Well it wasnt me! must have been one of the last to leave the Patangata. Got some good footage on the camera, needs setting up a bit and a few mods done, couldnt see you to much Dale as the fella behind you was getting all the action.
Best ride Ive had for a while, realy enjoyed it, got a fell on the Duke come flying past and another twin.:first:
Hi all, it was the green ZX6 that was behind you BigG the crashed, i just droped the bike off to him, high side by the look of it, lost the back on the moss on the the road he thinks ? broken collar bone ,heaps of bruising and minor tendon damage to his thumb, very sore bloke at the mo, The bike looks alot worse than it is, new pegs, a bit of fairing bracket staighting and plastic welding and it will be all good again,

We came home from BMW's funeral yesterday. Struck the first lot of snow just north of Woodville...quite a bit on HW 50. John has a pic or two on his phone. Quite impresssive!
We were lovely and warm in our cage!

He made it himself Dave. It is a fantastic piece of work. I had a look at it before he welded it up. It is very clever and I have to admit it is hard to imagine how much work goes in to a job like that. It sounds great but is a bit to loud for me. But I could get use to it when this bike is run in and I can pass him. :spanking:
Yep, sounds good too:msn-wink:
Sure does. Did you like the sound of it the other night when it zipped past you?

Went for a ride to town and ran in to a black SV1000 parked in a shed.
Had da Mooo on the back for the first time. Headed up the Toepaw road for a run so da Mooo could see what da bike goes like. She had a big grin and likes the bike. Likes the twin thing as well. Note to self. Stay above 4rpm or wife smiles a lot. Anyway we went up to the top of the big hill, you know were da wind mills were going to go. All da snow was gone. Bugger it.
My fuel light was flashing and had been for some time. They told me it had a full tank of gas and I assumed it should do 300k but no. So we had to ride for home. Got back to the mobil in Bay View and put 16.25 litres in. So it didn’t have too much to spare. Anyway da cook loves it and I think we are going to have fun on it. The two weeks down South in January will be good on it. :apint: :niceone:
Just need more time to run it in. No thank you I don't need any help to run it in. :bleh:

Its not going on any finance or anything. Hard earned cash here.
It is a good deal. And im only 6 months off my full licence.
What would be a better buy for myself? A normal gsxr1000 k7 with leo vince pipes and 9000kms on the clock ($13k), or a special edition gsxr1000 k7 with standard pipes and 30000kms on the clock ($12k).

Learn to ride properly before getting a bike that has more horsepower than you know how to handle - and get your full licence before you upgrade.

Ive taken that into consideration and thats why i want a k7 thou. It has the power modes and i can easily just put it into '600 mode' until im ready to go upto the next step, that way i can teach myself different power, but on the same bike. I see it as the best learning curve to get upto a thou with confidence.
But in saying that theres an awesome 05 zx6r that i want too. So it just depends on whether i sell my bike soon or not.

I have access through work to the 2 Met Service weather stations up SH5. One of them measures road temperature and does a prediction on the likelyhood of ice forming. Wont be any good for Sat as I will still be in Hamilton, not returning now until Sunday. Will work on getting access to it from my home PC for the future.
Thanks for the video clip BigG, didnt know I was riding that slow!
Hey you lot..............
Sounds like a fair bit been happening over the last week :niceone:
I had a great trip down to the Westport over Qs birthday
Bloody awesome
Bet the weather down and on way back xept rain and crap sludgey roads from Te Horo to dannevegas ( not to mention 9 blue bottles all with their spy radars )
That was on the return so me head wasnt functioning anyway Ha
Rode with 3 dudes on Sat arvo they were heading to Blackball for ????
And on the return rode abck to Muchison with 3 others who had been to the Brass ( Adventure bikes - Beemer,Ktms )
It was weird as the road was crispy ice in parts and then you would run through fog - Buller gorge and Inangahua to Murchison
Dude on Beemer would race ahead then get redy for video/pics as we trundled past covered in ice and then go past to repeat it again Ha !
Caught up with Manawatu mob who had also been to Blackball???
They were staggering out of the Murchison Hotel trying to scrape the ice off their rides before setting off back home
Even had an Iron Horse Chopper that was cutting it Ha
Its a bikers dream down South and Im guna revisit soon
No unlawfull encounters at all down south - They all appeared Wely north
Not sure if I be riding this weekend as have to catchup etc
But who knows plans could change people !
Might try and join you G. I know you will wait for me. Still got a lot of running in to do on this SV. Taupo would be a nice ride if the day is good. Cold I bet.

Hey guys/gals, just thought I'd mention for those that don't know.
I check & issue bike WOFs. I'm an AVI, Authorised Vehicle Inspector.
I'm not touting for work as we've got shit loads, and its really just something I like doing, plus any garage will tell you.......you don't make money by just issuing WOFs.
But have done a few bikes this week, and a couple of guys have commented how its good to get the bike checked by another biker.
I agree, thats why I added bikes to my car AVI.
I have no issues with noise, its bike condition and safety for me, and I only do it to help other bikers who are sick of some of the bullshit some places do in regards to bikes.
Plus its good for me with 3 bikes needing WOFs.
20 bucks, or 25 if you've got a Harley.:buggerd::lol:.......naa, kidding.

It's not the Road......:calm:
NO it’s not the road.
It’s about riding to your own limits. I use to chase Dave all around the country and had a ball doing it at speed. Then as Dave picked up the pace I realised I couldn’t keep up and I didn’t want to take the risk. I also understand that fast riders need to be out and going at the speed that gives them the buzz.
It is simple really. If you are going to chase a fast group of riders grow some balls and ride at your own pace. This group is great company and look after each other. I saw you stop 3 times to regroup in the short time I was with you on the weekend. As long as everyone knows where the ride is going we will all end up at the same place.
I accept that I can’t ride at the speed of the fast guys/girls and can’t afford the recovery time if I crash cos I would loose the business, and I am an old fart that will take a long time to heal, so I scoot along at the back and still have a great ride. Come on people if we keep fallin off we will have no one to ride with. Grow some balls and do what you feel happy doing. Go flat out if you want to or slot in to the middle or scoot along at the back. Ride to your ability not your ego
Makes no difference at the end of the day but just get out and ride as a group of Hawkes Bay riders.

You are absolutely right - that is what I have always done - and I'm not always in the front couple - depends on how I feel on the day too. I have ridden Middle Road for 10+ years and its great, but I have known many who have come off too.
I agree, just get out there and ride to your ability and yeah, we try to re-group, (I know what its like to be at the back too)

Wise words Steve yer old bugga.:niceone:
I reckon this is a pretty cool group we all ride with now, and speaking for myself, I love giving it heaps and riding briskly (But never exceeding 100 kph). But I also sometimes like taking it easy, depends on how I feel, and mood etc.
And its great how we regroup and know where we're going.
As you say, each to their own pace, and thats how it should be.
Also, like you, being an old bugga, (but not as old as you:lol:) I feel the aches and pains of over 30 fractures and getting real close to my orthopaedic surgeon in the last few years, that sometimes I hold back a bit and am aware of recovery periods of injuries, not just on the body but work.
But, all that aside, aint it great to ride our roads here and ride with folk with similar outlooks on bikes...............:2thumbsup
I'm having the time of my life.

"Thanks Dale,
Your comments have been forwarded to Higgins for inspection and action.
For your info Kahuranaki and Middle Roads are roads that feature extensively on the next LTCCP programme so over the next 5 years you should see considerable improvement to width and alignment.

Les,
Just an observation that there is starting to be a bit of loose chip on both of these roads coming from this seasons reseals. Bit of a worry on the motorbike when you are committed to a line.
One thing you cant do much about I guess is the lichen growing in some of the shady areas. A rider in a group I was with Saturday before last crashed on a corner in Middle Road when he hit some. Broken collar bone, bike etc. Ambo and police in attendance.
Cheers

Most likely to be quialifying/extended practice on the sat with one race in the arvo, then two rounds of racing on day two, usual morning start times i guesss, thats assuming they use same format as last year
you should see considerable improvement to width (this is good ;) ) and alignment (:weep:).

Would be nice to see you on a ride soon, when you can that is. As you know there has been a discussion on here about the rides and it is the same one we had 2 years ago. It is great to ride with our locals as we all have lots in common and bikes would be the main thing. Our love of riding and stuff. So lets all get over the fast/slow thing and do what ever works for us as individuals and meet at the same place and enjoy a few hours of each others company. I know, …. some think this is just bull shit and toughen up but if we can pull the two riding groups together with out any animosity lets do that and enjoy rides with more people. I think that is happening with what I saw last week. Bring on the Goat track this weekend. Whooo whooo

Is there any plans of travelling to Taupo for the Track Day on Saturday 20 June by the "HB Crew"?
We'll be marshalling at racing in Manfield.

 They go so fast at 5500 rpm. Must get a handle on that one. I only touched 6k once. I recon this SV is going to be fun but I don't think I will see much of that R1. It looks fast when it is sitting still.

So you looked at it all the way home did you W? You will have no problems keepin up on the Gixxer but I fear the SV is going to run in the back of the pack. But I like the ride it gives. Well done Rob. Nice bike.

Purchased a tail tidy from T/Me for the SV. Came off an 06 and will go on yours. Tui. Stripped the SV and found it wouldn’t fit. Put the SV back together. Finished it by 11. Got the gear on and waited to hear you all go past. Didn’t hear nothing so headed up the road. Hit the hill and the rain started pissin down so went home and worked on the boys bucket with him. Got it up and running so we had a great boys avo.
