I am busy for the next 2-3 weeks but will start a thread about it when I get the work sorted.
We need info on a lot of things. Like shipping costs. Do we send them with a company or buy a container etc? How far do we want to ride each day? Do we take a support van or just wing it? Do we tent/cabins and many more questions. If someone wants to start a thread we can see who is interested and start planning. I can do it in 3 weeks time but not just at the moment. Just start saving heaps. it is going to cost some bling. I was thinking 18 months to two years time. Taking 4 weeks off to do the trip. Just an idea at this stage. I am keen.

Not to be a wet blanket, but I have concerns about Sticky riding her bike all the way back from Dannevirke. Not that she doesn't have the ability but that the bike will not have been run in by then. You must remember that this bike has been sitting for some time and has only just been got running. I suggest that it be run in around the streets or summat for a bit. Warmed up right first.

Nice ride today, first in 6 weeks for me.

Was only going to go to the HW50 turnoff, but my mojo came back.

Awesome ride home on HW50 Rob & George.
Thanks for stopping and checking why I stopped just out of Dannevirke.
Just took my shades off as due to the visor being stuffed I could'nt see a thing. Did'nt help much. Time to get a new one.
Due to the poor vision some of the corners caught me a bit on HW50 especially at the nice pace we were going.
But really enjoyed it, could of kept going!

29th July 2007, 08:14
Na sweet as. Thats whats its about, stopping to make sure your mates are ok.
Yea that was a good ride home, nice pace. I think i need one of those detector thingys as the R1 enjoys pulling those revs.

Well i better get into the shed and give her a oil change. Take the wheels off for the new tyres.

So I dropped in to see Craig tonight. Tell you what, it is a much better shop now he is back. People are friendly and chatty and ready to help. Speights_bud got a great deal for his chain and sprockets and it all arrived on time and at a good price. They did forget to order the oil filter but thats life.

As I had a bad run with Five star when they opened it is only fair I post this cos things appear to be coming right. So I will be going back to see how it goes.

Lots of info from Craig on sending bikes to OZ and riding in OZ. Thanks for all the help. Give Five Star a go and lets put the other problems down to starting a new business.

So do we call ourselves the "Five star riding group" now?

Stickchick
31st July 2007, 08:01

We're fine, just helping some others out down the road in the low areas.
The Stoney Creek Christian camp on our road has organised some of their ilk to help too, so the big fella upstairs will be helping out as well.........

Hi Cola.
Well spotted mate. We had to keep this event quiet cos of the weather and the TV people needed time to get the filming etc done. It was a great day. The program will be on TV in November, I think. The Zuki roll over was a bit scary. I was standing 3 meters from were it landed. Ouch.
We are hosting the H/B leg of the national champs at Easter next year. Could be a go. Camp here and enjoy the days entertainment.

That sounds like a cracker idea! You provide the space and I'll bring myself and fire... (I enjoyed that and want more!)

You could have something here. We have covered sheep yards for the bikes and a woolshed for sitting around in and eating etc. Zip for coffee etc. We would need a porta Loo as the woolshed or the septic tank might struggle. The 4WD club had them on site last year for the public but we could get one for our own use. I am sure Wasp27 and a few others would help out with a BBQ and stuff. Not sure how you would organise things. People could bring their own food and cook etc. We had food outlets on site last year during the competition day. Mind you Bay View is only 12 Km away. Fish and chip shop and pub for them that want it. Napier is only 28 Km away if you want restaurants etc. Bring a tent. Usually nice here at Easter.

However, unlike some events, no jelly wrestling, burnout competitions or such. Yep I am an old conservative critter and it would be a quiet weekend for K/Bers and friends in the country. We had a few thousand spectators last years so you would want to keep your stuff in the covered yards outa the way of the public. Leave someone with the gear. They have a tendency to touch stuff. And take it.
A good idea Cola. Lets see if we can do something like this. We will need an idea of numbers coming. See if anyone else runs with this idea.

Well I best get the old beast fixed and get my arse up there for a ride... or two...

I wonder if I'll be welcome (as a surrogate HBer)

I don't see why not.
We've adopted all sorts of strangers and wee things in the past...what's one more nutter to add to the mix!

Think I hid under Tart's skirt.

I guess I'll have to take it like a man and think of England?

Hmmmmm Riding in a skirt. I did see that once. Lucky I was walking or I could have crashed.
Does MSTRS know about you being in Tarts Skirt? With all this man stuff going around one might assume you were wearing it Dooly.

Fingers crossed. Hope these cows behave today so I can get out for a ride. Recon we should hit the Wairoa road today. It is warm and dry here. Bloody summer in fact. A bit of wind but most of that road will be sheltered. Sort of.

Wasp27 and I went to the summit ( Taupo rd ) on Thursday and it was very windy. Lots of open road for the wind up there. So what you all think?
Was a blast aye W...................

Certainly was.....I just finished saying to D..."bet we go up the goat track today:innocent: seeing as how we went the Taupo Rd the other day:yes: and guess what....I check the site and BINGO....I  the Wairoa road. I reckon she'll be a nice ride today by the look of it. Hitcher will be annoyed he's missed a ride...trouble is they have to ride through some pretty shitty weather to get here..so they very wisely postponed this weekend. Still Brett, one things for certain up here...there will be plenty of other :scooter:opportunities....so you two, just hold your breath a wee bit longer. I think it will good for you today Janet, actually looks like the wind is abatting with every passing hour. Not that many exposed parts on that road anyway....should be good. So check ya tires....clean ya visor...see ya there.

Saw Pinkhoggirl at Draculas the other night, what a small world. Its 27 degrees over here so its time to scare the locals with my lily white legs. I have photos to bring home but unfortunately I can't put them up here as I'm at a internet cafe.

Hope you guys are missing my lovely smile  Enjoy your ride. I keep seeing bikes over here wishing I was riding. I'm hopefully gonna be back on Saturday (not today for those that are alittle simple). So any chance we could go for a ride on sunday (Weather permitting)?

No problemo. That is what we do when it is needed/asked for. I have no doubt that Dave had an absolute ball following me well-outside his personal comfort zone, and he learned shitloads about keeping it smooth. I just told him to follow my lines, watch for gearchanges and only brake when I did. I think he saw god once or twice!! He also now knows that it is not about top speed, it is about average speed.
It was fun for me too. Mentoring is good for the soul.

Sunday saw us back out there heading to Patangata for lunch, but G4E and us got caught in a downpour, the heaviest rain I can remember. I could not see the other side of the road it was so bad.
