Unfortunately I'm away at Rally New Zealand this weekend (YAY about time!) so maybe next weekend?? Or am I in Vanuatu then? I can't remember!

Yeah you may have copped some flack due to someone elses hooning around your street and that's one thing but the comment about your father is nothing less than disgusting and lower than low.
:angry2: Fark there are some pathetic people out there.

When is the next weekend ride?? :D I'm keen to go!
Especially since one of the residents down the road threw something at my car last night coz I was going "too fast" - didn't exceed 60kmph at maximum, it's just that I took the corner faster than they can (at 40km) and my car sounds loud... he ended up calling Mum and I "s!uts" and his wife called Mum "A leg of mutton" and said "Your father deserved what he got!" :angry2:
Along with many other nasty things... so I'd love to see what they'd do if 10 bikes parked up our road, they wouldn't wanna yell abuse like that when we're wearing helmets :)
I live down the same street as you guys, was it the family with alot of cars over the road?

I have refrained from replying to this cos I am a bit angry. I still don’t know what to say. Sorry this has happened but I don’t think giving them the bash will help cos we aren’t there to support you during the rest of the time. However if you think a visit from us would help just send me a PM.
Take care you two and have a blast out with the big boys and their toys. You could score a great weekend. Probably wet under foot but the sky might be sunny. Have a blast.
No ride for me this weekend as SP has my bike for the weekend. Cheers all

Sure it wasn't just Itchy kicking Moo out of the bed?
.
Hahahahaha No poor little Busiea was the one that got the boot. We both woke up at the same time and as we jumped outa bed, poor little Busiea flew through the air and landed some distance from da bed. Then nearly got trampled in the rush for the door. Then he got booted outside only to get the better of me as he was standing at the bedroom door pleading his case later on. So we let him in and returned to the norm. That is, no room in the bed for us. <_< However some time later he proceeded to make “ I want to be sick “ :2guns: sounds, so out he went where he chucked up bits of rat  on the lawn. So all in all not a good night for man or beast.

That was a good write up Steve thanks for that, I would have liked to have been there but I had some bad news on Thursday Doc tells me it will be three months before I'm in the saddle because of the water works.
Good to see Yamaha and Susuki are keeping together. I thought if a race is declared wet you can ride wets seems a bit ridiculas to me.

No 'reward' necessary or wanted. Consider it practice for the ones to follow.
I suspect that if BigG sees you approaching with a stilson and plunger, he might discover the secret to breaking WR 100m sprints:laugh:

You might have to George. I work every weekend for the next 2 months. Some Sundays I can ride from 11 to 3 but other than that I am stuck here. Never mind bring on the summer.

Brookfield rd is on 1.3km long. 1.9km long if they used Jessep rd as well so it would be more drags than top end end flying sprints.

sweet as, saw a blue and white gixxer, didnt get much of a look though.
Went out to the kart track today and played pit crew for Aero165 today. Not sure what we didnt fix/change on the pocket bikes today :P
Some arsehole during the night poured water into the tank of his bike, and beer into one of his others, neither bike would start as the plugs were saturated when i took them out, then draining the tank i found shitloads of water in the bottom before fuel came out, then the carb bowl was also full of water (being lowest point). :bash:
Thought maybe something stupid happened if it rained overnight, (bike were left outside) but then found the second bike with beer in the bottom of the tank when that wouldn't start and in the carb bowl also.
Meant the guys missed out on practice and nearly missed the first race :angry2::angry2::angry2::angry2::angry2:
What a prick whoever that guy was.

Hi every body just got of Hospital had another 5 day stint things just aint going good.
Some dude is going to try and crack the 340 mark at Carterton to-day I think the same sprint as Rob did last year. This other drag in Napier you can get a day licience for $20 and an entry fee of $25 I think, its a standing 1/4 and not a running 1/4 so I suppose if you want to stuff your new bike up then go Rob, running 1/4 is better lets you get up their. Apparently they were having problems with the Pneumatic Quick shift on it,
Also told that because the road, unlike the proper Drag strip, is cambered and the wide flat rear tire it didn't want to track a straight line.

Being heavily involved with drags when Thunderpark was around I can say that successfully getting a fast bike down the track and getting the optimum out of it is an artform.
Its harder than it looks, especially getting a good launch and your time Rob looks impressive given that it was the road.

weekend was interesting ut overall a positive one :)
Working on the write up.... only got home at 2 O'clock this arvo, been in welly-town for a couple of days.
Qualified Third (beaten By a 250 and a south island Rider). But didnt complete full qualifying time available, trying to preserve tires etc.
First Race DNF, Fuelling issues.
Second Race 1st Place, Quite a long race so just Pressured, pushed and poked until the other guys crashed out :Playnice:
Third Race 3rd Place, No point crashing trying to beat the South Island riders who aren't competing for overall championship points. So just played the following Game :)
More to come :)

Being heavily involved with drags when Thunderpark was around I can say that successfully getting a fast bike down the track and getting the optimum out of it is an artform.
Its harder than it looks, especially getting a good launch and your time Rob looks impressive given that it was the road.
Yep its hard enough in a Car (old thunderparker here too ) and to get a bike into the 10's is a very good effort indeed!

Whooo whooo look at me…. I am posting on K/B. That’s a good thing. It means I am not poking around the race bike nor am I at work. I should be at work and will be soon but you are right Chicky we are proud of our litter but then all parents are aye…..
This race bike has been a great way to do family time and I recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it. It is as cheap a motor sport as you can get and it is something all the family can do. If it wasn’t for W we would have had bike issues a long time ago but that’s how you learn. W is a good teacher and he has cut years off our learning time. We only ever expected to run in the pack this year and learn but with the support of so many people, Warrick, Gary FiveStar etc we are lucky to be able to let Patrick use his talents to do more than that. It gets under the skin and it is not often you think about anything else. It is always the bike that you catch yourself day dreaming about when you should be focused on work. Not to mention the hours of bike work that gets done in work time. With the win last weekend it has given us all a boost for the week. It is not so much the feeling of loss when you don’t win as the frustration of “why isn’t the bike going well?
Ahhh see what I mean. So many here have been there and done that and had the same experience as we have but it is worth the time and effort to have experienced what it can be like. You don’t need a super bike to have a great day out. Sure that would be great for the rider but to compete in the race at any level is great.
So Chicky how is it in the big wet windy city? Oh that’s right you are in Auckland not Wellington hahahahaha
Time for work. Can’t ride with the group today got another little thing I want to achieve today. So good to be alive. Take care you lot  And thanks for all the support.

Don’t push it on the rehab cos it will bit you and you will be back to the start. Just a nice balance. It is not getting on the quad that is the problem it is when it jerks sideways and your reaction is to balance yourself that the damage might get done.

Yes Rob. I have noted that as well. Lots of pig pens in civilian cloths. The laser is a bugger cos the detectors will tell you, you are busted and are hard to beat. Might have to do some quick U turns.
Wasp was commenting on getting a lot of laser strikes in the last week. I wonder if they are playing with it around his part of the road. Hmmm might have to be careful for a while till we get to see where and what they are using it for and what vehicles it is associated with. Might have to get a power commander after all. Da 750 might be a bit slow.

The missus got the detector yelling out 'laser alert', last week and it was a pig with a laser gun standing behind wall in Fernhill. She picked it up ages away.
But I have noticed, and another guy told me too, that hi tech agri machinery like the big buck tractors in fields give off a laser alert.
Was blasting down the back road to the Patangata a few months back, doing a couple a hundy or so and got the 'laser alert' scream in my ear!
Hit the brakes, nothing anywhere........weird.
Came back the normal way towards Havelock on Middle road and got several laser alerts in my ear. Noticed quite a few big tractors working in the fields in the area where the signals went off.
Mentioned it to a mate who said he has had the same thing around agri machinery, dunno why.
Also another mate who's a cop said the same thing with his detector, and he also said there is only 1 laser in the Bay, well there was when he told me, maybe they're trying more, as he said they are getting more Highway Patrol very soon in the Bay.
But, best not to assume everytime you hear the laser alert that its cocky on his Fergy huh?:Police::laugh:

Team Kiwi is running on empty and it is hard to imagine they can make it for much longer. I am not sure that they should have continued but good luck to them. I see they have the car out on the track again but being towed home, again, was not a good look. I hear they have it sorted and will start. Good luck TK but it might be close to the end of the line.
I have always admired da Rat. Not a good name for him as he would have to be the "Mr Nice guy" of this sport. Maybe that’s why he struggles to make it to the top. No such problems for Greg. What an abrasive person but at the end of the day he is a great driver and driving a good car with a good team.

Off I go, no helmet, no safety gear, gumboots, oh god I am such a bad boy with no gear, spank, spank!
End of the road and back a few times, about 6km or so, saw 160, wicked.
Back up the hill, had to make sure I stopped right by the wood.

F1 light. If it references the fuel injectors on the dash run 3 loads of injector cleaner through it and see what happens. Mine did the same and it took three tanks of fuel to fix it but it did fix it. It will make it worse at the start but then it should come right. See you at the track John. Cheers

I find that bizarre.
And it only adds to what people have been telling me about bike shops here.
Looks like I will be getting work from some of our car customers with bikes as they've had a gutsfull of the shoddy service around the place.
It takes no time or fuckall to check something like that and can be fitted in anywhere if you are organised.
We make sure we fit any of our customers in somehow if urgent.
Its just basic corteous service and a habit we've gotten into.
If the problem cant be fixed at the time, something can always be sorted somehow.
Oh, and on the plus side, managed to get on the Ducati this arvo, with the trusty block of wood.
Might do a qiuet tiki tommorrow arvo.......

Had this with the TL , was related to the engine cutting issue , Suzuki electrics of the era are a bit rubbish and can cause problems , just check wiring plugs , clean terminals and use some electrical contact grease. Should sort it out.

Tis 4.20 and the alarm clock has not gone off yet. Today’s the day. Final shot to secure the VIC Club 150 Street stock winter series. Outa bed and get the bacon cooking. Patrick is not with us this morning as he has a ride to the track with Lani. We have 80% of the van packed as we were out last night. Bacon cooking and stuff packed in the van and the chillybin and we are outa here. 5.40. We are late. Best txt Patrick to check he is on the road. Sure is. Dannevirke and the clouds are dark and wet looking. Another wet day at Manfield. Da rain sets in as we hit the Gorge. As we come out the other side things look a bit brighter and Patrick Txted to say he has arranged for us to share a shed. Unfortunately we do not have the Pagoda from Five Star. We are going to miss that this month. It really makes the pit area like home and keeps us dry. We arrive at the track to find the shed is small and dark and quite full. Thanks to the people that offered it to us but we will opt for the grass area. As the wind is strong we struggle to put up our Pagoda but within an hour we take it down. The wind has bent and broken it. The sky’s cloudy but it is sorta sunny and dry. Let’s wing it on the grassy shingle area and make the most of the day. Bike out and pit area set.
Check the bike over and make sure tyre pressures and fuel etc are all set. Most of the work was done last week and a final touch up on front brakes and shock finished yesterday. I said no 11th hour stuff to be done on the race bike but with parts hard to find and postage taking time we only finished the bike on Thursday. Scary stuff.
Time to qualify. Bike starts and runs while Patrick gets the gear on. That’s usually a good start to the day. Off he goes and starts his warm up laps. The bike looks and sounds great. He circulates and looks like he is in the groove. Zane is still running in his bike from last minute rebuilds so is taking it carefully. The time sheet showed we had pole position. However we know that means little in this sport and prepare the bike for the first race. I note Zane’s bike got a few good laps in after a shaky start and am aware that this bike is going to be strong.
We bring the bike in and do our usual checks of tyre pressure and fuel. I note the front tyre has lost 7 psi and the rear has gained a little more than we were happy with. More pressure in the rear and a lot of poking at the front and discussion. The decision is made to put the spare rim and tyre on the bike for the race. We set the pressure for the front and the bike is ready. We put 30psi in the front tyre that has been taken off the bike and had a cuppa tea and lots of bantering in the pits to ease the stress. Half an hour later a reading of 20psi shows the tyre has a leak. Thank goodness Warrick has taught us procedure or we would have DNF on the first race with a flat tyre. Relief all round but nervousness about what is going to happen. The call goes out and Patrick is off to the grid. We are all happy with the bike and the race lights go out. Again Patrick is eaten up at the start by 3 bikes but with reconditioned forks and fresh brakes he out brakes most other bikes and runs in second place till he can pass Zane. They go head to head with Patrick taking the lead outa the corners and Zane riding past him on the straights. It became frustrating to see the power Zane’s bike is putting out and watching him take the lead time and time again in the straight parts of the track. They rode a great race and fought to the end. As the 125 GP bike had 10 laps to do their thing they lapped the 150s. Checkered flag came out and Patrick came in second. The bike had done another tortuous race but survived. In to the pits and the usual checks and measurements are taken. Again the rear tyre is too hot and has gone off on lap 5. More pressure please is the call and up she goes. Fuel is calculated and the plug read. We have the fuel calculation from Martin and with that and the plug in hand Gary and I look at each other with a note of despair. I wish W was here. We talked about how lean the bike was running and spent time looking down the plug hole and looking deep in to the plug. We had used far too little fuel per lap but the plug and piston read ok. Good actually so we left the bike for a few minutes and sat down and discussed what had happened. It finally dawned on me to divide the fuel used by ten not eleven as we were lapped by the faster bikes. Relief as we got the calculation we wanted for fuel use. We were back on track. Bike was finished and parked for race two.
Lunch was had by all and a good time was shared with the usual bantering from George and Rob. Tis great to have you two around and share your knowledge and friendship. However it is a bit unsettling to see you both still ride Yamahahahahahahas. Now here is what happens when you get relaxed at the track.
First call to the Dummy grid for 125 and 150 street stocks. Panic in the pit. Warm the bike and find Patrick. Second call for blab la bla. Holly shit are we going to make it. Adrenalin running high. Final call for 125s bla blab la. We don’t need this. We don’t have the championship in the bag yet. Off he goes and we all head to pit wall. What a stupid thing to happen. Lack of concentration on my part but we made it. Or not. Here he comes back through the pits with the bike at speed. Martin is already at our pit and holding the bike as I run over. Dam I am getting old. To hard to run too far for this old man. What the F*&% is wrong they are going out the gate. No back protector Patrick yells from in the helmet. Leathers open and off and back protector goes on. I had the sinking feeling cos the pit gates would be closed before he got back. Gloves on and away. I watch with despair as he disappeared round the corner to the gates. Had he missed it? A short gap and he rode down pit lane and out on to the track and off on the warm up lap. Shit that was close. It was only because Gary held the pit gate open, physically, that Patrick made it to the race. When Gary patted Patrick on the back as the gate opened the first time he realised he had no amour on. Bloody hell what an adrenalin rush.
Round to the starting grid and all was set. We had to finish the race and keep the shiny side up to win the championship. Lights out and off. Patrick stayed in second and third place to the first corner where he took the lead. The 125s came around for the first time at a tremendous speed. I was watching as the 125 bikes headed to the first corner. I couldn’t believe the speed they kept up with very late breaking looking obvious. One of the bikes just couldn’t do it and spat the rider off in style. No movement from the rider prompted us all to call for the red flag. The marshals, of course, were on to it and we had a red flag in no time and the bikes came in to the pit lane to wait for the ambulance to clear the track. Patrick commented on the bike feeling flat. We discussed this and decided it was the adrenaline rush from nearly missing the start. Off for a restart.
Again Zane rode around Patrick in the straights and Patrick would take the lead back in the corners. It has been obvious for a long time that Zane’s bike has more power than we could squeeze outa our 150 so it was, that we ran second in most of the races for the season.
So it continued, they fought it out on the track and Patrick worked hard to gain the lead. He did often as they circulated for nine laps. Again beaten in to first place by Zane. Frustrating but that’s motor sport.
We had the championship in the bag in the last race of the season. What a great way to end the season for a new race team and rider. Patrick gave us a demonstration of how to wear the middle of a race tyre out in the pits and great cheers went up as the smoke cleared. We have done it and hugs all around. We missed Donna and Warrick on this special day but thank them for their time and support and know we can do the summer series with them soon. No testing or measuring of anything as the bike was pushed in to the van and the pits cleared up. Off to the Pub for a beer and wait for prize giving. Beers all round and platters of food was the order of the day. We sat and chatted and had a ball. After an hour the rest of the support team joined us from the track. Some were marshalling and some were with others they support. We had most of the crew with us less George and Rob who had to ride home and other places and Warrick and Donna who had other important family things to get done. A great time was spent sitting joking and bonding as friends after what was a great race season. What a great place and space to be in. Well done Patrick.
We moved inside and Patrick received his trophy for a job well done. With a lot of hugs and back slapping we sorted out who was going with whom and we set off for home. Now that trip has some stories to tell that make for as exciting reading as the race day it’s self but that will have to stay in house or maybe someone could report on that on their Bebo page.
We did it. Thanks FiveStar and thanks to the whole team. I can’t thank you all enough. We did it in our first year and it shows what a team is. With out any one person and that includes the support team this would have been an also ran team for winter 08. But it was a win Thanks to you all.

And all the Hawke’s Bay team who are spending time with us and for supporting us. Our family is big and we are thankful for so much support. To all the people we have met in the pits and on and off the track. Thanks. Bike riders and supporters are great people. What a family to belong to. Bring on the summer season and lets do it all again.
Joanna Doohan for your work on the graphics with Patrick for the team logo. Your time and support is appreciated. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
Bev Doohan for your support with the wets and cash. Your Grandson appreciates it as do we all. Well done for seeing the dream and helping to achieve it.
Steve and Mary Doohan. Mary Moo for the food, team support and main organizer and stable influence on the whole team. Mother, lover and friend. Not all wives could live with the race bike in the house for six months. You are the best. And Steve for just being there to pull it all together. Or something   Doohan Brother farming partnership for donating all the hours I took to work on the bike. Sssssshhhh they never missed me. :jerry:
Patrick Doohan , last but not least -For putting up with us as we pushed and poked at the bike and for giving you a bike that was not up to the job at the start of the campaign. For working with us in trying conditions and endless testing till we got it sorted. For taking the bike and applying your riding talents to it and making this a winning team in the winter of 08. You are talented and we look forward to watching what ever comes in the future. Well done young fella and thanks for sharing your talent with us all as we chased a dream. Rock on and keep ‘doohan’ it.
