The bloke that lost his Life on Middle Road as I say was not one of our riders but was one of us. The President of The Warriors club was having a good chat to them before they left seemed a nice group I dont no if it was his partner but a lady with them suffered a broken arm I am told..

Lucky for us... whilst we were riding back from Wairoa a gunman :2guns: shot one man dead, shot and injured a boy, left the scene, rolled his car and then hijacked an old couples ute. AOS and other police have been choppered in, and the main trunk from Napier to Wairoa is closed.

So, we're lucky to have made it through, and lucky not to have bumped into a whole fleet of armed coppers
:Police::Police::Police::Police::motu::tugger: in hyper mode too.

Same with us in the cage. Came through Wairoa around 2.30 and came across the 1st police around Waihua, saw a helicopter, ambulance and 2 police cars at Tutira and then another 5 police cars on the way. Had to wait at the 2/5 intersection for armed police to wave us thru to get home. Road now closed between Raupunga and the 2/5 intersection so we lucky to have got home.

Well I for one am happy to have them around as we are in the area. I take exception to this Schado. This is not play time and people are dead. We have experienced this sort of thing first hand and we live in the closed road area. Hope it doesn’t happen again or to one of the police on duty. Give these police some respect for they are putting their lives on the line for the rest of us……………. Yes I am angry that you have the nerve to post like this……………… up yours……….

If you had second thoughts about your posting you should have removed it.

I do feel for you Steve. Not nice knowing there is a guy out there who is locked in by the road blocks. Hope the catch him soon.

The Burger Fuel ride was great. Road lovely and dry. Quiet trundle to Wairoa and back - might've been abit slow for some, but was nice all the same. Bike lacked horsepower :shit: But the SV did well today.:Punk:

Sure has been an eventful weekend for Hawkes Bay.

I too have lost a good friend whilst doing his job (and another one was shot a couple of years ago too). We don't need to risk lives in this senseless manner. Maybe this gunman will turn on himself like Jan Molenaar did in the end.

Stay safe guys :)

Seeing that I don’t actually know you, I can’t see why it would be your intention to take my post out of context. As you should have noticed, I was referring to us as a group of riders being lucky not to have bumped into a fleet of cops - most likely full of adrenalin and packing heat - coming the other way whilst we were all enjoying our usual '101km/h riding' on our way back from Wairoa :shit: And lucky not to have been stuck inside the cordens 'on our bikes' of all things.

The tosser emoticon is a direct dig at traffic enforcement, and not some needle poking far king voodoo wish !!! I have seen loads of derogatory references to Police traffic enforcement in this thread and throughout Kiwi biker, so why the sudden ‘growling’ for me I don’t know! I’m sorry that you took offense to what I posted, but not sorry that I posted what I did. This is a matter of error in contextual judgement on your part. I did nothing wrong !!!

Do I hope that the police catch the murderous, child shooting, car jacking terrorist? Absolutely and without question.

Thanks for the reply. As GMcC said, A time and place. I guess we will never understand each other. Highlighted by the fact that you don’t understand why I was upset and I don’t understand how you could have posted that comment when people are dead.

There is a difference between traffic cops sitting in bushes to catch you at 101kmh and Police risking their lives to save others with guns etc involved. I guess we will just agree to disagree.

Maybe I have to look at the way I speak of Traffic cops. After all, without them, we could not ride for fear of being run over.

Have a great day everyone.

I turned my scanner on for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday, and caught it all on the airwaves.
It was very interesting to listen to the operation being run and what was going down.

The bloke shot took 4 .223 bullets to the chest, he was always a goner, the kid a flesh wound.

They said the offender's rap sheet to all the Police on board.
History of family violence, arson, assaults, armed offences, and a REVOKED firearms licence.

Glad they got the maggot.

I for one am glad the situation has been resolved, so people can continue on their daily routine. We came accross a bus driver yesterday who couldn't collect the workers at the mill, nor drop off the next shift.

Well, the Classic Club ride on Sat was a bit ho-hum.

Did'nt really get going and by the time you got past the oldies we were at the first stop, Puketap Pub. Then just a short blast to the clubrooms after that.

Thanks for your post also. I do understand what you are saying, but am still left wondering whether you would have reacted as you did to my post, had YOU not lived within the cordon area. I suspect not. And seeing that I had no idea that anyone in this thread lived within that cordon I never thought a need for special sensitivity.

The time: I posted just after we had ridden (at 101km/h) in the very location where the incident occurred, attracting the very organisation that we, as riders, all try so very hard to avoid whilst out riding. I was referring to a ‘WHEW!!!’ moment.

The place: ‘KiwiBiker Hawkes Bay Weekend Rides’ thread. A place which could be considered by some as being a modern-day ‘party-line’ where we all get to converse casually and freely about riding in the Hawkes Bay on the Weekend.

I would hope that someone on here understood and understands my intent. I'm starting to wonder wheter I should wear my helmet in here as well as on rides.

Could'nt make the kickoff in time for that.

It was a good turn out with 15 bikes, 3 being 2-up. Some new riders too, (good to see you Charlied1). It was a slow ride, which was nice (between 120-140km). Road conditions were great. Nice dry roads and no gravel or shit on it either.

No incidents (thank goodness) except for a mother and her ducklings crossing the road infront of a group of riders on the way back, but all ended good there, albeit on the wrong side of the road trying to avoid them, but no feathers flew (phew).

Got back to Burger Fuel for a burger and prize giving thanks to Five Star Suzuki. :first:

Allow me to tell the full story.....

Yes, me being stubborn, :innocent: I wanted to learn to do it myself (how else do you learn). I changed the spark plugs under the watchful eye of one slow tl1000.... (he he he) and all was well. I proceeded to drain the oil, attached the new filter, when one slippery tl1000 (oh, sorry Todd, fingers slipped on keyboard) proceeded to undo the sump bung (can't blame me!). Anyway, when the time came to re-insert it - it would not tighten as the previous owner had obviously had trouble with it in the past and added another washer - hence too much strain on it (or so I'm informed by those who know more than me - yes, it is possible). Craig from Five Star said there are only so many times you can remove the bung due to the alloy construction, before something like this happens. They put in a helicoil (I call it a helicopter - sounds funnier) and its now all fixed

So.... there! I had to pull out the SV and it was fun actually. After the weekend's road toll, it was deemed to be a slower ride, and everyone rode quieter than normal.

So.... there! I had to pull out the SV and it was fun actually. After the weekend's road toll, it was deemed to be a slower ride, and everyone rode quieter than normal.
so next time I hope the helicore does come out with the bung like happened to me!

Yep, the 1st one i rode was a 1340 lowrider a mate bought, we swaped bikes for the day when i had my trident, I thought this will be fast , big engine and all that, well to say i was disappointed was a understatment, heaps of torque but i missed my trident instantly, it was comfortable , but not my scene. another mate had a XR1000 flat track replica, THAT WAS LOTS OF FUN, high comp , big cams , big dellortos , and NOT a Evolution engine, Not many of them around now(not that there was anyway)

Hey there Stormy. Yep, sure thing. I'm in for a Sunday ride... weather permitting (ie: if its too cold and wet I might take a raincheck - sadly the weekend forecast isn't too hot).

Hey guys, what about this for a ride on Sat.

Down HW50, Onga, thru there somewhere, maybe Porangahau for lunch, back thru Ypawa, to Patangata for tea and scones in the arvo, Middle rd?
Something like that.

Earlier start say 11ish? BP Storty? Or straight thru to Tait rd Maraekakaho to meet me.

Kinda feel like doing that myself.:scooter:

I might be in for a Sat. ride also... but not in the cold rain. I've done my dash of riding in the shite this year. It's not fun anymore. I'll check in here for updates.

Was A Really nice ride. As you said the snow was well off the road. The ice grit was very heavy in places, for obvious reasons, but it makes for carful riding as it is hard to see. Mr W gathered a lot up on the gixxer as I changed lanes and had to back off.

I did chain and sprockets on my duke, had a 17/41 on it, standard is 17/39. i rode a mates one that was 17/39 and it felt ok so i went and replaced and went with the standard gearing. after a few rides i wished i had left the lower gearing. Finally got to give the new Pilot Power 2s a run in on the Ducati.
Was meant to be yesterday but as usual Italian electrics put paid to that before even leaving!:weep:
Fortunately can jump on another steed when that happens.

Very impressed with the Power 2s. Always had Road 2s on the Duc.
Have Power 2s on the Daytona and get a few slides but today gave the Ducati a hard nudge thru Middle Rd, prob one of the quickest I've ridden it, and no hint of sliding and exceptional grip. Pressures 32/34.
I guess the payoff will be fuckall mileage out of them but who cares.......

If you want to to do a sprocket change then -1 on the front is probably all you need. You will pull just few more revs which help to get you in to the power a bit sooner and you can be lazy with gear changes.. The down fall is that you put more miles on the speedo unless you you put a speedo healer on. Front spocket is about $30.00 Speedo healer $188.00 plus postage approx ex aussie:cool:

Was a gentile cruise. The power 2s are good. The Harley riders would of been impressed when we went passed them. In fact would of been nice if they had a video when i went passed.

You should get heaps of k's out of your front tyre riding like that :msn-wink:

If you want to to do a sprocket change then -1 on the front is probably all you need. You will pull just few more revs which help to get you in to the power a bit sooner and you can be lazy with gear changes.. The down fall is that you put more miles on the speedo unless you you put a speedo healer on. Front spocket is about $30.00 Speedo healer $188.00 plus postage approx ex aussie:cool: Thanks for that Rob. My bike is old and speedo driven off front wheel so sprocket change would not apply any way I think I will leave as is as Jase said.

I went to woodville today - great ride. Only 1 hour 10 - and 1 hour 10 back.

Had to wait for Shirl she was coming up from Wellington. No cops on road. Good slow 101 km/h ride :)

Ahh, so that was you guys I saw coming towards me round about Valley Rd yesterday.

CH sent me some green and it jogged my memory.:niceone:
