Weather forecast suggests south.
Porangahau or Waimarama for lunch via Onga?
Then wherever after?
Who's in?
Meet at my road or house on HW50 at say, 11.30?
Edit: My house is on Tait Rd, 3kms past chook & Filly on right, 163.
For those that don't know.
Not sure I can make it either. See you there :sunny:

I'm the hard cunt today and no one wants to play?
Ok, will stand on my balconey as I can see the corner from there and if no one is there or turning into my road about 11.30, I'll go play with my lego.
Hopefully lots of riding next weekend, missus is away, so the boy has to play:msn-wink::D.

I'll ride by Stortford Lodge on the way. If you can make it there in 10-15mins you can follow me on out.

Bring your wets if you're heading this way but I think for at the moment at least you'll only get the odd scud of rain, can't comment on the coast though (Porangahau).

Definately gotta go......
Just been told a whole lotta horsey weirdos (IMO) are coming out to see our newborn foal.

Well...yes...but where's the fun (and character-building) in that? Besides 525 breaker/530 chain =
Ahh nothing like riding in the rain!
Well there is actually, heaps of things!!!
Schado and I went for a tootle, looked south, so much for good forecast.
Headed Middle Rd to Patangata, pissed down most of the way. But thats ok, only water, and gives you a chance to work on wet weather riding.
Had a munch at the pub, headed back via Ypawa, HW50, rain all the way cept to Tiko, then fine when got back here.
Had a bizarre experience on HW50, guy on a Harley waved to me, maybe he could see I was on a non Jappa?
Anyway it shocked me so much I did'nt wave back.
Will God forgive me?:no::spanking::niceone:
Oh Dale give our regards to your family, hope all goes better this week.

Hey George, I'm buying one of those this week, got 2 chains to do this week, and a few bikes I do at work coming up, so thought would add a tool into stock, if you want to wait.

Yep  that was a nice wee ride. Yep  that was a wet ride. But I enjoyed it. It's always hard giving up riding, but it sure did get bitter cold upon arriving back in Napier... even though right now the sun has come out for a quick teasing, and the fire is going for it.

Holy catfish Batman ! I just ruined a Conti Sport front in 1 and a half rears and that is not long! In my opinion those Contis are not that great , back to Pilots Road 2CT rear / Power 2 CT front .
Took me a long time to go over to Michelin but they seem the best alrounders to me.

Agree.
Thats all I have now.
Have Pilot Power 2CT on front/rear on the Daytona.
Pilot Road 2CT front/rear on Speed Triple.
Pilot Sport front, Pilot Road 2CT rear on Ducati.
Have had Pirelli Diablos on the Speedy but it felt awful.
Have also tried Metzeler Sportec M3 which was pretty good too, lots of grip but not longlevity.

All motorbikes are good mate. Just varies on how good, and personal taste.
If I was going to get a Jap bike the R1 would be top of the list.
Any riding going on tommorrow?
Got my Duc back together this week so may go out for a ride on it, as its been months since used.
Prob have a stop at the Classic Club in the arvo for a brew.

mmm, to be honest i'd rather they took him alive. family gets to have their say etc
Talking to a customer today who is a specialist in the ED dept at the hospital.
He was working on the shot people yesterday.
Said the civilian was actually there buying weed when it all went down, and took a bullet that blew his hip and a few bits to pieces. He said he does'nt expect the guy to walk for a long time and to be disabled for life.
The 2 cops took bullets that disintergrated inside them causing untold fragments everywhere. Not nice and very hard to sort surgically he said.

i did wonder how the 'civilian' involved managed to get close enough to the gunman and try wrestle the gun off him as a police representative(sp?) said on tv. i didn't think that anyone would run towards him from the street to lend a hand

Now G I am sure you don’t mean that.
As emotional and sad as the whole thing is an eye for an eye is the very reason the world has so many wars and problems. I know it is not cool to take this stance when such a terrible thing has happened but we must show constraint and prevent this type of event creating more anger and thus encouraging more revenge and hatred.
I know, I know, but life has taught me this.
Yea, Steve, but when a dog 'turns' you put it down. There's a lot to be said for that, too.
There's only ever wrongs in situations like this.

Good ride again today guys great arvo out
Finished up at Classic club where Id say they were gearing up for a big nite
All home safe and well
All I can say it was good company but the ride was not my cup of tea today, first I forgot me glasses and went wide on two corners nearly lost me front end on sum slippy stuff hit a bleeding big bump and got the wobbles nearly decided to hang me boots up. The big plus was the bike went well, for me it was one of those days when nearly everything goes wrong.
Good to see you today Steve and Alvin but never realy stoped anywhare to catch up with yous.
Some days it happens like that BigG, you never get in the groove and its average.
Good ride tho.
The usual nasty bit at the end of the Crownthorpe Rd.

I have days like that George. Not pleasant mate but reassured we all have them. I had my heart in my mouth when you disappeared over the top of the rise and drifted wide mate. That shingle was something else but you kept it upright and that’s all that matters. Don't hang em up mate cos we will never have a chance to catch up.
I would have liked to come along for a beer but as I was so close to home I decided to head home and get the fire on and stuff. Look forward to a ride sometime soon and sit around and catch up on what’s been happening. Nice to See you Alvin, George, Gary and Tony. Thanks for a good ride. I need to do it more often as I find my pace is well down on what it should be,….. or just maybe it is my age ....:oi-grr:… Aye SB? Hahahahaha
Cheers you lot and nice to ride with you all again.
Missed you Rob? :girlfight: You working mate? You could have brung your scoot………. ;)

We will be there. Our little RG is being ridden by Gary Pywell for the winter season. Assuming it last that long. He will be running number 44. His Dads number from his car racing days.
So good luck Gary . I will take the Van with the bike and gear. Should be a fine day by the look of it. We are not allowed to use wets …. How stupid is that but as long as we all play by the same rules it is good.
Sounds like its all sorted then S

Pretty well gives the smaller bikes a better chance now and evens up 600/1000 thingy, that the long straight is fucked, plus the new corners on the LH sweeper.

Done the track with T9 and T10. Back then everyone wanted to run the way it is currently. Now they want to go back to the old way just so they can keep up with a bigger bike. Was a good spot for getting photos thou. Putting a chicanne down the main straight is a good idea. Seen some big offs at the end of the straight. It will be fun anyway.

Wonder if Kiwitracdays will keep theirs the same, or change to the above one.
If they kept their same one, it would give you a good option of doing both track styles, which has to be interesting.

Hi, is the usual weekend ride on today at 1:30? i have never been but finally have a free weekend!!!!!!
The 'usual' ride which normally was at BP Taradale rd seems to have petered out over recent time.
Most normally just post up where we're going and a meeting place and we meet there.
But there is a ride leaving from Mobil Taradale Rd 1.00 today if keen.

Hi.
I will answer for him as he seldom comes on here. Only to spill the beans it would appear. Yes he is. It is still polished and cleaned to the max. I have a pleasure of riding it a while ago, it sure gets up and goes. He asked me to do a fly by so he could hear it on the road. The instructions said something about “ near the top end of the revs”. I don’t have to be asked twice……:msn-wink:……… it can fly for sure ……………. It is a very nice bike and is in good hands. If he bothers to come on here I am sure he will answer you himself cos he seems to be able to spill the beans on most things…:argue:…. :niceone:

good stuff!, currently waiting for my balaclava to arrive at fivestar (should be there tomorrow) it's getting cold in the mornings now! :cold:
me scoots tyre's don't actually have tread in the centre from new, so figuring out when they worn out is a bit iffy, it's getting near the wear indicators on the sides, not bad for 5,500km's!

So we start the last campaign for the RG for a while. Gary Pywell is going to run the RG for the winter season for us this year. Or till it stops going and ends it’s life.
Gary has ridden Road bikes for years but has been off them for the last 2 years. He has never ridden an RG150 or raced on the track in his life. So we had no expectations of what was going to happen other than we were going to enjoy the last winter at the track for while.
So the bike was made ready and a few engine bits and tyres were replaced for the winter season.
The alarm went off at the usual 5.20am to remind me to get up. The bacon and eggs and things got cooked and the food was loaded in to the van as we have done for 18 months now. No Mary Mooo or Martin as they had other things planned so Patrick and I headed to Taupo for round one of the Vic winter series. We arrived at 8.15am to find Gary had picked a place for us to pit. Eastern end of the pit sheds. Bike out of the old van and set up the pit. Fuel in and off to briefing. The day was cold but the weather looked like it should lift. The track was wet. We went back to the pit after rider briefing and got things sorted. All ready to go. We were last off the ranks today so had plenty of time to sort things for the day. Gary is riding in Patrick’s leathers etc so some time was used up sorting out what was needed. The count down began for us and the rain came in. The bike was started and run. Going well by the sound of it and out went Gary to ride a wet track on a bike he had never ridden before. A field of 25 or so bikes went out and started to mix it up for qualifying.
Gary looked very nervous and had a small moment in the wet but he came in all smiles but did comment on the state of the track. Lucky I had done some scrub in on the new tyre on the road a few weeks before the qualifying.
Gary qualified 4th. About 6.5 seconds off the pace of Russell Forrest. A very good start considering everything. We pulled the plug and noted a very lean engine. A bit scary because this is the very problem we had last time this bike was out and we have spent a bit of time trying to fix it. We made some changes and gave the bike a run up the car park and it seemed ok but it didn’t help the nerves of the rider or the team. I started the bike 10 minutes before the time call for us and found the kick starter return spring had let go and the starter kept dropping back on the ratchet. A quick chat and we decided to cable tie it forward. We really don’t need this now I thought.
Up went the call for street stock. Last race before the lunch break. A pat on the back and Gary was off. He was very nervous and had some butterflies but was keen to get on with it. All the bikes assembled on the dummy grid. We went to pit wall to watch and talk bull shit as usual but noted ambulances on the track. Two of em. I saw a bike appear in our pit tent and had a heart attack. Why was Gary back at the pits. I ran over hoping it was something we could fix. It’s ok he said we are after lunch. The recovery of the bikes and riders is going to take a while from the previous race. I felt the relief come over me. We put the bike on the stand and had a feed. Well some of us did. We watch the ambulance transfer a rider and we all felt grief for him/her. Hope they are ok. Gary’s nerves were getting the better of him and he needed to get on the track. Another rider briefing was held after lunch and then the call went up for us. Out again and round to the grid. We all stood along pit wall and gave Gary the thumbs up. No reply. The track was almost dry but not completely dry.
The 125s were gone. The 250s were mixed in with the 150 and out went the lights. Gary was off and had a blinder of a start. He made a few places by the time he got to the end of pit straight. He settled in to the traffic and followed the bikes at a good pace. I found it hard to decide what position he was in due to the 250s. On the third lap I noted the bike was pitching out of corners two, three and four. I had never seen that before and wondered if the rear shock had let go. Gary was in clear air by the fourth and final lap. He was riding well and looking a lot more relaxed but the behaviour of the bike had us a bit worried. Around for the last time and the checkered flag was out. Gary was still under full race speed as he got to the end of pit straight. Turns out he didn’t see the flag. Came around and backed the bike in to the pit. We went to work measuring tyre pressures and things. Gary had a massive smile and was loving it. We had some bike running issues to look at but the aim was to keep the bike shiny side up to finish the first race. Gary did this and in doing so ran Second in his class. Unbelievable. Well done Gary. What a great result. Second to Malcolm Nabbs. You had a great race Malcolm and beat Gary by 2.303 seconds.
We took all the stats and info from the bike and made no changes to it for race two. Fingers crossed. The day was warming up and the track was dry. Out to the Dummy grid and around to the start. The 125s were off followed by the 250s and then the 150s. Not such a good start this time and Gary dropped back to fifth. He made up two places in the first two laps and then chased Ryan down. They dueled for the second place for sometime and Gary managed to pass him on the fourth lap. Gary had settled the bike down by now and the pitching we saw in the first race had stopped. Gary had free air as he set about chasing Malcolm. We all stood along pit wall and commented on how Gary had relaxed and just how comfortable he looked. It could have been Patrick on the bike. His speed was good and even. By the last lap Gary had made up a lot of ground on Malcolm and it looked like he could have got him if the race went for another two laps but Malcolm crossed the line 4.11 second ahead of Gary. Again well done Malcolm and I recon you two are going to have a fantastic season.
I note Gary had the fastest lap time for his class in both races. This is going to be fun. Lets hope the old bike can take some more before it expires.
Thanks for the support from all who came along and a big thanks to FiveStar for continuing your support of our little team. And to all the Hawke’s Bay support team who appeared as the day warmed up. You guys make it a great place to be. Thanks heaps and lets see what happens on the 20th and 21st June for round Two.
Good write up Steve:niceone:

My mate just picked up two Harleys for $13,000 thats what Bay Corp let them go for, reposed bikes, nice bikes to, some people get all the bargains not that I want a Harley.

I'm sad to say that it will be a gentle pootle for me this Sat.
I have to take the domestic help for a ride, first time for near on 2 yrs.
So all the pillon gear is back on the Speedy, much to it's disgust!
So will have to miss the Mobil ride as I dont like, or feel confident at pace with pillons.
She wants to go to Patangata and then the Clclub on the way home, so plans are HW50/Onga/Ypawa/Pat/Club/home. Leaving my place about 1.00.

ok... now I don't know what to do? get an early night and try for an 11am ride from Mobile Taradale Road. Or try for a ride @ 1pm from HW50 or stay up all night and sleep all day (lol) and not freeze out there in winterland. I just went outside now and man.... that is one hell cold wind blowing by. I wonder how many clothes I have got to stuff under my riding gear.
So two people are confirmed to ride from HW50 so far. Anyone else?

Dropped in to town this morning to do some stuff and dropped in to W on da way home.
Talked him in to going for a fang up the Taupo road. It was really nice. Yep cold but with all the gear on it rocked. The road is in good nick and clean as. Lots of traffic to play in and 3 :Police:. I think one was pissed off as we came over the top of the hill and braked hard. I saw him before he instant on and braked as the beeping started. Must have looked good with the bikes diving as they came in to view Maybe next time mr :Police:.
I like riding in this weather. Much better than the 38deg we had in the summer. Whooo whooo thanks W, That was fun.

We're staying right on the beachfront between Surfers & Broadbeach in an apartment.

Yes it is in Nerang. On a street called Lawrence Drive. It actually runs parallel to the M1, on the surfers side. Easy to find. All shops except the Suzuki shop - that is in Burleigh. I bought some new bike boots from the accessory store - so make sure you don't just look in the bike shops, they have separate accessory stores too. I could've bought a racing suit for $199! - that would've meant I wouldn't have had room for other shopping lol!
Bikes are really cheap over here. GSXR1000 K4 5,oookm only 8,000. A k7 for only $9500. unbelievable!
Its a great day today, am about to go outside and do some sun bathing - ha ha ha

Yep, spent some time in that road last year. Mainly at the Trumpy dealership and the Ducati one around the block a bit. Was amazed how many new bikes the places had on the floor.
Saw the accessory shops too, went into one had a gander.

That's exactly what I did - everything rattled around on the way over, but its gonna be over full on the way home lol. Just hope I won't be over weight and it'll cost me an arm and a leg..... Lawrence Drive is my favourite place. And I always call into the 50's Headquarters - opposite side of the M1. Another good place to get Trail bike gear and clothes such as Jetpilot, Metal Mullisha, Fox, DVS etc, is Barties - on the main road into Burleigh, off the M1 - not far from the Suzuki shop. I know the GC really well - can you tell?

It is the plain Jane SV1000s In blue. Not black. I hate the black ones. Did I mention that? So Google SV1000s blue and you will see a gazillion that look like mine Tony. Blue not black.
I had to trade the Gixxer so I could pay for this one Dooly. Things are a bit tight at the moment. Anyway Patrick told me he didn’t like the Gixxer the last time he rode it.
So I have to run this twin in before I can see what it can do. It would have been a new Gixxer but times don’t allow for that, at the moment, so maybe next time. I am keen to try a twin. Very different to the inline 4.
Had 0ks on it at delivery and I ran up 80 or so tonight so another 920 to go before she gets new oil. I think I am going to enjoy this change. Hope Moooo likes the vibration . Not used to that. She could be very tired by the end of a good ride.

I am finding it different. I went for a short blast up the goat track this avo. Very different to ride and as I have to run it in I can’t give it the fat. However I had the feeling it is going to go well when it can be feed like it wants to be. Power with out High revs seems wrong but I am sure I will get with the program.
Congrats on the new wheels Steve. You won't get bored?
It is giving me the buzz so thats a good start. I find I am not as busy on this as I was on the 750.
If you need a hand, just give me a call! Don't forget I'm down here too :D
Cool thanks L.

Don’t hurt yourself George.
:argh: I suppose There has to be a name change eH! Steve, Mmmmmm I'll have to give me brain a tweek.
Well done that Man Congradulations
Thank you George. No name change. Still a Gixxer lover at heart just not got the bligg to get a new one. I wanted a new bike cos we buy them at 30,000k and in two years we are at 70,000 and no bugger wants to buy them. <_<
Nice to see another twin in the fold, you will love having all that torque on hand :). Cant wait to ride with you again!:Punk:
THanks Stormy1. It will be a bit slow for a while. Get it run in and then learn my way around the riding of it. I will follow you for a while and pick up some tips.

One worrying thing. I note the date stamp on the tyres is 3706. So the rubber, Michelin pilot sports, are already 3 years old.
Wouldn’t it be better if the bikes came out with rims and the tyres were fitted after the bike was sold so the rubber was fresh? <_<
Heel we have to learn to ride the new bike and they are shod with old rubber. I would never put 3 year old tyres on my bike. Might have to run them soft to get them hot. The power should kill them in a short time.

Thankyou for putting it so politely. I realised at the very last minute that I overlooked the word CLIVE:doh:. And I managed to get there to find a 40 bike turnout... Wu huuuu Some stunningly nice bikes there!
Again, a nice wee ride. Nothing too spiritted, but fun non-the-less. And, as usual, I didn't want to get off of the bike... I just wanted to keep riding all day long.
There's the BURGERFUEL  ride tomorow. Lets see how the weather turns out. I like those rides, they've always been worth the effort.

Good Classic Club ride today. Seems far more modern bikes on the rides these days. Good to get back to the clubrooms and check out the bikes.
Shame about the fella who crashed on the way back. Bike looks rooted, and he's knocked up a bit but hey a ride in the ambulance is always interesting. Trust me, done it many times.........:niceone:

The tyres should not be too bad as long as they have been out of the sun and the neat..
However I am STUNNED that you have come over to the Dark Side . well done!
