View Full Version : The American (USA) 2016 presidential elections thread?

Yeah. I would associate the phrase, "little monkey" with a mischievous child. In the US it's used very differently.
Like the word 'thug'. When you see or hear that word used the subject always seems to be black. Thug is the new N word?
Was common usage in Britain as such when I lived there, certainly heard it lots as a kid growing up here.
Thug = Thuggee = Indian origin, no black American history at all. Is there a trend there of adopting other culture's words, changing the meaning and then getting offended when anyone else uses them?

Only if it suits ones agenda.

Just in reply to comments on what I said, it appears to me that it seems to be mostly a sub section of right leaning white people who seem to analyze if or how black a person is. The Black/brown people do not seem to talk about that very much.
Similar experience here, except it seemed to me to be left leaning American white people that were the most vociferous in defending black rights against perceived offense from cultures outside of the US. Maybe I'm wrong, but either way by all means fuck all bigots that can't recognise that cultural mores beyond their own back yards might not agree 100% with their own.

And yet, if he was the shrewd towering mountain of intellect you seem to think he is, he would only be tweeting out about the strong (for now) American economy giving himself the maximum chance of reelection - rather than tweeting out controversial distracting tweets that are alienating more and more voters thus shrinking his ever diminishing base.
And yes I get it, for people like you, these tweets are hugely entertaining - but in effect Trump is smashing himself in the bread basket over and over again. And for that reason people like me also find these tweets hugely entertaining. :2thumbsup

Nope Trumps a (stable) genius and I'll tell you why...
The Dems were starting to turn on AOC and her crew. Odds are they were going to be largely marginalized soon.
Trump picks a fight with them and now the dems are circling the wagons- around some of the least popular people in the country. Ilhan Omar has an approval rating of 9% in a recent poll. AOC is like 26%. Just lol.
Can you imagine if he can actually keep 2020 framed as him against this crew?
He's going to beat reagans records.

"I could go through a lengthy punchlist of examples of Trump statements and moves that prove the 3D chess theory, but that would dramatically overtake the space this column has to offer. Instead, let’s just talk about this weekend’s flare-up over the president’s Twitter outburst aimed at The Squad — the four idiot freshman Democrat congresswomen, led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, who have spent their time as elected officials offering one inappropriate and stupid anti-American outburst after another.
Paul Mirengoff at Power Line pointed out why. AOC and Omar, particularly, are becoming two of the best-known members of Pelosi’s caucus, and they are both becoming absolutely radioactive. To wit …
A May poll reportedly found that Ocasio-Cortez is profoundly unpopular in congressional districts throughout America. More than 74 percent of those surveyed recognized her name. Only 22 percent had a favorable view of her.
Ilhan Omar fared even worse. She was recognized by 53 percent, with only 9 percent holding a favorable view. Socialism was viewed favorably by 18 percent and unfavorably by 69 percent.
Chris White of the Daily Caller says Democratic leaders are concerned that with all the publicity Ocasio-Cortez and Omar generate, the party might lose the House. Ocasio-Cortez “is getting all the news and defining everyone else’s races,” one operative fretted.
A top Democrat involved in the 2020 congressional races told Axios, “If all voters hear about is AOC, it could put the [House] majority at risk. [S]he’s getting all the news and defining everyone else’s races. Socialism is toxic to these voters.”
So what do you do if you want to ensure Omar and AOC poison those so-called moderate Democrats who won those swing House districts last year?
You force Pelosi into bed with them."
Which is precisely what Trump has done.
Cliffs:
- 4 idiot freshmen "congresswomyn" are toxic to voters
- Trump mocks and forces Pelosi and democRATs to defend 4 idiots
- Pelosi and democRATs become toxic to voters too
- Trump wins back House in 2020!

Ok, I'm pretty sure you know that anyone that feels the need to tell you they are a genius - is very unlikely to be one. Further more, anyone that feels the need to prefix the word "genius" with the word "stable" is almost very certainly a stark raving nut job - and with there being so much proof of that out there - I don't want to overrun the forums poor server listing it all :msn-wink:
Ok - for a bit of balance on this "anonymous" poll you mention, check out the following link - https://news.yahoo.com/axios-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-poll-215718719.html
But you know, I'm going to give you credit - that is actually a good strategy if what that anonymous poll says is true, in fact a very, very good strategy - had he "strategically" deployed it a week before the election.
But your man has blown his wad ridiculously early, in fact it lies several foot before poor unsatisfied stormys feet! Crikey, she hadn't even had a chance to get her bra off :pinch:

All the signs in the background are ANTIFA. We even have "de colonize aotearoa" with a hammer and sickle under it. They are simply hiding behind being anti-facist to spout all their other complete garbage. And of course the usual lemmings fall for it. I have another somewhere with Golriz actually on an antifa NZ forum helping to organize a rally. Of course NZ ANTIFA is like ANTIFA in the rest of the world "lite" they have not quite evolved to smashing gay journalists over the head with concrete filled milkshakes or bikelocks, wearing facemasks and attacking people they dont agree with and then running away like little girls.... No NZ ANTIFA for now are just calling in bomb threats to theaters with productions that their politics doesnt agree with and generally being degenerates....

I don't fully understand the Oz system but it has its own anomalies.
One of Pauline's party got himself elected to the senate but was then disqualified because he was not an Australian citizen, or held dual citizenship, or similar. Apparently their system stipulates that the next highest polling candidate from that party then gets the seat.
The next highest polling candidate was Fraser Anning with nineteen votes. Nineteen votes and a seat in the senate! You may recall Fraser, he distinguished himself by getting egged after he blamed the Christchurch mosque shootings on immigration.
Our system may not be perfect but we don't accidentally elect idiots with less votes than you can count on your fingers and toes.

Yeah - He is the Chinese Labour MP accused of having links with the Chinese CPR - and accused of being part of Chinese influence in the NZ elections. He quit as a committee chair - not because he had such links, but he believed it was in the best interests etc - and to be totally transparent - or something like that.
The National MP actually worked for the Chinese spy agency ..
That one was also linked to simple simon's scandal - of accepting a Chinese donation in return for a Chinese MP on the national benches.

lawfareblog.com is a website where American lawyers publish blogs of interest primarily to other American lawyers. There is also sometimes discussion of topical news items of more general interest. Being aware that the Mueller Report is not an easy read, even many of those such as politicians who are paid to read it have not made the effort.
Presumably because they feel the information contained in the report needs to be more accessible, Lawfare has produced a podcast series. There is not one voice droning on, where someone, say Jack Dorsey Twitter CEO, is required to be quoted they use a clip from the testimony he gave to Congress. It's his own voice. Episode 1 lays out the extensive (and very successful) attempts by the Russians to disrupt US social media. The duration of the podcast is thirty eight minutes.
"The Lawfare Podcast" is available from all the usual sources. We should all have time to listen: doing the dishes, in the shower, or just sitting with a beer after a hard days work, some will be able to listen at work.

Thereby showing a certain lack of perspective. In my experience the rules of engagement are adhered to, but that does not prevent a random act to the contrary although such would be very rare. It certainly isn't proven yet in the current case. New Zealand though is never more than a bit player on the world stage.
There is clear evidence that Russia interfered to get Trump elected, there is also evidence that Trump is dancing to Putin's tune.
Trump is disrupting long standing alliances with resulting instability in the world, primarily to Russia's advantage.
Trump's stupid "easy to win" trade war could disrupt world trade, and as a trading nation we are at the mercy of any damage that he does.
His economic moves at home could crash the US economy which would also damage ours.
What is happening in the US of A effects us, but there is really nothing we can do about it. Our choice is simply to be informed or to join the 'sheeple'.

Yeah, you could see that, Michael Moore did and said so. Or you could see a very experienced lawyer being very careful with his words.
The Democrats did rather better than I thought they would in their questioning. The Republicans did what was expected.
The problem is that apparently very few people have read the report, even in Congress where they are paid to read the bloody thing. This in spite of the fact that it's available free from the Justice Dept website, although the careless rich can buy a copy.
The Democrats were hoping to get an easily digestible movie version of the report. In that they were shit outa luck.

Not really. It’s some 400 pages a lot of which he didn’t write. He had seventeen lawyers on his team. He wanted to be correct and he was constantly checking the report and that he had the question right.
Gym Jordan likes to star at these things, he’s the one who never wears a jacket. He was a wrestling coach or gym teacher at a school where it’s alleged that the doctor was fiddling with the boys. Gym says he knew nothing about the sexual goings on, but the former pupils say they complained to him but he just giggled.
A court case has just been filed naming several of the teachers including Gym. That should keep him occupied for a while. The judge might even insist he wear a jacket.

Well, I listened/watched all 7 hours of the Mueller testimony yesterday.
My takeaways.....
1. While yes he did seem pretty bumbling at times, my impression was he simply wanted to be exactly sure he was not being misquoted in any way what so ever. Just one swapped out word can change everything. To what I could make out, he only made one small error, which he later corrected at the start of round 2. Now to the people putting the boot in to him - can they honestly say they could get through 7 hours of questions about a 400+ page report and make only one small error? Mueller a bumbling fool? Hardly.
2. He is a smart, exacting and very fair man. He did not give either the right or the left any cannon fodder that was not due. He did not buy into either sides games - smart.
3. He buried once and for all Trumps "No collusion. No obstruction - total exoneration" bullshit. The man is guilty of multiple counts of obstruction and should be impeached - end of.
4. The right were completely ineffective in pulling apart Mueller's character and made rambling statements that were not questions at all.
5. The left in many cases made dicks of themselves by clumsily attempting to get Mueller to read excerpts from the report in order to get sound bites for later use. It was clear from their first attempt that was never going to work, but it was like they seemed to think the lemming approach of charging over the cliff was somehow going to work. I get that their whole premise was to educate those watching that Trump is guilty - but I feel they could of done it a lot better than they did. And they too were guilty of making rambling statements that were not questions and as a result missed many opportunities had they handled it better. For a start they should of quoted which paragraph/page they were referencing at the start of every question they asked in order to save a lot of time with Mueller not having to ask them - idiots. The left seemed completely incapable of changing their game plan on the fly. Hardly inspiring new members to their team.
6. Democracy is pretty much dead in the US. They have a lawless president with no one doing anything meaningful to pull him up on it, and it is getting worse and worse. Whether it is because the Democrats have no spine for it, or they are simply to disorganized to actually implement their oversight responsibilities - or it could be they are thinking they will just pick up Trumps dangerous precedents and use the "new norm" for their own purposes when they get in power.
7. The really important part of the report, - the fact the Russians and other countries are hard out interfering in their elections was largely ignored and I'm sure that must make Mueller himself very despondent about the whole thing. Democracy in the US is upon the operating table on life support - all the while the two teams are running around arguing over whether the curtains in the operating room should be red or blue - pathetic.

How can anyone be a Democrat at this point? It's gotten pretty pathetic.
Not like republicans are great or anything.... But how can anybody be a democrat? it's mind blowing to think about how awful the party is right now.
-The leader of the party is either an alcoholic geriatric or a group of women that have a collective IQ of 80 and are only elected based on the fact that their constituents would vote for a retarded donkey if it had a D on it
-Their current party platform for 2020 is socialism and open borders
-They spent years sucking off bob mueller and pursuing a russia narrative which has been proven to be total bull sh*t and a complete waste of time
-Still trying to impeach the current president for... hurting feelings?
-Their 2020 prospects include a self declared socialist, a fake native american, and a dude with a husband named chasten
-Their party bases people's worth on their skin color, gender, and overall victim status. the more victim points you can rack up, the more qualified you are

A comment on Twitter this morning. A guy who has had a Trump sign in his front yard since 2016 took it down yesterday. His neighbour wondered why and asked. The guy said his ten year old son had asked him how he could support a racist like Trump. He thought about that and took down the sign. "If you haven't got the respect of your kid, you've got nothing."

Trump is rater as the 42 worst president.
Beaten only by James Buchanan and Andrew Johnson
James Buchanan Historians fault him for his failure to address the issue of slavery and the secession of the Southern states and generally consider him to be one of the worst presidents in U.S. history.

The US has been doing this stuff since adam was a boy. And they aint going to stop any time soon either.

This reminded me of something sort of military.
These days many military, and similar type people, wear smart watches that record their exercise on Strava or similar, as do civilians. A while back there was a news item about a secret CIA base in Africa that was revealed by the residents getting exercise by running around the inside of the camp perimeter. In the middle of darkest Africa there was this bright spot of light revealing the many laps of their hitherto secret compound.
I'll just leave this Guardian item here 'cause the photo is relevant. The US base toward the top of the photo is major and was no secret. The previously unknown base, thought to be CIA, is the much smaller one toward the bottom left of the photograph.

https://sputniknews.com/us/201907301076401781-ive-singled-out-putin-as-an-adversary-mcconnell-blasts-allegations-of-kremlin-conspiracy/
I see that Mitch McConnell has been getting called all sorts of names, and one
that began with the "R" letter (no, not Republican. "Russian").
But I suppose he has been in US politics long enough to be able to weather
a little name calling.
Though the following extract from the above article did intrigue me:
"Last week, McConnell blocked two bills introduced by Senate Minority Leader
Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) that would
introduce changes intended to secure US elections from hacking or meddling.
One bill would require the use of paper voting ballots, while the other would
require candidates, their campaign staff and relatives to inform the FBI about
offers of assistance from foreign governments, according to The Hill."
1. Re-instate a paper ballot, produce an audit trail, and be able to support
a recount.
Just imagine not being reliant on those electronic voting machines that could
change a vote (from Republican to Democrat, or v.v.) or which could lose the
equivalent of whole ballot boxes.
And being able to do a re-count in the event of a disputed vote.
2. Putting the onus on candidates or their staff to report "foreign interference".
Just imagine if it wasn't only the Russians who were "interfering" in US elections.
And that politicians and elected officials could risk investigation and prosecution.
No. Far too radical.
Mitch, just as well that you knocked such nonsense on the head good and early.
They're lucky to have you. And I take back everything I've ever said about you.

its not the NYFD is a tinpot volunteer brigade committee that represent a borough of 40,000 people. Its akin to the Taupo district council saying they want a referendum.
Reminds me of the engineers/ pilots against 911 where most members were neither pilots or engineers.

Yeah I saw a photo essay about a place where the people live in near derelict trailers and the sewerage just flows out onto the ground behind the trailers.
Trump has fired off more angry tweets, this time aimed at Don Lemon who is the "dumbest man on television" and claiming that he, Trump, is the least racist person.
Lemon though has something in common with Cummings, Ocasio Cortez, Tlaib, Pressley and Omar, all of whom have recently been attacked by Trump. He's brown. Sure, it's nothing to do with race.

I agree, he is playing the distraction game. Starting feuds with people of colour, just below the line of undeniable racism, just enough below it that republicans can deny it. But if course it is designed to distract from all the other shit swirling around him.
In other news, if arsestinger thinks Trump is going to win the important agricultural States, he can think again. As mentioned his name is shit around these parts. I actually saw a bumper sticker with his name on it for the first in over a year, and it was a septic tank retrieval truck lol.

And yes, the trailer parks are as you describe them. Also, there is a lot of neighborhoods where whole blocks of houses have been abandoned back in the GFC, and they are just rotting away. And another GFC is looming as the financial idiots are up to the same tricks, but this time the USA Government will be starting with a multi trillion deficit - no bail out for the banks this time.
So many of Trumps businesses have gone bankrupt. Even his casino businesses and the only way you can go bankrupt with those is if you steal too much out the back door with them. This is who is running the largest economy in the World and he can do it without even having his tax records vetted. They say the people get the Government they deserve - but I'm not sure they deserve what is coming.

We all know, or should know, that Trump doesn't like reading. That's a large part of why he's so ignorant. It turns out now that his teleprompter is loaded with phonetic spellings to make it easier for him.
He was addressing a crowd in Virginia and his prompter contained mention of George Wythe, an important historical figure. One of the signatories to the Declaration of Independence no less. So, as they do, in the teleprompter the name Wythe was spelled 'With' to give Trump a steer as to how to pronounce it correctly. So Trump read the name - and then he decided to wing it. He spelled out the name W-i-t-h. "An incredible name... an incredible name".
There was some murmering in the audience because they all knew the correct spelling. It wasn't one of his rallies, they don't know anything much.
I can't find it on Youtube.
The curious can see it here though: https://twitter.com/KevinlyFather/status/1156237442904576001

That reminds me. Trump has reportedly phoned Putin and offered help with what are apparently major fires burning in Siberia.
Contrast that with his treatment of California: he abused them for not raking up the leaves in the forest, which is apparently where the phrase "forest management" lead to in his mind. When Californian politicians responded negatively, he threatened to cut off government money to California. If you were still in any doubt as to how stupid Trump is, that should be all you need to know.
California is a big net federal tax payer. It's the money from California and New York etc that keeps the southern broke arsed states afloat. If Trump stopped paying California, it would be reasonable for them to withhold their taxes, they'd be way ahead on the deal.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that's what he was talking about.
There is now open corruption by politicians in the USA, and there has been since Trump started appointing his cabinet. Moscow Mitch McConnell is married to a woman named Elaine Chow. Her father is a wealthy Chinese shipping magnate. She is Transport Secretary in Trumps cabinet. Despite being required to divest herself of her massive shareholding in the biggest US roading company, she retained her shares and would periodically make a speech about infrastructure. Everytime she did that the company share price went up.
A Russian oligarch Deripaska was sanctioned for interfering in the 2016 US elections. Now though he has been cleared to build a new aluminium plant in Kentucky, one of the broke arse southern states. Kentucky has an average life expectancy ranked 49th in the USA, equal with Libya in world rankings. Now there's something to be proud of. Moscow Mitch is one of the two Senators representing Kentucky. The other senator is Rand Paul which probably goes some way to explain why Kentucky is so backward.

Since July 2018, the Giffords group says it and the Campaign Legal Center have detailed millions in illegal campaign contributions that the NRA funneled to at least seven federal candidates, including $25 million to the 2016 campaign of future President Donald Trump.
To commit “campaign finance violations of dramatic scale,” according to the 21-page complaint, the gun lobby used “a complex network of shell corporations.”
The contributions to the Trump campaign alone exceed the congressional limit by 9,259 times, the complaint says.
Distinguishing the NRA’s activity from independent political spending, which the Supreme Court has found poses less risk of corruption than direct contributions, the Giffords group says the NRA’s donations were coordinated with the candidates, putting them in violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act’s spending limits.
Federal campaign finance law sets a $5,000 spending limit for multicandidate political action committees. That amount drops to $2,800 for PACs supporting an individual candidate.
Provided there is no coordination with the candidates themselves, those limits don’t apply, however, when a PAC donates to outside groups on a candidate’s behalf.
According to Wednesday’s complaint, the NRA skirted the law by having the same vendors handling the candidates’ ads place its own ads supporting them as well.
Since 2014, the lawsuit alleges, the NRA used this scheme to hide up to $35 million in advertising expenditures that were coordinated with the federal candidates.
NRA members will gather Thursday in Indianapolis for the group’s annual meeting, where President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are scheduled to speak Friday.
https://www.courthousenews.com/gun-violence-group-says-nra-made-illegal-donations-to-trump/
The lawsuit continues, “The illegal contributions to the Trump campaign alone are up to 9,259 times the limit set by Congress. Yet the Commission has taken no action on Plaintiff’s complaints.”
The president is not the only politician involved in the suit. Republicans, Thom Tillis (NC), Cory Gardner (CO), Tom Cotton (AR), Ron Johnson (R) and Josh Hawley (MO) and unsuccessful candidate, Matt Rosendale (MT) are also named.
The action argues:
“Taken together, these facts demonstrate an elaborate scheme for the NRA to unlawfully coordinate with the candidates it supports for federal office, including Donald J. Trump, Thom Tillis, Cory Gardner, Tom Cotton, Ron Johnson, Matt Rosendale, and Josh Hawley, while evading detection of its violations of federal law concerning the coordination of advertising communications through common vendors.”

The F.B.I. and special counsel Robert Mueller are investigating meetings between N.R.A. officials and powerful Russian operatives, trying to determine if those contacts had anything to do with the gun group spending $30 million to help elect Donald Trump—triple what it invested on behalf of Mitt Romney in 2012. The use of foreign money in American political campaigns is illegal. One encounter of particular interest to investigators is between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian banker at an N.R.A. dinner.

Donald Trump's leadership is viewed around the world about as favourably as that of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a new poll.
In its latest world leadership poll, only 31 percent approve of Mr Trump's leadership, compared to 30 percent who back Mr Putin - whose administration is regularly criticised for curtailing free speech, rigging elections and imprisoning political opponents.
China has also overtaken the US in the world's eyes, with 34 percent approval. Leading the pack amongst the world's powers is Germany, with 39 percent approval.
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/02/kiwis-really-don-t-like-donald-trump-poll/_jcr_content/par/image.dynimg.1200.q75.jpg/v1551388533639/gallup+leadership+poll+full+graph+2019.jpg
Except for a brief moment in 2011, the US had the highest approval ratings of any world power between 2009 and 2016, when Barack Obama was President. Germany led in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2017.
Russia has been on the upswing in recent years, rising from 22 percent in 2014 - when it invaded Ukraine - to 30 percent today.
Mr Trump's image in New Zealand is poor, but improving - he now has 19 percent approval, four points higher than a year ago. A whopping 69 percent disapprove. He's a bit more popular across the ditch, with 23 percent support in Australia, also up 4 percent.
Gallup interviewed about 134,000 people across the world come up with the latest results.

Europeans are more likely to trust Russia's Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping to do the right thing regarding world affairs than US President Donald Trump, according to a survey released on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a majority of respondents in most of the seven countries surveyed by the US-based Pew Research Centre said they trust Germany's Angela Merkel and France's Emmanuel Macron.
https://www.euronews.com/2019/02/12/french-germans-trust-putin-more-than-trump-survey-finds
Nine in ten French people have an unfavourable opinion of Donald Trump, according to a recent study. And that's even worse than their view of Putin.
The survey measured Europeans' opinions of world leaders and was carried out by Odoxa-Dentsu Consulting on behalf of France Info and Le Figaro.
While 86 percent of Europeans were found to have a negative opinion of Trump, some 90 percent of the French said the same thing.
This marked a nine-point increase from the same study that was carried out in January.
Some 87 percent found Trump to be more aggressive now than he was at the start of the year, while 81 percent said they found him to be dangerous and racist.

Global survey: Vladimir Putin more popular than Donald Trump
If the world population had to choose between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump as their country’s leader, the majority would favour Russia’s president Vladimir Putin over the US president. Also, the dominant position of the USA as the world’s global leader seems to be no longer unquestionable. This is the result of a recent survey conducted by WIN, the worldwide independent network of market research. In the survey 53769 people in 55 countries around the globe were asked for their opinions on Trump, Putin, and the current world order.
Except in the USA, most of the regions of the world prefer Putin to Trump. As the exclusive German WIN member, Produkt + Markt conducted the survey in Germany. While 71% of the participants in Germany would choose neither one of the two presidents as their head of state, 22% of the German respondents would still opt for Vladimir Putin, but only 7% would choose Donald Trump.
Similar answers were given to a question on the form of the world order. 76% of German respondents prefer neither a world leadership by the US nor a joint global leadership by the US and Russia; 12% believe that the US and Russia should exercise global leadership together, while only 8% believe that the US – as arguably the most powerful state in the world – should continue to lead globally.

Well Trump undid the Obama law that was supposed to stop people with mental health issues buying guns. That's working out well.

The Texas Lt Governor who considered that the problem with school shootings was that there were too many doors in schools, has now announced that the problem is that there is not enough prayer in schools. He also thinks more saluting the flag in schools will help. Seriously.
Other politicians have blamed video games. The fact that millions of kids in other countries watch the same games without shooting up the place apparently eludes them.
Ivanka Trump blamed white supremacists and the response from around the world was a massive, "Your father!"
Congress has passed a firearms law of some sort but it's held up in the Senate because Moscow Mitch McConnell won't let it proceed to a vote. Anyhoo I think the politicians have all gone home for the summer holidays now. So it's "thoughts and prayers" again.

Funny for three reasons.
Firstly, you clearly couldn't refute my points, nothing new there...........
Two, hassling my English, considering you lacked the comprehension skills to figure out it was a world wide poll.
Thirdly, hassling anyone's English, when you have, the vocabulary of a baby otter.
Oh well if you have no evidence to support you, i guess that's all you have.

Some simple facts
Changes in US mass shooting deaths associated with the 1994-2004 federal assault weapons ban: Analysis of open-source data
BACKGROUND:
A federal assault weapons ban has been proposed as a way to reduce mass shootings in the United States. The Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 made the manufacture and civilian use of a defined set of automatic and semiautomatic weapons and large capacity magazines illegal. The ban expired in 2004. The period from 1994 to 2004 serves as a single-arm pre-post observational study to assess the effectiveness of this policy intervention.
RESULTS:
Assault rifles accounted for 430 or 85.8% of the total 501 mass-shooting fatalities reported (95% confidence interval, 82.8-88.9) in 44 mass-shooting incidents. Mass shootings in the United States accounted for an increasing proportion of all firearm-related homicides
Mass-shooting fatalities were 70% less likely to occur during the federal ban period (relative rate, 0.30; 95% confidence interval, 0.22-0.39).
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30188421
Sept. 18, 2015: In a campaign position paper published on his website Trump stated that "Gun and magazine bans are a total failure. That’s been proven every time it’s been tried,"
Feb. 28, 2017: Trump signed a bill into law rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illness to purchase guns. That Obama-era measure had included people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database.
Feb. 21, 2018: During a listening session with teachers and students following the deadly Parkland, Fla. high school mass shooting now-president Trump said, “We’re going to be very strong on background checks. We’re going to be doing very strong background checks.”
Feb. 26, 2019: Nearly a year later, and two days before the House passed sweeping gun legislation that would require universal background checks for most gun purchases or transfers, Trump threatened a presidential veto on the legislation if it passed Congress.

The range of causes of the mass shootings being trotted out by US politicians is amazing. These people may be corrupt and some may be inbred imbeciles, but you can't say they aren't creative. Abortions have been named as a cause of the shootings, as have solo mums. Trans sexuals and drag queens too are responsible. It seems though that the Republican Party has circled the wagons around video games this time. Trump has already suggested some sort of a law change to cover video games. Anything but a law change covering assault weapons.
Recently I remarked on Trump's inability to read. Overnight he managed to read "Texas and Ohio" in great big letters on his prompter as "Toledo".
People are criticising Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke for dropping an F bomb during a TV interview. O'Rourke is likely upset, he's from El Paso. Twenty people killed and counting, but hey somebody said a rude word.

She was apparently very briefly a Judge a long time ago. She is a current crackpot though. It has been suggested, possibly unkindly, that she consumes a box of wine before going on air. That would certainly account for her demeanour sometimes.

Also i have not reported oldrider, every time he spreads racial hate messages, either through the posting of mien Kamph, the protocol of Zion hs endlingless love letters to Hitler or any other nazi supported literature, he posts on practically a daily basis.
Anyone who obsessively posts racial propaganda on a daily basis, and considers it a normal event is unhinged, the fact, you share his views and want to support him, is not a surprise, as you are an egg.
Maybe you should aquatint yourself with the site rules
Thread topics, posts and attachments must not contain:
graphic descriptions of sexual acts, violence, injury, suffering, racism, death, or obscenities
soliciting for any activity of racist nature
or the NZ law
Section 61 of the Human Rights Act provides that it shall be unlawful for anyone to publish or distribute threatening, abusive or insulting words likely to excite hostility or bring into contempt any group of persons who may be coming to or in New Zealand on the ground of the colour, race or ethnic origins of that group of persons.
Section 131 of the Human Rights Act deals with more extreme acts of offensive speech. It is a criminal offence to publish or use threatening, abusive or insulting words. .
[An example of this would be the desecration of Jewish graves, as has happened several times in recent New Zealand history. The desecration itself was illegal, the targeting of Jewish people turns the crime into an antisemitic hate crime.

Your responses indicate You very clearly do care what people say about trump.
Its hilarious how Trump is often brought up in conversations about ignorance and small minded attitudes.
Gallup interviewed about 134,000 people across the world come up with the latest results.
Mr Trump's worst approval ratings came from a number of Muslim majority nations including the Palestinian Territories, Iran, Yemen, Pakistan and Turkey. Other countries where he's not viewed favourably include Russia, Sweden, Chile, Canada, and most of all Norway, where he has an 87 percent disapproval rating.
Kosovo and Albania are the only European countries that have a positive view of Mr Trump, and the Dominican Republic the only American nation. Germany is actually the most popular world power in the Americas, with 35 percent approval to the United States' 31.
