Very little to report Steve, we marshalled at the race meeting and got a chance to "play" at lunchtime. I took the mighty Spada out for two laps. It was breakneck speed, I tell ya! (Well I was so slow I was in danger of falling off!!) I found the lack of a centreline very disconcerting, but at least John will stop hassling me about going on the track now eh?

Apologies for not logging on for so long. How've y'all been?

Changing nappies mostly. And getting my head around this teaching thing I've taken up lately. Both of which have been cutting into my spare time. Still, school holiday coming up, and I'm planning to spend it in a sort of psychotic biking frenzy. In between nappy changes of course :-)

I've been talking with Fivestar recently,
Fivestar are willing to give us some good deals on items the team wishes to purchase from them, Which is a help, however they have pulled the plug on the main sponsorship offers they had made, and are no longer able to do anything for us that will cost them $$. after Two months of beating around the bush i've finally found out what they can/can't commit to to help DOOHAN racing out.
This means i've been unable to get onto the Suzuki Trackday as it was left too late, and i've committed the weekend to wellington.
The 'Fivestar' stickers will Remain on the Bike at present, But will be removed for any such persons/company who wish to 'purchase'/sponsor themselves onto the fairings. (Open to offers of course......)
All in all an ok Turnout, DOOHAN racing will still receive Good prices from FiveStar and will still be running the RG throughout the VMCC Winter series :)

I think it is fair to say Team “Doohan Racing” is happy to run the bike with the sponsors and supporters we have for the winter season. The aim is to get a race season done and see how it all goes. If we survive the winter season we can look at next year then. If we can move up a class I am sure we will. Then we might need more $$ help. We have Speights_Bud riding for us this winter but who knows what will happen after that.
He might get a better ride next year and we could end up with no rider. After your great result in Taupo you have proved your worth Patrick. We could pick up a young rider and do it again with the RG next year. Who knows. Might not have a bike after the season, or the first race for that matter.
One day at a time but we are secure for the winter season at this stage. So looking forward to the start of the competition. Great to have something to look forward to.
How is your team going BigG? You were going to help a Nephew? So looking forward to the days at the track. :woohoo:

Went to that thing at Anderson park today. Met up with the Palmy and HB Triumph group at Breakers thi morning for brekky then headed down to the display.
Quite a few bikes, must of been over 100.
Seemed to be mainly Triumphs/Harleys and cruisers, not as many Jap stuff as I would of thought.
They were having a mass ride/drive thru Napier then out the back a bit led by a bike cop, so all legal speeds.
Our Triumph group decided it was too hot and we needed a beer so went to the Puketap well before the ride left, and waited for them to come past, which when they did, half of the bikers got a sudden thirst and stopped, so the place was over flowing with bikes......was awesome.
The amount of Harley riders wearing bogus German helmets nowdays is just so.........70s!!!
Not even chromed like the old days!

The Tiko pub is an accommodation venue for Tongan fruit pickers now.
I see them all hanging off the balconey when I go for blats down that way.
Plus the guy you saw on the Ducati was probably my neighbour who broke down there on Sunday and spent time with them waiting for a trailer to arrive.
They fed him and wanted to load him up with kava!
Its a good road for a ride around there.

His bike is always breaking down.
Always electrical, and stuff that has been problematic for a while. He had problems before he went on the ride and thought it was fixed, yet again.
He said 28 Tongans live in the Tiko pub!

If its Saturday I'll be a bit worn from the ride over from Masterton that morning but will make it unless the weather craps out. I'll see if any of the Manawatu crowd wants to join me, and a couple of friends from Masterton if they are crazy enough.
Will you be on your Katana 400?

It is commonly known amongst bikers that Cages are a great threat to us every time we ride, and i believe that its not good enough,
SO....
As of Tomorrow Night (Sat 12th) My mission is to destroy as many cages as possible in the Demolition Derby at the Meeanee Speedway.
My Boss has given me the old work car (Toyota Corona) and i've spent the last 2 weeks Tearing it apart and putting in the 5-point Harness etc.
My Car is White, with Black Numbers "22" and a large "we-Can" Precision Engineering sticker on the Bonnet.
Racing starts at 6pm and i believe and there is a gate entry cost.
The demolition Derby is the Final Event for the night so there's no worries of turning up too late!

Bloody madness. :shit: How can you put 58 cars on the track that small and expect anyone to have fun? But it was great to see Speights_Bud hit the wall in front of us and then head off down the wall in reverse. I never knew a car could go that fast in reverse. So did you complete one lap? I think da little Toyota smashed a CV joint and that ended the ride with it pushed hard up against the wall with a heap of other cars around it. She still started and ran but with no drive, that’s where it stayed. I would hazarded a guess that it put up one of the biggest clouds of steam for the night. :done:
Edit: Clutch couldn't do it any more as it turns out.

I Certainly did, was just short of finishing my third Lap when the clutch Finally Gave Up on me, an older style spring clutch would have been the go, the Hydraulic clutch spat the dummy.

Had this sent to me by a good mate.
"LABOUR PROPOSE TO BAN THE USE OR POSESSION IN A MOTOR VEHICLE OF ALL EQUIPMENT TO DETECT, OR INTERFERE WITH THE OPERATION OF SPEED MEASURING EQUIPMENT!!...... HAS IT HIT A BLACK HOLE?
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
On the 21st of December 2007 the Labour party announced by a press release what they claim are several new road safety initiatives.
THE OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS (which we have obtained under the official information act) WERE RELEASED FEBRUARY 2008. These proposals need first to go to the LTSA for drafting and then to a select committee for review. The select committee call for public submissions and read all relevant material in relation to all the proposals. The select committee then advise parliament of their findings. If the Government believe they have the support of the MMP parties they then hold a vote in parliament on the proposed changes.
WHAT WE ARE DOING
Radar Direct is preparing relevant information for the select committee on the positive attributes of owning and using a radar detector, including international studies to support this.
In 2007 Radar Direct had been speaking to interested parties about Safety Warning Systems (SWS). SWS gives moving vehicles or stationary zones the ability to transmit a signal to radar detectors to alert them to a potential hazard. Imagine being able to know that an ambulance is approaching 1km away, or being told you are approaching a rural school bus or school zone.
As radar owners we know that one "beep" makes us check our speed. Radar Direct will continue to introduce SWS into NZ. Make a positive step and turn ON this valuable safety feature. The next SWS installation will be on the Pakuranga Highway outside the Saint Kentigern College. This SWS tranmitter will say ³SCHOOL ZONE AHEAD².
WHAT WE KNOW
• Any public or select committee hearings on Radar Detectors may not be heard until 2009. (well after the election)
• Rumour about laws coming into effect April 1st are incorrect. No date as been set and there is a process that has to be followed.
• Cabinet agreed THAT THERE WOULD BE A 2 YEAR LEAD IN PERIOD BEFORE THE PROPOSALS BECOME LAW assuming that it becomes law.
• A ban on the sale of radar detectors is not possible under current legislation because the products in themselves are not dangerous.
• Police will not be given the power to search vehicles for equipment to detect or interfere with speed measuring devices because it would breech The Bill of Rights.
• The actual proposal is to ban the use or possession, “in a motor vehicle”, of “all equipment” to detect or interfere with the operation of speed measuring devices. This would also ban all GPS car navigation products from Navman, Garmin, Tom Tom and Uniden as they also detect non radar based speed measuring devices.
• At present discussion we have had with other Political parties indicates there is little to no cross party support for these proposal.
You have a right to know when you are been listened to by electronic surveillance. Radar is listening for you. If you feel that your property rights of ownership are been abused by these proposals then you know what to do.
There are already Safety Warning System transmitters operational in New Zealand. Soon more will appear in School Zones and on Trucks being use in road reconstruction.
Radar Detectors are a huge benefit to road safety and have contributed to the lowest road toll in 40 years!"
You all know how I feel about them.

Sure will. From one stressful situation to another. Hungry cows get cold and sick. Then die. The situation could be worse now than it was when it was hot and dry. I have experienced that very thing. Nature is a bitch. Thinking of them all.

Now I just got to find some front forks and a front wheel and we could be smoking it on the track . Might take a bit to get it on the road to make it legal but with some minor touch ups it could be used for track days.:doctor:

Just me riding by my lonesome then :weep:
Still, 'twas a good ride out to Tikokino. You fullus would've just slowed me down anyhoo :bleh:
Its always a good ride to Tiko, even better as its right on my door step as such.
Was going to ride yesterday, but a job round here turned into a major so the day was history.
Nevermind, am riding today on our monthly Triumph ride today, all makes welcome of course.
Think we're heading south today, leaving Breakers Napier 10am.

Unfortunately my Sunday was spent hunting for a house. Still, plenty of weekend rides still to come eh?
Man I love the Wairoa racetrack......oops I mean road:lol:
8 of us went for a blast just past Wairoa to some rundown dump of a bar/cafe just past Frasertown.
Came back to cafe 287 by the river for lunch.
6 Triumphs, SV1000 and a KTM Superduke.
First time I've seen a Superduke, the guy could ride, left us all for dead.
He pulled a wheelie the length of the straight past the Tutira dairy.:niceone:
Neat bike, that is if things did'nt keep falling off it. Had to stop twice for things dropping off, including a bolt from the gear shift linkage!
Good fast pace, I took the 600, and kept up with them all no probs.
No wonder some folk rave about 600s, they are lots of fun as long as you keep it in the rev buzz zone. The new Metzelers hung on wicked.
Saw a few bacon, we past one hidden doing about 140, dunno why he never tried to get us.
Maybe we were going too fast for him to get a u-turn in front of us.
The Wairoa rd has to be the best biking rd in the bay.

Hey guys, anyone interested in helping out with this?
We could do a HB ride, so that all funds raised here stay here for the Lowe Walker helicopter.
We don't want to organise this, we have enough to do with organising stuff for Zac at the mo, but are prepared to help out if someone else would step in to do the bulk of it....good cause and all, we never know when one of us will need their services.

We will structure the ride in a way that it will be good for all riders. I hope all Hawkes Bay riders come along. I will try and drop in on W this weekend and have a chat to him about the ride and see if we can get him to bring the H/D out and be our lead rider. It has all the gear to warn people to stay behind and it is big enough to stop other riders passing. Even if the bike isn’t W is.:dodge:
We will need another bike to follow the lead bike and a tail sweep. I can do that end. So we have a ruff plan. See you all on Saturday for the planning meeting.

Whooo WHOoo what a day at the track. We took the RG to the Taupo track for a shake down today. A precursor to the VIC club winter series. We have not tested since the Taupo spectacular back in December. So it was all a bit hit and miss.
The bike started so that was a good start for the day. 4 laps in to the first session we saw Speights_Bud slow and then the left hand was lifted as he headed for the grass. Gary and I had a sinking feeling. What the F**() has gone wrong with that bike now? We talked about all the things it could be and we could not get to the bike as it was sitting at the entrance to pit lane. After the track was cleared Speights_Bud pushed it over to pit lane and we realised it was outa fuel. How embarrassing.
We did some measuring and calculating and filled the fuel for the second session. Off to the track again. We had wanted to hit the 1.59s for the bike today. Speights_Bud got down to the 1.58 in that session and the bike ran like a train. It was just on song and he road it like it was on rails. Well done that man. We had some tyre issues after that session. The front was good but the rear was way to hot with bits falling off and with in one session the new tyre looked second hand. So out with the pump and the gauge. Lots of talking and bull shit and we changed the tyre pressure.
Off for the third run of the day. I saw the times come down again and we are so pleased with the way the bike ran. The tyre problem seems to be resolved. All in all a great practice day. I think we can say we are as ready as any team can be for the race day.
Well done Speights_Bud and we look forward to next Sundays race day. Hope we get of the start line. Missed you today George. Hope you are well mate.

You have no idea how embarrassed I was when I found out what was wrong but I was very excited at the same time cos it was easy to fix. That’s what happens when a farmer puts the brain in gear with something he knows little about. Aye Rob.
I was just reading the Two Wheels mag I got for my birthday and found this quote. As you are looking for a new bike I recon it would suit you down to the ground mate.:lol:
“At the same time the GSX-R has maintained an image as a hard-core nutter’s bike,”
So you better get down to Five star and order your 08 750 Gixxer Rob.:jerry:

Not me sorry G. Got heaps on. I am beginning to miss the company of the rides.
Was nice to chat to Elvin last weekend. He spotted Mary Mooo and I going down Taradale road and did a catch up. Was good to chat Alvin. I wonder if we would have more luck with group rides if we did them every second weekend?

Just curious, did I miss something :chase:
I had a great ride on Saturday night :niceone:
Coming back from Palmerston North
It was cold, very wet but I loved every minute of it, then came the dark, really have to be on your game, because with the rain and oncoming lights it makes it rather hard to see :pinch:
I don't know what it is with rain but I love riding in it (for a while at least) :niceone:
So what is everyone else doing?
Cheers Scott
