I would be wary of putting your home address on the internet guys.
It is also IMHO, really silly to quote a post with an addy it, because even if the OP deletes his address it is still there for all to see.
Donald, get rid of your (mis) quote too, eh?
We don't have the Mods butting in to our thread, because we are all reasonable adults...if you can't be reasonable and mature, find another play house....

I reckon a real tour might be in order...a sort of practice run for the Anzac bash.
We may have a new guy too...just moved here from Tokoroa and can't find our 'legendary' roads by himself on his R6.

John only has fuel issues in other people's bikes or when he is responsible for filling someone else's bike.
Don't you remember poor Zac being stranded on the Napier -Taupo Rd with fuel issues?
And, yes, the sun at Whirinaki Beach was glorious....I love the beach..it speaks to my soul.
I really enjoyed my rdie today. And the company was superb  Pity I couldn't keep up with you guys. But at least I was ahead of John, eh? and Dooly? Yeah, I beat them both!!! Not that it was a race or anything...

Another great day for a ride.
I'm off with the Triumph group today.
The Napier lot are meeting at Breakers at 9.30 as usual, but the rides in CHB so I'm going straight there to Mobil Ypuk meet at 10.30. The Napier lot will leave from Breakers.
If anyone wants to come like some did last month, I'm leaving my place 10am at the latest and heading down HW50 then across to Ypawa.

And that Ladies and Gentlemen....was a awesome ride. To have all those Riders (both local and visitors) on that road, in that weather, at that pace...... was sensational. The Duchess and I were in a local Fish & Chip Shop getting our Tea to have down at the beach last light....when an elderly lady sitting next to us said..."I see your living the dream"....after a day like that, and in company like that,... the only reply I could think of was...'Yep, we sure are' ...it's just amazing, the number of people that come up to you and say and things like that.... or the classic one is...'Oh. I wish I'd done something like that when I was younger'......so thanks to all you guys that made that a special day...you all rock, big time :woohoo:

Hey, did you hear me toot today?:Pokey:
Had a first time experience today.
Hurled in me freakin helmet!
A few of us went on a blast on our Triumphs, down CHB, Takapau, Wimbledon, and other places I'd never been too, culminating in lunch at the Porangahau pub.
Awesome ride.
Nice friendly pub too.
Had a feed of fish, I was the only one with that.
They must of dragged an old seagull off the beach and cooked it up as by the time we saddled up I was feeling crook.
Felt real queasy on the ride to Ypuk, could'nt keep up the pace they were doing as I found myself losing concentration and dry heaving. Was getting a bit disorientated.......then all of a sudden I had to stop real fast.
Almost got the helmet off in time......:doctor::(
Oh well chalk that one up as another first!:apint:
Dooly, bet that smells real good!
Complain to the food place. Do you still feel sick, or was it just not a nice meal? It could be food poisoning, and in that case, you are entitled to complain to them. I would.

Felt fine 10 seconds after it hit the deck.
Must remember, no fish next time!
Strange...Fish can be a fairly dangerous food to work with.
But not always. Shellfish is extremely dangerous.
Most fish you can eat raw, completely raw, but half cooked will make you ill.
Glad I don't eat the shit. I just gotta make sure the people that do don't end up sick.

hXc is right Dooly. You must complain...we expect food places to serve food that is fit for consumption. Could be any number of things wrong that caused it, and they can't fix it if they don't know about it.
Have you been sick since?

No been fine since, straight after I dumped it.
Could also be the fat as it was quite greasy, and I can't tolerate real greasy stuff nowdays.
I eat a lot of fish and it did'nt smell funny or off, so just one of those things.
The pub looked clean and the dining area was professional and tidy.
I'd go back again.
The good thing was that I told the guys as we left that I felt crook and if I stopped, carry on as I'd be hurling, but they waited..........a distance away, I might add.

If you are in the bay on Sunday you are all welcome. Just give us an idea of numbers so Mary can cook the amount of food required. We are on the Napier Wairoa rd.
I was planning a mystery ride but if we can work in with you then let me know.
Due to our work load and many commitments, including hosting the Hawkes Bay round on the 4x4 National champs on the farm over Easter, we are unable to ride with you on Saturday.

You are referring to (one of) Speights Alehouse, Shed 2, Thirsty Whale, Gintrap or Hepsetmooch. All in a row, just where you describe. All worth a crack.

Da Muffin run is on. We will gather at the BP Taradale Rd at 1.30 on Sunday 16th. Will leave at 1.35 for a group ride. Yep a group ride. We have not done one of them for a while. Ride rules are as follows,
Lead rider ( wasp27 ) knows the rout and will lead.
I am the Tailend Charily and will stay at the back.
The rider who finds themselves 2nd in line will stop at the intersections and show the rest of us where Wasp27 went.
They will stay at that point till I have gone past.
Then you are to pass me and let me stay at the back.
Simple aye.
Yes a slow ride this time and please bring as many bike riders as possible. I will call Moo before we leave da BP and let her know how many riders we have and she can get the baking done and the coffee and tea made.
She is getting the Easter eggs for da Muffins as I type. Mmmmmmmmm
Also we are hosting the Hawkes Bay round of the 4X4 national champs her on the farm over Easter weekend. I will post more details later but from what I have seen there is plenty of advertising for this event around town. Hope some of you can make it.

And if you achieve that NO you can’t. I had a feeling Rob was a bad influence on you. You did stick to the 100 kmh speed limit last weekend when you took your brother out for a ride with the HB group?

He dropped Martin off with Jo before he went on the ride, and due to an unforeseen hold-up with my brakes, I didn't get to keep a fatherly eye on him.
The bike did sound gorgeous coming down to the hairpin under WhitePineBush tho :niceone: while I sat by the waterfall carpark trying to figure out how I used so much gas....

Hi there
Really off topic, but I thought I would ask here first :2thumbsup
Does anyone know anyone that is fund-raising with dry firewood?
I would like to buy some and would rather support a club/charity if I can first
Call or PM me if you can help
Cheers Scott
(will also consider anyone you know that is selling it that may not be fund-raising)

Grub
13th March 2008, 20:02
Hey guys, you know the Herceptin ride that's just done the country ending at Parliament on Wednesday? That's the one Nasty did (clever girl)
Well Maxine the organiser (and hubby Kerry) bought their own HiLux Diesel along as support vehicle towing a heavy enclosed bike trailer. After 2,000km the head gasket shat itself in Napier and the vehicle is still there, they live in Nelson and had to go home on their non-refundable ferry tickets on Thursday.
I'm not sure what I can do except offer them a bed and a pillion for her husband Kerry up to the Bay on Saturday. Anyone have any ideas that might help them? Somebody mentioned a roadside head-gasket service that exists but I can't find any reference to it. Know of anything like that in the Bay?
Here's the story http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1472295&postcount=67
Whatever, I hope we can see some of you on the waterfront after 1:15 Saturday when we stop for lunch on the Great NI Loop Ride

I can't help, Grub, but good luck to them.
I'm sure someone will be able to.
Dooly
14th March 2008, 07:39
I have'nt heard of a roadside head gasket service, and I can't imagine it being viable in his circumstance.
If a head gasket has supposedly blown in a Hilux diesel, you can bet for sure the head is cracked or bent and will need machine shop work or a new cylinder head. Plus all the other related expenses. Its no small job either.
Sure one could throw a head gasket on, but it wont last and in this day and age of guarranteeing workmanship, its not viable to do on a diesel.
The cost of such a job is quite high, and the Hilux diesels frequently have this problem.
We probably do one a month on these. Plus my own Hilux did the same thing!
As said in the link by Grub, the only real thing is too get it to Wellington for him, but then theres always a cost.
I know the manager of vehicle salvage firm here in Hastings well, and we frequently do 'deals' for each other as they are just down the road from us.
But the 'deals' are only local work.
I can ask him if he could cut a good price if I know the details etc to transport it.

Did a job on a Surf last week, same problem, needed a new head, plus gaskets, head bolts, machine shop work, radiator clean etc etc etc etc etc........$2400.

You guys rock ... thanks for the heads-up, it sounds like lotsa munny - cruel isn't it, especially when they did so much good selfishly. I have been told by PM that someone is trying to organise to help get it to Welly - they'd just rather keep it offline at the moment so I'll keep you all posted.
If a head gasket has supposedly blown in a Hilux diesel, you can bet for sure the head is cracked or bent and will need machine shop work or a new cylinder head. .
Yeah kind of makes sense doesn't it, they blew a couple of radiator hoses, one in Otorohanga on the morning of day 2 and the other in Auckland on day 3 so either the overheating has caused the head to warp or the blown gasket was pressurising the system causing the hoses to go. Either way, sounds expensive.
Hope to see some of you at least at lunch tomorrow

You can use it anytime. Its about finding somewhere to mount it so that it dosnt vibrate to much. The camera is a waterproof camera. So the mic is covered and you tend to hear a muffled noise of the bike.

 While out moving steers this morning I realised I have made a mistake. I need to correct my mistake. :Police:
The 4x4 rally is on Saturday not Sunday.
My mistake and yes I should have known that as we are hosting it  but I have little to do with the event other than provide the land. We had it in the diary as Sunday and have had it in there for months. Never mind it is on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a gate charge but it should be a great day out.
We riding on Monday?
To assume is to make an ass of us both. I assumed as Sunday is the norm for the 4x4 club events we go to.

Maybe a semi-dense foam rather than rubber and tie it down moderately tight with zip ties like R-dog did. I agree, reckon it turned out pretty well.

Finally got to the puter to debrief on our weekend ride. Why is it that work always gets in the way of fun?
I just want to express my personal appreciation of you guys all waiting around patiently for us on Saturday. I stuffed up the timing because of fuel stops and we needed extra ones because the Virago only has a 200km range.
We were 45mins late and had no expectation of you being patient enough to hang around for that long. I'm glad you did, lunch and company at the Thirsty Whale was great, especially when Yungatart mentioned a birthday which reminded me it was my sister's and I hadn't rung her :o
The ride was awesome as always, what a nice playground to have at your back door! I just love that run to Tarawera because it is mostly open and flowing, unlike the Takas. Meeting you guys was a highlight of the day and vindicates our decision to go to Taupo via the Bay. We are definatley going to do that again! (on time of course)

Had a good ride to Palmy today.
As usual Anza was full with bikers, that place must sure turn over the cash.
They had a few new Goldwings in stock, man those things are massive, and the stuff on them!
I thought riding a Triumph Rocket this week was quite a mission due to its size, but one of those Goldwings with every extra must be a real act.
They had a new compressor there, just a Dyna, but a screaming eagle one, 53000 godanged bucks!!!!
Plenty of bacon around today, especially a mufti Honda Accord, about 3 yrs old, gold/silver colour. Pulling up people on our way there and back. Fortunately we got the headlight flash warning on the return trip, so none of our cash went into Aunty Helen's going into opposition party fund. A few marked cars too.
Called into the Cudby's for a brew on the way home, nice SV, neat stubby muffler too.

Hi Tart. We did thank you. The trip up was slowish cos we had to see how the GPX was going to run. It seems to be good so we picked the pace up a bit on the way home. It ran well.
Had wet roads most of the way up but no rain. Stopped at 286 for breaky. That was good and then meet Mrs Wasp on the way home. All in all it was a great ride.

We are off to Hamilton to pick up a car tomorrow so we are out for rides here tomorrow. But I recon the ride to Hamilton will be choice. :devil2:

Had a great ride today.
2 of us did the Matapiro/Sherenden/Taihape Rd loop, then thru Puketapu/Clive/Havelock, then Kahuraniki rd to Patangata for a cold one.
About a dozen bikes there.
A lot of resealing between Elsthorpe & Patangata, took it easy but nearly got caught out by loose chip on a few corners and had to stand it up once.
And no signs indicating loose chip!
Might even hit the road on Sunday, missus is away all day, gotta do something.....

Hi Dooly. Back on a bike after many long years without. Even the missus enjoys it on the back. New to this site & trying to hook up with some Hawkes Bay bikers for rides in the weekends (or Whenever) when I/we can make it. If anyones interested let us know. Haven't been up here many years so keen to learn new rides about the place.

Gidday.
We all usually try and go for a ride every Saturday but recently everyone seems out of sync due to other activities or whatever, so some of us tend to ride with a few of the group or others. Usually if anyone here is going for a ride they'll post up when, where etc.
Myself, if it looks like no one is going to be at our usual meeting place, I wont bother going over to Napier as I'm 40kms away, so I'll head off my wayish.
But keep an eye here, you'll hook up ok with us I'm sure.

Needed a long ride on Saturday, left early with Johnno, to Patangata via Main Rd & Te Aute Trust Rd, Ypuk up Poronghau Rd then via Blackhead Rd stopped at Pub for pit stop, then Wimbleton via Weber to Dannevirke, HW 50 to home.
Road from Wimbleton to Dannevirke was a blast. Just watch for sheep, cattle & sheepdogs though. 304 Km round trip.

Whooo whoooo. Now that’s a ride. Left Bay view at 7am and had near on no traffic till we got to Cambridge. Unbelievable. One cop in Taupo other than that the X 50 was quiet on the way up. It was just premo. Great trip home but the 100 K was hard as I followed Moo in her car. But with a few diversions here and there it turned out well.
Nice to see MSTRS, Tart and Team Cudby coming home as I came back from W’s. Did ya have a good day at the track?
Welcom to K/B Backinthesaddle. :2thumbsup What Dooly said is how it is at the moment but we will get back to riding as a group soon. Just look here each day and see what on. Might have to make an effort to get the group out as a group.
Back in the Gixxer mist.
Oh, is Wasp27 going to tell people what he did yesterday? You rode what W? and did you like it?
