Interesting day at levels, spent about 90 minutes going over the setup on our bike with Spike

As a result of that it now the easiest to ride it ever has been and using a phone app for timing around 2 sec a lap faster than our previous best

It will be interesting to see how accurate that is once the transponder goes on tomorrow

· Suzuki K7 engines – British Championship spec fitted. 3 others: 1 x TT Spec, 1 x Brit spec, 1 x completely standard
· Latest spec Nitron suspension front and rear

Had a FaceTime yarn with Tim This morning.
He's picked up his F2 from Moly after a heap of improvements & mods & it's in his van on IOM for testing next week while he visits his daughter in Ireland this weekend.
He's absolutely buzzing about what a weapon it is & how nice Daves workmanship is.
It's part Moly, part LCR & part Windle (DMR use Windle forks) with a helping of Reeves thrown in.
It should be very interesting come TT time.

He currently lives in Rotorua with partner Rachel. She used to swing for Andy Kippen on the Boyle Kawasaki Steve Roberts built monster monocoque sidecar.
Warwicks sidecar was a 'sitter' called Sylvester - cant remember its engine... a z1000??? I think they finished racing late 80's

Sidecar question.
I had never met him but an old mate came around yesterday with his younger brother.
Warwick Jamieson. Rode sidecars, maybe Kawasaki for Boyles Wgton ???

His brother has been a mate for about 45 years and I've never met Warwick.

first remember Warwick and Fred U-Bitch Fred's surname was like a draw from a scrabble game on a bad day and i could never pronounce it.
i've a photo of them riding a solo at gracefield i took once, it was a three wheeler till one came loose, and it's about to clock the swinger in my shot. Warwick then built the sitter, which fell apart on the way into turn one at wanganui, it had good ideas but i don't beleive the engineering was there to make it happen.
after that at the ACU conference there was a remit to ban sitters, instead of failing this bike some clever cunt thought they'd make a rule to outlaw it. Had to laugh as we all knew the hiddn agenda of the remit, someone stood up and said shitter in a genuines freudian slip, instead of sitter......
Saw Warwick and Rachel at cemm cct in 2014, after a few years away from the track.

It was a recommendation by the coroner, not an official rule, as far as im aware.

How do you determine the difference between a modern and a classic?

the Beemer was the most modern bike I could afford, and had modern smart cat tyres on it.

some fun sponge at the Burt Munroe in 2014 thought that the pre 76 chairs shouldn't race with the pre 63 chairs because they were more modern, and submitted a proposed rule change to MNZ.

Technical, where hard evidence is visible, wrong rim width, oversize engine, no way would it be dismissed - at least down here....

How long ago was that Greg? The Bailey debacle couple years ago is what illustrated the futility of the rules in my mind.

The rebuild costs were always an option to be ordered as part of the judgement. New rule just clarifies it.

It was many moons ago, yes, tail end of the original 250 prod class era. Some now famous names were caught that day....
I'd argue the the Baillie episode was not a debacle as the appeal committee upheld the rule book - as they should have.
Where things went pear shaped was trying to run a series off one person's interpretation of those rules. A piece of paper supplied to people wanting to run that class does not and can not over rule what's in the book already for that class. If the person concerned thought the rules were wrong, they should have put in a remit tidying it up before trying to run a National Championship on rules designed for club level...
So yeah, an MNZ fuckup on several levels.

My advice at the time, given publicly on here, was to fight it and race under appeal. Kevin McCleary always said, make the bastards prove their case - even if it's MNZ protesting.

I remember reading about one year at the Aussie 6 hour
A few factory supported bikes were found to be 1mm over, which in itself was fine, but they were found to have also had the bores offset to alter the cam timing. (Clever aye)
After much discussion it was decided this was fine but only by a given amount as they were factory supported they had plenty of spares.
There was also much time spent making standard tanks larger by freezing them while filled with liquid etc.
The tighter the rules, I feel the more often people break them. Also when people think other are cheating and getting away with it. The more often other people consider cheating.

I remember reading about one year at the Aussie 6 hour

The aussie 6 hour was an unusual event in that pre race there was a teardown of every entry - and it had to match the factory specs in the manual.

Try and get that done here. The head scrutineer who was a really tough bastard died a year or so back.

I was told that the very fragile XS750 Yamaha twins just scraped in with some last minute swapping back in of standard parts. None of the factory entries lasted but one private one did. The factory bought it back out of the finishers park to find out how...The riders were happily drinking the profits in the bar and were quite open about how it lasted - they never went over 6000rpm all race...

And just for those who may be budgeting a protest, don't waste you money protesting the Hayabusa.

And just for those who may be budgeting a protest, don't waste you money protesting the Hayabusa.
Yeah, not only was it standard, it was also pretty third hand by the time you got it.
But it was fun fudging dyno sheets by doing runs in third gear to mess with everyone's heads, then secretly sharing them with the biggest gossip at the track, whoever that may happen to be on the day.
Surprising how people that could probably beat you kind of give up when they think you have 248 rear wheel HP told to them in strictest confidence by a third party.

Bit of a stir over drug test results at the nats. Astrid failed for taking valium. Haven't a clue why both of them needed to find a stand in.

Alan and I have been working hard (and being well rewarded) toward our new sidecar fund.

Top one not making any comments on that, leave that to others. New sidecar fund, have you's got one in mind? are you going to sell the old one, keep it for a spare or strip it for parts?

I'm not making accusations bro. Astrid has said she was on Diazapam and it caused the test to return a reading. This was on Facebook where she was trying to warn other racers that a doctors note needs to be carried when on prescription meds.

Diazapam is Valium.

Anyhoo. Old sidecar will get dragged around for other people to ride untill it sells. We're a wee way off a new one though, bringing a real good short chair in from England isn't cheap.

Actually that's a good point raised , need to check my asthma medication i think some of the steroids involved with it would give a reading too. wonder if carrying copy of prescription form is okay?

Gets a little bit grey. The test at the track doesn't identify any substances, just detects that there is something there.

What is a doctors note going to do? Does that mean if I get a note from my drug dealer, its ok for me to be on heroin?
