Bit of a weird accident with Steinhausen at the end

Seems strange that he reacted in that way to make it flip. Surely he could have just slammed on the brakes in a straight line.....?

P.s, and the Lawrences losing their guard by smashing into us on the same day was a genuine racing incident & not caused by stupidity on the part of either party, it was a combination of close racing & a mechanical failure on one of the machines that caused it to suddenly lose forward motion.
Two things here
(1) Lawrances is spelt as I just did
(2) this incident wasn't a 'genuine racing incident' Your team should have pulled out of that race rather than endanger yourselves and fellow competitors.
If the marshalls were doing there job properly that weekend your team should've been black flagged as the issue that caused this coming together was a worsening mechanical fault, the video clearly shows this.

Apparently a few don't want us racing and rather we were dropped, and if its 2 years in a row then.. we probably won't have the chance 2014..

Hang on a minute Spyda, let me get this right.
So, you're now saying that I did have a worsening mechanical fault with my machine, but a few weeks ago you said I was just making excuses for not winning??? So which is it?? Whichever bullshit excuse suits your purpose the best I guess - am I right?!
Maybe I was just pretending to have a mechanical failure so I could use that as an excuse for not beating Adam?? Stands to your reasoning.

Maybe all sidecars should park up whenever they have a mechanical fault? That would see about a 1/4 of the field disappear.....

Maybe people who brake too early for a corner should be made to pack up and go home for endangering other teams behind them?
Maybe people who change their lines whilst braking should be made to pack up and go home for endangering other teams behind them?
Maybe those who start too early.......
Maybe those who miss gears....
Maybe those who's visors fog up.....
Maybe those who run slicks in the wet....
Maybe those whos passengers are not up to standard.....
Maybe those who have the wrong trail/castor angles set up....
Maybe those whos have faulty riding gear....
Maybe those that have a deflating tyre....
Maybe those that don't heed the flag signals.....

But wait Spyda, what about when marshalls/stewards fuck up too??? Should we black flag them for making bad judgement calls too?

Back to Nationals.. whos coming, whos not? whos entering now?? Entries close next week Friday - IF WE DONT HAVE 10 ENTERED WE ARE OUT, and that will be 2nd time in a row so doubt we will have a 3rd chance to get a class together. I'm putting my entry in next Tuesday. I think we have 4 south island bikes, Macdonald father son combo, team agip, harris n co and the long windle. Dunno if pig n goober gonna actually do it. Annan wasn't sounding too excited about it all.. think he might go fishing instead :D
So we are struggling as usual and would need 5 or 6 bikes from north.. 5 if pig n goober put an entry in.

We can help with storeage of bikes down in chch, we can provide workshops to work in, got lathes, drill presses, hand tools, welders, compressors. I'm happy to taxi ppl to and from airport etc etc anything to help.

We did good at BSTTC and Wangas entries look healthy. Nats is important.. so cheers for all of you who enter and keep the sport going cause I love it and I'm only just starting, I wanna be able to race sidecars for the next 20 years and get news teams into it build numbers etc.

Firstly Nothings 'up with me', I have no chip on my shoulder I am however a little over Funeral food this year as I have lost three people on the race track that I considered Friends, at three meetings where I was Commentating.
You stated that this was a 'Genuine Racing Incident', I believe it was caused by a repeating mechanical fault.
I watched the Pirate pull up on the line and I was waiting for the impact, that was a ________ move, but what if Scrivy had missed a gear in the same spot with the LawrAnces right up your tail. sure the speed differentials in both situations would have been different but it still could've ended in tears so easily.
Sorry if you're offended, sorry if you question whether you still want to consider me as a friend but I've seen more than one person die on the track in avoidable circumstances and I don't want to see anymore if I can help it.

The black flag is for mechanical faults, not for disciplining people as I understand it BTW, there is a process for disciplinary matters at the track which I believe you followed regarding Pete the Pirate, I have no problem with him being hauled up for this and would support any measures in incidents such as this too.

I have considered you a friend, if somewhat distant, for many years & have enjoyed sporadically sharing space with you over the years, at racing, rallys & wherever else bikes have caused us to meet.
Excuse the Lawrance thing, as you may know, I have a couple of chums with the surname Lawre/ance, & sometimes mix them up a bit, the other one being Jay.
I noticed your comment the other day "do they still have racing up north" this after we had full grids in both classic & modern at Hampsters, during a sucessful Manfield meeting, & while we have well in excess of ample entries for Wanganui, & I felt that was a little off & un called for & that in part promted the "chip on shoulder" comment.
I respect your passion & knowledge for the history of all things motorcycle & look forward to having a beer with you p.m 26th Dec.
I too am tired of funeral food & consequently will be taking matters into my own hands, as I did last year, & informing the Cem Circ sidecar virgins of the hidden dangers that have claimed the lives of a few of my mates over the years.

No no no, that was his findings. The assesment was poking the shifter a couple times in the pits, with a spanner in hand. Then he walked off muttering something about 'that fuckin Steve'.

Fucksakes Tracey had fallen off, done a cartwheel, threw a sidecar off its rider back onto its wheels, rode back to the pits, and had a tray of piss delivered all in 15mins.

And if she had packed the dustbuster in the pannier she would have fitted some vacuuming in there somewhere too!!

Fuck me I need to get a sidecar!

I built a bucket racer to take the edge of the need to race. You'd think they were running MotoGP the way they talk about rules, bikes, how good they ride.

Doesn't help that I can't ride small bikes to save myself, and every single cunting one of them is sure they can tell me the best way to ride.

Please, everyone start offering five grand to the guy that's got Bill's old Windle, so when I make a better offer, it gets accepted. Before I throttle some small bike riding FAG. Warwick.. This was completely about you.

Maybe Shaun if you'd listened objectively to people, rather than letting some people make up your mind for you, you'd have had a better understanding of certain circumstances, rather than just call people wankers, then not expecting them to bite back.
I guess what I'm saying is don't always believe what you hear - rather go and ask people for their own explanation.
There are some in our sport that tell enormous lies - and if the shit sticks to just one person, then it gets distributed to others as fact.
I think you'll find that Bob doesn't spin lies, and he helps more than he hinders.

Dont panic bro, Shaun has taken it international and most people on the IOM forum are enjoying his comedic efforts -

http://www.iomtt.com/Home/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PageIndex=1&PostID=304261

I especially like his commets re Guy Martin -

Extremelly comfortable with my memory of the track, as when I watch my own on board DVD I call out my reference points in advance of them arriving, and hey presto, I do what is relivent at those points.

I will travel the track for 1 lap when I arrive for practise week, as I do NOT believe in doing laps in a car at car pace, as this is totally un relivent to bike race speed making it potentually dangerous and I am not a newcomer needing this experience or knoledge.

Re Guy, we all know the man has more than enough talent to be a winner there, as far as I see it, the problem lies in his head and the mental preperation reqd to focus and stay focused for the time reqd to race fast all race long.

I think he should be working with a specialist and learn how to controll his wondering concentration, as that is the only thing that stops him from becoming a winner there without any genuine bad luck of course.

Well done for your glory days, but let it go, these multiple failed and well publicised comebacks arent doin you any favours. If you want to come back, then fine,do it under the radar, but announcin yearly that your doin this, doin that and then pullin out at the last minute aint helpin anyone especially yourself. when you say it pumps out the right volts, what are the right volts? best way to check whether it's charging is a clip on ammeter on the alternator wires set on AC

the voltage won't always leap up as it may take time for the battery to absorb the charge; then increase the voltage.

Manual says it should be a no load ac voltage of 65 volts (unpluged from rectifier etc). It is now after the rewind, but there is no increase at the battery (when plugged back in)....
My road Busa shows about 14.7 volts at the battery straight after its started. The sidecar shows no change....
I will try the battery change out tomorrow - as it was missing intermittantly at HD - and I suspect the battery now (maybe)....
Could explain why I said to Bob it felt down on power........

Well ive finally recovered from the weekend.
This inconsiderate prick called Drew popped in 10.30am Saturday with a big box of Heineken & we proceeded to polish the lot off & my stock as well. Nek minnit it was 6.30pm & we were pissed & sunburnt.
Sunday, find my trailer at Gordys place, travel to Hamilton & shift Jay, drive across Hamilton, pick up Agip sidecar from Nev's & back to Jays for a barbie & home a bit too late.
Have to say, Nev has done some fantastic work on Agip, in a way that only he can. The guy has his own standards of workmanship & quality.
We also gave his Matchy a run for the first time in two years, after it chucked a rod on his back lawn, just before Phillip isl 2010.
It sounded awesome & just needed a minor belt alignment before its ready to rock & roll.

The BMW classic will be ridden by Terry Gay & passengered by Gregg Butler. They run a period 5 '72 CB750 powered front exit outfit in Aussie.
Trace & I met them at the Island classic in 2010 & again both times we did Eastern Creek.
Apparently bike street circuits are non existant in Aus, & this is their chance to give one a go.
Looking forward to hanging out with them & watching the BM get another a good thrashing.

I forgot to mention Graeme Harris is looking to offload his 'classic' Mo Haley short bike.

273915

Unsure of year, mines about a 1984 and his is a few years older.

He didn't actually give me that many details to advertise it but I pass on the price which was the main bit and bulk up the details with whatever he gave me or what I think I know:

9.5k as is (lol)
Motor in the chassis is his 'Hot' motor. This Carb'd earlier R1 motor has a Klaus Klaffenböck cylinder head (edit: head comes off the klaffi LCR that pirate has)
It's never been on a dyno that I know of - but I have heard him claim 170hp several times. (It is pretty rapid in a straight line - especially considering how heavy the bike is)
2 X Spare R1 Motors. Unknown condition, one in various pieces would need reassembly.
6 Rims at least, 3 with slicks on and 3 with wets, he may have a couple extra rims. All steel I assume.
Bike runs trailing link setup upfront but only uses one shock, and monoshock rear as well with a single side swingarm.
Carbon fibre airbox.. temp guage. About the only luxuries..
Might have a few spare tyres to throw in..

Bout it, he said he would negotiate possibly, selling the hot motor seperate and selling the bike with a standard r1 for cheaper.

I had a friend in chch offering him 5k for it and he didn't wanna sell it..

PM me and he said I can pass his cell number along if anyone is interested.

yea but could you change gear? I only used one or two and often didn't bother. we hadnt made a working gear shifter at levels. haven't had a go at levels since we made one :) but we did 1.55 at puna when we finished it.

damn long legs, I still don't fit in it properly, when I do it'll be much easier to ride.

Move the knee holders forward I would think. Rather than trying to re engineer the pegs. That way it's easy as fuck to put packers in if anyone else is riding. Plus, fibre glass is much easier to work with, than linkage rates and shit.

haha did ya? thought u did 1.58

yea the fuel tank makes up the left kneeler bit.. we will rebuild it when we have a gap. will need to cut and re weld the fuel tank and chop up the seat. she'll be right!

and no fibreglass on agip bike.. steel/aluminium haha. only the main fairing is fibreglass.

haha different bike doesn't count ;) AND unofficial.. what is this? haha.

I don't think prev owner managed to peddle the agip bike around puna faster than 1:55.. and dunno bout earlier in its life.. I'm gonna keep going and see how fast I can get it around without touching the engine.

next few pay checks to save and then will try new avons all round (maybe for nats.. maybe). switching from bridgestones.

suspension could probably be rebuilt as well I'm guessing.. and setup for our team weight n shit
