Very impressed with the Power 2s. Always had Road 2s on the Duc.
Have Power 2s on the Daytona and get a few slides but today gave the Ducati a hard nudge thru Middle Rd, prob one of the quickest I've ridden it, and no hint of sliding and exceptional grip. Pressures 32/34.
I guess the payoff will be fuckall mileage out of them but who cares.......
Very impressed with the non-2CT-ROAD on the front, and the DOOLY-2CT-ROAD on the back :Punk: as I followed Dooly through Middle Rd. I can't vouch for the non-slip factor though  I can however vouch that Dooly was doing the entire 101km/h... hell, maybe... and I will say this with caution because I know that it is against the law... maybe he hit the 102km/h mark on a few occasions. But, in saying that, if he broke the law, then so did I cos I was in his rear visioin mirror.

Man, they must of had a slow ride. Feel for the guy on the Daytona with them.
Did you see them coming into Ypuk as we were going back out there after going thru Onga, Hatuma etc.
Yeah, wasn't that a crack up. And we deviated up to the old Y-Puck hospital on the hill for Robertydog to get some reversing practice for a short time.

The Harley riders would of been impressed when we went passed them. In fact would of been nice if they had a video when i went passed.
Yeah, a video with the little heart monitor screen top right :rolleyes::D

well you got 600 K's more than me
Not got the penny's for that just yet, gave it a blood transfusion and filter, rear brake pads, front pads, sprockets and chain next month just wondering if I should alter the gearing.
Whats the gearing on your bike now G ? The standard on my Duke (which it has now) would be great if i was on a Autobahn. Not for middle road:woohoo:

Hey CrazyHorse, how about a report on Cold Kiwi?
Well the report goes something like this..... Decided on Friday that I would not really want to be a part of minus 9 temperatures and frozen tents, so I rode off in the sunset to visit friends in Wellington, slept in a warm bed, had wine and yummy home cooked meals, and came home again yesterday.
....but I hear fun was had at the kiwi this year (all hearsay, of course)

Lucky I'm tuff! I didn't fancy ice on the road and as I was riding up by myself, seemed the easy out option.....no one to say "come on, lets still do it" so yeah, soft Minge (lol). Yip, that's me and I don't care :oi-grr: I had a great weekend, and still clocked up over 550 km on the bike

Well, the hold up must've been that we didn't go to Havelock, but out to the Puketap. About 170 km took 1 hour 10. :innocent: Actually the traffic on the road was light, and no cops either. First time ever, that I've done less than 200 km on a tank!!! Maybe I never filled it right up..... yeah right!

Schado is a madman to follow Dooly down HW50 and Middle Rd. But thats about it. I'm very tame compared to most of the guys whom I like to ride with. Don't worry about your speed...you were enjoying yourself, learning a bit more and being responsible (unlike that hooligan Schado). Besides, it was hard work just keeping in front of you. I really thought you'd have me round the lake. :devil2:

Yeah that farking sunstrike was a wanker, even with my dark visor on. Im getting the feel for the bike and the tyres a bit more every time i go on rides like these. I feel that the suspension isn't how it should be for my weight though.

To get the suspension set up all you really need to do, without spending any money, is to set the Sag. It's a three person job ya see. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/howto/122_0508_motorcycle_suspension_setup/index.html
And numerous other sites will explain it as well. Well that's about all I know about setting up suspension for you weight.

Bit more to it than that. Setting sag is just the starting point.
G4E is good with that sort of thing. As is Wasp27. Maybe we could organise a suspension night at ours and get it done? The only tool I haven't got is a rear shock c-hook.

Todd and I had a great ride - only 1 cop on the road, close to Taupo. Seems to be our normal 1 hour 10 minute ride to get where we going lately. Excellent dry roads and had a wonderful time. Even better being out and thinking about those working.....
Morepower must be sulking, as he never returned our text messages !!!
Hope you boys enjoyed the ride to Wairoa too. What a day for riding :scooter:
That’s a normal time for bikes. See you can stick to the speed limit when you want to. It is 120km to Taupo so if you do it in 1 hour 10 you are averaging around 100kmh. Well done you two.
Maybe the boat Dave is on is out of Cell coverage......... :apint:

Bit more to it than that. Setting sag is just the starting point.
G4E is good with that sort of thing. As is Wasp27. Maybe we could organise a suspension night at ours and get it done? The only tool I haven't got is a rear shock c-hook.
I've got a bit more reading to do then. I was gonna ask a while ago if anyone in Napier could help with suspension.
That would rock if you could though. Would love to get the bike set up a bit more for me.

Quite often I find the mood one is in determines whether one wants to be a 'fast' or 'slow' rider on the day.
Of course its easy to be swept up in the pace of the company you're with for the ride.
But generally I like to give it heaps, but thats me, always been like that, each to their own. I feel my riding has improved over time by riding at a brisk pace, and of course track day tootling, but of course some may disagree, especially the bacon.:sweatdrop
And Steve.........you're no slow poke mate.:2thumbsup

All you said is good and is how it is.
I have entered in to this debate many times. I am happy to arrive at the venue/regroup point, first or last or late. No big deal for me. I like to go fast but at the moment I am happy to go slower. So that’s good for me. I love riding. I also look forward to spending time with the people I meet here and on bikes in general. Point in question, we meet a couple last weekend at Tarawera from down south. Had a great chat for an hour while sitting in the sun not far from the snow. I find riders to be a great group of people to spend time with. I also understand why Tart feels like she does. There is no one answer and I tried to pull the two groups together years ago and found the fast group needed to go fast and the slow group felt intimidated. Frustrating for me cos I recon we can have fantastic rides if we could get everyone to come along as we have in the past. Round the lake, ANZAC day 2 years ago, protest rides etc etc. So keep posting rides and it is for everyone to choose what rides they come on. When I get more time I will organise rides for a slower group and then if the fast riders want to come along cool. Just go ahead and we will catch up in time. So there will be plenty of rides on for the summer. Get your bikes out and sorted for the summer.
Two groups can coexist. It will work, as people will go with the group they feel suits them best and the two groups can come together as often as possible or as a ride allows. As long as we never adopt the “ them and Us” attitude we will all have a great summer. There is no reason why a group ride has to have people riding on their own.

Moo wants to go back to the Phillip Island, so bad. Might have to consider a return trip soon. How many would be interested in booking a house on the Island and going to the track for the 2010 Moto GP?
You would have to front up with the bling as a none refundable deposit around Christmas time I would think to pre pay for the house. We stayed on the Island in a nice house with 8 others and it cost us $80.00 a day per person. Everyone has to get in and do the cooking , cleaning etc. You really have to be able to live with others for 3 days and pull your weight but it worked so well for us. Anyone interested ? :innocent:

Well said, Steve. The point of a group ride surely is to ride as a group. This is where the 'problem' lies. YT wants to ride with others, not meet up at odd points along the way or at the end. Of course, most likely being the slowest (read that as cautious) she feels she is holding others up if they stay with her, but to an extent resents being left on her own.
Tis a hard one.

Even though i haven't been on a group ride I'd expect it to be like if your going for a walk with some mates, It'd kind of suck if they just took off leaving you to walk there by yourself.
but generally it'd be better to have two rides so then the guys that want to go ooober fast can do that and not be held up and the guys that want more of a leasurely pace can be with the group that suits.
for a better social side the slower group could meet earlier and leave for a destination and then the fast ones later, and if timed correctly you guys could get to a place within minutes of each other.

I cant understand the way that this thread is going. I for one have my fast days and my slow days. Surely it is about everyone sharing a common iterest - Bike Riding. We all meet, decide a route, then just slip into the group/pace that suits and regroup at sensible points along the ride. This way we all ultimately meet up at the same destination and socialise as bikers with a common passion. Shit does it have to be more complicated than that???

Nobody wants 'complicated'. For whatever reason, the cruisy, more learner-friendly rides have dropped by the wayside. They were getting faster anyway, and YT stopped coming along cos of the pace, and being left behind. But we no longer have that group of people that like to ride cruisy. By that I mean decidedly sub-legal speeds. If the only people that turn up want to ride much faster, then we can't do much about that. Where are the riders that are happy to go 'slow'?

Most of them developed better riding skills and move to faster rides. That’s a good thing. So a few that didn’t want to ride fast got left with no one to organise rides or ride with. So it is time to put on rides for a slower group again. I am happy to do that when I get my weekends back as I like a slower pace from time to time. As Dale said, simple is good. So everything is easy as, when we establish the slower group again and get all the people who want to cruise riding together. We will do joint rides with both groups in time as we have done in the past. Everything is good. However I am on a ride with another group this weekend so can’t plan a ride for the slower group from K/B. Maybe next weekend……

However I can tell you, as I have ridden the 07 Gixxer at some speed to the rev limiter, hope W is not reading this, that it will get you outa nearly any shit you get in to on the road. Other than oil, shingle etc. Even then it will work for you. They corner like magnets and handle like race bikes. That’s cos they are…….. Yeah i understand this bike was made to be able to do all that, i just cant pull up the confidence on it to go flying through the corners, my reason/(possibly excuse) is it doesnt feel 'like a magnet' going around the corners because im fairly certain that the suspension isnt set up for my weight (im 78ishkgs) and the guy before me was around 100kgs.
You may see now why i really want to get this suspension sorted before i start really leaning over etc.

Speaking of rides, anyone up for a mid weeker next week.
Thinking of maybe tootling down to the Hutt next Weds?
Need to talk to the Duc dealer about summit, so thought might take the day off and ride.
But don't have to go there, but am thinking of a good ride for the day, say 9-10ish till 4? I'm off to-day
Don't need balls.
Look at Crazyhorse, she aint got none.

In that case keep the Ace or we will not get to see you as often as we do. Tis about the people George. Is Phillip Island in the planned trip to OZ? Next year........:innocent: Na Mate going Croc hunting at Port Douglas
:innocent: I'm in for this one
I've been stuck in the office doing workshop invoices for the last few days (after putting it off for weeks) hence my high post rate lately.
And its boring me crazy. So why you post you suppose to be working HaHaHa
You have a good attitude and you are prepared to learn. That’s fantastic. If you look at the place you want to go they will take you there. This comment is not to make you go faster but to give you confidence that the bike will look after you should you find yourself in a situation. Hang on and look at the escape rout and you WILL ride out of trouble. They are a magic bike……. So is the R1

Do I look like a multi-tasker? Please don't ask me to get over myself while I'm still trying to get over you and Todd. I'm not exactly sure how it is that I could be referring to you or Todd, or you two collectively, unless you feel as though you deserve special parking rights at the supermarket. Or maybe you feel challenged about who owns the HB roading network? Wait, I know what it is, I should have offered to point my weekend riding money at your petrol tank first... that’s gotta be it.
Anyways, next time you and Toddy decide to 'spend the day together' please feel free to call upon me to serenade you both with my violin :violin: If I'm not available at the time, I'm sure that there are a shit load of people in here who would jump at the chance. Because we care.
Let me think about the slow riders that 'invited me' for a bit. Hmm hang on 'are they bovered tho, are they, are they bovered?' No, evidently, they are not. Because , having met them both, they, even though half your age, don't appear to be so immature as to take such humour personally.

Good morning. Yes. I thought that was funny... I said it with humorous intent. I'm not a nasty or spiteful person. But am a fast learner. I don't gamble (unless its really worth it like the $17m tomorrow) so I don't care to win any friends. Generally, my straight-shooter approach and reasonable sense of humour 'earn' me one or two friends here or there.
I love to ride. I joined KB forums to find rides not dates nor picnics or piss-up's. I would have expected that those who have taken it upon themselves to pay particular attention to me would have noticed that I ride... when the group stops at pubs and cafe's etc, I keep to myself until we set off again. And then at the end of the ride I break away and go my own way.
Too much politics goes on in here. It almost strips the fun and freedom right out of riding... naaa, no chance of that !!!

If i really feel like throwing caution to the wind, I might hit 120...but only in the straights...I fall off in corners, y'kno! (Cos I'm a hopeless rider, but a really cool person!)
I have seen 135 once...and it scared the shit out of me...that's what I have John for...that awesome speed feeling...ahhh, its good to be a pillion!
Hey I am with you. Maybe a slower riders group is warranted. Then every body is happy. The slower group can talk about half day/ day rides, Maybe even and this is radical stop on the way and admire the view or even regroup.

Neat ride. First time I been that far up Taihape Rd, what great sweepers & bends.
And the best thing was, we never exceeded the speed limit.
Shame about the TLR, but one of those tight corners that kept on tightening nearly had my name on it too.:shit:
Nice to ride Grant's 999 Duc, chalk and cheese to my one, but great none the less.
Good to see Dave on the VFR back into it.

Would that be a right hander going up the hill about half a k from the shingle? One nearly got me, all be it a long time ago, and would have if Morepower had not touched his brake to worn me of it.I would have visited the bushes for sure.
Paul and I headed West and went back to the Tarawera for lunch. Was a good ride. All day breaky up there is something else. I couldn’t finish it  and that’s rare for me.

Yes, a RH that went tighter & tighter. Did'nt get to the shingle as we stopped when John dropped his TL, but I think it was close to the shingle.
Could'nt believe it either, fuel light came on on way home from the Classic Club, only showing 130kms done on the ride!!!
Thats worse than small tank VTR1000!!!
Musta been using the gas pedal a bit.

John crashed on a LH, but my one was before and a tight RH.
But LH on way back......
Got a small tank on my Duc and a digi odometer.
But I reset the odometer when I gassed up at Tamatea, so 130 from there.

Remember to get your dirt bikes ready for the 20th, Next week…….Sunday………. for a ride on the farm. I have picked an interesting ride on the farm tracks. Some is hard some is not. Mostly on tracks but some tracks are a bit ….ummmm…. ruffish. We can help each other around if needs be. Than I will point you to a big hill and you can go and play. Oh yea, you can play in the bog if you want. You bringing your 4x4 Tod? You cold show them how real men drive.
Would be good if you have safety stuff. It is up to you to wear it. I will lead you on an old AG 200 so you will have to let me get well ahead

Yes you can use it but you will not be able to carry Becks on the ride I had planned. Maybe you can take a group on an easier ride and I can take the harder ride? Or vice versa
Was going to go up the zig-zag in the George over the top down the blackberry face along the flat up the second to end face, far end via the far face, along the middle track , up the hill cross over the top of the George and down the woolshed side. Will that ride work for this group? But not really a pillion ride. You could lead the same ride but take an easier rout as not all might like the harder ride........?

I just found this on the home page,
Theres more if you follow the link
The Group Ride Guide
Group rides. Many like minded individuals meet up to share their passion for sport, ride some excellent roads, enjoy the company of old and meet new friends and talk shit. Unfortunately, all too often however these excursions are marred by an accident – or worse, we lose a friend.
Make no mistake it is a dangerous game we play at the best of times, but there are some things particular to group rides that can catch out the unwary.
An approach was made to the wise and powerful Mental Trousers to try and find a way to bring together a group of folk from a broad spectrum of KB and see if we could reach a consensus on these factors and what could be done to mitigate them.
What follows is the fruit of those discussions. A set of guidelines which we hope, if adopted and followed will go some way toward reducing the risks associated with group rides and make them more enjoyable for all participants.
It is hoped that organisers will state that rides will be run in accordance with The Group Ride Guide and provide a link to this in their announcement and/or calendar event posts. It is anticipated that the guidelines can not cover every situation nor should all be applicable to every ride. But please, let people know what to expect so that they may make an informed decision as to whether they should attend the ride or not.
I won’t name names, I think MT has access to a list of all participants, and some, for various reasons wished to remain anonymous. As you know, trying to get consensus on any given topic from more than a couple of people can be difficult, so for my part I would like to thank everyone for their co-operation, time, effort, ideas and constructive input. Well done guys.

The old man has a drz250 to play on, got a set of kx forks on for a better ride. He hasnt been off-road on my tractor as yet, he's a bit worried about the front wheel popping up on him all to quickly, or getting into trouble and then grabbing a hand full of power...

Was thinking about this fast/slow group thing.
Maybe we could have a fast group, a medium group, and a slow group.
But also a slow/med, med/med, med/fast, but to cover all bases, maybe a slow, slow/med, slow, med, med/, med, med, fast/, fast, fast, ultrasonic/, then perhaps a slow, slow, slow, slow/, slow, slow, slow, med/ med, med, med, fast/, fast, fast, ultrasonic, ultrasonic.
Then maybe a group that are so fast they have arrived at the destination and are back home before the rest have left.
They can be the mega ballistic group.
Then we'd have a place for all!!!
Ok, sorted.

Hmm..hi to all who frequent this thread. I have been watching this HB thread and reading the posts since I joined kb. I enjoy everyones humourous comments, you all seem to be a damn decent bunch of people..that have that one common factor > riding and enjoying. The reason Ive been lurking n the background - you can learn alot by every1s honest comments in the posts. About me and my riding abilities - Im more at ease with my bike, I admit my comfort zone with speed is at 100. Yeah I have gone over the hundy...who hasnt:no: Im kinda thinking of joining the Wednesday ride? But, I reckon my SLOWness will holdup the faster crew , as you all have the speedy roadbikes. Hi, firstly you should be fine riding with us. We don't hit much over 100 as we both can't afford to have the cops on our back. At the moment we are looking at going to waipuk via middle road and the back roads on the otherside of the river. If you're in Waipawa, I'm not sure where you would want to join us. I guess you could either join up when we are heading back home (not sure what road yet) or meet us in Napier and head back out to waipuk->waipawa.
If you decide just let me or V8 know and we'll be sure to accommodate you.
EDIT: Sweet bike btw!

Couldn't have put it any better myself. *note, 105kph+ costs us money we would rather not part with*.
Im doing my first lot of testing new tyre pressures on this ride on wednesday, so ill be very cautious and be trying to really feel whats going on underneath.
I can say it'll be very interesting to have a harley riding with a couple of sports bikes, promise not to lose you though.
