View Full Version : Hawkes Bay: Hawke's Bay weekend rides
schado
18th April 2009, 11:11
Seafield Rd, Bayview
Tomorrow
Organised by Pacific MCC
Sausage sizzle etc
Free transport up the hill for spectators
Not sure of other details, but someone who can help you will be along soon... Can I still win if someone helps me with free transport up the hill?
I mustn't be too clever, so that might be why I'm asking this next question: road or dirt bike hillclimb? (or do I need hiking boots and some climbing ropes?)

:eek5:Whare the heck have you been for the last few weeks. If Rob mentioned hill climb it wouldnt be on the dirt. Sea Feild road Fast and Furious take your bike along and it will cost you $40 if all places have not been taken, if I had the 600 I would give it a go but the old ace is like me to heavy and to old for a sprint.:baby:

Im in Wellington for the weekend. Have had a good look around the bike shops, have'nt been tempted by anything yet. Mind you theres a sweet 1098 with a fancy exhaust in one place that is very tempting!!!
Can't make it tommorrow.
Best of luck tommorrow for those that compete.
Those tards sure look good with the road rubber on.
John's Honda especially looks the part.

No probably not. The Swedish Geezers name is Jan. RF 900. Nice blue colour. Lives in Napier. I think his name here is Sweed but he is never online. I dropped in to his place yesterday so he is still around. Needs new rubber for the bike. He took my Gixxer out for a ride on Saturday and wants one. hahahahaha. Well, I made my way to the BP, sat on the little lawn like a biker-garden-gnome & waited from 1:15pm till 1:45pm :( ... and 2% of Napier's driving population got to see 'Schado No Friends' drinking a redbull but not growing wings.
But in saying that, I popped out to the hillclimb event twice and fully appreciate why no one wanted to waste their time riding around the same damn block again lol.
I might have to enter that event next year. Hopefully by then I will be able to corner with my knee less that two feet away from the ground hehehe. Some amazing rides... I wish I could had a vantage point where I could have seen each bike do the whole track... cos some of them were fair fanging it !!!

Yeah, that event sounds great. I like to go to everything I can, so long as I can afford it. It would be cool to meet up with another RF owner for sure. Compare? Well I'm not sure that it's a good time for that. After a short little ride today I noticed that my temp guage isnt going past the 'cold' marker, even though the bike shoure be hotter. So that worries me a little in that it won't engage the fan when needed. So, I will have to investigate that from my none mechanic pint of view and see if I can resolve that.

Well done the hill climb today. I need a bike with not so much grunt. That rear wheel likes going sideways. Front wheel going sky ways.
About 35 bikes having a hoon today and everyone pretty much had smiles trying to better there times. They put on an awesome BBQ and had burgers and bangers to purchase. They sold out of them burgers.
So ive added a video clip where you will see me sky ways and sideways. Would of been a good time if that didnt happen.

I certainly needed something on the back. Front was all good.
Just to add. A lot of bikes were having grip problems due to a number of reasons. It appears that is the danger with waiting around and then going hard on cold tyres, on roads with dirt, poos and anything else that a country road can come up with. Oh and freshly painted white lines.:bash:

This is an area south of Tait Rd at the end of a bumpy staright and Im sure very familar to a certain Mr Dooly:sweatdrop

According to the local farming gossip network ( busy pack of chaps ! )
Also the narrow 1 way swingbridges inplace are to be replaced with 2 way

I feel that this distracts from 50s uniqueness:crybaby:
Napier will become the direct route via our 50 so this will mean more traffic

Looking at of all things a Hyosung 250. Some love them, some hate them. Some have no problems, some have heaps so who knows. Good looking small sportsbike tho. I would like to be looking at a new/newish Kawasaki Ninja 250 but at just on $8k they are a bit steep, great looker tho. Have looked at older 250's of various makes and they still fetch good prices even going back to the early 90's!
The boys a fan of the sportsbike styling as well so narrows the field.

We need an 'Isle Of Man' type road-race event here in NZ I think. One that makes us world famous and attracts amateur and pro bike racers from all over. I give my vote to the road that goes right around Lake Taupo!!!
Can anyone here make that happen before this coming weekend please? If so, I'm in for a ride :2thumbsup:Punk::ride:

Hi All
Dan and I are heading down your way to watch my Grandad march in his Anzac Day Parade. Due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to stay at my Aunties place and I am wanting to surprise Grandad so Gixxer 4 Ever has kindly allowed us to stay at his.
In light of this Steve and Mary Moo are allowing me to have a few drinks up at their place on Saturday night. Would love to catch up with you all if you can make it.
Also I believe that Dan is wanting to see the good roads in the HB if you guys are also keen.

I thought the guys on the old classics we passed a few times held their line well, but some of the guys on the modern cruisers were all over the show.

If we'd gone on to Rangitikei, we would've all needed fuel to get home again, so we changed plans as we left. But it was a good ride all the same. Might catch you at the next one at the end of May.

No, not hiding. Been selling Goats and cattle cos there is not enough feed for them. Then my uncle went in to hospital for a hip replacement so Mike, my brother, and I are looking after him for the next few weeks. I will escape this place in time and get back to riding.
Mind you I was riding over to Hasting to see my uncle most nights last week and I was amazed how many times the radar detector showed me of the pending problems. Every night and sometime two different pig pens. Must be a dangerous road that road to Hastings.
The price of fuel will go down now Rob is not using it all. ;)

Hiya CrazyHorse.
Been for a few rides with you guys, last one at BP Stortford a few weeks back to Patangata.
Always seem to run into some of you somewhere, namely Dave or Robbie etc.
May join you at Mobil this weekend, but think the dragon is talking about wanting to come on a ride.:bash:
Have to hide the rear footpegs off the Speed Triple again.
....and the Tona did'nt come with any.
Hope you (and the Mrs) can make the ride on Saturday - note the change of time and place (I tend to change things, who wants to wait until 1pm to ride.....)
