Well, if anyone is still interested in sidecars...

This is the engine from the ex George White/Steve Gourdie outfit from the 80's. It's being revived with a view to parading at this years SCF.
Just completed the engine. Someone else is doing the rest. Northerners will remember this outfit as being an annoyingly quick SI local at Nationals.
It ran on big jolts of Nitro at the time. Petrol is in it's future now.

Basically a CB500 four. The four "C"s are done.
Capacity - shall we say, not far short of 700cc...Looks like 750 sleeves with oversize flattops of unknown origin.
Compression - Um, bloody high.
Cam - not marked but I think it's the old Yosh R & T grind from kelford. For 750's so big in a smaller engine.
Carbs - Bigger than stock. I think they may be 750 bodies in the 500 rack.

Jelly removed from the sump - castor oil...Rings unstuck, valves lapped and new seals. Bores deglazed. Years of baked on castor removed
It's exactly as received. No "tuning" No cosmetic improvements. Just clean.

It's actually the Wanganui Aero Works GSX which has it's own history. George owned it for a fairly short time before he died in a road accident.
I think Spyda said a while back that it still exists.

about two bits of it these days if any, the lawrance bros got it and chopped it around, the fairing was a steve roberts alloy one, long gone and an absolute peice of artwork....

...it's got three wheels and an engine...it's the result of a broke builder and a broke butcher doing something with shit, including the motor from one garage...like I said , testing our thingy will be Friday week...our parameters for success are bounded by only three things...will it run, will it run in a straight line and will it go round corners...that remains to be seen...for fucks sake don't start bringing up technicalities now, far too late...they make grinders still, and cut off wheels are cheap and our welder works for bourbon...

Well I hate to disappoint, but I can see just by looking that it's going to go around left corners differently to right corners.
You may need a chum on the side to stable it up & you may also need to convince him to scramble around a bit.

...Quite a few problems to fix but it finished three of four races so we are kinda happy with that for it's first time out and the first time we had actually ridden it...battered and bruised from a spectacular, they say, bit of spinning and digging a big hole in the grass in race one...cool weekend and I'm fucked...:yawn:...so many chairs and happy people on them...unbelievably cool...
