I'll have to pass tommorrow as well. Got to spend the day doing some vehicle and horse float maintinance, plus usual weekend stuff.
Drove up to Auckland today, brought a decent tow vehicle for the missus's float. Just need to go through a few things on it.
If you'r riding this way, you're welcome for a pitstop.

Hi All,
I note Patrick has not posted yet so I will. We had a great day down in Fielding.
First things first. Thanks to the sponsors for all you have done for him. He would have struggled to get out on the track with out your support. You guys rock. And to Wasp27 for the steel, sticky bits and welding wire and info. You saved the day.
OK Speights_bud went down yesterday and stayed with friends. We missed the qualifying runs as we had work this morning. We arrived about 11.00 am to find he qualified 9th. Had problems with the gear changer. He fixed that by the time he went out for the first race. After a restart because of a dismount, not Paddy, he was impressive to watch. That poor little bike just gets up and goes. A commendable 3rd in the first race.
We had a look over the bike and after a chain adjustment and check over things we filled in a few hours till lunch. The street stocks were first up after lunch. Out they went. I would have to complement Gareth ( can't recall the name of the business, Tart you would know as he did your bike ) for the job he did on the exhaust on this bike. It has a unique sound and it is sweet under full noise. A warm up lap and on to the grid. Away they went. A bit of a squeeze down the end of the first straight and they dropped in to line. Paddy was running 6th as they went in to the third corner and looked a little uneasy. By the time he came around to the start finish he was back on the ball and smooth as. He made up three places and ended the race in third place.
So two third placing = third in class for the day
Was great to see one of our own doing so well. Congratulations young fella. Considering you have never raced anything other than a bucket you had a very successful day. I would like to add a note here. He wore the knee of the leather out holding the bike up in the corners. I think Knee sliders will be a good investment next month. Maybe middle road has been good for you Speights_bud.
Time for sleep for this old man. Roll on next months round.
speights_bud
18th August 2007, 23:21
Cheers for filling everyone in Gixxer,
Twas a awesome day alright, the gpx definatly stunned quite a few people,
comments such as "GPX's are NOT meant to go like that" weren't unfamiliar.
But i must say that without the support from you guys (esp wasp27) i probably wouldn't have made it to round 4 ontime.
So he's my brief rundown on the day.
Missed the scrub in session, still unloading bike etc from van and doing rider registration stuff.
Qualifying:
Having missed the srub in session and being a complete manfield 'virgin' as such qualifying was my first chance to try learn the track. Did first lap under yellow as warm up, then second lap was held up through 'splash' by a slower rider before he was blue flagged and had to give me right of way, at which i completed my first and fastest lap for the session, due to the next lap being messed around with a black flag waved and noone understanding why, so everyone pulled off the track (Black was for two riders who were not meant to be circulating at the time)
Qualifying therefore left me with a laptime around 2 min 52 sec from memory and sitting in 9th position on the grid. (My fastest lap for the day was 2min 28, a whopping 24 sec's faster than qualifying)
However as Gixxer 4 ever said, in Race one there were several bikes down and i managed to poke my way up the pack a bit and finish third, six places ahead of where i started. so pretty happy considering that before starting the race i'd only done 3 laps of the track.
During race two i also managed a much better start and holding the inside line got towards the front of the pack through turn one and battled it out with one or two others, my only real advantage being going late on the brakes and riding the bike hard over on my knee.
This was a new experience for me, although 'getting my knee down' isn't all that new, actually using it to push the bike back up and transfering the weight to control the front end tucking in having an actual effect on how the bike stays upright was quite exciting, definatly going to have to sort some knee sliders out. Needless to say my leathers now need re-stitching and some patches on the knees.
Race 2 resulted in another third place. (Took out 3rd pos overall for streetstock)
So all in all a great day out, looking forward to next month and the oppourtunity to ride Team Cudby's 600 over the two day event.
Big thanks to everyone who has helped me get started Esp my sponsors:
EVL Custom systems -Exhaust system
ISG Signs -Decals/numbers
We-Can Engineering -Use of workshop
Hope to see you all on sat for the next ride if i've converted to ninja back to road legal by then :D:D

Unfortunately my Nana is in hospital so I will be heading straight home on Sunday as I won't be visiting tomorrow as I have too much to do. Its nothing too major, just a skin Graft but I have to visit since I'm the only grandchild here. We are hoping that they leave her in till Monday as Grandad is not well either and Nana needs complete bed rest for ten days but if they let her out early then I may have to go and help out at their house, which may change my plans for tomorrow too. Will keep ya posted. If I can't get down to tiko before dark is someone able to pick me and my bike up?

Hey Everyone, for the newbies, we are currently keeping everyones details like phone numbers, addresses, email addresses and ICE contacts (if you wish to provide these details) in a database that only Gixxer 4 Ever and I have access to. So if you wish to provide us with your details then we can keep you in touch with anything that is going on outside of KB or even when it goes down we can still organise a ride (Not saying it will happen again though). The choice is yours so if you wish to then please pm me and I will put these details in the Handy Dandy Notebook/Database.

Hi ppl.
Change of plans for Mary and I. Due to my work we need to be home around 2 -2.30. So we are going to ride early and head to Patangata for lunch. Then home. So if you want to join us great but if you have planned to ride at 1.30 best you do that. Sorry to miss the H/B ride but 1.30 just doesn't give us time to get the brake feeding set for the cows tomorrow or check the Heifers etc before dark or church. So we will leave here at 11.00. Fuel in Bay View at 11.15. If you see this W&D and want to come along we will pass your place at 11.30ish. If you want to come we will try and go passed the airport at 11.30. As long as we do not get held up at the BP Bay View. just join in if you want. Cheers

Well, while you guys headed off to parts unknown at a somewhat faster pace than I would be comfortable, Sc and I went riding with Micro as our mentor.
Headed off to do the nice twisties out on the Taihape road, only to find cyclists by the mile. Change of plan and off down Swamp Rd instead, with Micro stopping us occasionally to offer advice. Unfortunately the cyclists were on all the roads we were on, but they were mostly considerate, so all was good.
We met up with the fast boys at ths Puketapu pub for a drink, nice to see you Grumpy! Your wee girl is beautiful, BTW. Thanks also for your support for hXc and Mack.
We then headed back to our place to grab some clothes, food and bevvies to take down to Team Cuby's place...what a ride...drama after drama! I will say no more on that tho:innocent:
Eventually, Micro and I headed off alone in the dark for my first night ride.
Thanks so much for riding with me Chris, and for keeping such a steady pace. I enjoyed it heaps, apart from freezing my tits off!..or was that my hair!! Was fantastic!
Today we headed off home up HW50..the weather is just so superb for riding, and had a wonderful weekend of riding!
Bring on summer!!!

The trip to Tarawera was great. That road rocks. Open sweeping corners that allow you to lean and roll on the gas with out a care in the world. WooooHooooo. The young fella had a ball. What a grin. It was a bit disappointing to be the only sports bike in the car park.:gob: But we got over it. Had some fun with the bacon on the road. Long story but they were sitting on the hill videoing cars and collecting tax for crossing the white line. Unbelievable. I won't say what I think of this policing................. Wankers.

COL!!!!! Please don;t think that the VT doing what it did had anything to do with you!!! You did the most amazing thing for me and that was to get me a registered and warranted bike. Ok so there were things that were wrong with it but it definitely wouldn;t have had anything to do with what you had done for me. The bike was crap before I gave it to you and I was aware it was a mission to have it completely finished.

How many ponies you got in that rocket? Any idea what the weight of the bike is?
Did they remap the fuel and balance the air intakes? What else?
All you need now are Carbon rims and you will be looking at 320 plus.
Nice to see people doing this sort of stuff. Gota love pushing the boundaries.
Good luck with the speed runs. You might have to go out and get some practise in. Maybe back to the faster groups for a few weeks :) Good stuff Rob. What date is the drags and where? Might try and get away for a day and have a look.

Na just a hi flow air filter and powercommander, remaped the fuel/air to the pipes and filter. Huge difference at this stage and i havent even looked at giving it a heave. One thing i have noticed is i arnt pulling as many revs at 100kmph. Probably dropped about 300rpm.

When Mstrs pulled over on the ride on Sat it was so i could tuck in behind him and get some mentoring for the twisties re gear changes etc. Turns out I am in the right gear, but change down too soon, then the speed creeps up and then I have to brake (well, I feel I have to brake). So coming home, I was all on my own and practiced what he had shown me..man, it is hard to overcome bad habits!!
But I had a blast and managed to override the desire to change down too soon.... for most corners anyway! But I will never be able to keep up with you guys!

I think they have a new engine for the R1. It could be in for the next race. They are struggling with the Duke and it's power but that's par for the course. That has happened before.

No been to Waiora today. Hell it was exciting. Apart from the turkeys, sheep, lambs, goats there were 3 boys in blue this side of waiora taking photos of a car that looked like it had been hit by a train, as it was smashed up and lying besides the track just down from a crossing.
Then got to town and had a pie and a drink and sat in the sun. Went to hop on the bike and the boys in blue show up. They go over to this shifty bloke and he tries to do a runner. Soooo you guessed it he got the bash and hand cuffed. :Playnice:Got thrown in the back of the car. Then he decided im gonna kick ths car. Soooo you guessed it, out comes the spray. :2thumbsup While hes in the car. So before the boys in blue could get in the car they had to wind the windows down to vent it.
So on my way home i take it easy as im not sure if the boys in blue are still on the side of the road. Noooooooooooooo they arnt. So im off. Untill i get close to the elbow and you guessed it. HP. Bugger. Hit the picks. No worries, appeared that he was looking for something. Got down the road a bit more and theres another HP. Lights flashing but no one to be seen. He wasnt in the car. Maybe down the bank. So you guessed it. Im off and up the elbow.
Great ride and the bike is on song:lol:

I get a reminder notice on the 2nd Sept to say my account has been brought forward. It has a red stamp on it. "Any reason?"
I called after hours last night and left a message. Called today at 2ish and spoke to Sue I think. Spent 20 minutes on the phone and got it sorted. yep it is paid sorry. Things happen but it just doesn't seem to stop with this company. Get it sort 5 Star or sell the business back to Craig. He ran a good ship and was great to work with. I am sorry you sold it mate.

Pick up the phone and ring them?? I know thats sounds like a really simple thing to do but I'm sure even you know how to dial a phone:Pokey:
yes it is a simple thing to do stick, BUT they say they will phone me and they dont. not just this time but several other times!
i went in there several times since the middle of may (when i first arrived in the bay) asking them to sort me a muffler out, 8 or 9 (maybe more cant remember) times i left my number at their request, each time i went back or called them the answer was "sorry i forgot" (its not as if i am that easy to forget is it!). last time i had the bike serviced there i went round there 2 days later, "sorry we forgot to tell you it was ready".
you think that is acceptable for a main dealership? i dont! especially one that has very little customers. they need to stop apologising and do something about it!
