If any one is inerested I have a 41 min interveiw with Andrew Stroud and his time with John Brittin. This is a Christian video taken from a Prommise Keepers event at Tauronga and is very moveing and interesting, if anyone is interested then I will organise a night to veiw or a social get together. Mainly for blokes but if any Ladys would like to attend there will be something in the vid for you.

Still Sat rides from Mobil Tdle road , although I don't think the weather will be too kind this weekend , a little more subdued in the past and any way with Massey Ferguson power there is a limit too how fast I can go these days :)

Cheers Dave.
Heard you had a Fergy, is it a 24 or 35hp model? Maybe I can borrow it to tow my harrows round the paddocks, since I got rid of my one a while back?

Will prob get back into the rides after Winter, both bikes tucked up in bed with regos on hold till Oct.
Things to do, shit to sort, usual crap as per norm.:calm:

No sweeping of the road has been done yet, lead to a bit of hair raising moments on a few corners
( without even talking about black ice)!:gob:

As long as the awareness was there its was a good run :woohoo:
An enjoyable ride, gonna be even better in summer after the other vehicles have swept the road clear

Anyone hear about the motorcycle crash on Seafield Rd yesterday? While on a ride yesterday I watched the rider get air lifted out with serious leg injuries.
Hope he is o.k.
Their is a lot of fuel on the corner at the bottom of the first hill coming from Pukititiri Rd, about 1.8km in. I think it was at the starting point of where the hill climb is held, just after the layby where there's a house on the corner.
Be careful out there.

Hey, it is active, I just had no credit, I have topped it up now. Did you get my reply from my back-up phone?

I had to go to Hastings midday so took the bike, was still cold then! (I was actually colder heading home an hour later, illogical to me)

whoa this thread is long, i saw on the first post you guys ride out from Taradale BP sat arvo but i am guessing that may have changed by now re location/date time? Roughly how many of you meet up as well on a warmish sunny day?

Also does anyone have any details of local motorcycle clubs IE ones with club rooms or even meet at a pub that take on jap bike riders in the Hastings/Havelock or if need be Napier areas, the last club i was in was Amroc in Hastings but that closed down in 2001 just after i moved to the UK, i used to pop into Bay MCs in Hastings on occasion too when they sort of accepted Jap bike riders as long as you were from another club they knew...do they still exist or are they pretty closed on who rides into there club now?

Riding 'clubs' come and go.
The ones that stay are Classic and Ulysses.
As for regular rides that still happen - Taradale Rd Mobil Saturdays 1pm (I think) and Burger Fuel on certain Sundays 10am.
Most group rides are just mates who organise by text when it suits.

No you have been lead down the garden path again. Yes the boss blue his stack accusing the sport bike riders of the high number of mishaps on a ride. But it appears that it turned out that it was the guys/gals and learner riders that were involved in the indiscretions. One particular instance was that a learner rode into the rear of a stationary Harley.
The format of the ride has now been changed and hopefully things will sort it self out.
Be carefull out there where riding in groups. Its hazardous.

Ahh i should be alright on a gixer, i have plenty of people down at the classic club that has known me for 10 years who are members down there now and where members in my old club that can vouch for me and my sensible style of riding especially in group rides, i also value my head bearings so i keep my tyres to the ground...last time i rode with them thought it was a old fella on a old BSA that was putting us young fellas on sports bikes to shame in the corners thought so they can be just as bad :-D ..but i will keep a eye on this section for the ride outs you guys arrange as well.

Any tips on long term storage for fuel injected bikes? I know to fill the tank, put extra air in the tyres, lift it off the ground and give it a thorough clean.
But I'll still worry about it when I'm gone. Will topping up the oil to the filler hole do any good? or just put some clean stuff in up to the normal level?

Cheers

Corby Rd crap on SH2 is apparently sealed now, and the approach to Saddle from the gorge-end of Woodville as well. The Condoit Rd gate has been removed. Just bypass Woodville altogether. Saddle itself isn't bad.
Been a few months since I went over the Annie, but as Wickle says, at least then there was still a bit of loose shit. Wasn't too bad tho. Not drifted up or anything, just a bit scattered. More psychologically off-putting than any real danger.

Having not been to one of these events, what exactly is it? 1/4 mile, street racing against other riders, a time event from one point to the other etc etc?

Haven't done this one before but i believe it to be a stretch of road a couple of km long uphill mostly with twisty corners and some straight aways...

The form a hill climb takes is...
Road is closed to all traffic, one bike is released at a time, races to the 'finishline' and the time it took is recorded.
All competitors take a turn, and then as a group return to the start area for another go-round. Depends on numbers attending, but there'd be 6+ runs each. There is the kudos of the best time, but really the aim is for each rider to improve their own times as the day progresses.

Some of our fellow HB riders may not be aware that Dave Fair did not make it home from his bike ride yesterday.

The family have asked to ensure that all his friends have the opportunity of atttending his funeral which will be held later this week - in order to accomodate those who are not here in NZ at this current time.

I will post up further details on when and where they come to hand. They would also like us to attend on our motorcycles, and the car club in their vehicles as a tribute to a wonderful friend and fellow rider.

The aftermath will be at the Hot Rod Club rooms by the speedway. We have been asked if we would like to assist in providing food (sandwiches, slices, cakes, savouries), or perhaps a monetary donation if you are unable to help in the food sense.

Please let me know via text 0272175925 - as the family have provided me with a contact in Avenue Road, Napier who will either collect or be the drop off point for food.

If you know anyone who is not on here, (members of the Classic Club have been advised also), but knows Dave and would like to be included, please let them know also.

They would like Bikes and Hot Rods as part of the procession.

They have yet to confirm that the venue will be at the Napier Sailing Club, then we all go to the Crematoriam, followed by the ride to the Hot Rod Club. 11am Friday is still unconfirmed, but I will know for certain tomorrow.

Good road for learning as far as i found it, a mixture of tight corners, long corners and a few nice straight bits everything you want from a ride, are you interested in a ride out Sunday? the weather is currently showing sunny with occasional showers on tvnz website on the weekend so i might still go otherwise i plan to go out on Monday or Tuesday instead weather also permitting?

Arranging the ride with a few others on the facebook group if people are keen.

Its about 30 minutes from Havelock North, i am going to ring them tomorrow to double check they are open this Sunday 12ish (no reason why not at this stage) and doing lunch.

If they are and the weather looks to be reasonable (plan to go unless its a downpour) then we will likely leave the BP at Havelock north around 1115am. That will get us there just before lunch(no obligation for anyone to have a full meal if finances are not too good), i figure a hour for lunch leaving at 1pm if not sooner, if we take the back road via waimarama back (still to be decided) we will be back in Havelock North by 2pm ish(tho you may want to continue off the tukituki to Napier the back way You should be home between 2pm-230pm if that gives you enough time to then go to work.

Voice up mate it shows you care for other bikers and learners out there but I dont plan on 150km+ speeds, assuming she can manage 100km that is fine. I have been in a few clubs and done dozens of rides outs in both small and large formations over my 15 years riding both here and in the UK, so the group i take out will be in formation with me bringing up the rear to look after learner riders, at this stage i have a pillion with me so i wont be doing any overly quick riding. Sure if people want to open it up on the straights and take off in front of the group that's fine with me, but anyone putting the rest of formation/group in danger with silly stunts and dangerous manoeuvres will swiftly get told to leave. I can assure you she will be well looked after. That said if it looks to all be well weather wise your welcome to join us too :-D
