Vince and Jamie biggs,

the finest sidecar riders i've ever seen ride at the Cemetery, saw them flick their wheel up on the grass through the esses once and went 'phew, they got away with that' they went and did the same every lap

Yes, a fairly decent MNZ official didn't mince words about that one with me.

I worked at a petrochemical plant as an operator and a permit issuer - I know the hazards/ramifications.....
I also remember once when the entire plant had to be shut down for many many weeks (at a loss of nearly a million a day) due to a piece of pipe on the ammonia plant that had a wall thickness that should have been about an inch (due to running 5000psi ammonia through it), but instead was only a few mm due to wear and tear. If that fucker had of gone off, a 10 km radius around the plant would have been wiped out. It was only detected by someone inadvertently testing the wall thickness with xray.....

So how again does visual inspection detect that? How safe are we really with our scrutineering? No one picked up my about to shear brake torque arm..... no one can detect if a brake line will burst....

Scrutineers do their best at the time, to limit dumb fuckers from not following the rulebook. After the inspection, the riders are on their own.... and so too are the other track users......

The dude has no secrets, if you can beat him after he's told you exactly how it's done, then you probably deserve to beat him. Pretty much how he explained it to me.
I've been trying to rationalise what I saw with Tim on the weekend & this is the best I've got.
Imagine you had never seen a shovel before, & a farmer gave you a pile of fence posts & a shovel & told you to put the fence posts in the ground.
So you take the posts & start beating them in by using the shovel as a kind of hammer, it works, but is hard work, quite slow & not particularly efficient & the results are complete shit & you can't work out why the farm hand (scrivy) is laughing at you.
The farmer turns up & shows you how to use the shovel to dig a hole & immediately you realise that you have been using the tool completely incorrectly & to poor effect.
Suddenly I realised that LCR's & the likes can be used in a way that I like to see sidecars used & I am a huge fan.

A couple of pics from yesterday.
Our British friends Tiim Reeves & Mark Wilkes (Nivea boy)
Young Mark has lovely skin on account of using vast quantities of Nivea cream.
He also came about two degrees front tipping Tina, himself & pinky completely upside down exiting turn one yesterday.
He swapped ends & went backwards off the track, only Tina's quick thinking by dropping down & pushing out to the left as it spun saved the day.

the best way to gauge the price would be to first find somebody who wants to buy it, this ask them how much they want to pay.

I'm not sure that you would be able to, exchange rate has shit itself compared to even a year ago and most stuff I have seen would be considerably more

Cheapest bike lately on Steve's Place was a 1998 Long Windle with a K1 GSXR1000 for 7000GBP, the LCRs were from 14-20k ranging from 1999-2010

It has there best Race motor in it currently, and the spare base tuned motor is now back in Auckland, as they decided fuk it if the race motor had a drama at wanga, there is not enough time to bother trying to swap a motor out. They will have a bunch of used slicks for sale at wanga though if any one needs some thing

Adam reckons it only puts out 163 at the tread. I find it hard to believe that's their best race motor, or he was telling me porkies. Our stock 12 puts down 165, and that was on a really accurate dyno system with a huge loss through a tyre driving onto another tyre jig thingie. (Dyno was for cars). And fuck off with the "extra 200cc" bulshit. You all know damn well that the litre bikes all make more power AND torque. The heavier crank helps to take off, and then any thou should smoke it.

Hey Spyda, I saw some bitch complained about your commentating at levels the other week.
For fucks sake don't let one small minded God bothering pedophile hypocrite spoil the most informed & humorous commentating this country has had for Boxing Day.
My old man told me, "tall trees catch a lot of wind" don't be afraid to be a tall tree.
P.s, I actually have no idea who complained, I just fabricated a cap to fit the behaviour.

the complaint doesn't worry me whatsoever, and at least Brendan has beliefs and actually took the time to write it down, put it in an envelope, pay for fastpost as it got to wanganui from christchurch within a week. Without complaints, or support you can't easily gauge on how good/bad a job you have.
it was simply over the word shit, nothing more nothing less., and the word shit at a classic meeting, small crowd not streamed nor recorded.

This was then put to me as a warning by the management. I can spend all the time on the mic with out the f's and c's, in fact you might hear bugger once in a while, no bloody's (yip i said fuck at hd two years ago, and meant to say it just that once) and rarely the word shit either, no rasicm, very little sexist remarks, yes the odd ginga goes down.....

But i couldn't work well on sunday with that hovering over my head and while most people don't think i have i do have some level of pride, I would rather walk than be pushed and if i slip up that's what they've promised me.
Last year i had a similar talking too, about some of my comments, fair enough and didn't say anything other than about racing all day long, not a single word of thanks either
Last year I was banned from the Robert Holden Memorial prize giving at the track, despite one of my jobs being to assist Roberts Mother Bette, who was 85 and in a mob scooter, to get safely to the awards in a large crowd. Depsite having my name on the winning bike the three years prior, and possibly a forth; I wasn't even allowed to assist her, i have no idea why. I had paid to get in the meeting, i had brought my own programme, but did get a free lunch.
it'll be my fiftieth boxing day, might sit in the esses with a box of cold ones instead.
