Da weather forecast is really bad Chicky. I am taking the cage. Look here

http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast3day.php?type=rain&region=nz

If you go, send a txt if you need a hand. We will be behind you by 3-4 hours and can help if need be. But it just might not rain. :niceone:

It was not intended to put you off. W and I talked about the weather report and we both recon it could be very wet. It might be fine on Saturday and you can ride. Will be fine by Sunday or Monday so you would have a good ride home. What ever happens you will have us on the road in your area on Saturday going the same way so you have support should you want/need it. Please PM me your cell. Unless I have it. 021 and it ends in 63? If yes I will keep in contact with you on Saturday. Or you could come back with us and bus home, or you could ride as you planned to. I am sure it will work out. We have no Internet from 9am tomorrow so txt if we can help.

I was just having a wee chat with your son and he has convinced me that there is nothing wrong with a bit of water as long as I'm warm and toasty.

Yep you have the right number. If I don't reply very quickly you know I'm on the road and will respond next pitstop I make.

Roberty.....thanks for the push, I needed it. See you on Saturday!!!

You'll be fine Sticky..it is a gorgeous day here today...nothing like the forecast at all. So, no reason the forecast should be right tomorrow, either?
Wrap up warm, stop every 150 -200 ks, plenty of water, you'll be right.
Txt us when you get to town!!

Is your VTR yellow?
If so I saw and heard you from my place, 3 kms from the Chook.
Was sitting on the balconey up Tait Rd, 2kms off HW50 watching bikes go by with my binoculars, saw 3, red, Dave, blue, George, and yellow........

As for the Chook, the food has turned to shit IMO as being a local there. Meals used to be decent, but now are slapped together. Last time there recently, I hurled in the bog from the crap fed up to me............

The beer is ok tho.....

I'm wanting to be leaving about 9am-ish, I would be honoured to be ridden out by your guys. I was stoked to have Roberty ride with me in.

Sorry about the vacancy last night, was starting to get really tired. Next time there is party. I'm coming down the day before.

I'm currently at Grandad's on dial up so I will keep in touch later on so I'm not tying up his phone line so my Aunty can call.

Sounds like a plan then. Bay View at 9.15 for a trip to Taupo and Brunch followed by a gentle ride home. The weather is going to be really nice tomorrow. Could be very cold in the morning but the day will get so much better as the day goes. You will have a ball. Hamilton in 3 hours. :devil2:

I actually could see your Yammy leathers from 2km away so figured it was you, reco a red VFR, assumed it was Dave.
Took the Ducati for its first ride for 10 weeks on Friday.
Had to use the block of wood to get on it, despite not having to a few days prior when trying.
Got to Tiko, had to turn around, crouch position too hard on new titanium body parts.
Ducati in corner of shed asleep for a another month or so fuckit............:doctor:

Big thank you too Tart and MSTRS for having us this weekend. Yummy food as alwasy...nice slow cooked meaty/vege/gravy stuff and primo Soup and roast chicken.....:first:
They even threw in an earthquake..4.7??
Tart kicked my undies around as well, lucky I was not in them at the time...
Made good time coming home, 6 hours. Stoped at Toke for a burger and smoke. Right at Tirua...Matamata, then left into a road that brought us in the backway to Morrinstown, up to Tahuna then out to Ohinewai. Stop number two. Saw a decent smash on the M/Way just by the East Tamaki off ramp, 4WD towing a racecar of sorts was on its side blocking two lanes, we had passed that vehicle at Ohinewai (where we stoped for a smoke)

Thanks again J and J....Ya'll are very special.....:msn-wink:

What time did you go past there? Tart sent me a text about diverting through Manukau. Decided to take my chances otherwise I would still be riding around looking to get out of Manukau (I'm not good with directions). Was all clear when I came through. Not much traffic on the road. Sat on 110 most of the way.

I second the Thanks to J & J. I could have been sleeping in Grandad's backyard if you guys weren't such great people that came back and got me and gave me a good bed. He was quite shocked he didn't hear my knocking on his bedroom window. Apparently that was the best night's sleep he had in a while.

Thanks to all that rode with me back today too. Had a whoops moment on the bit of road with the bumps heading down into a 35k corner and then a 25K. It unsettled me a bit but started to relax again.

Stormy1...Thanks heaps for lagging behind me. I really appreciated it, hope I didn't make your ride too boring for you.

Basically to all the Hawkes Bay people....You guys rock!!!! Always great company, great laughs and all have hearts of gold. Love the lot of ya :love:

Bring on summer riding where I will hopefully be visiting more often..... Whoohooooo!!!!!

Up to everyone to decide, Moto TT dates are as follows:

Sunday 7 December Track 2

2009
Saturday 17 January Track 1
Friday 27 Febuary Track 1
Saturday 28 March Track 1

Actually next year is probably the best choice, track 1 is the full track. Track 2 is only the new half

Keen to see how well the VTR goes and if the rider can keep up!!!

Track days are not a race so you can start out slower and build up to see what the bike/rider can do. From what I saw on the weekend you ride well so you will have a ball mate. :niceone:

You know why Tony. Give it time mate or you will go back to the start. A few month of genteel exercise will give you years of heath. Rushing it and hurting it could see you on a trike or quad for life.

If this T/day happens it is designed to be a family come mates day so everyone is welcome. See if we can get a few more that want to go.

Hear ya fella, but you know what its like sitting idle when you're used to being on the go.

Looks like I've got an infection in my leg/hip again after the op. Here we go again...........past history says its gonna be a bitch.

Anyway, was up at 2am with aching again, stuff it, went to work at 6 did some paper work, mucked about, came home about 11, thought I'd have a go on the weedeater for an hour, first time since for 8 weeks, feel guilty the neighbour doing it for me all the time.

Weed eater is no good for you. :nono: I have spent many years cutting scrub with a scrub bar like a weed eater but with a steel blade. The swinging from side to side will kill the hip Tony.

Bugger you got an infection mate. Eat well and rest so the body can have a real go at beating it. Sleep is good cos the body can send all its workers to the infection. I think Dan is booking me in as my Christmas present, gonna hopefully hire their 400 :2thumbsup. Well that's the plan anyway. Must find out once he is home.

I must have given my poor EL a hell of a work out. Just took it around to Noels to see if he can show me how to change the bulb in the headlight and the tail light, only to find out while riding there, that now I have no working speedo and there is a knocking noise at low speed (can't hear it at high speed). John informed me that I need a new chain when I was down so hopefully that is the cause of the knocking. Fingers crossed it's not something major.

That would be good start. You will take a bit of time to get into the rythum on being on the track. You only need to go at a pace that you are comfortable with. Its not a race.

"Medium speed" Probably bike size and of course ability.

Q. How many groups are there and how fast can I go?

A. There is no speed limit on the track. You may go as fast or as slow as youlike. However choose a group to ride in that best suits your riding ability. We normally run 4 riding groups.

Group 1 is for expert/experienced riders who wish to ride at a fast pace and includes supermotards.

Group 2 is for experienced riders who wish to ride at a fast to medium speed and excludes supermotards.

Group 3 is for medium speed riding and group 4 is for novice/trackday first timers who wish to ride at a slower pace and not be intimidated by faster riders.

All modesty aside, by the end of the day i would have been one of the quicker people around the track even when riding in the faster group. Managed to catch up to some of the riders on circuit bikes and was seeing 220k down the front straight and close to it down the back straight, what a blast!

In 2006 I asked Classic Insurance to write to me and state their position relating to Insurance at a trackday. The reply as follows,

It is a TRACKDAY, Not a training day, when there is an opportunity to go out and ride your bike around a track- even though non-competitively- and when there is no supervision or instruction. These days ARE NOT COVERED.

The best thing is to check the policy wording which reads,

We will not pay for……Losses when your vehicle is being ….

Driven (ridden) on a track whether sealed or not and whether in the presence of other vehicles or not unless as part of an organised non competitive training program and accompanied at all times by a suitably qualified instructor. This means that while there doesn’t necessarily have to be an instructor riding pillion there must be some form of supervision and safety marshals in place around the track to ensure the safety standards are kept up. On a “trackday” everyone just goes all out and slower riders can often weave around in front of faster bikes and accidents are not uncommon.

Quote from Ann Beale
Classic Cover Insurance.

ann@classiccover.co.nz

Classic have never contacted me to say anything has changed but I suggest you call your broker and ask them where you stand. I will do so this week just out of interest because I had heard that State have changed their cover to exclude Trackdays. Mind you we are not going to a Trackday by definition above. We are going to an organised training day as we have formal supervisors and marshals with training riders on the track.
Now this is only my interpretation of what I have read and in no way is it to suggest your cover is the same as mine nor am I suggesting you are or are not covered. I am only relaying information I received from my insurer, Classic Cover, in 2006 when I requested clarification on this matter..

Cut this from the Mottott page of Q A
Q. Am I covered by my bike insurance whilst riding on the track?

A. Check with your insurance provider prior to every trackday.

Hi Donna,

I would like to attend a track day held by www.kiwitrackdays.co.nz held on the 25th April at Taupo. Therefore I would like confirmation that I have insurance coverage while attending this training day.

Well i went to the track/training day with Brian Bernard at Manfield yesterday. Was a long but really great day. I learnt heaps and picked up some great tips. All modesty aside, by the end of the day i would have been one of the quicker people around the track even when riding in the faster group. Managed to catch up to some of the riders on circuit bikes and was seeing 220k down the front straight and close to it down the back straight, what a blast!

Cheers
Dale

I got that impression watching you ride last weekend Dale. Like I said mate you ride well :niceone:

Just been to see Noel about the poor state of the EL. Front headlight now fixed, no knocking sound happened while he rode it but as Mstrs told me the chain is in dire need of replacing and I have snapped my speedo cable too. Geez visiting you lot is an expensive trip

Now to look for some prices for parts. :eek5:

Classic Cover doesn't...
Thanks so much for checking with us before you signed up to the Taupo TT day – we are familiar with the event. While there are staff officials there, it unfortunately falls into the Track Day category, rather than the Training Day, as riders are able to use the track to simply go ‘all out’ without worries about speeding fines & police – as noted on the organisers’ web site. We used to be more lenient and include TT days in our cover but had so many claims resulting from these events that we had to restrict cover to ‘true’ Rider Training Day events only. Sorry if this has now put the ‘kaibosh’ on your plans; you can, of course, still take part in the event but it will have to be at your own risk.

The response I got from Classic is the same as John posted. You might need to check as it looks like the TT days have a bad reputation for damaging bikes. Hence no cover from Classic.

As far as I'm aware star do cover trackdays if you are an existing customer. New Customers will not have that option and anyone renewing their policy will have it deleted off it as well.

He was only wearing a pair of shorts. Pointed it out to Tony at the time that it looked strange. We headed back and we saw that the HP and a dog handler had these guys. Windscreen was broken. Appears that they could of been up to not good.

Yes you can stay even though I will get a hard time from G and Dog cos they think Yamaha is just so cool but they don’t always take their pills so it is normal to be delusional under those circumstances.
You better bring some polish to get the finger marks off the shiny bits Chicky.

A Sad day for sure.

That it is. There's been too many of them recently. We can't ever be too careful.
Janet rode the 500 to Carterton, first time on it since maybe Easter. She had built up this scary image in her head, and avoided riding for ages. She did so well!! Sat on a steady 100/110 all the way, not even phased by the copious roadworks!!
Stayed at Elle33f's and off over the hill soon. At least the weather is lovely, so will get to enjoy that part of the day.

An odd request peoples....

It looks like one of the undercoats on the 400s tank is giving up and will need to be striped and painted. I am thinking about sending the tank down to crazyfox to do because he did the initial paint so he should have the colour formula. The thing is I wouldn’t send the whole bike down, just the tank which would leave the bike tankless. One of the functions of the tank is keeping water off/out of the top of the engine. I don’t have shed space and while it is under a cover I don’t trust it that much so dose anybody close-ish to Taradale have shed space it could stay in while the tank is off?
IT may not be happening till December or even the New Year and there may be an option here that MSTRS told me about but have not followed up yet.

Thanks

I am sure we can find shed space for it. Contact Speights_Bud (Patrick) When he gets back and he could pick it up in the van and bring it out to the farm.

Re the bike tank...I already told you who to see and that he will look after you. Tee it up with him and you can just take the whole bike in. That way, it stays inside and he has the other panels to ensure a perfect match.
Stop making problems that don't need to be....

We did all we set out to do (and more). Grub's send off was the happy/sad equal of Scott's.
And the gixxer finally triggered the error code thingy... Nos.32/33/34/35...relates to injectors having an interruption in their power source. Probably a little corrosion in a wire joining block. Wayne will study his book to identify which one. Not serious as long as it gets dealt with. Horrible things, these intermittent faults. Bike has done near on 1000ks before it did it with the loop tester in place.
