Nice ride people. Off out but that was great.
I spoke too soon Dooly. Had a wicked tank slapper coming in to our valley on the way home. my fault cos I was scooting along and went to full noise and passed a van. That piece of road has a bad ripple in it and at 120 mph it just went nuts. My wrists, still, actually hurt.
But what a great day.
Looks like we have lost our Chicky to the H/D. She had a big grin when I saw her. Good stuff Chicky. You will be out setting da pace soon.
Have a nice day tomorrow everyone. Cheers and thanks for a great day.
Edit I love ridin.................
Yes another awesome ride, still lots of bumps on the road good to see constable Keith setting the pace on the way back, farout what anice bike:gob: I never new they made Gixxers like that, got all the gear to. some more photos to have a look at.
Some more photos, bud looks like he's had to many Speights and we havn't got into the pub yet. Carnalee looked comfortable on your bike, I won't tell him you were scratching his pegs on the corners though:rockon:

I have to say I have missed my saturday rides with you lot. Thanks heaps Wasp for the ride the H/D is an amazing bike to be pillion on....could have quite nicely gone to sleep. A HUGE thanks to Gixxer and Mary for their hospitality and big hugs to Gixxer for the lessons. I had a ball and can't wait to come out to do it again. Unfortunately I won't be there next weekend due to going down to Wellington to spend my birthday with my twin. Can't break tradition just because I moved I reckon.
Hope your wrist is ok Gixxer. See what happens when Mary or I aren't on the back to make you behave hehehehe. Nice Wheelies Speights_bud don't think Carnalee saw those.

Must of been a bad one to hurt your wrist.
Seems to be the in thing.
As I told you, I had another tank slapper today too, same bloody spot as last time we rode there. At least I saw the reason this time, nasty lump in the road. A good ride today tho.
Jason's Gixxer sure is nice, with all the fruit on it.
I enjoyed the fast blast from Elsthorpe to Patangata, still a dodgy bit of road in places, but magic none the less.
Did anyone take note what was going on with the patched gang members and the bikes on the side of the road on the way back?

I noted a cross on the left side of the road. I assume it was a memorial "ride out" or similar. I slowed down and gave a acknowledgement wave and got nothin back. Shame really cos I do care about others.

Well i definatly enjoyed the ride on sat, it's fun getting to ride with pretty looking bikes once a week :), but my highlight would be the ride home, which i duely enjoyed thanks to lee :2thumbsup:. However i once again feel disgusted with the lack of power, handling, suspension etc upon retuning to my faithful old 250. But the legal stuff must be abided by :( It's definalty a matter of time before getting my full licence before doing the upgrade thing :).
Hope to see you all next week :scooter:

Yeah well this weekend may be my last as I'm breaking the news to my Mum that I'm now riding...She is dead against it due to my sisters boyfriend being killed on a motorbike (all sorts of reasons caused it), which I can totally understand but just wish that she had the same attitude as Dad and that is that I'm old enough to make my own decision. Wish me luck!!! Also this is one tradition I will never break, my twin is my best friend and I'm looking forward to spending time with her

Thanks, but I should be ok as with the missus being regional sales manager for Waste Management, she gets the truck drivers to save her bottles from pickup.
You have to buy new bottles per 1000, and I'm only bottling 100 this year, so not buying 1000.
Do'nt worry I'll be throwing a few bottles of Syrah your way to test for me.
So far it smells ok, and tastes ok, just racking it tonight for the final time.

In the spring? Let me know what you are booked in for and I will try and get along. Time to do it again. You over estimate my riding Dave. Been a while since I thrashed a bike let alone on the track. But yep lets get a track day sorted. When is the next Zuki one?
Was a great ride from them for sure. I recon it is going to rock at Philip Island this year. Might have to pick a rider to cheer for while sitting in the stands. Maybe "go Rossi" Wonder what the 500 ozy supporters will think of that.

True but it is all perception. See Dave and I use to have a ball on the track. We went for it ride after ride on the track and we would usually stay very close to each other. It made for a great day on the track. I can't speak for Dave but for me they were great days out on the track duelling for track place. In my mind it was as good as watching the top bikes on the track. Not for the spectators but for me it was the bomb. Problem now, is Dave has kept it up and I haven't. He has race rubber and I do not. I dropped the bike last time on the track and he has not. So you see BigG he has the advantage but I recon it will be fun to chase and try. Suzuki Yamaha go carts V8's all the same. just thrash it and get the blood full of adrenalin.

What a ride Thanks for the company Zukin. We went to Tarawera. No rain on the way up to speak of. We got some at the summit that turned in to snow :woohoo: as we went down the other side. It sticks to the visor and makes life interesting. it was settling on the road side but not the road itself. Got to the Pub and the big log fire was on. :p Free  ( yep another story ) and good company. A few people came and went and everyone seemed happy to chat. Bloody silly bike riders out in this weather. Felt sorry for the boyfriends of the two girls that joined us at the fire. :grouphug: Don't think they liked the bike boys chatting to their girls. :bash:
We said our thanks and good byes and headed home. :spudwave:

I agree with G4E
What an excellent ride, for those of you that couldnt make it (or decided to sit in the warm comfort of home) you certainly missed out on a great ride.:dodge:
Just the riders, their bikes and mother nature:yes:
We left the BP at 1.30pm and headed into what we thought would be heavy rain, but alas no rain to speak of.
The snow on the summit was neat to see, and it actually didn't feel that cold
When we got into Tarawera tavern the log fire was burning and it was a great atmosphere, I could of stayed for a while there, but alas the afternoon was drawing to a close
The ride home was spectacular, the clouds lifted enough to see panoramic views of the low snow levels on the Summit.
As we got over the last of the climbs the clouds lifted enough to see the Bay in all its beauty, man I love Hawkes Bay, especially when you are riding your bike through snow covered ranges and can see the sea below in a blaze of sunshine  Fantastic!!
Then the sun shined on our backs as the roads ahead were drying in front of us, so it was an incredible ride home
Thanks G4E, I really enjoyed it and it wasnt that cold after all, it makes you feel alive!!
The only rain to speak of that I encountered was a pesky shower once I got to the airport on the way home:mellow:

Ok the secret to this winter riding is what you wear. if you get cold you can't do it. I had plenty of clothes.Layers in this order
1 long sleeve poly prop

1 freshly waxed leather jacket
1 grade 3 blized waist coat.
1 long poly on legs
1 freshly waxed leather pants
wool / thermal socks
Freshly waxed road boots
Silk balaclava

Ummm on a serious note...........how practical would it be, for us to get our group together and donate blood as a group one avo?
Has anyone here had anything to do with blood donation or know anything about it?
If we could get enough people together we could do it one Saturday instead of a ride.

Thought I would mention how my weekend went as I'm sure you guys are dying to know....NOT
Flights were pretty good. A little rattley at time and the worst part was flying into here last night. The whole weekend consisted of me conplaining how cold it was down there hehehehe. it was good to catch up with family and friends...Well some of my family anyway. My sister decided not to speak to me the whole time I was down there. Not even a Happy Birthday from her. That kind of put me in a depressed mood for the day but i suppose you get that when we don't really get on. Its my older sister I'm talking about not my Twin. Fatty (twin sister) and I had a blast the whole weekend. It was sooo great to be able to spend time with her, Mum and Dad.
I broke the news to mum about my riding and she took it REALLY well :gob: She really appreciated me telling her to her face rather than on the phone but she realises that I'm really enjoying it and I'm old enough to make my own decision. Thinking Dad may have played a part... Good man  :Punk: I played Darts on Saturday night and came runner up :Punk: Then the dart club proceeded to tell me that I should go home as I keep taking their medals hehehehe. My Mum and my twin sister are coming up when i get my furniture moved and would LOVE for you guys to meet them both so thinking about having a few drinks at my Aunties or even my house for you guys to come and say hello. They are wantin to meet you all too as I rave about you lot for some strange reason hehehe
So all in all it was a pretty good weekend, although I missed my saturdays out on the bike. Think that would have made the day feel alot better if I did manage to find someone that would have taken me out . Glad to be home though and I still feel like moving here was the best decision I made.

Hey Warwick, we were down at Anza today.
Beautiful VRod there, the Street Rod model, only demo kms on it, reduced to about 28k, in blue, very nice. Big line up of VRods actually, plus lots of new Harleys.
Having a good look at them, looks like an entry level big Harley is about 27k for the Dyna.
They were trying to convert me to a Harley, and sell me one.
They had 2 Moto Morini bikes, kinda look like a Ducat Monster, a bit weird looking for my taste.

Yeah, I made the mistake of taking a 06 V/Rod for a squirt when I was down there a few weeks ago...was really impressed with the grunt and the handling. Easy to lift the front too. Felt a bit small for me....would need to fit different seat and bars and extend forward controls another 30-40mm further forward...then you never know. I'm happy with what I've got mate.
Can't see myself on a cruiser and Tina loves the Triumph so we'll keep the status quo I think.
My last bike before I got the born again urge after 7 yrs, late last year was a cruiser VN1500, which tbh bored me senseless. I ended up parking it for ages before throwing in Whitakers for sale.
I only brought it so we both could go cruising!

Okay, folks.
Daylight Saving time is over so our midweek rides are moving to the weekend.
It will be really hard to please everyone, but I'll give it a go.
Rides will take place on Saturday avo, leaving from BP Taradale Rd at 1.30pm.
First ride is this coming Saturday (24 March) - if the weather turns to crap on any Saturday (highly unlikely in HB!), we can move the ride to Sunday.
I believe we will be joined by an Aucklander for our first outing...:innocent:
Same "rules" as for our midweek rides- these rides are suitable for newbies, inexperienced riders and of course, our resident Nana rider/s
Look forward to seeing you all there!

$103.00 for oil and filter. No, not changed just the oil and filter for me to take away.
They have changed the oil they use and sell. And that was with my discount. Got my usual oil and filter from Honda in Bay View for $63.00. I am not jugging and yes I guess the oil they are using is top of the line but my old bikes is happy with the Motul it has had for the last few years. And the Gixxer before that did 81,000 KM on it and was still good when sold.
Just ask for a price. What are they going to charge the people who don't do any of this work themselves?
Lee is a good man to work with. When I asked him the price of the oil he went a bit quiet as his boss was standing next to him and he said ummmmm, as he went a bit red in the face, $103.00 with your discount That was with the filter. I muttered somthin like SHIT here I will put it back on the shelf for you.
Strike 3, 5 star.
Edit That $103.00 was oil and filter!

Gee that is steep.:shit: Was that fully synthetic oil that they gave you a price for?
I picked up a bottle of the new brand and ask Lee if this was what I needed. No price on the shelf I might add. He said he would check it. I asked for a semi-synthetic. He went away and came back with a flash bottle with the word "race" on it. My wallet took a deep breath and pinched my ass when I saw that. Probably fully synthetic but that's what he recommended. The oil I had in my hands and the one he got were the only two in stock.
Both bottles are back on the shelf tonight. I am sure they will sell them to someone not as tight as me tomorrow.
It is my choice for sure but I am not payin that for oil. Maybe in the year 2222 but not yet.
The poin is ASK cos it could be more than you want to pay

Thought while I was down there I'd pick up a pack & filter. Does'nt need changing for 6000k by the service book, and I've only done 2800 since new, but dunno when I'll be down that way again.

I'll have to take you up on that. I was heading over to Palmy in the car and got pinged on highway 50. Strange thing was, my radar detector didn't pick up a signal at all. I asked in the garage which way you had gone and they must be dumb in there cos they didnt no if anybody had bin ther. Never mind I thought I shoot up the Taupo Road, Bleeding heck was it windy going along the coast by the airport so decided to turn back. Well the wind was getting worse so had to slow down to 70k not much of a ride but was pretty hairy.
Dont no were you other guys went though.
Left right on 1.30 i went up the wairoa road to waikare. Came back then up the Taupo road over hill road and up seaveiw road etc etc. Was good. No one else for the ride.

Looks like I am going to miss the ride again this week.:shit: Need to help my brother do an engine swap in his ute. Looks like you will get a lesson in things oily and dirty as well as a riding lesson Chicky. :innocent: You might become a PIT girl. That is holding the light in the pit while Mike puts the bolts in.
Looks like rain for Saturday.
Some bikes feel the wind more than others I recon. I had an old GSX 750 ESD years ago and it was a pain in the wind. Put me off riding it. But since I have had the Gixxers the wind just doesn't count any more. Just go faster young man. See, you need a Gixxer BIG G.

I wont be there either!!
But I will be riding all weekend  :Punk:
There is 22 riders (all from KB) riding the gravel roads in the Taranaki, staying at the famous Whangamomona Hotel and having a few quiets and watching the rugby!!
But the hotel owner told me that as we have completely booked the hotel out that they will provide a live band, and nibbles for the rugby!!
And we get a full 3 course pub dinner and cooked breakfast the next day!!
Even though the forecast looks crap, I cant wait!!!:Punk:
Have fun doing what you all love the best!!
Cheers Scott

Hopefully the guy who brought my Triumph will come along too. He sounded keen and I told him where we meet.
But he is an Ulysses guy.
Not riding today BigG. We even waited another 10 minutes for you. End of the month, got to get accounts out, but thats no excuse. Very nearly came but I thought it wise not to with the wet road and a bald back tyre. Next week should be ok should have a tyre on.:niceone:

See ya this weekend Sounds like it was a bit of an adventure ride, did you go with some guys from Welly or were they local KB's, cos I think I might have upset someone's partner about the Moto GP.
Went for a blast on Sunday to Bayveiw and up the Eskdale Road and back to Havelock it was good short ride but plenty of HWP's on the road, is it going to be a thing of the future.

Gixxer, Tart, Mstrs and I went for ride yesterday too. Gixxer as lead and Tart gossiping on the back of his bike and Mstrs at the back of me. I tell ya I was nervous as about jumping on Tarts EL from the farm bike that Gixxer has let me ride but what a great day. You three made my weekend really after a really crap week (I caused a major mistake). I look forward to getting out on the main road next weekend hopefully. Still alittle tired but its well worth it thats for sure. Never realised how draining riding can be. I really need to harden up I think. Hopefully next time there won't be any goats flying at me!!! Not nice for a noobie thats for sure, thought I was gonna have a heart attack. Stupid thing was the only thing that crossed my mind was...Stick you better control Tarts bike otherwise she is gonna kill ya :dodge:
These three are the best to be taught to ride with :Punk:, they may push your boundries alittle but they know whats best. All you do is take a deep breath and get on with it.
THANKS HEAPS GUYS!!!! If it wasn't for you I would still be transportless and now i see alight at the end of the tunnel!!!!

Hey Stick...we can help and give advice etc but you still gotta do the thing. And you were doing well. You have found out what most newbies suffer from...riding is mentally (and physically) draining until you have practised enough that the basics come automatically. The answer is to keep taking bites at it and spend time in the saddle. I reckon once you can do 100ks then you need to do a big trip. What you are doing right now tells me you are teachable - and believe me, it is a pleasure to watch someone doing what they are told!!!

Hey G i came thru yr neck of the woods yesterday. Down middle road to patangata, over to Waipawa, over to Onga Onga, down HW50. Called in and saw Dooly. And off home. The weather was really mild down there and not a HP in sight. They must be keeping an eye on you:shit:

THANKS HEAPS GUYS!!!! :
What MSTRS said. John and I have a very different way of teaching and I recon between us we get good middle ground. I have said it before and I will say it again. You are a natural and you will be a grate rider. You are going ahead well. Driven by the need to be free and mobile. You rock Chicky and as John said It is great to work with someone that wants to learn. Tart is a great inspiration and she has felt the pain so it is good to chat to her cos she has the answers you are looking for. The goat was a shock and it was very dangerous but sooner or later you gota experience it. Later would have been better but there you go. Your natural skill kept you going. And the fact we wouldn't let you stop. :)
Roll on next week. Was great to spend a few hours chatting to Tart. Was good of MSTRS to let me have her for that long

Ok guys this old bitch is a little sore can you shed some light on why? The muscles in my back are really stiff. Is this the way i was sitting or its just the old body isn't used to having those muscles being used? The rest of my is fine...well is normal for me anyway hehehe

You are right...riding's always better when you have company:innocent:
If your muscles are sore, it is because you weren't relaxed. Understandable when you are nervous etc. It will get better as you progress.
