Ummmm bike is still in bits. :bash: You sure it is this weekend….:gob: Ow shit better get it back together.

Just kidding. Mind you it is still in bits :shit: but no big deal. Gave it a test ride on the private track today and it is looking good to go. :Punk: Might be our first wet meeting. I noted the rain clouds around Fielding on the map tonight. Lucky we have new rubber.

May have to give the new rubber a proper scrub on said private track before sat, can't scrub a new tyre sufficiently enough given two wet laps before qualifying.

Good Luck dude!!!!! Not that luck is what you need, it's competition!

Cheers :D I'm looking forward to it, there's a bit of competition out there, just depends on whether he's fixed his broken bike yet...

I tried... i really did!:innocent:

i Had the vice and everything there set up as it (sort of) should be, i'd finished the job and the drill was stopped, so i undid the vice to take the job out and kinda got distracted/forgot to take the weight of the end of the tube hanging out the end of the vice, so the hand i had on the workpiece got itself levered upwards as the heavy end swung down and pinned it into the stationary Drill bit

Next time i'll support the end protruding from the vice me thinks, simple mistake made because we were in a hurry to get the job out on time<_<

**I've just taped my hand up with the new dressings on and she's all go, can manage a glove on it ok and should have little discomfort while riding (felt good pushing bike into the van earlier)

So race day has come around again. Bloody alarm clocks. Well not true today. I hit the sack at 11.00 and was awake at 4am. Up to get the breakie cooking and wake the boys. Hit the road at 5.30 sharp in the rain. Wasn’t cold this month so that helped. Zoomed, as best you can zoom in the old Mitsi van, passed Warricks to see no sign of life. Wrong…. He was waiting at the Westshore turn off. Toots and waves and we headed in to the fog and light rain as we went south.

Arrived at Manfield and setup our pagodas’ on our concrete pad. Unlike last month it was wet. Bike out and gear set up for the day I realised the boys didn’t pack the chairs or the tables. Greeeeee. We thought the day might clear but no the rain came in and the race day was declared WET. No wet tires in our box of spares. Had a chat to the owner of Phil Turnbulls, he sponsors Zane’s bike, our biggest competition, and he told me they were running wets. Might have been mind games but we don’t have wets so that’s that. Out on the track for scrubbing in. Yep in the wet. Pat came in and told us we had some big problems with the way the bike was running. We pulled the spark plug and noted it was very wet and oily. Not good at all. Pat took the bike out for qualifying and qualified 4th. It was really wet and he rode as well as he could but the bike was the problem.

During the month we changed the type of oil we used in the bike due to realizing the oil we had run was not for bikes with oil injection. The new oil was just poring in to the cylinder and over oiling. We dropped the fuel out of the bike and ran a new mix. A lot less oil than we have ever run before. We leaned the bike up and waited till 2.30ish for our first race. 12 laps. Patrick made a good start but was running second to Zane when a rider went down and the race was red flagged. Back to the dummy grid.

Off to reform the start grid for the second time in the first race. Lights out and off. A bad start by Patrick saw him drop to fourth. He moved his way back up to second but just could not get grip without the wet tires. Zane rode a good race and took the win by 1.1second. Patrick put in the fastest lap of that race but just couldn’t get passed Zane. Well done both of you.

We decided to leave the bike setup as it was. Not game to lean it up any more we sat back and took in some R/R. The track was drying as the avo went on and we had built up some hope the tires we had could do the business. But by race time 4.44pm the rain had come back in. The track was wet and our hopes faded. Out on to the track and round for the start. The 125s were off and the lights went out for the 150 street stocks. A bad start for Patrick again. We have reset the clutch and it looks like practice is needed. He dropped back to 4th but had recovered to 2nd by the end of the first corner. Zane was setting a great pace in the wet. They continued to circulate for the rest of that lap. Then Patrick took the challenge and road hard under brakes and passed Zane on the inside at turn one. We all looked on with a stunned look of disbelief. Patrick just opened the throttle and rode corners 2-3-and four at amazing speed. A murmur went around the H/B group at pit wall and then the inevitable happened. Down went 22 at Higgins. Zane had to take action to stopp running Patrick over who was sliding down the track with the bike beside him. It was messy and not pretty. Five other people passed him and things looked bad. Patrick jumped to his feet picked up the bike and push started the old girl. She fired up and he jumped on the seat as it went passed. Head down and going hard he took back one of the places before he passed us at pit wall. Thumbs up and he was on a charge. Patrick managed to pass two more of the bikes and was now in third. He upped the speed again and disappeared around Higgins for the last time. Zane was way out of reach and we had resigned to the third place. To our amazement Patrick lifted the game again and hunted down Ryan Firm bike number 49f. Beating him over the line by 0.521 of a second. Unbelievable. Crash to second, all in 6 laps. Zane took the race by 15 seconds. Well done that man.

So it is wets for us if we can fit them in to the budget and the hope for a fine day next month. Plenty of testing and practice for our team in the next month and repairs to the bike.

Thanks to Gurlracer, Hxc, MSTRS and George for their support today. Great to have you all at the track. Lots of food left over. You just gotta eat more you lot.

To Wasp27 and Gary. What can I say. You guys have pulled the bike out of the pooo again and got it running as well as it can run. Gotta love these two strokes. Or not. Thanks you two and of course to Patrick for a spectacular day at the track. May be time we got the gear you need to race. And to Five Star Suzuki for your ongoing support and we also appreciated the pagoda today. Was nice to be dry.

I am asleep at the K/B. Just turn out the lights and I will see you in the morning

Big thanks to everybody out there today, the Weather and track conditions were less than ideal but we all worked together and managed to pull off a good Result. Cheers Guys :apint:

Looking forward to the next round, Hopefully the next ones a bit drier, but hey it's manfeild and ya get what your given there.

Suprisingly i didnt do any damage to the stitches/sliced hand which is great, got a slight rubbing rash on my right elbow from hitting the ground (smaller than a ten cent piece) and my bum might have a bruise in the morning. But other than that i didn't do myself any damage.

Helmet came out ok, it didn't hit the ground, scuffing down the fronts of both lower legs on the leathers with one small hole, suprising as i did alot of sliding on my knees  and had expected more damage, a scuff to the bum of the leathers and i'd have to say that im much more impressed with the stitching quality and ability of the seams to stay together. Much better than the Spool gear i last came off in and tore the butt completely open on. Few scuffs up the jacket and over one shoulder.

All in all a good day :)

See you all at Round 4 :ride:

Two Piece AGVSPORT leathers (my usual Blue/black/silver ones with my name on the back), can't race in Cordura or that sort of gear, its just not allowed.

Was wearing my PREXPORT boots as well, bloody awesome, given the grazing they've got i'm surprised i don't have sore ankles

Finally got some battle scars on the gears:devil2:

Well done Paddy and the the three stoogies that bike has a lot of support, its a shame you went so hard at the start but I suppose your only a young fella and we cant hold you back, we might have to get you some wet tyres and fit em on your spare wheels just in case eh! maybe some new sprockets for that nice new chain eh! Well done Mate you stay up right and you will be picking up the trophy.
I had a fantasic ride down apart from one little hickup with the Plod but I like riding in the rain its exciting, had a better ride back thanks to Warrick for shaparoning me back and getting me home safe, protecting me from the men in Blue, Thanks for the food Yum Yum your a good set of Blokes:first:

Thanks for the write up Steve. good to get home and catch up with the goss. Well done Patrick, Great effort.

What i want to know.
Is it worth it having wets?
Or is it better to be conservitive on a track that is soaked?
How much for wets?
How long would it take to get wets delivered?

speights_bud

I think that having wets will definatly be a good idea, after all they are always re-salable if we don't use them. after following Zane who was running wets and seeing just how straight and in line his bike was keeping in comparison to me struggling to get any grip on my rear i'm thinking that wets are the go, maybe they won't be the key to winning, but if it makes riding in the wet safer and give better odds of staying upright and finishing instead of a DNF then i'd rather run on them.

Current top 3 Riders points are:

Patrick 139
Zane 114
Malcome 103
Ben 76

Points awarded:
1st 25
2nd 22
3rd 20
4th 18

So ideally i'd like to stay upright and keep finishing instead of DNF-ing

Just how i see things :)

Cold out there on the bike today!

Rode the Duc home at lunchtime, nearly got blown off just past Chook & Filly, wicked wind.
Brought the Speed Triple back to work.
Was wearing 2 polyprop thermals under my jeans with my Revit cordua pants with thermals in them.
2 polyprop tops, t shirt, workshirt, leather jacket with thermal in.
Very chilly, especially the chest area when on the Speedy.

Still, was good to go for a ride as I think this weekend is going to be cold and nasty.

Had a good look over it today. Hard to tell of course for sure, but all I could see was dent in tank, right where balls sit, bent forks, smashed radiator where forks etc went back, broken top fairing, scrape on engine case and RH muffler.
Looked like he hit a car (car was there too) stopped and fell on RH side so no sliding.
If done the naked way, would only need a headlight kit, and front end, plus the odd bit here and there.

If this is the twin, cruiser-style then be careful. These bikes have some sort of built-in Honda weakness (I can't remember for sure what it is, but think it is to do with the ignition system). Do some homework before you make any decisions.
If it's the inline 4, have a look here... http://www.myhonda650.com ... at 44hp it's very under-powered for the cc

I think I can post here again. Been so long since I put the bike in gear and rode it just cos I can. Been a few rides for work and the fund raiser and funeral but other than that it has sat in the shed and tormented me. So today I patted the old Mooo on the arse and sat her on the back and we blasted out the gate and ended up at the summit on the Taupo road. Whooo whoooo so nice to be free and have the wind under our wings. I did see a group of 3 bikes as we went North in the first passing lane, was it you MSTRS? Roll on summer. It was strange to ride on dry clean roads.

Meet a nice couple at the shop. He lived on the Isle Of Man for a while and had bikes in the past. But his partner was intent on showing us her ink. Nice Tatts indeed. They would never had spoken to us if it wasn’t for the bike. Gotta love bikes. So I am ready for the new working week. Bring it on.

Hmmmm…. I see a plan coming on here. We could all ride to Hastings for our warrants on the same day and sit around in Doolys office and drink tea and coffee and eat cream buns and donuts while he works on our bikes. Now that’s a plan. We could make it our mid winter/Xmas outing.

VTNZ charged me $32.00 on the 26th July 2008 for a warrant on the race bike. That’s inclusive of GST.

I get a stamp on the card that gives me $5.00 off my third warrant and $10 off my 6th visit. So that an average of $29.50 over a long period of time. If I can get over to you for a warrant mate you get the work. Simple and good on you for doing the paper work. I have just completed my license to handle Cyanide. What a drama considering I had one before that expired cos the law was changed.

Bit of resealing just before Purtorino, therefore a bit of loose stuff. Really nice day in Wairoa. Probably better than here.
Bike going well and really are impressed just how well it handles.:niceone:

Might try and get out for a ride Sunday. Sunday seems to work for me. I work every day with the stock from now till Dec and with family and church and stuff I find Saturday is gone. So I might try and ride Sunday lunch time. Had a really neat ride last week so will post here tomorrow and see what happens. Maybe the goat track for lunch or a cuppa. Sounds like it is in ok condition from Robs report. Lets see what the day brings.

Time for smoko. The work is done for the morning so time to work on da race bike. See you all tonight. Cheers

Hi Dave.
Nice to see you back on here mate. Been a long time. Our group is not riding to often at the moment. Seems to be busy for every one. Might head down to Waipawa for a short ride tomorrow. Patrick is riding Mikes bucket for him as Mike has a damaged hand. Not sure yet but watch this space. You still got the TL? Must have a few K’s on it now.

Hey guys!!

Tonight at Zac's leaving dinner my mum managed to loose my Dad's phone which his company so kindly gave us. It had all his numbers, photos and messages on it and we're really gutted that it's been lost. We've rung Telecom and had it blocked. We think it was either swiped off the table we were sitting at, picked up by the young kids at the pool table, or fell out of mum's pocket on the way from the table to the door. :(

If anyone saw/heard anything please contact us!! You may have even picked it up by mistake! If you had or knew the young kids around could you check with them too please!

Whooo hoooo Went for a blast up the goat track today with W on the SV in da lead. He did give me a turn in da front twice but soon took it back. Was a great little ride and that road is sweet. We had a bit of a play that lead to a few car drivers wondering what the f*ck was that as we swept past them. People really need to look in da mirrors a bit more. A truck driver got to hear the full noise of both bikes as we passed him up the elbow under full power. He was hanging out the window enjoying the day and the two very different bikes that blasted past. A 9 outa 10 ride.

A feed at 286. Not big enough people. You goin to keep us coming back in the summer you need to put more food on dem plates. Charge $2 more and give us a feed. Was a nice night out at your place Gurlracer and Mrs Zukin. Thanks for that.

Funny, was thinking of a blast up the Wairoa rd today.
Took the Speedy out back way thru Havelock, Tuki rd, and out to the folks at TeAwanga.
Bacon had his eye on me on the expressway heading home, was doing a heinous act and quite a bit over the limit, but trusty new detector caught him first allowing for a fistfull of front brake.:Police:
Must of seen my headlights drop rapid under braking and gave me the glare.

Be careful where you park.

Got this from a Hastings city council newsletter.
As of the 26th of June 08 parking infringement in a Disabilities park will cost you, not $40.00 but $150.00 Blood good in my opinion but still something you need to note.

Also parking on the foot path or the wrong side of the road will get you a $40.00 fine. Suppose this goes for bikes as well. I have been known to park on the foot path often when in town. Specially when away from home.

Thanks to everyone who helped out today, the day was certainly an eventful one to say the least :bash: bike was running pretty average but the conditions were very wet, qualified 1st (6 second gap) and then a little bit downhill from there, got an ok start, but Zane just took off keeping up even with the 250 inline fours, caught them and passed the 250's in the first lap, then overtook zane. Led the race for 3 laps and the bike wasnt running so well, couldnt use throttle mid corner, and zane overtook on the final turn just powering ahead to win by 0.3 Seconds.

Then the team encountered a protest by another Rider because myself and Zane were running Wet race tires on the Rear. Had an interesting meeting with the MNZ steward in which resulted in us keeping our points but being told to change our wet tires to the standard DOT road tires.

Quite Controversial, there's the MNZ rule book, and the vic club says they follow those rules, but it would appear have changed some of them to suit themselves.
About time someone sorted this out once and for all, the south island Streetstock riders i believe are running slicks also, which we are not, buggered if i know how we are all supposed to compete in the same class with the same rules across the country if clubs are going to change rules on the day.

This is not a full noise "knackers to the wall" ride it is for all levels of riders, so don't be shy front up and you will be looked after, all good. As Patrick said , it was an interesting day. We arrived at 8ish to find the concrete slab, we usually set up on, had a Yamaha Tent on it. Lucky they were only using half the slab so we setup next to them. Turned out to be Zane and his Dad. Our number one competitor. So we parked the van next to the Yamaha pagoda and setup the big Suzuki pagoda we have been given the use of from Five star. Nice one that one. Out with the bike and all the stuff it takes to make up our pit. The weather was overcast and had been raining but things looked to be clearing. Bike out and set up for scrub in and qualifying.

Out on the track for qualifying and SP gave us the thumbs up as he passed pit wall. Two laps of the full track and in he came. Out again with in ten minutes for qualifying. The first lap looked average. The second looked better but a moment, at the end of the pit straight, gave us a shiver. The front slid out and was saved as SP put his foot down and saved a crash. A few more laps and he was in to prepare for racing. Qualifying 1st by 6 sec. The track was wet but not too wet at this stage.

However the rain started to come in and the day was declared wet. So we changed to wet on the rear. The new tyre felt slippery so Warrick helped us scrub it in at the pits. We fueled the bike and waited. The rain passed but the track was wet and so was everything around us. Yuck. The final call went out for the bikes and off SP went. Round to the grid they came. The weather was starting to close in with light rain. Off they went. Zane just has so much power off the start. SP chased hard and had him in reach by the first corner. He followed Zane around the track for two laps. Close and pushing hard on the very wet track. The rain was getting heavy and without the wet rear it would have been a mission to stay on the track. As many bikes had found out in qualifying and this race. Sp took the lead in the third lap and pinned his ears back and went for it. Zane followed close behind and kept SP in reach. It was a great battle. They disappeared in to the rain and mist over the back of the track with Sp leading. I noted Zane had dropped off a bit and I was nervous about what might happen. As they came around the final corner Zane opened the gas tap and rode around SP and was neck and neck as they pulled a straight line to the finish. Zane took the race by 0.30 of a second.

The rain just got heavier and heavier as the morning went on and all racing was put on hold as part of the track disappeared under water. In the mean time we got word that SP and Zane had been disqualified for running wets. I left SP and Zane sort it out with the track steward as he had done all the home work on what we could and could not do. It turns out that Motorcycle New Zealand have got some serious problems with their administration and interpreting of the law and how certain clubs interpret and administer these laws. We are going to get to keep our points. SP had an email stating we could use wets. Great isn’t it. We go and buy them on the advise of MZN so we can race and then find out the person that gave us this advise had no authority to do so :2guns: and now we can’t use the tyres. I just don’t get it. Maybe she would like to buy them off me? But that’s how it is.

So the racing was cancelled due to the weather and we came home with a van full of wet stuff. A great race from SP. Well done that man. Disappointed with the rule problems. The bike was not running too well. I am beginning to hate two strokes.

Looking forward to the next race day. Again many thanks to Wasp27 and Gary for your help and support and da Mooo for all da food. Big thanks to five star for the big pagoda. It was so good this month. Was nice to be dry under it. With the two vans and the pagoda we had a dryish place to hide. Cheers Five Star.

Well done Patrick for a great race under trying conditions. :Punk: Roll on next month.

When is the next weekend ride?? :D I'm keen to go!

Especially since one of the residents down the road threw something at my car last night coz I was going "too fast" - didn't exceed 60kmph at maximum, it's just that I took the corner faster than they can (at 40km) and my car sounds loud... he ended up calling Mum and I "s!uts" and his wife called Mum "A leg of mutton" and said "Your father deserved what he got!" :angry2:

Along with many other nasty things... so I'd love to see what they'd do if 10 bikes parked up our road, they wouldn't wanna yell abuse like that when we're wearing helmets :)

Thats disgusting!!!!! People may get annoyed with "boy racer" type cars but saying that about a person that has passed is really unforgivable.

Come on you lot....Teach these idiots a lesson!!!!
