... PISS POOR preparation...
Kind of like that Muppet that didn't torque his triple clamp up properly and tried to carry on racing with one fork leg pushed through?
I wonder what happened to him?

Carl Cox Motorsport report
Day 2 of the Croatian FIM Superside meeting found all teams making choices to try and deal with the incredibly abrasive surface we encountered over the last few days- the standard softer compound tyres simply wouldn't last for even yesterdays 10 lap race, so we decided to opt for a safe option on another set of brand new front/chair soft compound, and a harder, slightly used rear that was kindly offered to us by our pit neighbours John Holden and Barnes Racing for the today's tough 18 lap feature race.
A few suspension changes that we thought may help with the tougher surface unfortunately didn't work as well as planned at race pace and unfortunately our lap times were a bit slower in today's hot conditions.
The boys finished 9th overall, with most of the teams suffering loss of tyre quality before the end of the race- the front runners were posting very quick times regardless of tyre choice but there were some spectacular slides seen!
We're proud of a great result with two finishes, 15 World Championship points and some amazing memories with great people- we'll be seeing the other teams next weekend for the Hungarian Round to be held at Pannonia-ring, a new circuit on the FIM calendar which will be a new experience for many of the teams competing , can't wait to see it!
In the meantime, the team is taking a couple of days to recoup from the weekend, clean a lot of excess rubber from the bike, and get a wee bit of sightseeing before heading north to Hungary in time for as many practice laps as we can get:)
Thanks to all the kind wishes we've been receiving while on the road in Europe, we'll try to reply to everyone as soon as possible- Internet access has been up and down around the Croatian track over the last few days.
Bring on next weekend!!
Regards,
Carl, Colin, Robbie and Gav:)

It won the '95 TT with a 2007 engine. I'd buy it, obviously it is also a time traveller.
Or possibly now that it's been irreversibly fucked about with, the fact that several pieces of tubing on it were once part of a winning sidecar is irrelevant. I'd guarantee the forks & front & rear brakes didn't win any TT's either.
Nice outfit though.

I have no desire to be involved in any way with fuckin tricycles classic or modern with the way people are currently fucking everything up in order to push their own agenda's.
The classic guys can make their own fuckin retarded rules, one set for each team to make their sidecar the most competitive in their own class of one & the modern guys can all disagree with where to race for what championship until nobody races anywhere anymore.

Not for competition here but I think he used it in hillclimbs
I thought it was a 500cc triple?
It is, I'm not sure where I pulled the 175cc figure from, most likely out of my arse
The engine is a 3 cylinders 500cc with rotative carbon valves. The gearbox pinions and shafts are from a Kawa 500H1 and the clutch is also a 500H1 but modified. I use modified Wiseco pistons. The crankshaft, cylinders, cast crank-case and all other parts are home made. I dont know how much HP it deliver, but by comparison with my other sidecar ( RD500LC engine, 90HP), it should be arround 85HP at 10'000 rpm

We were tapped out in top slowly gaining on Goober/Matt but rapidly running out of running out of road, we slowly edge alongside and then in front just as we run out of room in the passing lane, Will flicks them a txt “get used to that view” and then we carry on to Levels
-5 degrees coming through Temuka and no warmer at the track, we get the body work out of the van and frost starts forming on it
Sidecar up on the stands and doing the checks we’d normally already have done but due to being away in Sunny Dunedin for week we were a bit behind schedule
All the checks done, nuts and bolts tightened, fuel checked, chain lubed and we’re set to go
P1
I don’t know what it is about the first practice of the season but I always end it feeling like an uncoordinated munter but my first thought when I nail it is “I should have closed my helmet vents because my head is bloody freezing”
Alex is off and hammering it, we take it a bit easier and find we’re getting front end slides off the end of the back straight which I haven’t ever experienced before
Alex/Andy bump the chair wheel over the kerb there and that then turns into a full 360 degree spin
Goober/Matt seem to be slowly gaining on us and the grid sheet confirms it
Alex/Andy P1, Goober/Matt P2, Warwick/Will P3, Kai/Matt P4, Phil/Steve P5 and James/Hayley P6
Bit of a check over and find Will makes an alteration to the rear as there’s a huge difference in tyre temp across the width
Race 1
Kai/Matt are so hard on gear don’t even make it up to the dummy grid before there’s an ominous knocking coming from the bottom end meaning their day is already over
Lined up behind Alex/Andy, flags down and we go, Goober/Matt light up the rear and we blow past them straight away into T1
Alex/Andy don’t seem to be trying too hard and we pull out and pass them, Goober/Matt try a pass next lap and we run side by side down the straight and we go back into the lead
We can hear him right behind us and then lap 3 the yellow flags out onto the start/finish straight and we see him parked off the side, it isn’t until a lap later I see Matt walking alongside the track a few hundred metres further back I work out what’s happened and that Matt owes beer
Alex/Andy make the pass on us with a couple of laps to go and slowly edge away for the win while we run in second
Alex/Andy 1st, Warwick/Will 2nd, James/Hayley 3rd, Phil/Stephen 4th
A few checks, refuel, another rear wheel adjustment and we’re set to go again
Race 2
Goober/Matt drop back a spot and put me up in P2, he’s planning on taking it easy to see how Matt goes after his tarmac surfing
Alex/Andy decide not to dick about this time and are into it hard from flag drop, we chase them for a few laps but they drop us off bit by bit, we’ve got a big gap back to James/Hayley who’re dicing with Phil/Stephen
Goober/Matt have pulled in with Matt’s bruising meaning he has no strength in his right arm to move about
Alex/Andy 1st, Warwick/Will 2nd, James/Hayley 3rd, Phil/Stephen 4th
Few more checks, more gas and another adjustment to the back
30 minutes before we go out the temperature at the track is 6 degrees and we reckon it’s dropped by the time we get out
Race 3
Alex/Andy put the hammer down hard again but we stick a bit closer to them although following him down the straight he goes in a bit deeper off the end under brakes
Goober has found another Matt to replace the first one he broke and is running around in third
Last lap and we’re still close enough to have a go at Alex/Andy when I blow the down change off the straight and he pulls a few extra bike lengths, I finally find a gear and wick it back up and around to the hairpin pull back all the space we’ve lost plus a bit more
Next left and through to the chicane and we’re about 10mm off their tray onto the start/finish straight and pull out to pass them before the line
Alex admitted later he thought we were much further back and had eased off a bit so I doubt he’ll make it that easy next time
Warwick/Will 1st, Alex/Andy 2nd, Goober/Matt2 3rd, James/Hayley 4th, Phil/Stephen 5th

Oil that I originally drained was still mint with no water so fuck knows how it happened that suddenly, although we have had to top it up 100-200 mls at the last couple of rounds so maybe the head gastket was about to blow, anyway gasket is ordered and on the way and Grumph will pick it up in the next couple of days, hopefully it isn't too fucked

No it doesn't, water disappeared pretty quick so I am hoping it is just a gasket and not something more serious, spare motor is already in and running
What did you use to clean the oil out of the radiator? just flush it a few times?, there's an oily film in the water now but doesn't look too bad

I have often (not for ages now) had to deal with complete cooling systems chock full of thick grey porridge from when BMW m20 engines used to crack the head between the cam gallery & the water jacket & continue to be driven for three months.
After putting a new head on we would put two litres of red floor cleaning detergent in them & give them an hour at 1800rpm with the garden hose in the coolant tank & the bleed screw open, never ever took a radiator out to get it cleaned & there were no premature water pump failures etc.
When pinky got a gut full of water I did the radiator that way, but with a bit less detergent. I also had to do nine oil changes after a two or three minute run before the oil came out clear, that's near enough 27 litres of oil & four oil filters, lucky it was sponsor product.
Work back from there depending on the severity of the contamination.

King of Levels Rd 2 15/08/15
The weekend before I’d been doing an oil change when it all turned to custard and a frost plug popping sometime between draining the oil, refilling it and firing it up dumped all the coolant into the oil which meant an engine change
After firing up the spare motor we had no oil pressure, a bit of dicking about pulling bits off to see where the oil was circulating to seemed to fix that
So we decided we’d go down the night before and do a bit of testing working on the principle we’d rather kill it in practice than on the race day
Test day went fine, we did several sessions and also took out newcomer to the sport Jessie to get a few more laps under her belt and with having the track to ourselves we also did a few practice starts as well
We dump in the shed and leave the trailer in the pits for the night to save loading up again and head off for the night
Arriving the next day we drag it out and give it a look over and put the wets on it as the weathers turned a bit crap
Practice
We head on out and start winding it up, slowly getting on the brakes harder and harder and giving it a bit of throttle at different parts of the track to check the grip levels
Yellow flags out on the start/finish and Goober/Matt are parked off the side
We do a few more laps then pull back in
Goober/Matt arrive back a bit later and it turns out to be nothing major and easily fixable
Race 1
We’re off P1 with James/Hayley P2, Matt/Goober P3 and Phil/Steve P4
We’re not trying very hard off the line and we get a good start and lead into turn 1, over the next few laps I can constantly hear Goober/Matt behind us and fully expect them to make or try a pass at some stage
Once we round the hairpin on the last lap and they haven't tried a move I know we have it in the bag and finish off in 1st with Goober/Matt right behind in 2nd James/Hayley 3rd and Phil/Stephen 4th
A check over between races reveals the water slightly low so we top it up and check a few nuts and bolts
Race two
Another good start and again we can hear Goober/Matt behind us; lap 2 and Goober/Matt outbrake us off the end of the straight and block us through the corner
I make sure we’re keeping up them and close enough to pass them and we follow them off the end of the straight on lap 3 thinking I will have a go at them there on the next lap
We come around to the hairpin and I’m thinking I might try an inside move but don’t quite have the room and then Goober/Matt spin right in front of us
We just about have to come to a dead stop to avoid t boning them and to give us room to go around the back of them and that gives them time to get into gear and get going again
I can hear them right behind us through T1/T2 and onto the straight so I take a more defensive line off the end and cover the inside
White flag and I can still hear then so I take the inside down the straight, it’s not as good as the outside as there’s more puddles
I catch a flash of red and white off the end as Goober/Matt try to go around the outside but I’m not backing out and they look like they’re going to run out of track before we do and we end the race with the same finishing order as the first
Checking it over before the next race and the water is slightly down again which is a bit of a worry but we top it up do the rest of the checks and get ready again
Race 3
I make the biggest cock up of any start ever, I normally put it in neutral until the lights come on and then click it into first
For some reason I forget to put it into gear and when the lights go out we’re going nowhere
I get it into gear and on the way quick smart and we arrive at T1 pretty much 3 wide with us on the inside, I have to back out and James/Hayley take the lead with Goober/Matt behind them
There isn’t enough room to go around the outside of T2 and we’re in 3rd coming onto the straight. Goober/Matt are pulling out to pass James/Hayley and we go around them as well and set off after Goober/Matt
We got a good run onto the straight and making up for our crap start and taking the inside line we outbrake them off the end
We can hear them at every corner and on lap 4/5 I cover the inside line off the straight so they have to take the long way around
I’m expecting them to try somewhere else on the track and when I cock the hairpin up on the last lap think that might be there chance but we have just enough of a lead that they can’t do it and finish in the same order again
Despite the crap weather and being on wets all day a fairly enjoyable days racing

It is with great sadness and heartache that I announce the devastating news that happened at Taupo racetrack at the NZCMRR winter classic.
At approximately 2pm on Saturday the 5th of September 2015, while selflessly helping people stay comfortable, my EZ-up got fucken murdered by a freak gust of wind.
R.I.P Bluey.
If anybody would like to sponsor me an EZ-up that would be pretty chur.

R90/6 thank you.
Not a slabbie, a 140hp, fully sorted class leading pre '82 GSX1100, & the difference was nearly four seconds in the BMW's favour.
I thought I'd lost the plot until I started coming down with a bit of a flu properly last night.
I felt rusty & messy on it & couldn't work it out, although I didn't want to alter it from Jays preferred settings, as it's his ride.
Had a man to man with Trevor H & he told me that if I wasn't enjoying it I should chuck it in the van, as the Moto GP talent scouts weren't there on Sunday, so I did & it was the right choice.

Good to here he is out an about at least. Re Vince, his fitting skills are 100% or not at all. I gave them a Tyre temp probe years back, that is deff Vince;s favourite tool in the box. If tyre is not working at reccomended best carcass temp, it is not working anywhere near it;s best, learned that one a long time ago. Not PSI, but temp, am sure you understand that, just elaberated in case others reading did not understand.

You might have a chance of winning the north island round, since everybody else will be in aussie.
The 4-5 of us that stay at home might be there

Hoping the new swinging arm and shock will fix our handling issues and we can challenge further up the field than we have been.

I do but the reality for me is I can't afford to have a month off work to go down south and if we have already missed 3 rounds then we might as go have fun in aussie, I only make up the numbers over here anyway at least over there a few riders are at the same speed as me so I actually get to do some racing and not just circulate :-)

You dont need a month off, as I've shown before you just need to be better organised and get stuff booked well ahead then you need maybe 7-8 days
We used to do two North Island round two weeks apart with 4-5 days off
Doesn't really matter, if there's enough of us we'll have a series, if there isn't we wont
Last round of King of Levels this weekend, next weekend it's King of Ruapuna then we'll prep for the Shorai, looks like just Me, Will, Goober and Matt heading up to it

yeah but how was your passenger?
I was on my way to pick him up.
What's the chances of my business winning the rock morning smoko today!! Awesome feed & still had a heap left for lunch, Thanks to my Mrs for txting us in even though she works on the other side of town.
So anyway, we have that much food that we invite the new next door neighbour over, a truck body building company that has recently moved from Wellington.
Then, what's the chances that one of his staff was Tracey's childhood playmate & his old man & Tracey's old man were a sidecar team in the '70's.
Son of a bitch, I enter that every week. That's the Mizzoni pizza aye?
All you pay for is flights and insurance, they cover entrys, shipping the bike and garages, last time only cost us about $700
Really? .... wonder if I'm allowed a passport yet....
At least you have a sidecar to take, I had to go and watch my wife race.
Hehe

Turn up at enough meetings and eventually you win stuff

Last year we got 2 out of 3 club championships, I'd lke to get the hat trick to be the first to win all three as passenger and rider but some old pensioner keeps thrashing us whenever he turns up

Not everyone manged all rounds or all races and one slab of beer is owed and should be more on the grid at Ruapuna rounds

They swear it's the only real class of racing. I like to fuck them off though. Wish I could do it with results, I ride the things all wrong.
