Yep. Takes out the A1GP corner and also put a kink half way down the long straight so that triumphs can keep up.

You should only close your eyes just before you hit the deck, as then, there is no memory for your brain to remember when you wake up somewhere, which could potentially put you off next time you find yourself in a situation that you could possibly get out of by keeping your eyes open and hanging on tighter to the bars, thereby preventing the ride in the Ambo ( or helicopter) no reference to a dodgy Southern HB road that shall remain nameless for those who know. This is what my wife told me 20 years ago and it has worked so far.

Long term plan guys/gals, what about a weekend at Hampton Downs doing a trackday?
Accommodation possibly at Maxheadroom's (BFTP guy) place, 8 mins from the track, or stay in an apartment at HD? Max's wife has offered it as an option to stay with them.

In summer, leave Friday arvo, home Sunday, either ride there or trailer.

Yeah its a shame, I've always had good service from their parts, Martin & his team there.

People always put down the Duc dealer, Casbolts in ChCh, but I brought my SS off them and they went out of their way to get it for me off a guy from Nelson, as I wanted a NZ new one not a Jap import.

Hamilton Motorcycles no better. Took the 999 to them for a full service at 15,000km( belts, C02 adjust and everything else that was required) and also asked them to change the fuel filter as we had a wee problem with it stalling under hard braking. They said the fuel filter was not due until 40,000km so they elected not to change it even though I asked them to. did a track day at Taupo the following day and it stalled when braking so many times , I got black flagged.
Took it to a mate next week and we took out the fuel filter , it was a wonder it ran on 1 cylinder, let alone two it was so blocked. Don't go there either.
If you want your Ducati serviced you can not go past Des at Redfox Motorcycles in Levin or Pete at Total Motorcycles , Palmerston North . They also do race bikes for many top racers.

Yep, they're character building.

I've been able to sort any issues out myself on mine so far.
They're not actually that diffulcult, people just get hung up on shims/belts etc etc.
2vs are easy, 4vs a bit more techy.
Trouble is no one around here has the factory computer plug in thingies if you need anything like that done.

As of today, Bay Ford and Mazda own the Onekawa Suzki shop. They are remaining on site for about a year with existing staff. Thereafter, they will probably incorporated the business into one of their workshops.

Seems this is not the first Ford dealership to do this within NZ.

I spoke to five star a couple months ago and they dont lend for licences any more, they suggested that honda in bayview may still be doing it?

Could one of you guys steer (or recommend) me to a good place to hire a bike for a half day or something.

On a side note, five star being bought by ford, will this bring many changes to the five star shop or garage? Im hoping not as the guys in there are awesome.

MR27 Registration Form
The form allows you to change the expiry date of a vehicle's license.
You can chose a date up to 15 months from the date of application. (see note 2 on the back of the MR 27)
Costs you $7 plus any extra rego time you need to purchase up to the new date.
Can be done irrespective of the current license status of the vehicle. (e.g. licensed, on hold, expired)
Did this today as my rego was due to expire 27th June 2010. Duc now registered until 24th Sept 2011, 15 months at the old price. ( $397.00 ) The lady behind the counter was quite excited that we were able to do this, very helpfull and expected a flood of big, hairy bikers to be doing the same in the next 6 days.

I might give hastings honda a call and see what they can do for me, but unfortunately i dont need to buy a bike so might not be so easy.

Wooh almost legal huh?

Give me a PM if you get desperate, might know an FXR150 you could borrow although no guarantees.

Its definately been holding me back from a lot of social rides, missed out on a big ride around all of the north island late last year because I was too concerned about being pulled over in the group. Turns out that group got pulled up and all licences checked.

If you havent riden the Napier to Wairoa section of SH2 lately, there are 2 rough sections of road on the downhill side (heading north) of the Devils Elbow. There is only temporary surfacing down at the moment pending permanent repairs in the warmer months (Sep/Oct). It can be quite rough and one section is on a right hander. Signs are in place.

Went out to Waimarama Saturday, Mobil ride.Road in best condition its been in for a long time ( apart from the usual ripples on the sharp corners). Comming back turned left towards Elsthorpe/ Patongata and took the road down the back of Te Mata Peak. Well, what can we say, a shitty piece or road just got a whole lot shittier. Would like to know where you stand legally when you crash on unmarked, unswept recent seal patching. More gravel than a gravel road with a white line painted down the middle and enough jumps to hold a Super X.

No, didn't crash, just posing a question. Think I'll just avoid that piece of road. Might ring and find out the contractor anyway. Most of them don't know how to do the job properly. Half of the time the patch crew are patching up the new sealing job before the painters even get on to do the marking or put the cats eyes back..

As requested, this email is to confirm outcome of your report of loose chip. Actions and outcomes as follows:

- Site visit showed patches were clear of loose chip. Some loose aggregate found on road at new rehab site where cars are cutting the corners and aggregate is being tossed out. Site has been swept and EMP placement considered to traffic off the unsealed portion

- Investigation of Contractors paper work showed some deficiencies regarding recording of times in relation to sweeping and disestablishment of signs. This has been noted as a non conformance for corrective action as is consideration for the timing of removal of signs.

As discussed thank you for your comments and apologies for the delays in getting back to you. As mentioned I would be keen to have access to your bikers forum to receive feedback on any areas of concern. I cannot promise the world with regard to providing a rolls Royce network but we can prioritise and manage the risk for our road users.

Good guy Brendon Walker, he certainly seemed to be genuinly concerned. I asked him who would I sue if I crashed on some loose, unswept chip repairs? He suggested both parties were liable, the HDC and contractor. He encourages feedback and will follow up.

:shifty:

lol my bad that is very true.

took a photo of what shes like before i clean her up. got a few things todo on it:
good service, all fluids & filters
new front tyre (has plenty of meat but it sat with bugger all air in it and now there are afew small cracks that leak air slowly)
give it the best clean it has ever had
carb clean and balance
new fork seals
get a replacement air intake tube
fix up the fairings
find some pillion foot pegs, and work out a way to fit a small pack rack

one thing i have noticed is it has abit of slack between being off the throttle and on it. what could that be? the chain isn't loose but haven't had a close look at sprockets. maybe it was just the way i was riding it.

thats probably the most likely thing, I will have to bring it round so you can have a ride on it to test it out.

If your coming upto a really slow corner like 20kmph or less do you clutch for the transition from braking to accelerating. eg first gear braking(coming upto roundabout that you can go through but at slow speed), get to lowish revs pull it in then start slipping it as you take off again? or be easy as on the throttle?

MSTRS
7th September 2010, 10:51

Throttle off and change down. Little engine like that, you will probably have to brake as well...maybe. Get ready to stop (cover the clutch). If clear, enter the intersection and apply a little throttle. Leave intersection and change up.
No need to slip the clutch. And no need for a big handful of brake or throttle. Gentle. Smooth.

cheers for that, i just went for a little pootle and yesterday i must have been in the omg i've got a bike mode and wanting to hear the motor. it has a decent amount of engine braking for small bike i reckon.

on that little ride i made sure i didn't rev high :innocent: kept it to like 8 k then changed gear that made a big difference. i'm used to slow cars where you have to rev them to go anywhere faster than a snail. the motorbike is like get to the speed limit with no fuss. yesterday i was staying near the power which i didn't have to do cause it rides fine below the power. damn 18k redline.

who said smoking is addictive, i get 10x a better rush from riding :Punk:

Oh i was alot smoother than yesterday and i think that made alot of difference

how do you restrain yourself on a big bike from not just cracking it open and being at 200?

You have much to learn, young Padawan...

Just had another read of what you plan doing to the bike...
I know you're keen as a keen thing, BUT I advise caution. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Particularly the carbs. If the engine runs well, just give it some new oil etc but leave those carbs alone.
