ensues i.e. homelessness and poverty, at the expense of jobs and comfort. The reason the numbers are rising is because there is a lack of property... let alone at an affordable rate. The jails already run at quite a high capacity and given the cost of keeping a prisoner in jail is approx $100lk per year, you'd be better off buying the homeless an entire community of small houses, land to farm on, and so on, simply because it would be cheaper to do that in the long run.
As such, one more bout of your right/left wing bollocks will see me apply the ignore function that has only ever known tdl, husatwat, and bogan... because you are spouting a rather archaic politically trite dogma that has been tried, tested and failed. What are you talking about the government already pays exorbitant amounts for motels all around the country. Kiwibuild??? Hello what happened there? I happen to know a fair bit about this as family is in commercial realestate. Theres a motel straight over the road from my wife's work that houses these people en masse because of the near 100% occupancy it allows the motel to achieve at good rates.
You can see motel owners getting out of the business and selling up over this because of the degeneracy they have to deal with on a daily basis. Even though the money is good the trouble it brings is not for everyone. So we are destroying the motel industry in Rotorua and other towns (even though some of the motel owners may not realize it yet) and destroying the tourisim industry in Rotorua because tourists sometimes make the mistake of also staying at these motels where these "homeless" get up to their shenanigans.
Acting like all homeless are just down on their luck and arent responsible for their situation is just not true. Some of them are complete scum of earth who shouldnt even be out of jail where they belong. Sure some of them are genuine homeless who either cant or are uncapable of supporting themselves those ones I have no problem with my tax payer dollars helping them out the others not so much.
Not everyone falls for the pull on the heartstrings rubbish half this country does as some of us actually see what really goes on.
This issue is only going to get worse giving these people handouts. This government made a massive song and dance about fixing this and the housing issue and one year out from the next election we are in exactly the same place (worse actually) than when they were on the opposition benches chortling about fixing these issues!

And we wonder where the homeless keep coming from. Despite the fact that we've gotten to the point where motels are being extensively used, there are still homeless. Despite the fact that to get to that point you need to have ignored housing shortages for quite some time and not just under any single government.
The trouble is a pain in the arse, yes. But where else do you house the people that have been ignored for decades? We create and maintain property to a standard where it's profitable, otherwise every house built in NZ would be made of the best materials available and designed to last centuries. The problem is money, the outcome is less than optimal humans.

We did/do know better though, but how do you slam on the brakes of a culture that sees the homeless as inconvenient and then bitches about paying too much tax to cover the cost of living for a growing number of people whilst at the same time limiting their own tax liability. And yet not a mention of why the pollutants are in the air and land and water i.e. the production of shite that serves no life purpose.
It is wholly rational to stop the economic activity that is causing the problem in the first place. If that's not on the menu, then success will be limited and everything will die. There are no ifs ands or buts in regards to that being a requirement, because the energy saved by stopping that economic activity will be massive... and I do mean massive. All of a sudden gas and coal last longer and so on. But they're not even talking about it, which shows just how irrational their solutions still are. Perhaps they don't understand the nature of the problem, which they don't, because capitalistic activity requires the polluting to take place, else there's too little resource to float any market.
Selling bits of planet for profit does not encourage the inhabitants of that planet to live within the means of the planet nor indeed their own individual means in any way shape or form. The evidence proves this without question... and where we cut the required production, so no financial system, and therefore capitalism, will be able to survive. That and economics isn't that hard to understand so long as you can stay away from rote learning the manual of capitalistic economics (all modern day economics) and associated political propaganda, and instead understand just how useful the systems that we have are and that we're simply using them for the purpose of floating a financial economy which sees us squander Eden by paving paradise and putting up parking lots...............
The evidence is what it is. All systems could be used in vastly more efficient ways, but ALL economic models that I've seen proposed so far fall down because they still rely on bits of planet being sold for profit to crack the Economic Calculation Problem. Such is hard to accept, but is KB proven! lol... but it very much is what it clearly is, and it ain't purdy by any stretch of the imagination.

I agree, EVERYBODY not just the USA should be kicking these clowns out. I foresee a day when NZ has UN troops posted even here in NZ and they run around raping everyone they can like they do overseas.
The UN needs to be kicked out of western countries and all funding ceased.
I reckon the next trick they will pull if something major kicks off in the US around the next election they will go in under the guise of "keeping the peace" or some such bullshit like that but we know who's side they will really be on.

With friends in both Sydney and Adelaide (the latter having had to evacuate their home twice in December), admit to feeling sorry for those affected by the bushfires. Having worked in Australia on occasion since the late 1970's, feel that these fires must rate as the most extreme that I can recall. Much worse than Ash Wednesday in Victoria back in 1983 (and Black Saturday in 2009).
Somehow, Scotty, I don't think they're feeling the love. I think that they are asking for some signs of leadership and Government action (not hand-shakes and photo ops by the PM):

He should of come straight back from that holiday BUT you have two extremes....
You have Jacinda on one side who's going to run around actively looking for photo ops with hugs and hijabs. Everybody is different and im afraid that type of carry on doesnt wash with me (im sure it does with others). She doesnt know those people and will probably never communicate with them again after the photo op. To me its all just too disengenous to take seriously but people still do.
The one of morrison with the firefighter is telling..... theres a time to go actively looking for a photo op and getting embarrassed when someone doesnt shake your hand and there a time to look like you are out on the ground doing something to atleast look like your helping fix the issues. Scott is not Jacinda.... she might get away with that bullshit but he cant.
In both cases neither Jacinda or Scott are seeing the real picture imo. They are just looking for a political opportunity to gain mileage.
Leadership in the west is seriously lacking atm imo across the board. I feel Trump is still the only one that actually gets it.
I have also seen comments about the greens type's in australia actively stopping fire burn backs. That to me is something that needs to be exposed by the MSM but of course they have the opposite narrative to push so thats probably not going to happen. The aboriginals have known about fire burn backs since adam was a boy. Many people in Australia are actively linking up with aboriginal elders to get their experience in fire burn backs and why they do it. (I dont even think they need that as its blatantly obvious fire burn backs work if its done at the right time before things get out of control and under the right conditions).
People acting like bushfires are a new thing or the "biggest ever" are the neanderthals of human evolution we can look at our own glaciers here in NZ and see major bush fires raging in australia going back as far as we like. These current bush fires are nothing new. We just have more people and the internet to spread the propaganda further now.

Internet headline this morning that Queenie is angrier with Harry than she is with Andrew. No doubt just another piece of clickbait (which I couldn't resist) as nowhere in the article did it say that at all. It was an opinion from the notorious "inside source" who said Lizzie would be angrier... Funny how "is" is actually "would be" ; and not a quote straight from the horses mouth (although who knows).
Got me thinking though - if it were genuinely true then how STUPID could that be! Ooh, let's see (a) young royal quickly losing any rank he had in The Firm standing up for himself or
(b) old fogey embroiled in an horrific train wreck sex scandal of epic proportions.
Golly, I wonder who is more deserving of Her Maj's anger - the spare (no longer required heir) grand son or the favourite son.....

The US Treasury also pumped another three billion worth of quantitative easing into the economy most of which went directly into the stock market. The current rate of quantitative easing is reportedly running at 12 times the rate it was when they were trying to recover from the General Financial Collapse.
For anyone unfamiliar with the term quantitative easing it used to be known as 'printing money'. It's artificially boosting the stock market but there may be a price to pay later.

Israel Defense Minister Wants 1 Million Israelis in West Bank (https://nz.news.yahoo.com/israel-defense-minister-wants-1-125432522.html)
"The West Bank is divided into three categories with varying levels of Palestinian autonomy. Jewish settlements are concentrated in Area C, where Israel retains nearly exclusive control. Israeli negotiators have pressed to include the heavily settled areas as part of sovereign Israel under any peace agreement, with land swaps for the Palestinians elsewhere.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to extend Israeli sovereignty to all West Bank settlements as he sought votes ahead of national elections last year. He’ll face an unprecedented third vote in less than 12 months on March 2."

Now we've got three or more White House staff, including the Vice President and the Secretary of State who believe that the end days are upon us and they see themselves as instruments of God's will. The US is seemingly nowhere near as concerned about that as it should be.

Ah Boris, you are such a joker.
Always willing to crack a joke or two, even on the sidelines of a conference trying to establish an arms embargo and to halt fighting:
https://southfront.org/boris-johnson-no-normalization-with-russia-until-its-current-regime-is-eliminated/
Just as well you're not trying and meddle in Russian politics, and to influence their future voting re constitutional changes.
By the way, with all the recent US huffing-and-puffing over Iran, the focus seems to have gone off Brexit. Due for January 31st.
So how is your Brexit preparation going ?
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-51161808
Given the success of the Brexit negotiations over the past 2-3 years, your accelerated 11 month schedule to conclude a UK-EU trade deal
sounds very ambitious. Is that the right word ? The EU spokesmen don't sound quite as optimistic:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-trade-deal-eu-uk-boris-johnson-timetable-a9287416.html
And a free trade deal with China as well ?
You don't think that China might be a little pre-occupied (with Don seeking a second US-China trade deal) ? Or will he likely either be
in prison, or simply be too busy preparing for the US 2020 election ?
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jan/19/brexit-uk-trade-deal-china-us-compromise
Exciting times ahead. And we're only 3 weeks into 2020.
[Edit]
Only one day later, and Boris is off wooing another group:

Since the grounding of the 737MAX, Boeing have developed a habit of issuing "optimistic" estimates of when their 737MAX might return to service.
After:
- the appointment of a new head to FAA (Dickson, ex pilot), who went out of his way to publicly castigate Boeing for this behaviour
- the recent firing of Boeing CEO Muilenburg at the end of 2019,
you might have expected Boeing management and PR to have pulled back on unilaterally issuing "optimistic estimates" as to when the 737 MAX might return to service.
Since then, there has been publication of comments by Boeing staff critical of technical management:
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2019/11/faa-pushes-back-on-boeing-pressure-to-recertify-737-max-by-year-end-agency-also-considering-major-revamp-of-certification-process.html
plus some newly identified issues such as wiring (which could have had serious consequence):
https://southfront.org/new-potentially-catastrophic-wiring-issues-found-in-boeing-737-max/
Even as recently as yesterday, there was an article talking about "new software fixes" preventing the 737MAX flight control software from firing up, as well as the related impact of the prolonged grounding upon related suppliers:
https://moneymaven.io/mishtalk/economics/737-max-fix-causes-entire-computer-system-to-crash-ytUsOcPkoE64ZsQi3msYVw
But today, Boeing do it yet again:
https://sputniknews.com/business/202001211078097247-boeing-expects-trouble-737-max-to-return-to-flight-during-mid-2020/
Though the stock market may not be readily believing:
https://www.investors.com/news/boeing-stock-slips-737-max-rival-airbus-a320-sees-unprecedented-demand/
Investor or political pressure ? Prevent bleed of orders to Airbus ? Just slow learners (or fools) ?
[Edit]
In the last article above, there was mention of Boeing approaching banks in order to secure a loan of $10 billion. Which is interesting in light of the following:
https://wolfstreet.com/2020/01/20/after-blowing-43-bn-on-share-buybacks-in-6-years-boeing-scrambles-to-borrow-10-bn-on-top-of-the-9-5-bn-credit-line-it-got-in-oct-to-fund-the-surging-costs-of-its-737-max-fiasco/

It's even been said Boris may have had visions in the past:

[Quote] A well-known speech by Comrade General Chi Haotian, Vice-Chairman Of China’s Military Commission, December, 2005 gives the world insight into the truth. Here are some excerpts to prove that the Chinese openly discussed using biological warfare not only against the US, but on their own people.[Unquote]
[Quote] Hal Turner Remarks: It is interesting that here we are, fifteen years later, and China is suffering what has been determined to be the release of a Bio-weapon from its Level-4 Bio-Research Laboratory in Wuhan.
Did they intend to use this on us?
With Shanghai and Beijing both going to FULL MARTIAL LAW today, February 13, is it possible they are still actually preparing to use it against us? Infecting their own people as a prelude to massive INTENTIONAL release inside the USA? Call it "an outbreak?" Make it LOOK like an accident?
There may be much more going on with this "Coronavirus" outbreak, than meets the eye. Stay vigilant. [Unquote]

The United States Is in Syria Illegally as a Proxy for Israel and Saudi Arabia:- http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/53012.htm - Interesting - or not? - :corn:
[quote] Professor John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago and Stephen Walt, academic dean at Harvard University ‘s Kennedy School of Government, describe WINEP as “part of the core” of the Israel Lobby in the U.S.
They examined the group on pages 175-6 in their groundbreaking book The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy and concluded as follows:
“Although WINEP plays down its links to Israel and claims that it provides a ‘balanced and realistic’ perspective on Middle East issues, this is not the case. In fact, WINEP is funded and run by individuals who are deeply committed to advancing Israel’s agenda … Many of its personnel are genuine scholars or experienced former officials, but they are hardly neutral observers on most Middle East issues and there is little diversity of views within WINEP’s ranks.”
In early 2018 Jeffrey co-authored a WINEP special report on Syria which urged “…the Trump administration [to] couple a no-fly/no-drive zone and a small residual ground presence in the northeast with intensified sanctions against the Assad regime’s Iranian patron.
In doing so, Washington can support local efforts to stabilize the area, encourage Gulf partners to ‘put skin in the game, drive a wedge between Moscow and Tehran, and help Israel avoid all-out war.”
Note the focus on Iran and Russia as threats and the referral to Assad and his government as a “regime.” And the U.S. presence is to “help Israel.” So we have Ambassador James Jeffrey leading the charge on Syria, from an Israeli perspective that is no doubt compatible with the White House view, which explains why he has become Special Representative for Syria Engagement. Politicians and their need to grab a headline... I'd have thought it might have been better just to get on with the work and not say too much. Defence matters should not necessarily all be immediately communicated to the world. That this report is from Sputnik, a Russian owned news organisation, makes it just a little more ironic.

Don, I really thought that this was going to be "your year". You know, MAGA ("make another gratuitous award"), or in your case, to receive one. That would have kept Obama and the Dems quiet for a while.
It's not as if you didn't make an effort.
Trying to establish friendly relations with Russia, and then having the political establishment start up that Mueller enquiry (and threaten to impeach you, no less).
All that efforts spent in trying to bring the troops back home from Syria and Afghanistan, only to have the MIC overrule you again. Wasted.
But I guess that when they threaten to drive their tanks down the middle of your golf fairways, well, every man has his breaking point and has to know when to give in.
Mind you, you didn't do yourself any favours, either. Going over to Europe and trying to shake down all the NATO members to increase their military expenditure. That wasn't such a sharp move. It would have been much better to leave that to Mike P (not only because of his CIA links, but it would have also allowed you some plausible deniability). Doing it yourself - well, now it has all your little fingerprints all over it.
Look, if all else fails, quietly threaten to impose sanctions on the Nobel Prize Committee members. Seems to work elsewhere around the world.

Well they shat their pants when told the Gurkhas were on their way so I guess there was a reason.
Many years later, after Argentina's surrender to Britain in the 1982 Falklands War, Argentine troops told reporters that rumors of the Gurkhas slitting the throats of 40 Argentine soldiers in single strokes and of Gurkhas jumping into enemy foxholes with live grenades gave them the jitters and seriously shattered their morale.

Politicians and their need to grab a headline... I'd have thought it might have been better just to get on with the work and not say too much. Defence matters should not necessarily all be immediately communicated to the world. That this report is from Sputnik, a Russian owned news organisation, makes it just a little more ironic.
During the Falklands War Thatcher announced that there were SAS on the ground in Argentina. If there were, I'm sure they'd have appreciated their PM telling the world, and the Argentinians in particular, that they were there.
They knew they were there at least for a while as they tracked them on radar
the Argies claimed to have shelled an invisible UK submarine and shot at a helicopter over the Mainland.
None of which happened.
Operation Plum Duff.
The mission that didn't quite go as planned but it had have diverted a lot of resources. AS i am sure they hunted for the invisible SAS
It also turned out it was easier to get the French to turn off the exocet's guidance with the US's helpanyway.
Mikado was a pretty bold plan, real comic book stuff. it would have been practically a suicide mission.
they had no proper maps one was decribed as being torn out of an atlas an the other a WW2 survey map stolen form a University.

Or - I think this line is most telling:
"Classics is a broad foundational subject that introduces students to the history of Western civilisation. It touches on art, literature, philosophy, religion and we just don't understand why the subject which is probably the very definition of the foundations of Western literature and Western education would be chopped."
If you add in Science as well, removing those is undermining the West itself.

Yeah, but almost everyone only gives a fuck about what is relevant to them innit, so nothing really new there. It is what keeps us divided. The perfect panopticon. Society policing society using nothing more than mob opinion as evidence and weight of lobby numbers directing policy (coz we're "all" relevant to "me" fiends). In relation to 1080, nature wasn't overrun by predators before humans arrived. In a similar vein, forest was diverse before humans arrived. Yet here we are, nature supposedly being overrun by pests, forestry mono-culture, and all of us competing for a portion of financial the greater pie with which to get what's relevant fixed. They care. It's just that everything else isn't high on their priority list... like human beings and sustainability ha ha ha haaaaaaaa...

Or that time you claimed there was numerous alternatives to 1080 on the vast inaccessible areas of NZ and then couldn't name one.

Certainly clearly for WTC7. The least impacted of all the buildings.

Near and virtually are not words that describe a definite scenario now are they.
Example if you nearly scored a try does that get points awarded on the scoreboard.
there was 6 points on WTC
Come back with some comments when it they actually fall at free fall speed, or the WTC towers actually collapse into their own footprints.
The Twin Towers collapse was about ⅔ (two-thirds) of free-fall. And the core collapsed at about 40% of free-fall speed.
Three buildings fell in a perfect implosion into their own footprint - in a manner that demolition experts would dream to be able to replicate..

the fact that Building 7 fell at freefall speed
can bring an entire building down uniformly at freefall speed?
Building 7 fell at freefall speed
could bring a building down uniformly at freefall speed?
Yet it collapsed uniformly at freefall speed .

With Covid spreading across the European bloc, it has been interesting to see how different countries have chosen to handle the challenge. With the impact on national economies, there was earlier call for a multi-lateral approach.
https://www.ineteconomics.org/perspectives/blog/europe-and-the-need-for-multilateralism
But I see it was announced overnight that the EU now has "a plan" (for how to assist some of its members whose economies are in distress), but that they are still struggling with one small component (how to fund it).
https://www.france24.com/en/20200423-too-little-too-late-europe-urged-to-act-on-economy-as-us-jobless-toll-soars
https://www.dw.com/en/coronavirus-latest-eu-leaders-want-large-recovery-fund-stall-on-details/a-53213299
You'd think this wouldn't be an issue after earlier (rousing) speeches about "European unity" , and the repeated politicians chorus that "we're all in the same boat together".
Perhaps it depends upon which end of the boat ? When the Italians say "the boat is leaking water, and we're getting wet feet" while the Germans and Dutch say "we're already leaking money, and we're getting cold feet".
Perhaps they will have to wait until the water starts to reach the EU economic "engine room" as well, and the whole boat then settles on an "even keel" (then they can all sink together, but do so in unity).
The puzzling part is that there was never this much trouble when the US was stumping around Europe late last year, requesting NATO donations to "help keep everyone secure".
https://www.rt.com/op-ed/475871-nato-values-esper-pentagon-spending/
Surely it's just a question of political priorities. And the "right packaging and marketing".
Maybe the EU just needs some-one to help them prioritise. And to apply the right spin. Like the US.
I mean, they don't have any issue with their political priorities. And spinning like a top.
And they're flush with cash, from what I can see:

With Covid spreading across the European bloc, it has been interesting to see how different countries have chosen to handle the challenge. With the impact on national economies, there was earlier call for a multi-lateral approach.
https://www.ineteconomics.org/perspectives/blog/europe-and-the-need-for-multilateralism
But I see it was announced overnight that the EU now has "a plan" (for how to assist some of its members whose economies are in distress), but that they are still struggling with one small component (how to fund it).
https://www.france24.com/en/20200423-too-little-too-late-europe-urged-to-act-on-economy-as-us-jobless-toll-soars
https://www.dw.com/en/coronavirus-latest-eu-leaders-want-large-recovery-fund-stall-on-details/a-53213299
They all struggle with how to fund it for a reason. They still believe that such "packages" need to be repaid. For some reason it's really really hard to inject money into an economy, just coz it's needed. It's like it breaks some immutable rule.

August 6th again tomorrow, and this time the 75th anniversary of the first atomic bombing in Japan.
It's quite sobering to visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki, particularly Hiroshima with its "Dome" and the Peace Memorial Museum. Especially recognising that despite the damage inflicted, it is estimated that only 1 kg of its 64 kg of enriched uranium used in the bomb actually went fissile.
Journalist John Pilger has provided a summary of some of the history relating to nuclear weapons, and giving recognition to another distinguished Australian investigative journalist Wilfred Burchett (who smuggled himself past US military lines and conducted his own investigation and reporting on the Hiroshima after-effects following the bombing, much to the annoyance of the US military):
https://www.counterpunch.org/2020/08/04/another-hiroshima-is-coming-unless-we-stop-it-now/
It's a pity that Pilger's article did not also mention the US intention to cause widespread nuclear devastation across Russian cities in the period 1946-1949 (this intention only set aside due to the USSR gaining its own nuclear weapon in 1949):
https://southfront.org/wipe-soviet-union-off-map-204-atomic-bombs-major-cities-us-nuclear-attack-ussr-planned-world-war-ii/
The US has contemplated the development of low yield (tactical) nuclear weapons from time to time. Since the Russians developed hypersonic missile capability more recently, the US has again stepped up its intention to develop and deploy low yield nuclear weapons, apparently somehow confident that to such missiles would not lead to a all-out nuclear war:
https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2020/03/03/the-myth-of-moderate-nuclear-war/
It's not as if they don't already know the scale of devastation likely to be caused, and the impact upon both the environment and human populations around the world:
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/shocking-video-simulation-shows-devastation-nuclear-war-would-cause
Even a modest nuclear war between two small powers (e.g. India and Pakistan) would be sufficient to cause world-wide famine:
https://www.rt.com/news/483282-india-pakistan-nuclear-winter/
Looking at what masquerades as "sound government" within the US at the moment, I can't help but feel pessimistic for the future of my own children.

You do realise biological testing is never going to be 100% which is why they make the cut off at a level where they achieve false positives.
This is done on purpose to having the cut off at a point where you achieve to many false negatives.
maybe instead of posting false information on the net, you should google biological tests and sensitivity vs specificity.

Will try find link but what was wrong and still is wrong is the company and the plane.
Firstly the plane is a pigs ear design wise with weight of engines in wrong place cresting a balance problem to start with.
Moving the engine so has stressed the airframe which is why the lion air plane broke up BEFORE it hit the ground.
To reduce training costs software for the control systems is designed the the pilot inputs try and make the plane behave like the old plane. This software was outsourced to India and had to be redone several times.
The max is essentially a new airplane but it keeps enough features and elements of the original 1960s design that it didn’t need as extensive testing and certification.
Boeing went woke and hired based on diversity and well not much needs to be said about that...
DO NOT EVER get on one of these planes they will continue to be death traps.

I've been following this whole debacle since it first started with the two crashes, and have read (collected) a reasonable amount of information on the situation - much of which you point to above. Have also been discussing with a pilot friend who was likewise interested in the outcome.
The FAA (as the US certifying authority) was seemingly compromised almost as much by this issue, given their track record in past years. I have not seen much comment on its (improved) performance since its head was replaced.
The main point of the original post was to see exactly what Boeing was willing to "fess up to" in the media, as being the primary cause(s) of the crashes.
The last article I saw on required "design" changes was as follows:
https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2020/08/03/faa-proposes-requiring-four-key-boeing-737-max-design-changes/
I have seen little in the way of recent articles on settlement of litigation (brought by families of passengers killed), so assumed Boeing would say as little as possible to avoid having to pay further reparation.

Ok. So were the noises on the street are to be believed (lots of respected medical professionals with decades of research/experience in immunology and various fields), no live virus culture has ever existed outside of China. Anywhere. In the world. Despite so many having been tested for it, caught it and/or having died from it. The live culture does not exist. And yet, not only do we have several vaccines, the virus has somehow noticeably mutated even though a live culture doesn't actually exist in any lab anywhere in the world. The MHRA (UK), when asked by Frances Leader recently, acknowledged this by stating that labs only have computer models of the virus to go on. Hence the chosen direction for most vaccines to date I assume.
The levels of stupid, given that we have gotten this far, is astounding... and the fevered argument over mask wearing demonstrate exactly how such levels of stupid are allowed to continue. In an online discussion I bemoaned Reagan's repealing of the fairness doctine and suggested things might be better if it was reinstated. One person replied that the fairness doctrine covered radio and television broadcasting as it was then. Cable TV stations, FOX etc, are not subject to the same rules as those using the airwaves. So even if the fairness doctrine was reintroduced, it would need to be expanded to cover the worst sources of misinformation.
