Hey all
Well I have just rolled back into Hawkes Bay, after a very successful Dusty Butt ride
Although not the fastest riders for the event, we finished with a time of 22 hours
That was 22 hours non stop with only a few breaks for liquid.
The temperatures reached over 35 degrees during the day at one part, and down to 7 degrees in the wee hours of the morning
An amazing ride on gravel, 22 hours is a long time in the saddle, but it was a challenge that I can now say I have completed.
Whilst I feel good now, I had blisters on my hands, a sprained neck from the sheer distance and torture
Wasp27 those light mounts were the best!!!
They were by far the best ones out there, and certainly made my life a lot easier navigating the tracks and gravel roads at 2am :Punk:
So already I am thinking of "what next"
G4E - Congrats on the new addition to the family, so are you the new Nana and Pops of KB Hawkes Bay

Thanks for all the comments ppl. No pic's yet Rob. Haven't seen da boy yet. Today I hope, if I can get the last of the shearing done and fix the water supply. Hope to leave at lunch time. Tis a good thing.
Aye Zukin..... What a trip man......... I don't think I could do 22 hours on the Gixxer. 8-9 max and I have a pain in the butt.... Yes thank you Rob ;) ..... But then I am an old fart now. If Wasp27 made it, it is going to be the best. He is like that. :2thumbsup
Later, and take care out there on the roads. They get enough tax so don't add to it.

Showered so best I get the family in the cage and go driving for a few hours. Bloody hell it is going to take 3 hours twenty in the car. Not 2 hour and fourty five like the bike. Somethin wrong here. I see lots of bike trips in the near future.

Sorry young man. I didn't have the X50 so was looking for tax men. My bike is not shiny cos Speights_bud had it last weekend and it looks like a trail bike. The blown fuse thing has come back to haunt me so I better strip it down and get that sorted. I hate that type of work. Still better get it done so it is off the road for a week or two. Hope you had a good ride Dooly. It was good to catch up with you.
We enjoyed a leisurely pootle to Wairoa, lunch (courtesy of Ostler's) on the riverbank, and lots of compulsory talking of shit.....then off to Mrs Moo's for coffee and cake, yummmy!
What a fantastic day for a ride, but wouldn't it be nice if Transit could sort out the running tar problem. I don't like it when the wheels squirm under me.....
Thanks everyone, superb day!

Had a great day out to Puketitri with the Triumph group, then the long way to Chook & Filly for lunch.
Thought for a minute when I saw you at BP the bunch of compressors that turned up were coming with us, but luckily......
I bet the Wairoa rd was busy with bikes today.
Funnily enough, I told the guys you were heading for Wairoa and one who rides there a lot said, it would be a bad tar day today up there.

Was a good ride eh, especially on the way back HW50.
As I told you on the day, because I'm purely a social rider I dont usually encounter rain as you obviously pick good days to ride if you have a choice.
But I did'nt mind it, as it gave me a chance to learn more on bike control and riding in wet, especially when it pissed down like that.

With the big spread in the Napier Mail this week, the time has come to set up a table in town on Saturday to collect signatures. We need some help with this.
First, a table to use. Like a folding card table or similar. I have some stools.
Second, people to man the table. I suggest two at a time for an hour each, sort of thing.
Third, the flags.
I will provide the forms and other printed material, pens, etc.
I think that 10am-2pm should do it.
Who is in to help with this??

Great work from you all on the CC thingy on the weekend. I sat down and had a read of some of the forums last night relating to CC. We are lost at the moment when it comes to putting a case. I noted how many threads there are and had a read of some of the work BRONZ is doing. I believe in the dripping tap thing but the tap has to drip more than once a week. I have no idea where to from here. If a group went out and made an impact in on the city roads it might get people asking about things but it might turn many away. A 500,000 signature petition might get a reaction but I don't believe it will. Look at some of the bills the Polys put in place at the end of last year.
Might be time to take action. When I get out from under this work load I might try and put a ride together in Wellington or Auckland to disrupt traffic. We will need plenty of support and riders. lets see what happens.

Why I hate the system. Why we need to speak out and take action.
We had a raid on our business on Saturday night and an attempt was made to steal $11,250.00 worth of sheep. They only got $40.00 worth that I know of. Have I had the :Police: here yet? Oh no they are to busy.
But should I go 110kmh on the road I get a ticket. yea I know, you are all sick of hearing this but I feel vindicated for how I feel about the system. Fuckem. Time to shoot people.

Yep. It was not all bad as they contacted me to tell me it was down. That does not happen too often. ;) We fixed the fence 50 metres down the road last week at the start of the week. The truck that run this section of fence down is going to sort out the fixing of it. That's a first. :2thumbsup

Look I know I'm from Welly and don't have a special pass to enter here but I kinda need some HB help.
I'm looking for a lift from Manfield back to the Bay on the Sunday after the Nationals. Pillion/van/cage, I don't mind. That'd be Sunday fortnight the 24th Feb. I have a car to pick up in Taradale and bring back to Welly.
It's most likely that people who are not racers will make a decision to go to Manfield based on the day's weather but I sort of need to know in advance. Because if I can't do it this way, I'll need to go up on the bus before that weekend to be sure I can get the car back here for when our friends fly in from the UK on the 25th.
I'm offering hugs from Colapop as a reward :innocent:

You need to make sure it will fit the rim and bike. As MSTRS said. Search the net for that info.
The BT 45 is a very very good tyre on a road bike. Good in the wet and very good in the dry.
Check the price at your local bike shop.
That's my 2cnts worth for the day.

Sounds like eveyone fit & well, stopped by at BP over Christmas/New Year but no one turned up. Will try again soon when work permits. The Viffer now completed 10Km and just had new Metzeler fitted to rear. Having trouble finding someone to balance the tyre. Single side rear the problem, Dukes, BMW's & some Triumphs have same. Anyone got ideas re balancing or Palmy the only option.

I fit my own rubber so get the Rim balanced with no tyre on it. Then just fit the new rubber. Making sure the red dots on the tyres go to the valve. If they have a red dot. If not they are balanced. So that an option and get the local shop to fit the rubber to your balanced rim. Works for me.
Don't think many people are ridding as a group at the moment. Seems we are all snowed under with work. But the fuel cost is impacting along with the all other costs for me.

Well I was keen to ride, but everytime I asked if anyone was up for a ride, no one ever replied, so can't be bothered asking now.
Went past the BP a few times on Sats, no one never there on the day, so I've given up.
Seems HB KB has kinda fizzled out in regards to just going for rides.
Have'nt ridden for 3 weeks, might go on the Palmy ride on Weds, work/chores permitting just to get a good ride in.

Truth be told, digital cameras are wonderful at hiding imperfections, of which my bike has many.
However to give my bike credit where it's due, with a little investment in time and money, it is slowly getting closer to being the gem you describe.
