Good ride today, nice piece of country side out to Porongahau. Thanks to Tony and Tina for the hospitality. Nice little ranch you've got there.
Stopped at the Classic Club for a quick one on the way home. Colder there than riding at 100kph.

Very nice new Holden in stunning blue paint job seen today at Park Island sports ground. Looks like SS or Clubsport, but BEWARE because inside lurks flashing lights and BACON with a ticket book.

Just finished feeding the cows. Man that is one serious frost.
We have fog down to the house now so it is going to be cold for a few hours yet. The boys and girls doing the rally sprint on our road are going to be pissed off for the morning runs if it doesn’t lift. :shit:
Not so much fun in the fog me thinks……..
Get out and ride. I recon the :sunny: will be out by 11.

We had a lovely ride down HW 50 with Xan...thanks for your company, dude! I peeled off at Waipawa and headed home, cos I'm a soft old Nana, and I was toooooo :cold:, leaving John and Xan to ride to Patangata. I'm guessing they went a bit faster after that:innocent:
CH, I beg to differ, if I go on a group ride then I want to ride with the group, not see their backsides heading off into the distance at warp speed, only to meet up again at the 'destination'. I may as well just ride on my own, if that is what it is about.
My fault I guess, for being so slow, but, hey, its not a race and there is no prize for being first (or last) to the destination.

Ya wot? Me? Speed? That'll be the sunny Sunday...
Nah...I'm more about the Pace. You really should make the effort, get your 'L' and come for a ride. You'll learn heaps, enjoy yourself, and discover that it isn't 'all about the speed'.
If that is what some like...good on them...who's it hurting? Just not really for me.

Yeah, that is what I was trying to say. I agree, it is nice to ride as a group, and we do ride like that too. But at the end of the day, it is better for everyone to ride at their own pace and arrive safely then to not arrive at all. But have fun doing it. No one says you need to ride fast or not.

Just come back from up the Taupo road. Ice on the Te Harato hill just before the summit kiosk. North side. Still frozen A bike down and another parked next to it. Looked like a TL1000s on the tow truck at the kiosk when we came home but I really don’t know one bike from another. Both riders were standing up with Police parked either side as we went north. We went North about 1pm and had lunch at Tarawera. Really great food at a great price. Had a chat to the owners and found a lot of history going back 3 generations from people we new in common. Great people, great food and they will see us again soon.
Hope you all got out today and enjoyed the roads. Lotsa bacon and nearly went deaf with the beeper thing.

Got to agree big guy.... The Tarawera is certainly a different (better) place to visit now. The new owners are a lovely couple...very obliging, if you dont see it on the menu......just ask... they'll soon make it, and very reasonably priced too. Highly recommended, they should do well in the summer with the local bikers. The bike on the wrecker at the Summit was a black Firestorm.... hope he wasn't too hurt. As Steve says gotta be real careful on that run from the Summit Kiosk north down to the bottom of the passing lane....still frozen through the top section at 1.30pm today. The ride back home was awesome, the new section through Dillons Hill is shaping up nicely....roll on summer:sunny:

Check tomorrow's paper, someone on a moped got cleaned up on the intersection of SH2/Napier Rd last night. Made the Haumoana FB callout, 4WD with bike underneath it, rider status 1, nothing to do except block the road off & await the serious crash unit by the time we got there. Hope the rider pulls through.

Must be more than hardy to deal with the cold on a naked bike. I left Havelock North at 7.45am Saturday heading to Rotorua and coming down to the Mohaka Bridge the visor was icing up. Heated grips were on max and was thankful for the fairing. Had a good run back in the afternoon and two HP were too slow to activate their instant on switch.

No, wasnt Dave. That other name doesn't ring any bells.... still hope they weren't too badly hurt..... the thing that pisses me off is that section of road is notorious at this time of year for ice and they hadn't put any grit down or posted any warning signs until after a spill at 1.30pm. There was plenty of other sections of road that had grit scattered all over the road and no signs of any ice. The copper at the scene told us that they had called for roadies to come and lay grit up the southbound lane where the bike had gone down....better late than never.....I suppose. If the ice dont get ya....the grit probably will:brick:

Mean machine huh ??? hears the song think as sung by Queen
The machine of a dream
Such a mean machine
With the pistons a pumpin
And the disc rotors all gleam
When Im holdin your bars
All I hear is your gear
When my hands on your grease gun
Oh its like a disease son
Im in love with my bike
Gotta feel for my wheels
Get a grip on my clip ons like
Such a thrill ,better than a trike
Told my wife Ill have to forget her
Rather buy me a new fuelinjector
So she made tracks sayin
This is the end now
Bikes dont talk back
Theyre just two wheeled friends now
When Im holdin your bars
All I hear is your gear
When Im cruisin in overdrive
Dont have to listen to no run of the mill talk jive
Im in love with my bike
Gotta feel for my motorcycle
Im in love with my bike

A word of warning. W and I went for a ride after work tonight. Had plans of a fast lap up to the lake and beyond. Saw 3 :Police:, one in a drive way in Bay View giving a ticket, he had a good look at our bikes as we went past. Not sure why as we had him on the detector long before he could see us so had the speed down. Maybe he likes bikes.
Anyway we headed up the hill and ran in to wet roads half way up the Napier side of the Devils elbow. Went over the top and down to the big bend on the far side. I could smell diesel on the road. The road was still wet from rain. As we got to the lake the diesel spill got worse. It was so bad around the lake it was running down the road side drains. The whole of the North bound lane was covered in the stuff with the corners completely coated in diesel. We gave up just before the store and headed for home. That road will be slippery for weeks after rain. Take care on it. It is like riding on ice. We got down to car speeds in some places……<_<…………..

"Nowadays, a motorcycle sidecar might not arouse the same ecstasy as it used to bikes in early days, but the latest vehicle by Francois Knorreck is a sidecar with difference that gives an entirely new definition to the sidecars.
Dubbed "Snaefell," the 1000cc Laverda motorcycle has three exhausts, and its sidecar offers a luxury ride in comparison to regular sidecars.
The designer has employed different parts of a Kawasaki 1000RX and a number of cars to accomplish the motorcycle sidecar, which took 10 years and nearly 15,000 Euros to combine biking and luxury car ride in a single vehicle."

Tyre warmers???Hope youre not using them on a classic bike.Back in my day we didn't have tyre warmers, blah, blah. We were tough. We got one warm up lap and then took it easy for the first lap or 2, then go nuts. Or run em at low pressure for a 5 lap race and hope they heat up quick, as they slide after 8 or 10 laps. Welcome. There is usually at least one ride a weekend. Saturdays leaving Mobil Tadarale Road usually at 1.30pm unless something special organised. Then there is the Classic Club Ride (all welcome) and then the Burger Fuel Ride last Sunday of the month leaving BF napier at 11am (from memory). Age group? Mostly mature riders  Just keep an eye on the posts in this thread to find when and where.

Spend the extra and get a Pilot Road 2 next time Big G, worth every cent and in the end very good value for money.

What an awesome ride today Ashurst/Pahiatua/Mangatainoka/Pongaroa.
Left at 11, home at 5.45, good day.
Hope the team that stay at Pourere have a good night and us 3 who came home had a good ride back via HW50
I think it was barely 30 mins from Dannevirke to my house.
And all without exceeding 100.
Bloody Yanis leading us astray!!!!

Yo BigG, when I got back, my tire looked worse than yours! Don't understand it, must have been a crook tire, was pilot power, so not the same, I no understand! Good ride there alright and a good one back if a little lonely, you guys did a good job of pig sweeping for me thank you! Robert swapped both the front springs for lighter ones and re-did the preload and rebound for the front and adjusted the preload and stuff for the rear, said he will put a lighter spring in the rear shock, f.o.c. if I send it up to him, but was lots better on the way back, so all good! Thanks to Stewarts Electrical for the hospitality suite. So all in all a goodun!

Yep what he said. What a great ride down. Followed by a good days racing. However a few bikes got dropped. Gary had a first place qualifier. Well done that man. Followed by a lowside drop in the first race that ended with a third. Again a good result considering things. Then a win to end the day. Just great. He still leads the street stock class. Bring on the two daya on da 26th September.
Now back to da ride home. It was a cracker. Nice to have someone else take the lead on 50. Good pace Mr W. Was the first run for the SV that challenged it. Seems to like it but the suspension is crap and makes for a wild ride down hill in the lumpy bits at speed. I do miss the Gixxer for that riding.
Aye G You are a very lucky man :( to have got that tyre home mate. It was a good thing we set a moderate pace and prevented you from doing any harm to yourself. You need to thank Mr W for looking after your Yamahahaha bits and not just blasting away in to the distance. Send the tyre back and see if you can get a discount or replacement on it. The wear is not even for one. One side looks well worn but not down to the canvas and the other is shagged. You do not ride “Soft” by any means mate.
Thanks for a great day everyone.:apint: Cheers

Looks like you all had a good day Dale. Nice to catch up this morning. Even though your one is better quality I feel happy having my own back. Don't have to worry about damaging it. Sorry about the dirt on yours. The sheep go in the garden this morning and knocked all the Mooos pots over so I have to hide the damage as I left the house and I was in my riding gear. Think I have got away with it  Cheers mate

Cheers for the company today guys. Excellent ride. That trip home was a ripper though there seemed to be a bit of a head wind for some reason. With no fairing I was having to hang on to them there bars. Managed to pry my hands off the grips when I got home but still having trouble wiping the grin off.
Bike seemed to be running a bit rich on the way back. I needed to duck into Hastings to fill up to get me home. Strange that .....:whistle:
