Had great trip to Taupo on Saturday, the Honda Development Day went well, very good organisation. Weather much better than HB, for a change. Aaron Slight & Haydon Fitzgerald on hand to pass on their knowledge. Put in around 45 laps, seemed very tight circuit at first, but got quicker as got to know the corners. Still lots more to learn about track riding though.Looking forward to the next one. Great trip home, as was very wet till the plains going up.The Viffer certainly sucked thru the fuel on the track.

Hey guys.
Just a quick thanks to Scott for the excellent ride today. Welly and back for the first time for me. Was a good ride, no whoopsy moments, no silly buggers (apart from that guy on the Spada and his mate on the GS). The weather wasn't too flash but nothing to really complain too much about.
Cheers for the gas too, it's much appreciated.
And another. We have all talked about an HBKB Chrissy get together, so what's happening, if anything? Who's gunna offer up their place for a night of food and good times? Mum/dad...this does include you, I can't really offer 'my house' because I don't make the rules.

Fire?
Hawkes Bay?
Summertime?
I think not...we are in the grip of a restricted fire season (permits necessary), if we don't get a decent amount of rain soon, we will have a total fire ban!

All quiet here cos we are all working. Oooops sorry most of us are working. I note da Dog and Lee have been making carbon foot prints all over the East coast. :woohoo:
I sneaked a sit on an SV 1000s today. Might take one for a ride soon. Might have to change my name on here if it rides as well as it looks and feels in the shop. I might have to get another job to keep tyres on it. But nothing firm yet. Still love the Gixxer but the twin is calling. I can hear it. :mobile:

Well what a weekend of riding I have had :2thumbsup
Friday HXC and I did a day trip to Wellington - 680km :niceone:
We were on the road at 5am and I didn't go to bed until 2am the next morning :devil2:
Saturday I did a 350km loop down the coast to Porangahau and Dannevirke with our visitors from Germany and France
Today - 100km loop to Tutira and back Darkys Spur :2thumbsup
Not to mention the multinational dinners over the past 3 days
We had Anja and Holger from Germany stay with us on there round the world trip on motorcycles.
And then Christian from France arrived on Friday night with his motorcycle, and then we have 2 Norwegians here with us too
We had MSTRS and YT and HXC around for a few dinners and to say hello and thanks to MSTRS for repairing their panniers :2thumbsup
Cheers

Yeh, it has been a rather motorcycle-filled weekend for me too.
Nowhere near as much as you, Scott, but it's still a shitload more than I have done in eons. It was a wicked trip to Wellington on Friday. And Waimarama for ice cream yesterday was superb. A couple of dodgy corners due to melted tar and loose chip, but other than that, it was a primo ride.
If only I had the money to do even more. Wonder if I can click over another 500k's before the 28th. That'd take the clock up to 20,000ks before our big road trip.

I always have up to 40 litres of petrol here at any time for use for the various vehicles and bikes here and if anyone is low passing thru.
Think I've mentioned it before if anyone is low pop in for a top up.

Some of the best sets of corners in New Zealand -- and no traffic! Large chunks of this had just been resealed when we were through there in October, so I couldn't cane it as much as I would have liked. The stretch from Te Araroa to Te Kaha isn't too shabby either!

The trip was a blast. We traveled 972kms in the two days. Doing 511kms on the first day. we would be on the road for 8 hours as we had plenty on stops and sampled some of the nice food.
We stayed at Hicks Bay Motel Lodge and was quite good. They put on dinner from 6.00pm. Rember you pay Hicks Bay prices so dont buy too many beers.

Cheers

The trip was a blast. We traveled 972kms in the two days. Doing 511kms on the first day. we would be on the road for 8 hours as we had plenty on stops and sampled some of the nice food.
We stayed at Hicks Bay Motel Lodge and was quite good. They put on dinner from 6.00pm. Rember you pay Hicks Bay prices so dont buy too many beers.
Now where to next Lee?

Whooo Whoooo. What a great day it was in Wanganui. We had a great trip. Good company. We left with 6 bikes from the Mobil. Wasp27, Morepower and I joined 3 others and headed to Wanganui with expectations of rain. We got 1 minutes rain after Dannevirke. Other than that it was dry and clear. Met up with Grumpy in Fielding and continued on via Martin.
The day was dry and warm at the track. The riding was spectacular and we have some great riders here in Kiwi land. Go the K/bers. Met up with Cola and Chicky. She is looking really good and I think Auckland is good for her.... or is it Dan. Great to see you Cola. Somthin about men hugging in public...:pinch:..
Wasp and I left after the second to last race. Got our bikes out of the secure park and headed for home. Clean dry roads but hundreds of bikes. We elected to go via the main road. Cops for Africa but we got away with out any tax. Watched the weather as we came along to the turn to High way fifty and decided to go the S/H 2 cos it looked dryer. Good choice I would say we got to Napier dry. Wasp was home free but I got caught in the hail and very heavy rain from Bay View to home yuck but what a great day.
Nice to see you at the track Rob and family.
Time for  then up to Taupo tomorrow to see Meekey_Mouse and Speights_bud qualify for Friday. Hope the RG goes well. Got Pat and Jass ........

You luffed the hugs! I have to get a T shirt I saw for you! I am making enquiries....
Great day for me too. The wind from Foxton was a bit tricky (both ways) and the rain from Raumati sucked the big banana. Apart from that the racing was spectacular! The thrills spills and more thrills were great. Saw heaps of peeps from all over the country - had them yelling at me from across the track even... wouldn't have been surprised if the announcer paged me! Infamous or famous? Hmm neither methinks - just loud and hugging!
Anyway twas a fantabulous day. Great company all day and Sticky was a fine pillion (delivered home safe and sound)
Cheers all (as I down the first bourbon of the day) Colapop
P.S. Go the _Bud and the _Mouse

What a fantastic day......can't think of a more pleasant way to set fire to 40 odd litres of 91 octane parts wash. The ride down with Dave and his crew was awesome (Sorry cant remember all your names...but thanks for going slow enough that I could keep up) Hope you had as good a ride home as G4E and I had... Grumpy. Just got to close the garage door when the Rain Squall hit home...timing's everything...eh big guy... thanks for yesterday:msn-wink: I was really impressed with the racing...... especially Toby Summers on his YZF Motard and the always impressive Craig Shirriffs....just so smooth and so damn quick. Bet there was a lot pissed off they didn't go cause of the weather forecast. Big ups to the organisers:2thumbsup Very well run event. Thanks again everyone....I had a great day..Cheers W

Just got back from Taupo. The old RG stayed in one piece and ran well for the day. Fingers crossed it stays running tomorrow.
Speights_bud had a ball. We were both excited to see the RG running so well. Just got better as the day went on. Qualified 3rd. Bring on tomorrow. Meeky_mouse rode well but got closed down by some of the buckets on the track and could not shake free to get a clear track. You rode well Meekey but with all that traffic you just can't get free. Better luck tomorrow. Team Cudby had a good day and StickChicks pink bits is running well. Not sure how Mike went but looked good from where I was sitting.
Sun burnt and all, but that's two days at the track. One to go. Bring on tomorrow.

Hi Al. Cage for me today. If you ride up watch for the tax man. So close to paying it yesterday. Lots of them and the Camera van.
There will be a gate fee today. We are all use to open gate no pay but there is a fee today.
We will be leaving 8-8.30 ish.
They will only get two maybe three races today. So lots of sitting around and looking at other bikes. Cheers

Report from Taupo.
The weather was good. A brief shower or two but the track was dry 90% of the day.
Speights_Bud had a blinder and can be well pleased with his day. The old RG hung in there and carried him to anover all 2nd place in the Street stock class. Second to our very own Team Cudby. Our adopted daughter Meekey_mouse had a good day and improved in leaps and bounds in the last two races. Nice to see you got out of the traffic and really showed some good pace.
Speights_bud.
Race 1 2nd
Race 2 1st
Race 3 2nd
Team Cudby
Race 1 1st
Race 2 2nd
Race 3 1st
Giving Team Cudby an over all win and Speights Bud a second in class for the day. Nice to see the Hawkes Bay teams doing so well.
Big thanks to Gary and Anna for their full support at the track and off the track. You guys rock. Your spannering is great Gary and you kept the bike going on song all day. Thanks for the wheels you two.
To Wasp27 and Mrs Wasp27....... Thanks so much for all the tech help. I have never learnt so much in one day. Your knowledge of things mechanical are outstanding W. Thanks for sharing it with our fledgling team. The sort of information you are giving us will keep the bike on the track for Pat to weave his magic. To Lance......... Mate thanks for all the help and advice. As you have been on the track for a few years and know two strokes so well you have given us a lot of information and tips that are hard learnt. Your skills are fantastic and thanks for sharing them with us.
So nice to see RobertyDog and family, at the track and share some, off track sparring. I don't think I will ever get your boy to wear a GSX-R hat. Will I ? Again so much race knowledge to pass on. Thanks man. Not your fault you ride Yamahahahahaha
To Five Star.... Thanks for your sponsorship. You have built a very strong engine for us and it is proving to be a winner. Your support is much appreciated. :2thumbsup I will make up a photo board and put it in the shop for all to see in the next week.
And finally to Pat Doohan ( Speight_Bud) You rode the wheels off the little bike today and had a great result. :chase: Your skills and determination pushed the RG to it's limits and you came away with a great result. A second in your first outing with this bike is no mean feat. You have done well and deserve a pat on the back.
To Mary Moo and Martin..... love da Muffins Hun and Martin thanks for the fetch and carry. It can be a pain at the track but you filled the day well.
Mr and Mrs Meekey_Mouse and Meekey_Mouse........ you are the bomb. Thanks for the time you have given Speights_Bud, food, bed wheels, transport, oil and did I mention oil and.......... and it goes on and on. I think he owes you big time.... So do we.. . Thanks You Guys
I could carry on and on but lets just say a 10/10 day............

That was an event in it's self. It was the "Taupo Road race Spectacular" It stood as a marker in the ground for us to get the bike finished. Pat finished the run in two days before we hit the track. So we had some time to spare........... .........
We are looking at the Winter series this year and it should start in March. Manfield or Taupo once a month. Should give us time to keep the little bike up to speed. We are going to have a challenge to keep it at the pointy end of the races with Team Kudby and some of the other teams entered. Lets say we learnt a heap yesterday and not just about spannering. :eek5: Could be a fun winter.
Hope to do some track days in the next month or two and get some tuning done on this bike. Learn about tyres and fuel mixes etc.
Best I get to work. Thats going to be a novelty.
Mind the tax men on the Taupo road today Rob. There are plenty. :bash:

Our HB group seems to have got smaller. Anyone got any plans, ideas for anything in the future in regards to rides like were doing in the arvos etc?
Anyone interested in going for a ride next week or so during the week, I'm still on holiday then.
Went to the drags at Taupo today, first time been to the track.
Lots of bikes there parked. Lots of drag bikes, including that bloke who took his bike to the salt flats recently.
And a a guy with a Suzki drag bike with NOS, with the engine stretched out to over 1900cc!

I recon the rides will pick up again, at some stage, but I find I have so much on at the moment and the cost of fuel on top of our ever growing fuel bill is putting me off. Cos we live rural, as you do, everything cost in fuel. Still getting a lot of K's done but not with our local group. Hope we can revive them later in January.

Dan is a very patient teacher and I'm quite lucky I have found someone that is willing to help a newbie like me . I haven't replaced you guys though!
Hope this year is a good year for you all and look forward to catchin up with you guys very very soon.:niceone:
Happy New Year to you and Dan also....good to hear your back in/on da saddle. Shit, I'd be crapping myself riding up there with those crazy bastards....you just be very careful:dodge: Cheers for now, W & D

The forecast for this weekend is looking mint. All that is needed to fuck that up is for the Hitchers to make firm plans to come to the Bay...

Went to the track day yesterday at Manfield. What a blast it was. There was aroung 130 bikes in 4 classes. Heaps of race guys there Sherriffs, Bernard Racing etc.
Was only $40.00 for the day, aso was well worth it. Hooked up with the Palmy, Welley Guys and Gals and had some good laughs.
They having another on on the 2nd March, so the price is right.
